I'm surprised by so many bad experiences. Or maybe the satisfied customers don't write many reviews. It's a fast food chain restaurant with fresh made dishes. Maybe not the very best but it's convenient and better than other options. If I wanted and had the time to drive farther and pay much more for my favorite Chinese food I would dine there. P/E is better than average in my experience. The service can be rushed at times, but that's a management issue. I also don't go in during the busiest time of day. I'm not a person who messes around with stars, giving restaurants, places, stars based on customers or even the decor or bathroom. Let me start by saying I've been going to this location for many years and always look forward to it. I've noticed it has been going downhill for the last couple of years. Last night my husband stopped here because I had a craving and It was the worst it has ever been. The fried rice was very dried out and chewy to the point of almost crunchy! Btw...hate peas in fried rice! The chow mein seemed overcooked and had way more cabbage than noodle. Ugh! I decided to have the Beijing beef, even though it's high in calorie, yet has always been very good. But oh my God did the cook walk away from the deep fryer? Every piece was so very crunchy! I don't have anything really bad to say about the broccoli beef, I prefer more broccoli than beef, and the broccoli was fine. I do not think that most establishments even read these reviews and make things better... I sure wish they did! The Panda in Pinole has always been my favorite Panda in the area. And I know it's the cooks. Every time I've gone to the Panda in Martinez they seemed very young and I did not care for the food they cooked. I don't remember the Panda cooks in Concord but that location has not been a favorite of mine. First. Came in with my daughter around 9PM. Line was not long. Ordered 3 plates. First plate was for my daughter, got her some half and half, shrimp and orange chicken. I asked if they were going to have more Beijing beef, he said yes, they will cook more, and accidentally placed the beef on my daughter's order. My daughter doesn't go well with spicy. So I explained that the item doesn't go with that plate. He just scooped it out and placed it back, mind you the meat has touched the shrimp and rice, so you can see the beef back on the main display with rice. I asked if he could re-do it but said no. Next was for my wife, I asked if I could just wait for the new batch of Beijing since the beef that was left on display was old. He said yes, but then decided to scoop the remaining beef and said oh there is enough for two servings. So again I explained, but again ignored. Last my order, white rice with shrimp and beef and broccoli. He placed all 10 pieces of broccoli, and no beef. At this point, I explained but he just went on and moved to the next person in line. I'm pretty disappointed, I should have left it wasn't worth it honestly. Spent $37 for trash, but my daughter was hungry. But lesson learned. There's something about chow mein from Panda Express that always makes me crave it! I went to the Pinole location recently to grab some food before the dinner rush. Around 5pm there were only 3 parties in line, but a few minutes later, the line was out the door. The staff juggle the in-person orders as well as the online orders/ door dash orders, etc. so they're very busy at this time.The woman taking my order was extremely nice though and kept apologizing for the wait. She was so sweet. I noticed a sign at the beginning of the line that said there may be some food shortages, though at least when I was here, there weren't any empty pots. What caught my eye is the Panda Club meal, which is their version of a kids meal, and it had Disney's Turning Red characters on the board, but the kids meal does not come with a toy. The egg plant tofu and chow mein never disappoints, but I was actually surprised that the a la carte boxes were so much smaller than I remembered. I ordered a large sized chow mein, and I thought I was given a medium sized by accident. But no, the large sized box is just that small. I placed an order on Uber eats Ft or pick up. I got there and waited until the time it said it was ready to go in. I go in and the lady at the register says it'll be like 2 more minutes. So I tell her okay I have kids in the car I'll be back. I wait a few minutes then I go back in. And I'm waiting and she says oh it's just one more item they are waiting on and I say okay how long? And she just repeats it's just one more item the honey sesame we are waiting on. At this point I'm frustrated because I've told you I have kids in the car give me an actual timeframe and I'll be back because I can't leave them out there. By the time I left it was almost 30 minutes after the pick up time, she didn't even put the extra chili like I asked in the bag and the food besides the honey sesame chicken were cold. Panda Express certainly did not disappoint my expectations. They are as stingy as ever with their portions. Look at the picture Panda uses to advertise their family meal compared to what I was given. Panda Express pictures are misleading and grossly exaggerated. I thought false advertising is illegal. Cost + Portion = Value and Panda Express failed miserably. I ordered online @8:58pm Places closes @10pm I got there @9:15 they did not complete my order they said they were no longer making one of my orders and my only option was to just get rice but that they were out of rice. After my husband standing for almost 30 minutes and they were only assisting the walk in orders I decided to ask for a refund. The lack of professional and customer service is to not come back here. Panda Express has been around for more than 30 years, I am not sure how long this busy location has been opened. In all those years I had never ordered or eaten their food. I wanted to bring something to a friend's house to enjoy while we watched TV. I ordered: orange chicken, egg rolls, and chicken chow mein. I had read about the orange chicken and many people I know told me about this dish. It was tasty enough that I would order it again, but I am not sure why people rave about it. The eggrolls were good and so was the chow mein. To support local business, I prefer to go to family-owned restaurants, Panda Express is corporately owned with very few franchises. I called to ask for a manager. This is the conversation I heard in the background, from Ceaser, whom answered the phone after asking. "Hey Kim you want to be the manager? Come on, you make a good manager. " then Kim gets on the phone without introducing herself. First the negative. I ordered to go pick up tonight during dinner rush around 6 pm. It was super busy. I ordered a side of spring rolls with my meal, which comes as a pack of 2. As I was walking to my car I decided to check my order and noticed they only gave me one spring roll. I went back inside and told them and the guy told me "we ran out." Okayyy...so are you going to give me a refund? Or just hope I didn't notice until I got home? He then said, oh, there are more, but it will be a 2 minute wait. For future references, either give people what they pay for or communicate. If you don't have something, give a refund or let them know it will be a few minutes. I already waited 15 minutes and was not even upset because I knew it was busy. I would have never noticed an extra 2 minutes of waiting for something I paid for, but I WILL for sure remember to check my order now that I know someone that works here knowingly shorted me and hoped I wouldn't notice until I got home since it would be unlikely for someone to drive all the way back at that point over a spring roll. Side note: they also did not give me sweet and sour sauce lol which is not something I would have left a negative review over, but it is extra annoying considering the circumstances. Other than this, I have been here a few times and haven't had any issues. It is not unusual for it to be super busy (line wrapped around the inside of the building) during the dinner rush. I usually will order about 10 minutes in advance for to go pick up and when it is that busy it will still be about a 15-20 minute wait. It is slow moving line during the dinner rush and I would never walk in without ordering in advance. Lol. Don't do it. You will be there for a very long time. I wouldn't be surprised if you're in line for over 30 minutes. During the day it is much calmer, but I still order a few minutes in advance and it is almost always ready to go by time I get there. My dad and I went here and ordered to go, but we usually sit in and eat at this fantastic establishment called Panda Express. $14.50 fed 3 people (my parents and I). Today they were giving out one entree of Thai Cashew Chicken for free with this coupon: http://www.pandaexpress.com/webzine/TCC2010/images/TCC_eCoupon_071410.jpg I printed out 3 (1 per person, but my mom didn't want to go) but I brought all 3 just in case they'd let me get 2. We also had the free entree with purchase of 2 entree meal from doing the survey on the back of your receipt. I filled out 2 of these. So basically, my dad and I went to Panda Express, and the line was as long as I've ever seen..about 20 people in front of us..and by the time we got to the front, another 20 behind us! My dad and I each got the 2 entree meal with half/half fried rice and chow mein, + the free entree for doing the survey. Paid, then went back in line to get our free entree (no purchase necessary, but can't combine with any other offers, so we didn't want to risk them saying anything, which is why we lined up twice). All in all, 6 entrees (Mandarin Chicken with sauce on the side, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, Orange Chicken, 2 entrees of Beijing Beef [my dad didn't tell me my mom wanted Kung Pow Chicken instead]), and 2 half & half fried rice & chow mein...+ all the forks, chop sticks, straws, and napkins that we took, ALL for less than $15. Now that's a good deal. From the food we ate, the best was definitely: 1. Honey Walnut Shrimp/Orange Chicken 2. Thai Cashew Chicken 3. Eggplant with Garlic Sauce 4. Beijing Beef (2) Don't get me wrong, the Beijing Beef is really good...but it's just not as good as the top 3. These are all superb items. On "Eat This, Not That" Orange Chicken is part of the "Not That" but if you're not necessarily worried about nutrition, definitely try the orange chicken if you haven't already. I kept eating some even after I was full---that's how good it is. All in all, this was a good deal because of the coupons and such.
