Great service, great concept, but cold pizza. Setting: open and spacious. Kinda loud. Nice wall with pictures of employees! Food: we both had cauliflower crust pizzas. My friend didn't like it, but the cheesiness embedded in the crust reminded me of the galaxy pizzas we used to get in grade school so I was fine with it. I really love the concept of build-your-own-pizza right in front of you, but today it was off. I can tell they were super busy, which was weird for a Thursday, but I guess the dinner rush + doordash made service a little slow. Also our pizzas were cold; the mozzarella was unmelted and the surface veggies barely saw an increase in degrees Fahrenheit. Service: friendly service! You can tell that they were trying their best. I think the only other type of food with higher profit margins are the pasta dishes. I like this place slightly better than Blaze Pizza which is a mile away because the price here is a dollar cheaper. I don't really have much else to say besides that. The food is nearly identical. Everything is "fresh," but you're lying to yourself if you can tell the difference between ham that's been in a fridge for one day vs a week and then cooked on a pizza. I live closer to Blaze but I'm willing to travel that extra mile to go to MOD Pizza just because it's next to ALDI and Dunkin Donuts. I end up at ALDI and Dunkin Donuts a lot. My wife had the Bianca pizza and I had a salad with some pumpkin in it. The food was very edible and service was great. Would I come here again? Sure. I have been here twice now - once for dinner and another time for lunch. MOD is basically Chipotle for pizza. Work your way down the line as you pick your size crust, sauce, toppings. My go-to is garlic, spinach, pepperoni. Quality will depend on who is in the kitchen on that particular day. It was definitely better on my first visit than my second. On both visits, I also ordered a strawberry shake. This was also better first time than second. It wasn't as thick on the second visit. And yowza, there are alot of calories in their milkshakes. This place is great for people of ALL ages! The price point at just under $10 makes it easy to make everyone in your house happy. (The worst part is that it looked like there was an employee specifically assigned to add finishings after pizzas are done.) There was plenty of bell pepper, but I think I saw maybe 3 tiny tomato slices, 5 spinach leaves and maybe a few more small rounds of the sausage on the whole pizza. I've had many terrible experiences with them, but My boyfriend never has, and he loves the unlimited toppings with no additional charge, so I have continued to give them chances to change my mind. The first issue I had was when he and I ordered our pizzas and they sent us two pizzas with his toppings, we have very different taste in pizza toppings, so I was very disappointed, but I ate what I got. The second time we ordered, he got the pizza he ordered exactly as he asked, but I got a pizza with none of the toppings I had requested. I didn't complain. The family and I were in Decatur and wanted to grab dinner. I looked up "Hot and New" restaurants near me and Mod Pizza was one of the first ones on the list. When you walk in, everyone greets you in a loud and friendly manner (reminded me of when you walk into Moe's). They have tons of pizza options and then you can build your own as well. The best thing is that they have a flat rate, regardless of how many toppings you choose. We ordered the Tristan (roasted red peppers, mushrooms, and pesto), but added basil and red sauce, and the Mad Dog (sausage, pepperoni, & ground beef). I added a side of garlic strips and cinnamon strips as well. The pizzas are delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and fulfilling. The cinnamon strips reminded me of a crisp elephant ear at the state fair. The only thing I didn't care for was the garlic strips. They put a little too much garlic and also too much rosemary, so they had a really woodsy flavor. I'll definitely be back to Mod.
