I've dined in twice and gotten taken out once. The food didn't taste as good when I took it to go and I don't think I ordered the right things. Both times when we dined in there were plenty of tables available and our food came out quickly. The items that we enjoyed were the salt and pepper fish fillet, sizzling seafood and Japanese tofu, Szechuan style green beans, and sizzling beef tenderloin with black pepper sauce. The salt and pepper fish fillet was perfectly seasoned and wasn't coated in too much batter. The sizzling seafood and Japanese tofu had shrimp, fish, and squid and the tofu was so soft and melts in your mouth. The Szechuan style green beans were comparable to other Chinese restaurants but still good. The dry chili chicken was mediocre as it seems like they use chicken breast so it isn't as juicy. However, they don't incorporate as many chili peppers into the actual dish so there is plenty of chicken. I didn't care for the house spicy sautéed spare ribs, ginger and onion chicken casserole, or Singapore noodles (ordered non-spicy which was a mistake so it was lacking in flavor). Overall, would come back to dine in but probably would pass on taking food to go as it just didn't taste the same. read more

Went here for dinner and had an absolutely phenomenal experience. The interior is stunning, super clean and provides a really nice ambiance. The food was BOMB. Our waiter gave us great recommendations and everything we tried was exceptional. Portions will make you happy and the prices are even better. The Sizzling Beef Tenderloin with Teriyaki Sauce was my personal favorite--absolutely heavenly. We also tried the Beef with Flat Rice Noodles and the Xiao Long Bao, and both were delicious! Their smoothies/boba are also really good. Well-priced and you get a big portion. My personal favorite is the mango coconut bubble milk with boba! I can't recommend this place enough. Me and my friend came here for lunch. Upon entering the restaurant, there was no patrons inside other than the chef who was sitting there talking loudly. The elder waitress was rushing to take our orders and upon receiving it she did not get us the right items . I had wanted less oil and salt but it seems like they' did the opposite. She also recited what I said completely opposite of what I had ordered. I asked more peppers= it was translated as less meat: It was salty and oily.the cumin lamb that I had ordered was brought out as deep fried lamb instead. Seems our server was not paying attention at all to our orders and just jot down whatever she felt was what we had wanted . My best friend and I dined here prior to a concert last night. The staff was friendly and efficient in serving our food. The atmosphere was pleasant. The Kung Pao chicken was flavorful and tasty but not as spicy as I was hoping. The egg rice could have benefited from more seasoning and was slightly dry, but it was satisfactory. I'm hovering between a 3 and a 4 rating for this place... they have some pros and some cons. I got the lunch special Dry Chili Fish Filet, and it was good. Tasted spicy, rich, and savory. It was greasy and heavy like typical Chinese takeout food. The rice was a little disappointing, as it was "fried" but there were no other ingredients in it. The crab rangoon was average, tasting like a normal one you'd find at a Chinese buffet. The price is almost $10 even for the lunch special, which seems wildly overpriced to me. I don't know the market, though, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and round up to 4. There was nothing wrong with their food, but I also don't think it's an amazing deal. Some friends of mine live near ML Kitchen and suggested I go here for Chinese food. It is a nice, date I say trendy, Chinese restaurant in a popular area. I would also note that it is a lot cleaner than most Chinese restaurants I have been too. What I ordered: I saw that if you checked in on yelp, you got a free appetizer. They were all out of the app they were advertising so they brought crab Rangoon. The crab Rangoon was some of the best I have had in Chicago! For my meal I got the orange tofu combo. (Like orange chicken, but with tofu instead.) It came with rice and crab Rangoon! I enjoyed the meal a lot. The portions were big so I was able to take some home as leftovers. Sad. Untrustworthy. Unethical. Ordered from here for Christmas dinner. The chicken was either rotten or the sauce was. Just a weird funky rotten egg smell. Shrimp fried rice was obvious stale with hard pieces of rice and 1 bite of a shrimp let me know it was old. My wife and I decided to toss the entire meal before realizing its better to save in case we get food poisoning. Tipped $15 given its Christmas on a $30 order. What a shame as it was our 1st time here but we won't ever be coming back. Its still too early to tell if we got food poisoning from the few bites we did try. The jury is still out on if this will become a go-to, but I liked my first takeout experience. I got beef with peppers in black bean sauce - pretty tasty, very tender beef (almost not beef-like in its tenderness), the peppers and onions were cooked well, and the sauce wasn't too salty like the stereotypical Chinese restaurant (I passed on the rice and still didn't find it salty). There's no spiciness marker next to this one on the menu, but there were some jalapeños in there that provided a good kick. So good!! Not sure if it was primarily caused by our hunger but the food. was. delicious! We came here on a random Saturday because we wanted to check out what the UIC campus was like, got hungry, and stopped in for a bite. Man what a treat! It's incredibly clean in the restaurant, the servers are attentive (I wouldn't say friendly, but not rude/mean either), our food came quickly and was steaming hot, and the PRICE. We enjoy finding places with great value and I would say this place is near the top of that list. We got the walnut shrimp ($13 I believe, so much cheaper than other places), a noodle soup, and an eel rice dish. The portions were decent given the price - I feel like the amount of food they served is on par with other Asian food places, but a couple dollars cheaper. (re: great value!) While I would hesitate to say that this is the *best* Chinese food I've ever had, I think it's more than perfect for a quick bite, takeout, or even a casual date since the interior is very nice and clean. I also appreciate that even though there weren't that many people in the restaurant while we were there on a Saturday afternoon, the servers gave us space but were also quick to respond when we waved them down. ML Kitchen recently opened in Little Italy to bring forth some much needed Chinese food competition. We were lacking in this sense and they've helped fill this void just a bit. I ordered takeout from them the other night and it was a pretty good experience. The restaurant itself was quite lavish and looked like a hip place to dine in (notes for the future). Menu items were on the cheaper side and they offer a variety of Cantonese/Szechuan cuisine that you wouldn't typically find elsewhere. Despite this, I went for the Salt & Pepper Wings ($6.99 for six) and the Minced Beef Over Rice ($6.99). Admitedly, the wings were really not my favorite. I found the taste to be lackluster and the wings to be very small for the price you pay. On the flip side, my minced beef was really good and the portion size was excellent. Note that some photos on Yelp show the "minced beef" but that's actually the beef & egg meal, so don't get confused. Funny enough, one thing I noticed was that their receipt looks exactly the same as Jade Court. I can't say it's simply a coincidence since they're both Chinese restaurants, but hey, each one is pretty good in my eyes. The next time I swing by here, I will be sure to follow my gut instincts and order the Cantoense dish that I came for instead of trying to branch out and order wings. read more

ML Kitchen is a great go-to Chinese spot that has something for everyone, pricing is solid, and they do delivery too. I was looking around Taylor Street for a restaurant to visit and order a take out order. I love Chinese food, so I was nervous trying one outside Chinatown. The restaurant is very clean, also well decorated and laid out for diners to enjoy. I plan to come back with some friends to sit on the patio on a nice summer day when I'm craving more Chinese food. I ordered the pepper steak with vegetables, upgraded with a shrimp fried rice, and had some eggrolls. Portions were good, food was delicious, and I felt I got my money's worth. Chinatown isn't too far for me, but this can deliver and they have a number of dishes I like and want to try, so I encourage you to patron them too as I plan my next visit. read more
