I visited Modi's gorgeous space under Salesforce Park on a Saturday Night during their soft opening. The inside is bright and vibrant while their heated outdoor seating is darker and more relaxed. Started off with the Tacos Capesante e Funghi. The scallops could have been seared a bit longer and the scallop mushroom mix could have used some salt, but overall it was still a pleasant dish. The soft corn tortillas had a really nice homemade feel and really added a good earthiness to the tacos. The Birria Lasagna was very intriguing. It was super hearty and filling and I think the fusion of the slow cooked meat and a baked pasta really makes a lot of sense. It has the makings of a signature dish; really enjoyed this one. Dessert was a Churros Tiramisu that definitely didn't look like what I'd pictured in my head. It was more like churros with tiramisu-style dipping sauce. I have a weakness for churros so I'd be happy with the dish no matter what. The waiter, Dushan, was very kind and mentioned that their grand opening would be 11/21 with live music etc. Modi has a lot of potential and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how this place evolves and improves! read more

For entrees my husband ordered the birria lasagna and I ordered the corn ravioli. Both were excellent! Our server was very kind and suggested food and drinks. It was just okay. This is a Mexican and Italian fusion restaurant, but every dish had a confused identity and very muted in flavors. If the flavors were there, the execution wasn't quite there. For example, the birria lasagna had some nice flavor from the birria, but the lasagna pasta was chewy and gummy in texture. The pizza looked great, but for some reason had zero flavor. The best dish was the risotto with bone marrow, which was hand scooped tableside by the waiter. The risotto was cooked perfectly, and the bone marrow gave it an extra layer of richness. I visited this restaurant with a few friends on a Thursday evening. The location is nice; although we were not able to be dropped off right next to the restaurant due to road closures. The vibe is chill, but doesn't scream Mexico or Italy. They have videos of various locations along the Amalfi coast and Capri playing on the TV screen outside. When we checked into the restaurant for some reason, they could not find the Resy , despite there being a reservation through Resy. However, they were able to seat us immediately. The service was subpar. One of the guests repeatedly told the person clearing the table that he was not done with his food during the appetizers, but the bus boy took his plate regardless, ignoring him.The waitress offered him a new drink, but then took his drink that he wasn't done with and then brought it back after several minutes. It was very awkward. The food was decent. My favorite was the cheese dip with truffles. There were a lot of mushroom mushrooms, not a strong truffle taste unfortunately but still really good. The ravioli was also good. People really liked the corn. The food for the main courses did not all come out at once. The tacos came out last, approximately 10 minutes after everyone else's food. Walked by and decided to give this place a try -- it wasn't too crowded, and the ambiance inside was super cute and inviting. One thing I always appreciate is when restaurants offer complimentary items, and here they served free chips with a green salsa (possibly tomatillo?) that was really tasty. We started with the focaccia bread and avocado butter -- I'd never heard of avocado butter before, but I absolutely loved it! It had a rich, creamy flavor that really did taste like a perfect blend of avocado and butter. I ordered the Branzino, and while the fish was thinner than I've had at other places, the flavor was solid. It came with potatoes and a salad, which rounded out the dish nicely. We also tried the quesabirria lasagna -- full of bold flavor and incredibly rich. Definitely a filling dish, so come hungry if you're planning to order it. My friend had the chicken, which looked generous in portion and really well-prepared. All in all, I'd definitely come back to try more from the menu! read more

Lemme start out by saying this was a secret gem at the Sales Force Center tucked away on the side near nightlife. The food is so unique it being Italian-Mexican i love how they blended both cultures together and created bomb food to die for. The service is amazing so welcoming and so friendly. The drinks are also so tasty and they just fit the vibe of the whole restaurant. The total came out to $300 which was very reasonable, and we had extra food to bring back! Only recommendation would be to improve the outdoor seating. I honestly don't understand the hype about this place My food was so disappointing! Pros: * The service was great. * The arancini were solid. Cons: * The ceviche (!!!!) -- terrible. They use the same sauce that comes with the arancini, plus the "lasagna birra" sauce, and it just doesn't work at all. It really felt like the restaurant only has one sauce and puts it on everything. * The wagyu + Gorgonzola tacos were also bad. The Gorgonzola completely overpowers everything -- it's way too strong and doesn't match the other flavors. * The lasagna birra was the best of what we ordered, but even that missed the mark. A lasagna should have distinct layers and some crunch; this one just felt like a mushy purée. * On top of that, the place has this sweet, really sickly smell that makes it hard to enjoy the meal. I hate trying a new place and leaving feeling like I wasted my money on bad food. read more

Drinks were okay but the food was not great it was below average. My wife ended up with food poisoning from the molcajete surf and turf. Asada was rough and cheap. Chorizo definitely the el Mexicano brand from Costco. All this food is definitely frozen and not fresh. Not worth 85 dollars or 160 a night. Had better food at Taco Bell. My group and I decided to check out this restaurant during peak dinner hours on a weekday night. I was pleasantly surprised since we were seated almost immediately without a reservation. We ordered two different pies as well as a small platter of corn ribs to share for a group of 4. I definitely don't think the portion sizes were enough for us in hindsight. But overall I was impressed with the quality of their pizza! The pizza diabla was my favorite one since the chorizo was a perfect topping for the spicy sauce. The corn ribs were a miss though - the chipotle mayo sauce carried the dish hard since the grilled flavor was basically non-existent. That being said I'd come back again! read more

I had a good time at Modi! But I had some conflicting feelings. Loved our server, we didn't get his name but he was great at helping us choose our orders and taking care of us. Atmosphere/location: there was construction and it was in the sales force tower, so hard to locate where exactly it was. Only street parking. Very dim and I think there's potential in creating a nicer outdoor area. Food: I felt like the menu was so interesting and creative but upon eating the food it wasn't exactly tasty. It was bland and some of the food was missing texture and seasoning. I felt like there was body on some flavors but it wasn't enhanced. The best thing were the green sauce and tortilla chips, and the salad. I was bummed out about the pasta and pizza. Overall, I think there could be more potential within executing the food more and making the patio have better vibes. it felt short but the staff made it enjoyable. read more

We walked in without a reservation and were probably the only non-convention walk-ins for the first hour. Sure, there was a convention going on nearby, but that seems to be the only reason this place had any business. What does it say about a restaurant if it's only busy when there's a convention in town? There was only one hostess managing the front, which felt completely understaffed for the crowd. While she was friendly, she also seemed inexperienced--slow, a bit scatterbrained, and overwhelmed. Our server was polite, but not particularly attentive. For example, our drinks didn't arrive until halfway through the meal, and there was zero explanation or apology. If the bar is backed up, just say so. Communication goes a long way. Now onto the food. Like many other reviews have mentioned, the dishes were bland and lacked seasoning. Something as simple as adding salt could have made a huge difference. The ravioli was under-seasoned, the ceviche lacked acid, and I'd estimate that 75% of the dishes we tried were just flat in flavor. The cocktails, at least, were solid--but not enough to redeem the meal. The dining room is visually pleasant, but the food isn't worth the price, and the service is hit or miss. It also felt like they prioritized convention guests over local walk-ins, which is never a good long-term strategy. You build a business on your regulars, not just one-off event traffic. Would I come back? Probably not. It felt like the flavors were muted across the board--and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the chef smokes, given how dulled everything tasted. Wish I had a better experience since it's only a hop and a skip away from where we live. read more
