Ordered in person at the restaurant for two dishes to take away because of some other unexpected matter. Was told ~20 minutes to wait. But nothing came after 30 minutes. So I reminded the staff. Great place for some good Chinese-Szechuan food! They even open until 2AM so that's def a plus if you have some cravings during the ungodly hours. The interior seems to still be very new and very stylish. The service was lackluster but we did stumble in at around 1AM. We ordered the Salt and Pepper String Beans, Szechuan Eggplant, and the Sizzling Beef in Black Pepper Sauce. TL;DR, everything was very delicious! The String Beans were at a perfect texture, slightly crisped on the outside and tender on the inside as thought it was coated and cooked in oil with a very high heat-typical Chinese style. The flavor was perfection-not too salty at all and paired well with rice. The Szechuan Eggplant was very tender as well and not too spicy despite all of the chili peppers that you see. It's more of the numbing spicy. The sauce wasn't too overwhelming and the eggplant had a good flavor. The Sizzling Beef was definitely breathtaking, as it's presence and sizzling sound was all that was seen and heard as it made its way onto the table. The beef was soooo tender and juicy! Best prices for a college student. The quality for the price here is affordable for really good Chinese food. The smoothie is really one of the best prices in the area. Tried the fish and tofu over rice was pretty bland, however, the chilled dry chicken changed my mind about the restaurant. The dry chili chicken is a bomb here. Such a bland name for how good it is. Also tried the mapo tofu. It lacked the Schezuian pepper that gives it authentic heat. Which is fine for most people, since not everyone wants that numbing sensation. We've ordered the same food from MLKitchen for awhile, beef friend rice, Mongolian beef, string beans and egg fu young (shrimp or chicken). I know the MB has A LOT of onions, but for the past couple of orders there was hardly no meat, literally a few bites only. The same with the beef fried rice. I ordered the food for pick up. When I arrived the same young man was there along with a young lady. I told them I was here to pick up food I ordered thru GrubHub, gave them my name and # and said it'll be a few minutes. But on the app it's ready for pick up. So I sat for a few minutes and went back up and showed them that it's ready. Well the food was sitting on the counter behind them the entire time!!! We're very disappointed because we like the food from ML. Also for the young man who's always at the front register, please have a friendlier attitude. Oh ML Kitchen, where do I start. We first ordered you on a whim from Grubhub nearly a year ago. We were moving out of our apartment in River North, and stumbled upon your magnificent food, I distinctly remember every dish was delicious. Fast forward to just a few short hours ago. We have tried a vast majority of the Chinese food joints around Boystown and East Lakeview (where we live), and each time there is at least one dish that is off. We wanted the best, so I went digging for the name of the restaurant we had nearly a year ago from the southwest side of Chicago... and there is was, ML Kitchen. We ordered (again) the Beef with Broccoli, Sesame Chicken, Rangoons, Veggie Lo Mein, Fried Rice, Egg Rolls... and just as we remembered; perfect. ML kitchen never disappoints. I always get the sesame chicken and it's one of the best I've had! I usually get the combo sesame chicken and it comes with fried rice and a crab rangoon. For the price the portions are pretty big and will fill you up! I've never tried anything else but I know they have a wide variety of items including noodles, smoothies, pot stickers, etc. The establishment is clean and friendly. I'm not a huge fan of Chinese food simply because it tends to be greasy and high in sodium, however the food at ML Kitchen is anything but that. My friends and I tried their daily specials which all come with egg fried rice and a crab rangoon. Can't beat the price for the amount of food you get. What I liked most about this place is the interior decor. It's very modern and clean, unlike many Chinese restaurants in the Chicago area. Out of all the dishes, I loved the Egg Foo Young with its perfectly cooked vegetables, omelette, rice and the perfect syrup. One should try the Egg Foo Young for sure here. They offer their own in-house delivery service as well on mleats.com, which would give you a 10% off on your order. Solid option for staple dishes! What sets ML apart from a lot of places is their online ordering and delivery service. They have consistently come thru during bad weather, late hours, or days when I was just too lazy to go pickup food myself. ML's delivery time is often better than the estimated time they give you. If I had to guess, I'm probably on the edge of their delivery area, so the fact they delivery the goods so consistently makes me love them even more! read more

It arrived more quickly than expected and the soup was still very hot; this is probably what caused the container to warp, leading to significant leakage of the soup, although there was fortunately a plastic bag knotted around the container for additional containment. The wonton soup itself was essentially flavorless, the wontons were appropriately shrimp-y and accompanied by iceberg lettuce and plain noodles. I also ordered the cumin lamb. This is generally a favorite dish of mine but the flavors didnt burst here the way I had hoped for. Found out about this place from Uber Eats and saw that it was open until 2am. I called in for pick-up and ordered the crab rangoons and beef chow fun since they didn't have pad see ew. The chow fun was recommended by whomever answered the phone and they did not disappoint. The noodles were perfectly fried and the whole meal was still hot when my boyfriend delivered it to me. The only thing I will say is that I wish it came with more beef and a litttttle more sauce, but it wasn't a make it or break it thing. Food is typically pretty good but there have been MULTIPLE occasions where they've tried to overcharge us (I let it slide the first time but got pretty annoyed the 2nd) because their website automatically applies deals incorrectly. The second time this happened I made a note of it in my order and when I went to pickup and pay I explained the system issue and they tried to overcharge me stating that the food was already made so I can't take anything back. Took a lot of explaining and none of the staff were nice about it, actually really aggressive even though I was calm and just explaining that it wasn't their fault but their website. After visiting China this past year, I've been trying to find a place here to have some of the dishes I tried on my trip. ML Kitchen has dry chili chicken which is a close match to one of my favorite while over there. If it had peppercorns, we'd be there! Also had the egg drop soup which was great. It came with Fried Rice and a Crab Rangoon. The Crab Rangoon was awesome. The Fried Rice was decent. Lao Sze Chuan's famous Dry Chili Chicken has really tiny chicken chunks and more chilis than the chicken, but this, the chunks are pretty big. The Salt and Pepper Fried Eggplant was good too. It could use a stronger flavor but it's still good overall. One negative experience: they are clueless about the Free Spicy Cucumber promotion for Yelp Check-in. They asked to see my Yelp App not once, not twice, but 3-4x. They also had to triple check with the Kitchen. In the end I still got it for free but it came out after our meal was pretty much over. WORST SERVICE EVER. They just hung up on me when trying to cancel an order that was over a half hour late with our food sitting in the delivery car the whole time. They've pulled this multiple times with us. A girl who picked up the phone told me the driver left with our order 10 minutes earlier, only to be still waiting more than a half hour after that. Guess they thought it was ok for our food to be sitting in a car for 30 minutes to deliver it cold. We supported this place all throughout the pandemic since they used to have good food. But the last several times we ordered the food was way below average at best. Kept giving them a chance since they were local and we know how hard this whole thing has been on restaurants but they clearly could care less about our business. We'll be happily moving on to many of the other better options available between the West Loop and China Town and suggest everyone do the same. read more

Located right outside of UIC campus and free parking after 10 PM. we ordered... drinks: thai milk tea, green tea smoothie,matcha red bean latte, and lemon iced tea entree: beef, enoki, mushroom vermicelli, lamb with cumin, salt n pepper smelt fish, string bean in szechuan (w/ pork) appetizer: free spicy and sour cucumber (check in with yelp) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - drinks: thai milk tea - i asked for less sugar and after mixing the drink, it still tasted overly sweet to me and I had to pour water in the thai milk tea to mix it. i could only taste a little bit of the milk tea, but mainly liquid sugar matcha red bean latte - recommend getting this drink! its not too milky either but just the right density and taste green tea smoothie - extremely way too sweet. did not taste any green tea lemon iced tea - very basic, nothing special entrees: beef, enoki, mushroom vermicelli - I loved the presentation of the entree dish for this but unfortunately, there was no flavor in the broth. I was hoping to eat my rice with the broth but it was just a watery taste. In total, there was 5-6 vermicelli that was wrapped in a bow form to eat and the beef was a bit flavorless. The broth also has onions and bell peppers. lamb with cumin - love the cumin taste, very flavorful, but there was so little lamb and too much onions and red chili peppers. The lamb is shredded but mostly all the pieces were baby bites. salt n pepper smelt fish - my favorite dish! the smelt fish was nicely seasoned and the fish was nicely fried as well. love the jalepeno and garlic salt taste. it tastes a lot better with soy sauce on the side sting bean szechuan w/ pork - the pork is also in shredded pieces, but the string beans tasted more of a stir fry than a spicy szechuan style. I was expecting more of a spicy taste to it, but It was more of a garlic-y taste. the red chili flakes (from the hot chili oil) was present, but did not taste any spice. The string beans was also very oily so I did not like how it tasted on my palette. appetizer: spicy and sour cucumber - there were sour cucumbers (not from the sauce) so the appetizer was not that appetizing, did not finish or take home. the oil that they used seemed very oily and it did not mask the taste of the cucumber. overall experience: I would give this restaurant a 3 star. I wanted to see what the hype was about and after reading all the 4/5 star reviews, decided to try it for myself. Very organized menu and clean interior. Service wise, could need a little work.
