Empty but people have been coming in steadily since we been here.

It was a little too empty when we came in and we got concerned. That soon changed as the smile behind the counter started shining! We ordered a few items and then waited for our goodies to get prepared. Folks streamed in after waiting for a few minutes, and after noticing not only the homemade cakes, but I asked about the barbecue sauce and was told it was homemade as well. We immediately ordered the rib tips and a slice of pineapple coconut cake. The food was made to order, and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Came from Detroit to have lunch with my sister this is one of her favorites places to go eat. I had to try..... she got catfish like always and I got the pork chops when I say sooooooo good I see why she keeps coming back. The sweet potatoes was on point I would say that the Mac and cheese could use more salt but I understand why they didn't you have to think of everybody and they did. Oh and my baby boy had chicken tenders and fries good job!!! I will be back

Came 45 minutes to check this place out because I liked the way the chicken looked in the photos and they had nice reviews. I got 45 bucks worth of food. Whiting and chicken was pretty, but way to salty. The greens were really good cooked to perfection. The mac and cheese was bland, but had a really strong garlic taste. Never seen anyone put garlic in the Mac and cheese... I was really disappointed in the mac and cheese need more cheese. My wife said the yams were just ok need more sugar. The pound case was the best part of the meal it was delicious. I still may come check them out again , I'm fair I always give a second try.

The fish was hot, fresh & very well seasoned. The candied yam's were perfect! So yummy & sweet. Now the Mac & Cheese. The biggest disappointment on my plate. Not cheesy at all and very bland.

This place is so good! Everything is fresh and made to order. I've had the catfish and the chicken (breast and thighs) and both are great. The chicken is so Juicy and has a ton of flavor. As for sides, I usually go for the fried okra and the red beans and rice but the mac and cheese and greens are also pretty good. Highly recommend!

Me I love good food! Home style with heaps of honest chit chat! And love

Home made batter recipe and family run. Solid place that I would definitely come back to. They were out of the mac and cheese at 6 that day so it is a side I will try next time. Friend had a three piece with fries and collard greens. Both sides were good. I wouldn't say it is a best fried chicken I have had but for a family operated business and at a casual setting setting it is a great value and good meal.

To begin with, the experience starts before you can get both feet in the door. Being new, Alexis greeted us as if we were new found cousins. Quaint, yet classy, with decor that reflects the warmth of the establishment as a whole. Very clean. Pimp had the Pork Chop dinner with cabbage and collard greens. I had the Catfish with greens and yams. All I can say is ...... who big maw back there putting the foots in them greens??? Everything was impeccable. The wait was ..... wellllll. We splurged on bean pie for dessert. Do not pass this up. It's unexpected and creamy. We will put this spot on heavy rotation.

For our appetizer we ordered Firecracker shrimp, Fried green tomatoes, and Sweet potato muffins. We also had the complimentary corn bread. The appetizers and sweet potatoes muffins were delicious. The cornbread was dense and okay. For our main course we ordered turkey chops, and they came with two sides. We chose mac and cheese and red beans and rice. The turkey chops were ok but the sides were trash. The red beans and rice were (see picture) dry and the macaroni and cheese (see pictures) as well. The mac and cheese was cheeseless. We also ordered the catfish dinner with okra and yams. The yams were delicious and the okra was okay. The catfish skin was dark like old oil was used. It appeared to be cornmeal fried and hard. I should have specified how I wanted them. We also order the waffle and the chickens and there were no complaints. Honestly, we've been to Cornbread many times. Previously, I've always given 5 stars and haven't ever had any complaints but something drastically changed. The drinks as well didn't taste the same and we were told that the bartender was new. We didn't want to complain or send our food back due to our past experiences at other restaurants but we did take pictures. The service was great. But honestly, I do not believe that we will ever return.

Wow! Passing by at…read moredinner time and saw the pepper steak special on their billboard, so we stopped in. The manager met us and told us he was short on staff, but he would be happy to seat us if we wanted to dine in. It was a completely on the fly accommodation, and was very much appreciated. The restaurant was spotless with a "warm", friendly atmosphere. I had the pepper steak I was after and the Mrs. had the meatloaf. The first bite of my dish stopped me in my tracks, it tasted exactly like my grandfathers recipe. The flavor was completely perfect. And the rice peppers and sauce melted together with the flank cuts, which were tender and popping with flavor on every bite. It came with a balanced cornbread muffin to help shovel the happy goodness onto my fork. And the portion size, well. I usually clean my plate, but not tonight 3/4 of the way in I had to call it because I was absolutely stuffed. The Mrs. meatloaf was tender and moist and packed with flavor too. She ordered the ketchup glaze with it which was good, but was a little too sweet for my taste. Her dish came with three sides, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, and green beans. It's kind of hard to screw those up, and it's just as hard to make them stellar too. And that's just what they were, superbly stellar! There was a definite note of love and pride in the cooking. I can't believe I've overlooked J Mae's for so long. I will be going back again and again to sample all of their awesome menu.

Originally I had 6 pieces of meat in the meal but I thankfully checked my bag as directed to on the signs. I inquired and the container was filled with what I should have gotten as a dinner. Maybe the staff member was new that initial did my order. They were polite. More than 1/2 was tough, some even so much not edible. Disappointing because I really wanted some rib tips. The cornbread was dry and crumbly. Cornbread is not difficult or long cooking so I'm not sure why I'd get old cornbread midday on a Saturday. Or they need to retool the recipe. In my head, I would think that portions would be sampled by the cook to ensure consistency, but I've never worked in a fast past restaurant so I don't know the process. Sides: dressing was good and not overly salty. Yams had too much sugar for me. I bought another meal for someone to eat and I hope it was better. A 1/2 chicken meal was $20. Overall, not with the $25+ tax I paid today. The staff was pleasant. The area was kept clean. However, the meat was a failure. I would be fine paying $25 of the meat was cooked correctly. I would not recommend going here for bbq as they have a not cash return policy. It is store credit or a gift card even if the food is poorly made. Likely need to go to a bbq specific restaurant next time. I have no plans on driving way back to the restaurant and just count it as a loss. The prices are equivalent to sit down restaurants without the service or quality.

The peach cobbler was not served warm which is fine cause we can always take it back and heat it up and put a dollop of ice cream on it but just to let you know in case you wanna ask them to heat it up.
