If you like steamed clams, you must go to this restaurant. I would drive 45 minutes or more for a bucket of their clams. Fish and chips, lobster, and basically anything else will be first-rate. I can't comment on non seafood because I can't imagine not eating the seafood there. I have read some of the other reviews, and the lines are for real, but it's the price you pay for quality at a reasonable price. Reservations, fancy table cloths and a full waiter service would add 50% or more to the cost. I have been greeted by the owner and or his wife on EVERY visit (have eaten here at least 15 times over 9 years). I have never seen another diner not enjoying their food. My seafood averse brother in law looks forward to their fish and chips. Ambience is unimportant to me when I can get food of this freshness and uniformly excellent preparation. read more

Found on Yelp while heading back to Campground from Driving out to the end and we weren't disappointed . We love places like this......casual ! We both had Fish & Chips and not only was it fresh it had good sized portions. Everything about this place was right, friendly, clean, prompt, nice decor, checked on us a couple times. While it's not a sit-down waitress type restaurant all fancy , how they work it is really easy and fast. When you walk in all the menu is on the wall . You pick/choose and order/pay and head to where you want to sit and they bring it to you. I'm not by any means a seafood eater but I really liked this ! Great Coleslaw too ! We were lucky to come by this place when it was not too crowd. Prompt service (you first order and pay for the food and wait for them to bring it out) and friendly staff. We got a very nice, fresh lobster with eggs in it. I was looking to try the lobster roll (a must-try Cape Cod dish) there but was a bit disappointed with the dish. The sauce out-taste the fresh lobster meat and the portion is a bit small. I was hoping that they have the hot lobster roll with butter sauce as another option. HAA..Moby's has been around for years and there is one reason for that...Fresh Seafood, No frills and a great location. Pick up your wine, beer or whatever and place it in a cooler and bring it with you. Food was fresh, no frills. What you would expect on the cape-fried or baked. Was not disappointed. We went during peak dinner time and what impress me was how the line was being managed. TL;DR: The food was pretty good, and the restaurant overall was surprisingly organized and efficient at getting people seated and served food in a timely manner. Woohoo! On vacation to Cape Cod, we had to stop at a restaurant closest to the house we stayed in. I am a pescatarian (a vegetarian who eats fish), so I was excited to try a restaurant and be in an area where seafood is abundant. I was with a party of 5, and they were efficient and quick about getting us a table and our food. A party of 18 were behind us, and instead of the hostess getting frazzled when the party told them, she was actually excited about getting 18 people together. I ordered a salmon sandwich with pesto. It was cooked really well and I enjoyed the pesto on it, too. The other people in my group all really liked their food as well! We even came back the same night and ordered dessert to go. I got the key lime pie, and ever since being to the Flordia Keys, I'm hesitant to try key lime pie anywhere else. Mine was super good though and made me not wanna share with the rest of my family.. :) Overall, good food, good service. Otherwise, the in-season line will stretch for 100 feet or more. Because it's that good. If you're looking for the best place to try a classic lobster dinner, this is it. They boil their lobster and corn to perfection every time -- and their steamers are without question the best on the Cape (no mussel fillers in this basket), from Chatham's coveted Pleasant Bay (because as a co-owner says, "We know a guy"). AMAZING. The mussels are HUGE and the most delicious I've ever had. The lobster roll is REALLY great (a little small, but the quality is worth it). We've been coming to the cape since 1986 and had never tried Moby Dick's. We had a very nice meal!!! All the staff was very attentive and we were surprised that they brought us our meal even though you order at the counter. They had nice specials which we had. Chowder was excellent. One of the owner's talked to us giving history of the restaurant. I was concerned about getting cold (medical issue) and they advised as to where to sit. If you want a non-fried seafood shack then you should go here for some steamers or some such variety. The Seafood Gumbo was delicious. This is not gourmet eats in a fine dining atmosphere. Like many well-established restaurants on the Cape, Moby Dick's has been a huge draw for my family over the years. I used to get the chicken finger platter with corn on the cob and cole slaw on the side, but now I am an adult and have to watch what I eat, so when we returned this summer, I knew that I had to change. There are always lovely foreign waitresses. This year we were met at the counter by a nice girl from Grimsby, England. My parents both had the gumbo to start. I think my father dreams about Moby Dick's gumbo. As we crossed the Bourne Bridge, he made a comment about it, so I knew he had high expectations. Having spent 3 summers away from the Cape, I worried he'd be disappointed, but he wasn't. They loved the gumbo, just as always. For lunch, I had the grilled chicken platter with corn on the cob and steamed broccoli. The chicken was tender and nicely-grilled and came with lemons to squeeze on top. The corn was pre-buttered, which my taste-buds loved, but my waistline didn't like as much. In all - yum. I didn't even miss my old fried chicken fingers. My father had the lobster roll. Sometimes he is disappointed, but not at Moby Dick's. He said that the lobster roll had huge chunks of lobster, no filler, and had just the right amount of mayonnaise - not too little, not too much. My mother also enjoyed her salmon salad. She was pleased to find that the salmon was barbecued. My only gripe with Moby Dick's is that it isn't cheap. $70something for lunch is a lot, especially at a place like Moby's, which isn't a fancy restaurant. I would also recommend showing up for lunch and dinner either early or late, as it gets really crowded with lines winding around the building during peak hours. read more

Fun spot and looked great for groups. Wait in line to order at register and once order is placed they seat you at a table and being your food over when it's ready. BYOB which we noticed some others did! Staff was incredibly friendly while we waited in line to be seated. They even came around either watermelon to try. The line moved quick. When the food came out it was great!! We had a scallop plate, a lobster roll, oysters, clam chowder, and a Caesar salad with scallops. I heard great things about all of the food but I only had one oyster, the chowder and salad with scallops. I loved all of them. This was our most expensive and most disappointing meal of our trip. The clam chowder was thin and far more potato to clam. The lobster rolls were fresher and tastier at PJs and Arnold's. Our one vegetarian in the group had one choice -- a lunch taco of greens, shredded cheese and rotten avocado that needed to be sent back to the kitchen. Even the rice pilaf side was bland. Disappointing when you have been frequenting the same restaurant year after year for almost 40 years and you let the manager know there is a problem with the food and you get attitude vs appreciation for letting them know of an issue. The Manager advised they have been open for only 37 years when I advised I had been frequenting the establishment for over 40 years.... that's when I chose to walk away. Bottom line... Having to send back two different plates of food, one being cold, the other over cooked and then getting the second round of food with the fish dish still over cooked is disappointing. Not sure why Mgmt wouldn't be grateful for the constructive feedback from a long time patron vs letting me know my 40 + year time line was incorrect. Great lobster roll and scallops. Don't be put off by the appearance of a long line it's down to the system which works well. You line up to pay and then sit down. BYOB and often they write your total on the credit card slip so you can only tip the water staff.
