Was craving some soul food and decided to give this place a try. First off I wanted to mention that this restaurant has only been open for about 6 months so still fairly new. It's a family owned restaurant so you have to support! As far as the food goes it's one of the better soul food places in the Dearborn area. The fried catfish was the highlight of the meal and the sides were very tasty. You can tell they are all family owned recipes and cooked from the heart. I will say the prices are a bit high for the amount of food you get but during these hard times I won't complain. Make sure to order ahead as some items take a bit longer to make! Recommend stopping by though!

OMG! This is the absolute best soul food around. I got the dressing, greens, turkey and Mac and cheese. When I tell u that everything was seasoned to the Tee, cooked to perfection and fresh!!!! The customer service was equally on point. The young man was so patient and pleasant. My daughter got the salmon Alfredo and it was better than any Italian restaurant. Sorry, we started eating and then remembered to take pictures. When the turkey and Mac and cheese is seasoned to the Tee, u know it's good!! They can be pricey, but u do get quite a bit for your dollar and when it's good u don't mind the price. A must try!!!! The only thing missing was cranberry sauce.

For a decade Soulfood from a Alabama family restaurant. Started over a decade selling out they house and three years ago opened this location. Just passed the border of Lincoln Park in Detroit on Fort Street. This place be crazy busy non stop take out orders. We ate inside, no table service just order at take out window on your right once you enter. Really great Soulfood hard to find, Detroit has plenty of places. I was totally blown away by the Southern Cornmeal Catfish OMG with Yams and Loaded Mashed Taters, Real Cornmeal Cornbread for the Win. She had the Baked Chicken so juicy tender with Collard Greens and Mac absolutely Wonderful. A great big menu and daily specials posted on the Facebook page. This spot named in Detroit top ten of Black Owned restaurant's by The Hungry Blackman. Looking forward to many visits, them Ribs and Jerk Chicken looking so good in the photo I posted. @mooresoul.food #mooresoulfood #soulfood #catfish #bakedchicken #collardgreens #yams @thehungryblackman #detroitsoulfood #downriverfriendseat

Cajun chicken and shrimp alfredo from MOORE SOULFOOD in SW Detroit!

This restaurant is new to southwest Detroit and Dee-damn-licous, I gave it 4 stars because the the customer service from 2 of the younger ladies in there was not all that good, neither of them were personable or friendly and for a person who's big on customer service and for a business who needs "REPEAT BUSINESS" I'd advise Moore Soulfood to get some experienced workers to deal with the public!! Now, on to the food...it was good! My first visit, I ordered the fried chicken dinner and the pork chop dinner. Everything was hot and fresh and well seasoned, the sides included In both meals were mac&chz(very good), yams (perfectly sweet), green beans(excellent) and the collar greens (TOO SALTY BUT STILL GOOD), chicken wings were seasoned well( kinda small though and the pork chops were (perfect)!! Next day, I came back and ordered the "chicken and shrimp alfredo" with veggies and cajun seasoning (It was delicious but AGAIN, a little bit TOO SALTY) the total was $22.00 and some change for that meal but they give you ALOT! I had no silverware or napkjns in my bag and the customer service was dry again the SECOND DAY but all in all, I will go back but they need to work on customer service and the sodium balance in the greens and alfredo. *SORRY I DON'T HAVE PICS OF THE FRIED CHICKEN MEAL OR THE PORK CHOP MEAL** P.S. The alfredo should be on the menu EVERYDAY!!!! Fried Chicken meal w/two sides $16.00 Pork Chop meal(2 chops) w/two sides $16.00 Chicken and shrimp alfredo $22.00+ I ordered the collar greens on the side $3.50 (small size )

Originally I had 6 pieces of meat in the meal but I thankfully checked my bag as directed to on the signs. I inquired and the container was filled with what I should have gotten as a dinner. Maybe the staff member was new that initial did my order. They were polite. More than 1/2 was tough, some even so much not edible. Disappointing because I really wanted some rib tips. The cornbread was dry and crumbly. Cornbread is not difficult or long cooking so I'm not sure why I'd get old cornbread midday on a Saturday. Or they need to retool the recipe. In my head, I would think that portions would be sampled by the cook to ensure consistency, but I've never worked in a fast past restaurant so I don't know the process. Sides: dressing was good and not overly salty. Yams had too much sugar for me. I bought another meal for someone to eat and I hope it was better. A 1/2 chicken meal was $20. Overall, not with the $25+ tax I paid today. The staff was pleasant. The area was kept clean. However, the meat was a failure. I would be fine paying $25 of the meat was cooked correctly. I would not recommend going here for bbq as they have a not cash return policy. It is store credit or a gift card even if the food is poorly made. Likely need to go to a bbq specific restaurant next time. I have no plans on driving way back to the restaurant and just count it as a loss. The prices are equivalent to sit down restaurants without the service or quality.

We arrived shortly after they opened. There was almost no one there when we arrived. It was the most unorganized mess of an experience I've ever had. No joke. We ordered 2 drinks and the Aretha Franklin Chicken, 2 sides, and cornbread. We were told it would be 20-30 minutes until the chicken was ready. No problem. After 30 minutes we still didn't have our drinks, but the waitress reappeared to tell us our drinks would be out soon and the chicken would be ready in about 20 minutes. In the end, it took about 40 minutes to get our drinks and 1 1/2 hours to get our chicken. Even paying the bill took lots of effort. There were multiple customers who went inside to try to find the waitress and pay their bill. After 20 minutes of searching we were finally able to pay and leave. I'm all in for a not-rushed experience, but there's no reason to leave people baking in the sun for 40 minutes before you can bring them their drinks. We should have left, but we were locked in to discover if the chicken was as good as promised. The answer is no, unfortunately. It was fine. Very tender, but seemingly no seasoning at all. Also, they were out of cornbread and didn't have the ingredients to make our drinks the right way. The entertainment was good. We were outside, so there was a one man band blues singer who was pretty good. I hope Bert's can get it together. It's a great concept and a great location. If you go, have plenty of time and be prepared to wait. Perhaps you should bring a few drinks and snacks with you to fill the time until they can serve you.

(We were only waiting on 1 person) I was skeptical about trying this place out, especially after reading the reviews on Yelp, but I decided to give it a try anyway. I thought this place was only takeout, but to my surprise they have a large dining room. When we were seated, the table was not entirely clean. We were sat by the windows, which were extremely cold due to the air seeping in from an old mail slot. (It looks like it was an entrance at one point) During this time in the winter, it made it extremely cold and uncomfortable and while I was eating, I had one hand in my pocket literally. Anyways, the food was AMAZING! Everything was well seasoned, just mmm mmm good! In the reviews I read, I saw that a lot of people were complaining about the portion size being too small; I think that's with the takeout orders because the portions they give when you dine in were very generous. I had enough for leftovers for another meal. The service was not entirely slow, but once they were crowded, it did become hard to find our server after that. Overall solid 4 out of 5 stars.
