I ordered the stuffed cabbage and was surprised what they brought out. Pan seared napa kimchi, very moist and tender braised pork shoulder, sticky rice and kimchi broth, which was pretty mild. Once I got past the crunchy sticky rice and into the pork, the dish grew on me. The server said it's been on the menu since they opened 14 years ago, they call it Korean lasagna. Mott's is rumored to have one of the best burgers in town, but I'd had a Red Hot Ranch double the night before, I didn't try it. I saw a bunch of the being carried out to other diners, looked pretty good. They better be awesome for 25 bucks!
My pick for our weekly restaurant adventure. They are well known for their burger but once we saw it knew we could not handle though I saw delivered to lots of other tables. We had the dumplings, everything shrimp noodles and and stuffed cabbage. The dumplings were delish we both loved the shrimp noodles and we were on the fence with the stuffed cabbage. The pork shoulder stuffing was tender , I was expecting more cabbage. The staff were helpful and informative. We risked the patio with thunderstorms projected but they held off so the patio was lovely cool and not too loud. It was great to see some families with toddlers. I'd recommend.
My husband and I visited Mott St for a celebratory dinner and the vibes did not disappoint! I love then Michelin Bibs give off a casual atmosphere that is still elevated in flavors, presentation, and quality of ingredients. It's recommended that parties view the menu as family style and share plates. He recommended 4-6 dishes for us two and we were FULL after our 4. To start, we got the Crispy Chili Cauliflower which was fresh, bright, then slightly sweet and spicy. This was the perfect summertime starter and was a great portion. We also tried the Soft Shell Crab Special. This portion was definitely for 2 people. There was a nice crisp on the outside and I thoroughly enjoyed the subtly tart sauce they paired with the crab. For mains, we got the Mott St Burger & Stuffed Cabbage dishes. The Mott St Burger is highly rated in Chicago as a top contender. The bun was soft, toppings added a good flavor, and meat was juicy. The Stuffed Cabbage was not a favorite of mine but my husband absolutely loved it! To finish, we got the Miso Chocolate Torte. Save room for dessert because this was amazing! I would have considered other options more but our server highly recommended this one. It did not disappoint! Overall, this was a good dinner spot in Wicker Park. It has a great casual vibe inside and on the outside patio. Pricing was also very fair for portion sizes and quality of dishes.
Calling all foodies! This is a must if you are in Chicago! Great venue & vibes, family style, fun servers (mine asked immediately if I had any allergies or aversions and marked the menu for me of what to avoid). I don't prefer fish, but this place made me enjoy it! Great flavors in food and drinks. The burger others had looked tasty.
I loved Mott St!!!! We went before a show at Salt Shed & it was perfect that we could walk on over to the venue right after our dinner. My favorite thing we got was the garlic rice & crispy cauliflower. The tofu was good but not amazing. Our service was good and the patio was very fun to sit on even on a super hot day. Can't wait to go back here!!!!
Stopped in on a Saturday for a brunch! Mott St is very busy so highly recommend booking a reservation for table service. We sat at the bar and they offered full service. Ambiance of the restaurant was great with intimate lighting and music playing on speakers. I will say that the acoustics of the restaurant make it a bit hard to hear the person you are sitting next to. We ordered the Mott burger and the Papaya salad. Both were great options and paired really well together. The salad was refreshing, flavorful and a bit of sweet+savory. The burger was the highlight, cooked to perfection and the cheese felt like it was melted right into the burger. The sweet potato crisps added a good crunch to the burger. We enjoyed our visit at Mott St!
It was my 2nd time to this place. Food is very good. Not many vegetarian options but whatever they have is good except the Silken Tofu dish Love their Oyster Mushrooms. They are so so good, but very small quantity Brussel Sprouts was ok not so great Crispy Chili Cauliflower is also so so good If u like garlic, their Garlic Rice are very good too Deji Delight was good too. And their Lichi Mocktail is fine too.
We were able to snag a walk-in table and were seated on the patio, which made for a great atmosphere. The cocktails were creative, refreshing, and a fun way to start the meal. The standout was definitely the burger, it may honestly be one of the best burgers in Chicago. We also loved the cauliflower and the pork belly. Both dishes were packed with flavor, though I think they'd be even better with a side of rice to balance the richness. The only dish that didn't quite land for me was the shrimp noodles. They were a bit sweeter than I expected, and the flavors didn't come together as well as the other dishes.
How have I never been to Mott Street and how did we get lucky enough to arrive and be seated prior to 7 p.m. so we could still order their AMAZING burgers? (They are not served after 7 p.m.) Mott street has a small indoor space and a large outdoor space and every seat/table was occupied. It was an eclectic crowd and the vibe was young and hip. We ordered fewer plates than was recommended by our waiter and we were all plenty full by the end of our meal and still had leftovers. For six of us, we ordered three burgers (one couple shared theirs), the jackfruit bulgogi entree, two orders of garlic rice, crispy chili cauliflower, everything shrimp noodles, the imperial rolls and budino to be shared for dessert. What can I say about those burgers? Wow! Just wow. I had an egg on mine and when you pressed on the bun, the yoke of the egg would drip down. It was a messy burger to eat but with, hoisin aioli, pickled jalapeño, dill pickles, miso butter onions, american cheese and sweet potato shoestrings on the side, it was beyond delicious. Other favorites were the crispy chili cauliflower and the everything shrimp noodles. Nice, simple presentation of all the food and everything had great flavor. We were a little underwhelmed with the budino, but we loved everything else. The spacing of the food coming out wasn't always great. (We ordered two garlic rice dishes and one came early on and one very late in the meal), and the jackfruit entree came way after everything else, but it still would never deter me from coming back. It also had limited vegetarian entrees, with most vegetarian items being side dishes. It also wasn't cheap but that is all restaurants these days. A 20% gratuity was included in our party of six. Overall it was a great dining experience and understandable why they are known for their burgers and why it is hard to get a reservation!
My go-to at Mott St is the crispy chili cauliflower and their burger. The burger is enormous that comes with sweet potato crisps and a pickle spear, and it is juicy and flavorful. The cauliflower is seasoned with szechuan pepper corn but the sweetness offsets the spiciness and the numbing of the peppercorn and I love the flavors. I also tried the shrimp noodles and the kimchi udon, and I love the sweetness and the garlic of the shrimp noodles, with the shrimp providing a great seafood flavor. The kimchi udon was also creamy and flavorful, i just wish there was more!
The burger lives up to the hype. It's maybe a bit more greasy than I'd prefer but the flavors and textures are incredible. The service was quick and although I sat at the bar the patio looked lovely. It was very easy to get a spot at the bar but if you are a group I'd make a reservation because they were booked and busy at 5:30 mid week!
Came back after 5 years to try the brunch here! I loved dinner here the first time, but I've heard great things about their day time menu! They serve the special burger for brunch as well as limited timing at night, so obviously we had to order that. Honestly, there were at least 4 mains that we were interested in, but ended up getting the avocado three layer dip and the kalbi steak & eggs as well. The avocado dip was so interesting, but I liked a new twist on your average avo toast. I appreciated the toasted bread for being crispy enough without being too hard that it cuts up your mouth. The kalbi was so tender and juicy and a pretty decent portion for the price! I wish the kimchi breakfast potatoes had more kimchi flavor! We made the mistake of eating the burger last. It was still delicious, but I know it would've been 10 times better if we ate it while it was hot. Beware of those jalapeños though! The burger had every flavor: sweet, salty, spicy, tangy, creamy. Basically something for everyone. Service was prompt and friendly despite it being totally packed in there! Reservations are definitely a MUST. Free parking all down the street was also a plus!
The cabbage is what their known for but honestly thing it's just alright. My favorite however was the steamed fish. You wrap it in the sesame leaf and it tasted amazing.
I experienced a delicious dinner service at Mott St with my party of 6. We sat outside on the patio, weather was nice and cool. This restaurant left an impression because people thought back on this meal very fondly. Menu has a lot of variety and I feel there is something for everyone. Since we were a big party we tried a lot of items on the menu. Some notable favorites were the pork belly, the crudo, the gailan, and the mushrooms. The oyster mushrooms came in this delicious miso butter and we had to get another order. The misoyaki butterfish was not the best for sharing and not one I would order next time. We tried one of each dessert but I was not wowed by any. The dragon shot aperitif was definitely entertaining! Our server was knowledgeable on the menu and very friendly. A con would be the confusing order some of the plates came out. It also took some time for them to take the empty plates off our tables. But, I liked how we didn't really feel rushed whereas some places like to get you in and out fast. read more
An absolutely amazing experience. I've eaten here twice for dinner and will probably eat here a million more times. First visit I sat at the bar, ordered the burger and a couple cocktails and had an amazing night pre-salt shed concert. Didnt have a reservation, but we were just a party of two and somehow two spots at the bar opened at the bar right as we walked in. Call that fate. Second visit with a party of 4, we sat outside and got the normal menu. Everything was delicious, good amount of vegetarian options, and exceptional mezcal cocktail. This is one of the best burgers I've had in the city. Definitely worth checking out. Be warned that the burger is only served til 7. read more

The first time I tried Mott St was for the famous burger and I was blown away. It easily ranks among the best burgers I've ever had. Every element was perfection: the sweet potato shoestrings, hoisin aioli, pickled jalapeños, and rich miso butter all came together in a mouthwatering, unforgettable bite. This is a must-try. If you're planning to go for dinner, keep in mind that the burger isn't listed on the main dinner menu, it's available on the bar menu only and served until 7pm. Beyond the burger, I highly recommend the Mentaiko Kimchi Udon. The menu is extensive, with so many creative dishes that I'm already looking forward to trying on my next visit. Service was prompt, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I'll definitely be back for more of their Asian-inspired dishes. If you're building your list of great restaurants in Chicago, this one deserves to be on your list! read more

Mott St is a great brunch spot! They have a large outdoor patio; however, it was super hot and not very shaded so we chose to sit inside. Mott St has a full bar and some fun brunch drinks. I ended up ordering a cinnamon tea that was really tasty. Our server was really nice and the food came out surprisingly fast! They have an asian fusion menu with multiple vegetarian options to order from. Eggs benedict is my favorite breakfast food, and their version was eggplant benedict. It came with oyster mushrooms, eggplant, greens, and a spicy sweet miso glaze. It was reallllllly good! I've seen restaurants have lots of fun versions of eggs benedict but they're always meat based. This was the first time I've had one with eggplants and mushrooms, and it's easily made my top 3 eggs benedict in the city! I will definitely be coming back here! I would love to try the jackfruit skillet or the coconut pancakes. read more

12 year Michelin contender for a reason... the menu is small, but every single item needs to be eaten. Get the burger. Get the sticky rice. Enjoy the cocktails. Amazing food. We were blown away. Top dishes for us were the pork belly, charred cabbage, kimchi udon, and steak kalbi. We also got the garlic rice, calamari ceviche, and brussel sprouts. All good as well. It ended up being a good amount for the 5 of us. We had just a little bit leftover. It's served family style which is fun. Nice to try all dishes together and compare. Cool vibe in there. Server was super helpful to help us pick items, and we had some dietary restrictions and he was very accommodating and helped us navigate the menu and everything smoothly. Made it a great experience for sure. They were on top of it with drink refills as well which is always a nice touch. We'd definitely be down to come again sometime! read more
Ok yes the burger is a superstar, it's unapologetically messy but extremely tasty and I would have it any day of the week. This is my 3rd visit to Mott St and the dishes are creative and the service is always on point. No nonsense, intimate, quick and always focused on the food. It's a place where you can go and get stuffed and I love that about it even if every dish isn't perfect, the experience always is. read more
Came to get a casual dinner before a show at the salt shed and grabbed seats the at the bar, it was fun to watch the bartenders making the cocktails and learned that Kevin the dragon had Mallort in it during NYE but was just an amaretto when we went (IYKYK) We both finally for the burger and while we enjoyed it, don't think is in top three burgers, so maybe it was too overhyped to me. Did add the egg and likes the crispy pieces for texture. Definitely needed something. The old fashioned were nice and also enjoyed the so chill. Definitely be back to sit in their patio area while the weather is still nice. read more
My goal is to try 50 new Chicago restaurants in 2025! Restaurant: 14/50 Month tried: February Favorite dish: crispy chili cauliflower, mentaiko kimchi udon Mott Street yessssss living up to the hype!! And we didn't even get to try the burger since we came after 7pm!! Came with a group of 4 and shared 9 or 10 dishes. There was nothing we didn't like. I don't eat beef or pork so that limited me personally, but I loooved the wings, udon noodles, cauliflower, and hamachi. It's definitely small and loud in there, but the servers are polite and upbeat and the bartender gave us a shot of something out of a dragon pitcher. I neeeed to come back for lunch. I love that they offer a jackfruit version of the burger, so I want to try it! read more
We had a reservation so we got seated right away. Our waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Everything on the menu sounded amazing, but after trying the dishes we ordered we were a bit disappointed. We ordered the Mott st burger, roasted sweet potato, short rib, and hamachi collar. Our appetizer the roasted sweet potato was really good! The black bean butter went really well with the potato. The short rib with congee had too many clashing flavors going on and it made it too salty, I think if it had more congee it would've balanced out better but there was so little in proportion to the short rib. But the short rib itself was very soft and tender. The hamachi collar was good but we didn't like the cornbread that was underneath, it made all the textures feel grainy. We also ordered the burger which was the star of the show! The burger alone would've been five stars. Maybe would come back to try their brunch menu but probably not dinner. read more

Amazing dinner. We found this place when we were visiting. It is small and intimate perfect for a date or to catch up with friends. Every dish was seasoned, cooked and flavored beautifully. Nice use of Asian flavors and ingredients for a delicious fusion menu. Highlights were the butterfish, Brussels sprouts and pork belly. We were absolutely stuffed and had no room for dessert. First off-- the Mott Burger was absolutely delicious!!! The miso butter onions w the pickles and sweet potato crispy straws were perfection. The kimchi fried rice was really good & awesome left over too! The three layer dip was good but don't necessarily think it's a "must get". Cozy vibes inside & very cute patio that I will be back for! Cute place with great food! Mott St is great- food was delicious and the vibes were spot on, and while we sat inside the outdoor area looked like a great summer option. The only real drawbacks were that our two food items came out at very different times. Veggies came out first and the burger took another 30ish minutes- totally get things not coming together but the gap was a bit much. The burger also- while incredible- is quite pricey at $25. Overall a great spot to check out for delish Asian flavors and a killer burger. read more
Wow! This was such an unexpected gem. I just drove my friend to Chicago who is moving back from New Orleans and our other friend who moved here 2 years ago got the 3 of us a reservation. We were pretty spent that evening so when we saw a chef's menu that made the food decisions for us we immediately put the menus down so we could spend our time catching up. We were aware the chef's menu was made to be shared by 4 ppl, and we were only 3, but we were fine with leftovers, and fancied ourselves healthy eaters... We had no idea what we were getting into. I won't try to describe each dish because who has that kind of time, but I will say all the flavors were distinct and interesting. Highlights for me included the cooling tzatziki paired with the sticky, sweet, and spicy wings, the tiny crunches of the roe that dotted the kimchee udon, the combo of the fresh mint and fish sauce for the imperial rolls served with lettuce wraps, and the umami-filled tiny shrimp and thai chilies in the papaya salad. I'm glad they didn't call this a tasting menu, because each dish was very generously sized, and yet there's not one dish that I would have skipped if I had the option. Our server, Riley, was attentive but chill, not rushing us even though we were certainly close to the last people on the patio. The bottle of wine we got (which I forgot to photograph and am kicking myself for missing) was light and fresh and balanced well with the food. The patio itself was intimate, and not super loud despite how many people were out there when we arrived. We packed up so many to go boxes and 2 days later, the leftovers are still so satisfying to the palate. This should be on your list if you like interesting and inventive Asian cuisine. And if you have 4 people, the chef's menu is very reasonably priced, we were pleasantly surprised spliting it just 3 ways. I will definitely be back! read more

The food was INCREDIBLE. Everything we ate was a 10/10 in my opinion. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. The restaurant is very lively and loud which can be interpreted a few ways. As someone who is a little hard of hearing, I found it hard to hear my friends although didn't impact my experience. And despite $$$, I didn't feel like like the prices were egregious. Finally got to try this place out on a beautiful Sunday early evening and sat outside!!!! We shared everything which included the Imperial rolls, garlic rice, the burger, and the Everything shrimp noodles!!!! The garlic rice the burgers and the noodles were amazing and I would definitely go back! A little tip if you go super early, you can get in right away otherwise..... Really enjoyed our dinner at Mott St. The restaurant is uniquely decorated and the patio is spacious and light. We were greeted and sat immediately and our server was warm and inviting. Of course we came for the burger and the BURGER was the star of the show. The little sweet potato strings on the burger bump it up to another level! We also tried the wings and they were delicious. Definitely believe all of the hype. read more
This is a cute Asian-oriented American fusion restaurant with outside and inside dining. The inside seems to be full service. The outside your Oder via mobile QR code and they bring the food to your table. A friend suggested we try Mott after seeing a cute post on tik tok. Wish we had more options for food. Wanted to try the wings but once I looked at menu realized it was only 3 wings for $18..... and each additional wing was $6 .... a little over budget for me and my hunger for casual food. Didn't seem reasonable to me and got the 18$ burger instead. It was delicious, filling and I was happy with the selection. We ordered the Lychee frozen also via QR Code. It's supposed to come like shaved ice but their machine was broken so they brought it on the rocks. I was expecting more of a traditional sweet lychee cocktail but didn't realize the description said "smoky" and also had some tajin on the rim. I wouldn't order it again but for those that like spicy/smoky I recommend it. read more
Amazing food and ambiance. Dined in for brunch for a friend's birthday with a group of 6 so I was able to try a good amount of dishes. I really enjoyed the gai lan and avocado rillette appetizers. My friend and I split the Mott Burger and Pork Belly Benedict. The Benedict was my favorite of the two. The pork was very tender, onsen egg was so good, and the sauce was delicious. The burger was also good. Very flavorful and juicy. Was too full to enjoy all of it. I would definitely come back. They have a really cute patio that would be nice for brunch. read more
I get why this place has so much hype. Even on a Monday the place was packed. Service was great as my waitress was accommodating to our order and allergies. The burger was the star of the show, it was incredible. All our other dishes were great too. My mocktail was alright but I could have passed on it. Such an amazing Asian fusion brunch spot with a gorgeous patio! I felt lucky to have been in town during gorgeous weather in August. It had been years since seeing some dear friends and we ordered a bunch of items off the menu: --fish fillet sandwich --Mott burger --wok smoked gailan --coconut pancakes --freeman torta --Kimchi breakfast potatoes Everything was outstandingly delicious and beautifully presented! All our dishes came out lightning fast and we feasted in delight! I would say the gailan and coconut pancakes were exceptionally tasty. The only thing that prompted me to knock off a star was the strange service towards the end...we ordered the coconut pancakes as dessert to split and our waiter took 15 mins after we were done with our main entrees to ask if we still wanted it. We were like um, heck yeah! It took forever for our dirty plates to be cleared and nearly 30 mins went by without the pancakes. We watched the kitchen crank our dish after dish to folks who got seated after us, including orders of the pancakes. So I flagged down the waiter and he apologized, walked into the kitchen and brought them out. I also had to flag him down for the bill. The pancakes were definitely worth the wait but the uncharacteristic slow service toward the end was a bummer. Still the food was so great I'd come back! read more

Mott St remains one of my top date night spots for delicious asian-fusion food and amazing craft beer and cocktail options. The lighting inside is moody but not too dark, and it gets packed so there's the buzz of tableside chatter to add to the ambiance. Even on weeknights this place will get packed so be sure to get a reservation! Their Mott Burger is always a hit. It's so savory and unique with their hoisin aioli, miso butter onions, and sweet potato shoestrings. I opted not to add the egg so it would be a little easier to split. I also had the everything wings, a standard order comes with three but per the server's suggestion, I added an extra wing so it's easier to share! I love that it comes with the wing tips. The cream cheese dipping sauce is incredible and the everything sauce really reminds me of the sauce from San Tung in San Francisco (if you know you know!) I was really surprised how much I liked the Duchesse de Bourgogne Flanders-style sour red ale on draft. It was really complex and slightly sweet with each sip tasting a little different. The hitachino nest white ale was also really tasty. I would imagine even non-beer drinkers would enjoy this beer as it's not too strong but has really nice flavors and aromas. Note: If you don't see the burger on the food menu, don't freak out! It's hidden in the bar menu under the beers. If you want it at a table you'll need to order before 7pm! Also when I've stopped by I believe they have a happy hour menu which gets updated frequently, usually mon-thurs 5-6pm but you may need to double check! read more

Drink 4 of 5: While I can't remember the name of the drink I can remember the description. It's a Ying and yang blend of coffee and black tea. I'd say that's the best way to describe the taste as well. It's not for everyone, but if you like coffee or black tea try it. Papaya Salad 4 of 5: Light and refreshing, bit I wish it had more of a kick to It's flavor overall. Everything Wings 5 of 5: perfectly fried wings with an amazing sauce and kick. I can see why this dish is popular here. The sauce has a sweet and spicy soy/oyster flavor. Everything Noodles with Shrimp 5 of 5: The noodles are perfectly al dente and the sauce is similar to the wings but without the spicy kick. Short Rib 3 of 5: The short rib is cooked well, but lacks any notable flavor compared to the other dishes. The oyster congee is also a bit lacking. I'd say to get this to the table before the really strong flavored dishes. Great experience overall and would highly recommend. read more

I finally made it to Mott St after hearing so much about their legendary burger--and it did not disappoint! We arrived around 5 PM on a Monday and got to take advantage of their happy hour, and I'm so glad we did. The deals were incredible, starting with their $9 cocktail of the day, the Green Tea Margarita, which was hands down the best cocktail I've had in Chicago for under $10. Such an amazing value! For appetizers, we ordered the everything wings, cauliflower, and garlic rice. Each dish was a hit! The cauliflower was perfectly cooked and seasoned, while the everything wings were a delightful surprise. They're served with tzatziki sauce--a first for me--and the pairing was amazing. The garlic rice rounded out the starters beautifully, setting the tone for the meal. Of course, I had to try the famous Mott St burger. When I saw it on the happy hour menu with an option to add an 8oz beer for just $1 more, it was a no-brainer. Who doesn't love a beer with their burger? I added an egg to the burger, and let me tell you--this is, without a doubt, the best burger I've had in Chicago. It absolutely lives up to the hype. Mott St has officially earned a spot on my "must-visit" list for when friends come to town. The food, drinks, and overall experience were exceptional. I wish I could give them six stars if I could. Pretty similar experiments at Mott St second time going and getting some different things. The burger still knocks it out of the park. This time, the close second was the stuffed cabbage. I don't think that stuffed cabbage seemed like an apt name, since the dish was more like lasagna but whatever it was, it was reallllly good. Kind of reminded me of ropa vieja. The side of cauliflower was also really good, just didn't need that much of it with everything else we got (just 2 of us). The imperial rolls were a little bit disappointing. Just not that flavorful and the sauce was really needed to add flavor. read more

There are but the non-enclosed area in the back has so much wind they don't do much.
