If you read my original review, you can see I've been a fan of this place. But no more. We pre order a lot and I come pick it up. They'll say it's ready at 5:24 and I know it won't be until 5:28 or so. It's never, ever ready at the time they say. They never have enough people working there. Often the place is packed and there's one or two people cooking and one person working behind the counter. Today (4/19/26) was the worst. Said our food would be ready at 5:14, I got there at 5:18, the place was packed, there's one girl behind the counter, I finally get her attention and she snaps "it's not going to be ready for another 7 or 8 minutes, you're way back here" and she points to the screen and I know 7 or 8 minutes is a total lie. She absolutely knows it's going to be way longer. And people are coming in and she's telling these people 8 to 10 minutes which again, was a total lie. There were so many people there, there was no where for me to stand. I watched this girl get orders mixed up (she wasn't putting the receipt on the bag like they normally do). When someone's order was ready in the place, she'd just mumble a number. I was right next to her and couldn't understand her. Eventually people would come to the counter and find their food. I do not know why she wasn't using the little electronic notification devices, they were stacked up and lit but she was just mumbling a number that no one could hear (and she didn't speak good English to being with). I watch this absolute travesty - of course I'm there almost 20 minutes before I get my food, she just slams the bag on the counter, I guess that meant it was mine. I just look in the bag and she barks "that's yours." Good to know. This is absolutely management's fault. There's no reason for 3 people to be working a crowded Sunday. Just ridiculous. And of course watching this lady work was painful. She doesn't like her job. And we're done with this place. I've said it before, I'll say it again - good service doesn't exist anymore. Every place is run by people like this place. Management that doesn't give a flying hoot and employees who are not good workers and also don't care. And Habit management will read this. Do they care? Hope. They're laughing at this review. read more

Nov 21 2025 2 pm ish 3.7 stars We stopped by here shortly after their grand opening. It was a noisy madhouse and I swore to myself Never Again. Buut the wife was craving a patty melt and I had some ass kissing-making up to do so I agreed to go in for a bite. The Cobb Salad I had was actually delicious. I was impressed with the attention to detail with the heated grilled chicken and the poppy? and sesame seeds. She enjoyed her melt and thank goodness I was out of the dog house. The words "I'd come back here again" had just passed my lips when some low-life's offspring started yelling which is a bad omen so I may not dine in again. To go? OK. There is a sign in the Men's restroom that says to allert Management if the room needs attention. Asking the customers to be restroom watchdogs? Not working out. It did need attention and I told the front of house employee that the urinal was flooded and paper was strewn about the floor. I stopped here on the way home on a Sunday afternoon. I remember this place as being right next to the freeway. I ordered a Double Char and Onion Rings. After a short wait, I got my food. Staff were busy, but friendly and polite. Ahhh, the Double Char is worth the price! Hot and fresh, and coated with creamy cheese. The burger is thick and satisfying. The Onion Rings were fresh and crispy. Absolutely perfect with a ranch dip. Habit Burger on Pinole Valley Rd is a great place to stop for a break. read more

Habit is on my lunch takeout rotation sometimes and decided to try the crispy chicken bites along with my double char with cheese and half and half fries/sweet potato. Big mistake - the chicken bites were hard as a rock and dry as a bone! Super overcooked and old-tasting. I couldn't even finish them. I expected crispy, flavorful on the outside and tender/juicy on the inside, but this was miles away from that. Big disappointment! The burger and fries were ok, but the chicken bites left a bad taste in my mouth. Unless they improve the recipe/cooking methods, I'll just stick to the burgers from now on. read more

We wanted a hamburger and salad for dinner and opted to get a take-out order at Habit Burger. The wait was 15 minutes and when we got to the place, the order was already ready for pickup I will review first the food we got and I want to make a special mention of the Santa Barbara Cobb salad. This salad was super delicious. It's a huge portion and you will notice how fresh the icebergs and lettuce are. The Cobb salad consisted of Crisp shredded iceberg and Romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, avocado, blue cheese crumbles, hickory-smoked bacon, and egg, tossed in red wine vinaigrette, topped with chargrilled chicken breast You have a choice of their House Dressing (balsamic & olive oil), House Ranch, Sweet Mustard, Thousand Island, Blue Cheese, Vinaigrette, Caesar, or fat-free Italian. We ordered the house dressing and it complemented the Cobb Salad. This menu is good for a couple of people and will satisfy your hunger. For the service, I highly recommend you check your order once you pick them up. Once we got to the counter, the person behind the counter gave us only one bag. When we checked, we noticed several items missing. When we told them about the items, one of the ladies handed over a second bag. We still have to tell her that we have a cup of chocolate milk. For all consumers, you have to check your order before walking out of the establishment. Sometimes, they could miss an item and are not intentional. Service was absolutely horrible. I am never coming to this location ever again! I had a deal for 2-for-1 charburgers. I scanned it and the cashier failed to tell me it didn't go through. So I ended up paying for two charburgers with cheese. When I realized the mistake, I brought it up to another employee and he just said, "Uh yeah once it goes through I cannot do anything to reverse it. Sorry." I am going to post this on Yelp as well. I normally don't leave reviews, but this experience really bothered me. The food was fine, but the manager, Veronica, completely ruined the atmosphere. She had a very bad attitude from the moment we walked in. She came across as rude and dismissive, and it honestly felt like customers were an inconvenience to her. What stood out the most was how she treated her employees. She spoke to them in a disrespectful tone right in front of customers, which was uncomfortable to witness. No one deserves to be talked to that way, especially at work. It created a tense and negative environment that made the whole place feel awkward. Management sets the tone for a restaurant, and unfortunately this was not a positive one. I hope ownership looks into this because it reflects poorly on the business. read more

Wait a minute... The Habit serves salad? I notice they have a self kiosk, but I am stunned about the place serving a salad. The Habit added a self kiosk instead of falling in line to place an order. I find it easy to use. You can look at the menu on what is being served at The Habit instead of looking up at the menu. The Charburger is good! I got our food and brought it to the table and my daughter got up and asked for a extra ranch and was told it would be extra and she would have to pay. I didn't want to use my card for .66 cents. So my daughter went up and was 1 penny short and was told by the " MANAGER " Veronica that she couldn't get a ranch unless she came up with a penny because she was short. She was so disappointed and didn't want me to have to use my card for a ranch so she changed her mind. The point is I waited 20+ min for my food and you couldn't just have good customer service and give a kid a ranch because she was a penny short. If I could give a zero I would. I went today with my daughter to get some food which we rarely even go here. The young guy behind the counter definitely needs more training on customer service. I placed my order at the machine for two meals including two ranch's 1) they didn't provide the cups for the meals 2) they didn't provide the ranch. So when I went to ask for the ranch the guy behind the counter said if you want ranch I will need to charge you. I answered why if I paid and requested at the time when I ordered. I walked back and grabbed my receipt and handed it back to him. With attitude and rudeness he said you didn't have to come that way towards me. I replied all you had to do is ask for the receipt. A trip to Habit was a good ending to my granddaughter's first Trunk and Treat day of activities . Due to the pandemic, this year's festivities is her first experience of harvest festivals and trunk and treating. I will say it was 8:30 pm when we arrived to this establishment and I am not surprised that the trash can inside and outside on the patio was overflowing with garbage. Patio slightly trashed and the restaurant was pretty busy. Customer service was ok. The cashier seemed like he was ready for Saturday night to be over lol. He was pleasant and our order was fresh and hot after a 10 minute wait to dine in. It was nice to see a couple of other tables with trunk and treaters with family in tow. My teens like this place and I enjoy the tempura string beans. The food was fair to good and a great value for kid's meals $6.99 and my teen and toddler dates were happy and full. Definitely one of the better chain burger restaurant. They will cook my burger to temperature choice and have alternatives to beef burgers. If their sides were fresh cut (fries, onion rings) and used something other than American cheese, I'd easily give them four stars. The customer service is great. We waited patiently for our order and when only three meals arrived we pointed out that we were short one order. The cashier was snooty and unapologetic. Ordered curbside pickup for 9:10p pickup. I received a text at 9p saying my order was ready. I got to the parking area at 9:16p and notified store I was there. Ten minutes later, I was still waiting. In the pandemic, I ordered burgers to go and received a text message to pick my order up but the person I spoke to couldn't find my order for at least 10 minutes! Long story short, it was sitting on the counter and someone found it... No apologies... I am sitting at the restaurant eating a burger now, my tempura green beans portion was small and I saw a lot of salt on the bottom(tasted too salty) and our French fries are not fresh(stale)... Poor management & Poorly trained employee. 3/29/25 about 2:30 pm. Customer in front of me was paying in cash. This young man was having difficulty counting back change. (Lack of proper training, not his fault) Then a bunch of things seem to happen all a once. I could see 3 employees behind the cooking area, 2 at the grills and 1 in the way back cutting vegetables. There were multiple orders sitting on the top of the counter. This is our to go burger joint because I'm not a fan of those other fast food chains. This is also my boyfriend's fav burger place when he wants a good tasty burger. Burgers and fries are always cooked right and what I love mostly are the sweet potato fries I can't get enough of it! The service here is mostly good but it also depends when it gets super busy we've got our orders wrong. This happens when we order through the mobile app. The restaurant itself is usually clean and not too crowded. We have only dine in a couple times but mostly we do pickup. Kicking The Habit ~ Well, the predictable has come to pass... YUM! Brands - the company that absorbs fast food restaurants like Taco Bell and KFC and then ruins the food quality in pursuit of higher profits - bought The Habit a while back and it's showing... BIG time. We ordered delivery for the first time in a couple of years and the food was virtually unrecognizable... Gone are the generous portioned, well seasoned and juicy hamburger patties, now you get smaller, dry, overcooked and under seasoned beef - beyond mediocre, outright BAD! Flavorless... You really can't even taste char - you get better at Burger King! (And that's not good). "Extra Crispy" Fries? Bwaaahahahaha! Even though our delivery was speedy and early, we got limp, greasy room temperature fries. Some of these issues may have to do with management and employees at this location, but there's no denying YUM! has made some changes and The Habit as folks came to love and know it is gone for good. We'll be looking to patronize small, Mom & Pop locally owned burger joints going forward, where they actually still care about flavor and food quality... Might cost a bit more, but worth it.
