My husband and I visited Mott St for a celebratory dinner and the vibes did not disappoint! I love then Michelin Bibs give off a casual atmosphere that is still elevated in flavors, presentation, and quality of ingredients. It's recommended that parties view the menu as family style and share plates. He recommended 4-6 dishes for us two and we were FULL after our 4. To start, we got the Crispy Chili Cauliflower which was fresh, bright, then slightly sweet and spicy. This was the perfect summertime starter and was a great portion. We also tried the Soft Shell Crab Special. This portion was definitely for 2 people. There was a nice crisp on the outside and I thoroughly enjoyed the subtly tart sauce they paired with the crab. For mains, we got the Mott St Burger & Stuffed Cabbage dishes. The Mott St Burger is highly rated in Chicago as a top contender. The bun was soft, toppings added a good flavor, and meat was juicy. The Stuffed Cabbage was not a favorite of mine but my husband absolutely loved it! To finish, we got the Miso Chocolate Torte. Save room for dessert because this was amazing! I would have considered other options more but our server highly recommended this one. It did not disappoint! Overall, this was a good dinner spot in Wicker Park. It has a great casual vibe inside and on the outside patio. Pricing was also very fair for portion sizes and quality of dishes.

Great venue & vibes, family style, fun servers (mine asked immediately if I had any allergies or aversions and marked the menu for me of what to avoid). I don't prefer fish, but this place made me enjoy it! Great flavors in food and drinks. The burger others had looked tasty.
I loved Mott St!!!! We went before a show at Salt Shed & it was perfect that we could walk on over to the venue right after our dinner. My favorite thing we got was the garlic rice & crispy cauliflower. The tofu was good but not amazing. Our service was good and the patio was very fun to sit on even on a super hot day. Can't wait to go back here!!!!
Stopped in on a Saturday for a brunch! Mott St is very busy so highly recommend booking a reservation for table service. We sat at the bar and they offered full service. Ambiance of the restaurant was great with intimate lighting and music playing on speakers. I will say that the acoustics of the restaurant make it a bit hard to hear the person you are sitting next to. We ordered the Mott burger and the Papaya salad. Both were great options and paired really well together. The salad was refreshing, flavorful and a bit of sweet+savory. The burger was the highlight, cooked to perfection and the cheese felt like it was melted right into the burger. The sweet potato crisps added a good crunch to the burger. We enjoyed our visit at Mott St!
It was my 2nd time to this place. Food is very good. Not many vegetarian options but whatever they have is good except the Silken Tofu dish Love their Oyster Mushrooms. They are so so good, but very small quantity Brussel Sprouts was ok not so great Crispy Chili Cauliflower is also so so good If u like garlic, their Garlic Rice are very good too Deji Delight was good too. And their Lichi Mocktail is fine too.
We were able to snag a walk-in table and were seated on the patio, which made for a great atmosphere. The cocktails were creative, refreshing, and a fun way to start the meal. The standout was definitely the burger, it may honestly be one of the best burgers in Chicago. We also loved the cauliflower and the pork belly. Both dishes were packed with flavor, though I think they'd be even better with a side of rice to balance the richness. The only dish that didn't quite land for me was the shrimp noodles. They were a bit sweeter than I expected, and the flavors didn't come together as well as the other dishes.
How have I never been to Mott Street and how did we get lucky enough to arrive and be seated prior to 7 p.m. so we could still order their AMAZING burgers? (They are not served after 7 p.m.) Mott street has a small indoor space and a large outdoor space and every seat/table was occupied. It was an eclectic crowd and the vibe was young and hip. We ordered fewer plates than was recommended by our waiter and we were all plenty full by the end of our meal and still had leftovers. For six of us, we ordered three burgers (one couple shared theirs), the jackfruit bulgogi entree, two orders of garlic rice, crispy chili cauliflower, everything shrimp noodles, the imperial rolls and budino to be shared for dessert. What can I say about those burgers? Wow! Just wow. I had an egg on mine and when you pressed on the bun, the yoke of the egg would drip down. It was a messy burger to eat but with, hoisin aioli, pickled jalapeño, dill pickles, miso butter onions, american cheese and sweet potato shoestrings on the side, it was beyond delicious. Other favorites were the crispy chili cauliflower and the everything shrimp noodles. Nice, simple presentation of all the food and everything had great flavor. We were a little underwhelmed with the budino, but we loved everything else. The spacing of the food coming out wasn't always great. (We ordered two garlic rice dishes and one came early on and one very late in the meal), and the jackfruit entree came way after everything else, but it still would never deter me from coming back. It also had limited vegetarian entrees, with most vegetarian items being side dishes. It also wasn't cheap but that is all restaurants these days. A 20% gratuity was included in our party of six. Overall it was a great dining experience and understandable why they are known for their burgers and why it is hard to get a reservation!
My go-to at Mott St is the crispy chili cauliflower and their burger. The burger is enormous that comes with sweet potato crisps and a pickle spear, and it is juicy and flavorful. The cauliflower is seasoned with szechuan pepper corn but the sweetness offsets the spiciness and the numbing of the peppercorn and I love the flavors. I also tried the shrimp noodles and the kimchi udon, and I love the sweetness and the garlic of the shrimp noodles, with the shrimp providing a great seafood flavor. The kimchi udon was also creamy and flavorful, i just wish there was more!
The burger lives up to the hype. It's maybe a bit more greasy than I'd prefer but the flavors and textures are incredible. The service was quick and although I sat at the bar the patio looked lovely. It was very easy to get a spot at the bar but if you are a group I'd make a reservation because they were booked and busy at 5:30 mid week!
Came back after 5 years to try the brunch here! I loved dinner here the first time, but I've heard great things about their day time menu! They serve the special burger for brunch as well as limited timing at night, so obviously we had to order that. Honestly, there were at least 4 mains that we were interested in, but ended up getting the avocado three layer dip and the kalbi steak & eggs as well. The avocado dip was so interesting, but I liked a new twist on your average avo toast. I appreciated the toasted bread for being crispy enough without being too hard that it cuts up your mouth. The kalbi was so tender and juicy and a pretty decent portion for the price! I wish the kimchi breakfast potatoes had more kimchi flavor! We made the mistake of eating the burger last. It was still delicious, but I know it would've been 10 times better if we ate it while it was hot. Beware of those jalapeños though! The burger had every flavor: sweet, salty, spicy, tangy, creamy. Basically something for everyone. Service was prompt and friendly despite it being totally packed in there! Reservations are definitely a MUST. Free parking all down the street was also a plus!
The cabbage is what their known for but honestly thing it's just alright. My favorite however was the steamed fish. You wrap it in the sesame leaf and it tasted amazing.

The interior was pretty sleek and it was packed around 6:30pm on a weeknight. It's definitely the kind of place to go when you want to have a dinner out that feels like an occasion without getting dressed up. Most of the dishes were served family style, so I recommend going with a group if you can! We tried the chef's special menu for 4 people, which had about 8 courses at a great price. To drink, I started with the white lotus, which did not come to play! It was very strong and barely sweet- maybe a bit much for me, but if that's your vibe, you'll like it. Appetizers included the Thai papaya salad and imperial rolls. The first was solid and the rolls were extra hot and crispy. I enjoyed the perilla leaves that they were wrapped in. Next came the garlic rice with whole roasted cloves of garlic, sauteed mushrooms, everything wings, and chili cauliflower. The rice was super fluffy and garlicky, but the miso butter mushrooms are not to be missed! We definitely drank a little bit of the sauce. The wings could have been a little crispier, but I really liked the sweet and spicy Korean style sauce. The crispy chili cauliflower was sweet and actually tasted a bit like orange chicken- we demolished it and this may have been my favorite dish of the whole night! Finally, we had the mentaiko kimchi udon, steak kalbi, and ordered one of their burgers on the side because why not. We agreed that the bonito flakes on the udon covered up the kimchi flavor a bit and wished it was stronger, but I liked the creaminess of the sauce. The steak kalbi had a great flavor and sauce, but I do think it could've been more tender. The burger was as good as it looked and indeed one of the best I've had in Chicago. I loved the balance between sweet and savory, and all of the flavors were balanced very well. We ended the meal with the seasonal dessert, which was sticky rice with strawberries and fermented rice. I thought it made for a refreshing end, but we agreed that it would've been even better served cold rather than hot. Overall, this was a very fun and great experience with delicious food! I would absolutely return and recommend paying a visit.
Really enjoyed Mott St.! The Mott Burger was definitely my favorite savory item ! I got it without jalapeños or pickles, and it was SO juicy and tender. The slightly sweet bun, extra-melty cheese, and buttery miso onions were perfect together. 9/10 The Everything Wings were huge, extra crispy and yummy with a sweet glazed flavor. I'd recommend the smallest order as an appetizer. They were good, but pretty standard glazed wings, so probably not something I'd specifically come back for. 7.5/10 I really wanted to love the Strawberry Daifuku Sticky Rice because I love mango sticky rice and strawberries, but it was a little too minty for me and I wasn't a fan of the dark rice. The staff was SO accommodating and let me swap it for the Miso Chocolate Torte, which was AMAZING--rich, chocolatey and sweet with fresh raspberries that balanced it perfectly. 10/10 Overall, great food and even better hospitality. I'd definitely come back, especially for that burger and chocolate torte!

Mott Street was an unexpected surprise for me. Their Central Asian-inspired fusion cuisine immediately impressed me with its bold flavors, attention to detail, and overall quality. I started with the "Everything Wings," which were cooked to perfection--crispy on the outside while remaining incredibly juicy inside. Every bite delivered an impressive depth of flavor, with soy, jaggery, and dried chili playing a major role. The accompanying tzatziki was a great touch, adding a cool, creamy contrast to the wings. The garlic was simple but effective, allowing the other flavors to shine. The garlic fried rice was easily one of the highlights of the meal and some of the best I've had in quite some time. The roasted garlic bulbs elevated the dish, adding a deep, rich flavor that made it especially memorable. The Mentaiko Kimchi Udon was savory with a subtle kick of spice. I enjoyed the flavor profile, although I would have liked the heat to come through more consistently with each bite. Positives our waitress was friendly and nice. Some good things. Hhhmm take away I can really say I would return. Well the Bronx menu is nice and reasonable priced. Food is average. Let's start with the hamburger. It's been picked as one of the best in Chicago. Well if u want Asian sauces on it. Almost 30 bugs for average hamburger. The brunch which is traditional food, breakfast was ok per my sister in law but the cabbage salad was spiced. The appetizer avocado was ok. But the was not fresh nor the toast sour dough. Nephew had the fish. Average. Also table of five automatically was considered a big table so they placed 20%% top. Service was off two entrees came late. So Wait a minute I think our nice waitress said she covered the birthday gift. But that appeared on the bill. Ok now that I think of it the noice level was high as well they closed the windows and I could see two bees flying inside. Ok my original 3 is down to 2. Sorry neighborhood diner. This place really shocked me with the variety and creativity of the dishes. I went to try the famous burger, but found out the hard way that they only serve it at limited times and areas of the restaurant (weird). However, my experience was not ruined because the rest of the food was also amazing. Making a reservation will save you a headache. Staff was really nice as well. Food comes out quick. The place is rather small but the spacing of tables is planned out well, and it makes it feel cozy. read more

Met up with a friend here for brunch. We had a 1:15pm reservation. The place is super cute and there is city street parking available. They have a cocktail menu and server confirmed all wine/cocktails are gluten free. The server asked if I had celiac and confirmed to avoid cross contamination. She was very knowledgeable and came back with a marked up menu of what I could have. My friend and I shared the GF coconut pancakes, kimchi rice, and kimchi potatoes. We also each had the blood orange spritz. The food was fantastic! Highly recommend. read more

Great Father's Day brunch! They had crayons for the kids and spacious seating. The kids' food (mini pancakes) came out fast, which every parent knows is super important. The pork belly Benedict was delicious. The burger was tasty, but I'm surprised people rate this burger so highly in the realm of Chicago burgers. Probably wouldn't be in my top ten. read more

The ambiance is dim with candles on the table, a little loud with faint music playing, but still a fun vibe overall. 7.5/10. Service was amazing. Our server was super nice and attentive, and other staff kept checking in and refilling water which I really appreciated 9/10. The brussels sprouts were just okay. A little too oily and missing some flavor, but actually tasted way better when dipped in the wing sauce. 4/10. The everything wings were delicious flavor-wise, just wish they were crispier. 6/10. The fire chicken was SO good. The sweet gochujang sauce was amazing, the tteokbokki had the perfect chewy texture, and there was plenty of chicken. Super comforting dish. 9.5/10. The Mott burger + egg... easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. The hoisin aioli, sweet potato shoestrings, and over easy egg all worked perfectly together. Such a unique flavor combo. 9.7/10. Visited for the first time on a Friday around 12:30 PM. The place was absolutely packed, so making a reservation is a must for the lunch rush! We were pleasantly surprised by a nice brunch menu that wasn't listed online and ordered a variety of dishes to share. The Highlights: Mott Burger, Kalbi & Eggs, and Shrimp & Grits: All the meats and seafood were incredibly tender, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. Coconut Pancakes & Donuts: The three massive pancakes with hibiscus butter were amazing, and the warm lemon poppyseed donuts are a must-eat while hot! Gai Lan & Papaya Salad: Great savory and sweet/sour flavors with a nice kick. The Lowlights: Sumo Congee ($19): We upgraded to the "Sumo" size, but the portion wasn't actually that big for the price. Issan Sausage: Had a gamey taste that just wasn't for us (though the Sweet Longanisa was great). We paired everything with some refreshing lychee blossom and ginger beers. Mott St has some seriously good food, but the service during our visit left a lot to be desired and that's the reason it's getting 3 stars from me. We came in for brunch and ordered the Kalbi Steak and Eggs, the Fish Filet Sandwich, and the Mott Burger. The food itself was excellent. The kalbi steak was tender and flavorful, the fish filet sandwich was crispy and well balanced, and the Mott Burger absolutely lived up to the hype. Every dish tasted great and you can see why people recommend this place. Unfortunately the service didn't match the quality of the food. Our waitress accidentally spilled a drink on one of my friends at the table, which felt pretty careless. There were also a couple mistakes with our drink orders. The biggest issue was that we specifically asked for a non-alcoholic beer and were served the alcoholic version instead. That's a pretty big mistake, especially when someone is intentionally avoiding alcohol. Excellence! Chef Kim knows his stuff! Wok-Smoked Gai Lan (5): Any dish that makes you like something you didn't like before is great. This was the case for us. Both my wife and I didn't like eggplant. You wouldn't know this was eggplant unless I told you. The edges had a nice firm bite to it and it was soft inside (not mushy). I think generally the texture is a turn-off for us, but this was nailed. The gai lan of course was tasty as well without too much bitterness. Just enough to give you a nice contrast. Excellent! Crispy Tofu (5): Another winner. Tofu was indeed crispy and it was very soft inside. Almost like it melted away. Excellent light flavors as well. Great starter dish. Char Siu Pork Belly (5): My personal favorite. The Char Siu flavors really shined through and the pork belly was done perfectly. Crispy, tender, with just enough fat to give you a nice flavor and mouth feel. Everything Wings (4.5): If I had to nitpick, this was just a tad lower on my scale than the other dishes. It was still delicious with moist chicken and crispy skin. It's the entire wing so there's more to munch on. They crisp the skin perfectly so you can actually munch on the smaller parts of the wing which wasn't burnt or dry like most places. Hanger Steak Kalbi (5): This one was right up there with the pork belly for me. Charred nicely and definitely had a good KBBQ flavor to it. How can you go wrong with Hanger Steak? Delicious! Mott Burger (5): Believe the hype, this thing was delicious! If there was a burger than can melt in your mouth at the same time as being crispy with tons of flavors tying it together, this is it. Everything Shrimp Noodles (5): The huge pieces of shrimp is what you notice first. Giant and moist. Garlic noodles can compliment almost anything IMO. This was another fantastic dish. Stuffed Cabbage (5): This was interesting. Almost couldn't tell it was cabbage. It was chopped up and stir fried or something. Paired with some rice and some super delicious sauce. I was pretty amazed this was cabbage. Chocolate Miso Torte (5): I'm a sucker for chocolate. This was amazing. You have some contrast with a slightly salty miso. Chocolate is rich and smooth at the same time. Strawberry Sticky Rice (4.5): I'm a fan of sticky rice. Generally thats a savory offering. Finally got to try the famous Mott burger and it definitely lived up to the hype! I don't normally love sauce on my burger, but all of the toppings and the sauce came together so nicely to create an amazing umami flavor. Aside from the burger, we ordered the crispy cauliflower and the everything noodles with shrimp. I soul recommend the cauliflower as it had great flavor and was perfectly cooked. The ambiance was real flavorful. but I gotta say... that "dirty rice" really pissed me off the plantain was not soft or sweet but the rice was somehow fishy??? maybe let the Caribbean's do that lol. Beef patties were cooked well done - if that's your thing, you'll have no issue with it but imo it makes it too dry... the bun was supposed to be a Hawaiian bun, but it lacked the softness and butteriness I expected the hoisin mayo, pickles, and sweated onions carried the entire flavor profile of the burger (finally some difference in taste with each bite! During our visit to downtown Chicago, we dined at Mott St and had an overall enjoyable experience, especially as vegetarians. The restaurant was very busy but we had reservation . The crowd showed popularity and good food of restaurant. We ordered a variety of vegetarian dishes, including tofu, garlic rice, crispy cauliflower, and oyster mushrooms. Every dish was well prepared and full of flavor. The crispy cauliflower was nicely crisped , while the garlic rice was aromatic and comforting. The crispy cauliflower was perfectly crunchy on the outside and tender inside, making it one of the highlights of our meal. The oyster mushrooms were also delicious, cooked just right and packed with rich, savory taste. The quality of ingredients and presentation were impressive, and it was clear that care was taken in preparing vegetarian options, which we really appreciated.staff is good and explained vegetarian food properly One small drawback was when we asked for a burger, but we were told that burgers are not served at the table after 7 pm , for burger you have to sit in bar area . The place offers a fusion take. The food is average, not entirely sure whether I simply order the wrong dishes given the ratings. We had decent service, nothing short if expectation in casual dinning. The ambiance is perhaps the best or notable part. The vibe is cool, very eclectic that fits the food style. Could this be the best burger in Chicago? (I think so). My friend and I went at 11:30 AM on a Sunday. Even though we had reservations there was plenty of seating! We sat indoors right by the window. The interior was really cute and definitely picture-worthy. Our server was super attentive, friendly, and made splitting a few things really easy by bringing two plates. (And her outfit was super cool too!) The food was the biggest highlight. We ordered the coconut pancakes, Mott burger, and a side of kimchi potatoes. I especially loved the hibiscus butter, coconut maple syrup, and the sweet potato shoestrings on the burger. I can't wait to come back and recommend this as a must-try burger in Chicago to my friends. read more
Had a great brunch experience recently at the very popular Mott St in Wicker Park. Came on a late Sunday morning where the sun was shining brightly on their very nice patio. We had a lovely server in which I unfortunately dont recall her name. She was great and definitely let us know which were the best goodies on the menu. The cuisine here is Asian fusion so I came ready for some kimchi! I started a couple of tasty cocktails...they do good here! The Kimchi Fried Rice spoke to me so I went that route along with a side of Kimchi Breakfast Potatoes. Both were very tasty and not too spicy...crazy flavor jumping off here. The aioli that comes with the potatoes goes very well with both dishes. Take advantage of that very nice patio while the weather is still nice! read more

Another review here it's been a few years since I've been back and the burger just still hits It's my fav burger ever and brought my best friends from out of town and they loved it If you come here and don't get the burger... what're you doing?? At least split it to try it lol I think they stop serving at or after 7PM so double check online or call if you're going specifically for that!! read more
We'd been hearing for a while that this place has one of the best burgers in Chicago, so it's been on our list to try! It's usually tough to get a weekend reservation, but we happened to be in the area on Saturday, checked for openings, and somehow snagged a last-minute spot right before heading over. When we arrived, there were already a few groups waiting outside for them to open, but they opened right on time and we were seated immediately. Orders were taken promptly, and the staff mentioned we'd need to order everything at once -- a little unusual, but not a big deal. The place filled up quickly, so we expected a bit of a wait, but our food came out within about 10 minutes! Service was excellent throughout -- our glasses were refilled constantly, and empty dishes cleared right away without us even needing to ask. We started with the crispy cauliflower -- I really liked the flavors, though I expected it to be fried and extra crispy. It was baked and a bit al dente for my taste, but still pretty good. Next up was the pork belly, which was fantastic -- great flavor and perfectly cooked. The fire chicken was interesting -- more like a soupy stew with rice cakes, chicken, and cheese. It had a mix of sweet and spicy flavors, not exactly my thing, but definitely unique. And finally, the star of the show -- the Mott Burger! Was able to get a last minute reservation on a Friday night, so that was very exciting! Notably, burgers aren't served after 7, so beware of that when you make a reservation. Even with no burger, this meal was great! Our server was friendly and attentive and the person who brought our dishes also gave context on the food and how to best enjoy each dish which I appreciated. Food + Bev: Started with the white lotus. To be fair, it says booze-forward and it is! Very gin forward rather than vodka, so this wasn't a favorite of mine, but it is described well on the menu and I just didn't internalize it well enough. Imperial Rolls: Like a egg roll lettuce wrap! I like creating each rolls and the addition of the crispy bean sprouts. Oyster Mushrooms: A nice little side dish. The miso butter is super rich, so the side size is perfect to not overdo it! Fire Chicken: A bit on the spicy side, but super flavorful. Loved the addition of the cheese in the dish, as well as the chwey rice cakes. Chicken is so juicy and tender. Wish it came with bread to dip. Stuffed Cabbage: Our server said it should be eaten like a lasagna which was super interesting! Great flavors here though kind of hard to cut. Garlic Shrimp + Noodles: My favorite dish we had! Loved how garlicky and saucy it was. Everything worked really well here. Would definitely get again! Went out for a birthday dinner and certainly sampled a lot of the menu! All and all a great time although some ticket times were looooong, especially for the whole fish. Started with crispy chili cauliflower which I really liked, especially the sauce it came with. Table enjoyed the texture of the tofu. I did not like the chili shrimp noodles, they were sweet and I desired spicy. Burgers were good but well done in terms of cook temp. I love the copious jalapeños and pickles it's came smothered with, but wasn't wild about the sauce on the buns. Finally, the star of the show was the whole fish branzino. Even though we waited for quite a while, it was worth it. Best part of the meal! For dessert the table sampled the strawberry sticky rice (just ok) and the chocolate torte (decadent and delicious). Service was excellent and he apologized for the excessive wait. I was surprised no manager came over though considering we were there for well over two hours. I experienced a delicious dinner service at Mott St with my party of 6. We sat outside on the patio, weather was nice and cool. This restaurant left an impression because people thought back on this meal very fondly. Menu has a lot of variety and I feel there is something for everyone. Since we were a big party we tried a lot of items on the menu. Some notable favorites were the pork belly, the crudo, the gailan, and the mushrooms. The oyster mushrooms came in this delicious miso butter and we had to get another order. The misoyaki butterfish was not the best for sharing and not one I would order next time. We tried one of each dessert but I was not wowed by any. The dragon shot aperitif was definitely entertaining! Our server was knowledgeable on the menu and very friendly. A con would be the confusing order some of the plates came out. It also took some time for them to take the empty plates off our tables. An absolutely amazing experience. I've eaten here twice for dinner and will probably eat here a million more times. First visit I sat at the bar, ordered the burger and a couple cocktails and had an amazing night pre-salt shed concert. Didnt have a reservation, but we were just a party of two and somehow two spots at the bar opened at the bar right as we walked in. Call that fate. Second visit with a party of 4, we sat outside and got the normal menu. Everything was delicious, good amount of vegetarian options, and exceptional mezcal cocktail.
