Basically it is American Crispy Cornmeal based vs Korean Crispy Chewy Rice Flour base. I love both versions overall. Currently the promotion is from now until 8/22, buy two K-dogs and get one milk tea free. In additional to the usual condiments of ketchup and mustard, this place also offers cheese whiz, sweet chili, sweet habanero sauce and spicy mayo. I really love the spicy mayo and cheese wiz combination as my dipping sauce and the sweet habanero has a great kick! This is their soft opening. When I heard that this spot opened up, I was looking forward to trying it out since there was a lot of hype for the Myungrang one in Los Angeles, and I haven't had the time to drive up to try it yet. I went with my friend who has been to Myungrang, so she was able to compare the two spots! We went on a Saturday afternoon, and parking wasn't too difficult to find. There are a lot of restaurants in this plaza though, and the parking lot is small. The seating inside was barstool-style and pretty limited as there were only 2 long tables-- not optimal for larger groups. My friend and I got the squid ink corn dog, mozzarella corn dog, volcano corn dog, and spicy rice cake fries. We had the option of having sugar coated on the corn dogs, and we got sugar on all of them. We also got the following sauces on the side to dip our corn dogs in: mango habanero, sweet chili, buttermilk ranch, and cheddar cheese. Other condiments include spicy mayo, mustard, and sriracha. As someone who enjoys spicy food, I'd say that the volcano dog was more mild than spicy. The squid ink dog was good since it had half mozzarella and half sausage. I think it'd taste better if the cheese was wrapped around the hot dog instead of having cheese at the top half and hot dog at the bottom half. I couldn't distinguish the taste of the squid ink batter to the normal corn dog batter that well, but my friend said that Myungrang had a more distinct taste for their squid ink dog compared to Chungchun. My friend had the mozzarella dog, and she said that it was really good. I'm glad that the sugar wasn't sprinkled too heavily on the corn dogs because I was a bit overwhelmed by the sweetness. The food is delicious, its a wide selection of corn dogs that are very delicious, and tasty drinks. I have yet to try their donuts but im sure they're also just as yummy. Sadly when I went in on my last visit I was helped by some rude young boy who couldn't even turn his head to look at me and take my order, he was talking to some young girl that I always see working there, and everytime shes there just talking to whoever is on register and not letting them work. I brushed it off because some kids my age just weren't taught manners, or proper work ethics, but my friend made it known he was irriated with the service. So what really bothered me enough to write this review was the fact that they decided to keep our order behind the counter and not call our number until everyone in the store left except my friend and I. Even then he waited about 5 more minutes to ask if we were order 30... (what other order would we be, we were the only ones left???) and then say "oh your order is right there". We ended up getting our food cold because we were waiting 40 minutes until he finally decided to let us know it was ready. Tried Chungchun Rice Hotdogs for the second time but went in with a different mindset this time around. Knowing it's really not a corn dog but a rice batter dog, my first bit into the cheese dog was outstandingly delicious. The outside texture was crunchy and moist and the dog itself was good. Comparing the two between a traditional corn dog and the rice dog, I'll have to choose this rice dog. In my humble opinion, it's really good and tasty. The staff are friendly and it's nice because social distancing is encouraged and enforced when necessary. Masks are required before entering and a small table has hand sanitizer which you're encouraged to use before entering. My only negative comment, but most definitely not a deal breaker, is that when you exit your clothes have that smell of old cooking oil. My son has been craving Korean hot dogs ever since he first tried them in Waikiki earlier this year. We remembered this spot from a previous visit to the area and decided it was worth the trip from Long Beach to give them a try. We were not disappointed. Their boba pearls are good quality, and the price is much cheaper than most boba places in OC. It's a shame that they discontinued their squid ink corn dog. The batter is lighter and less sweet than a traditional corn dog, with a wonderful crunch on the exterior and a piping hot wiener in the inside. The sugar also adds a surprising nice crunchy texture to the outside without overpowering the hot dog. They also serve French fries with different seasoning. They're definitely geniuses; because they serve a ramen seasoning French fry AND a ramen coated hot dog, therefore not wasting any part of the ramen packet. The price is around 4-6 bucks for everything and they also serve drinks. The interior is pretty small with two large long tables, so it's not really a sit down restaurant. I would recommend for anyone to try this at least once and judge for yourself!
