We were able to replace the sides with more rice at no extra charge for the plate which was really nice. Honestly, it was way too much rice, so next time I'd just omit the sides altogether if I was to reorder this. The mini katsu was more than enough as well. Each piece was perfectly crispy. I loved the steamed veggies. They were unseasoned and balanced out the katsu very well. Worth the price (which was very accurate to the meal and the quality).

It doesn't have that "char" to it that Hawaiian's cook it like (if you know, you know), but it was cooked almost perfectly imo. The rice wasn't a true Hawaiian sticky rice, but close enough. It almost had more of an Asian texture to it. But it was still good. There was a lot of food, of which I'd expect from a Hawaiian spot. The teriyaki sauce was pretty tasty. It wasn't the best teriyaki sauce I've ever had, but it's a lot better than Ono's Hawaiian BBQ (their chicken teriyaki is trash!). The service was good and fast! The inside was clean and tidy. Was it the best I've ever had? No. But it's good enough to share it with my friends, invite them to go, and go back myself. I'll need to try the chicken katsu and bbq short ribs next time.

As soon as I walked in, the restaurant smelled amazing, so I knew I was in for a good treat. I ordered the garlic shrimp and garlic chicken mix plate with a few regular malasadas. The garlic shrimp was pungent, packed with flavor, and very delicious. It was prepared in a way that reminded me of the food trucks I have had in Hawaii. The garlic chicken was another highlight--super moist on the inside with a nice crispy exterior. The mac salad, unfortunately, was a miss for me. It was really runny and did not have the traditional mayo-based flavor I was expecting. The malasadas were good, but not the best I have had. They were on the denser side and I think they could have been fluffier. I also regret not getting them with a filling! Overall, there were definitely some tasty items, and I am looking forward to coming back to try the kalbi ribs or poké nachos next time.

I remember back in the 80s Aloha Kitchen was the only gig in town and their grindes was supa ono. Their food sucks now. They always over cook the chicken katsu so now they over cooked the bulkogi. As of today 8.5.26, no manapua available. This may be a blessing in disguise. This place has fallen really far from what they used to be when Ray and Lynn ran it. It had a good balance of rice and Spam and I'd definitely order it again. A couple things kept it from being 5 stars. I asked for rice only, but they still gave me mac salad and vegetables, which was a little annoying. I also wasn't a big fan of the mac salad. The plate looks huge at first, but I'd guess there was around a pound and a half of warm lettuce underneath the meat, so it isn't quite as much food as it seems. It also would've been nice if the chicken came pre-cut since it was a little inconvenient having to cut it myself. Even with that, the portions are still solid and I'd say it stacks up pretty well with Hawaiian Bros. It's definitely a different style, but I'd come back.
