MJ'S café 5162 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA 70806 Guess what? I'm a huge fan of vegan food! It's so healthy and flavorful! I didn't get to order much, but I'm going back to try everything else. 1. Hummus Platter. V/GF Mj's homemade hummus, cucumbers, and warm pita. Gluten-free when served with crackers. 2. The French. VEG Apples, local pepper jelly, greens, and your choice of goat cheese, vegan feta on toasted sourdough, or panini-style with Provolone. (Choice of soup: roasted squash soup) 3. Mocha Almond Chocolate, coffee, and toasted almonds in an oat + brown sugar dough. 4. Lavender Latte #tonylameats #foodismedicine #batonrougela #mjscafebr #veganfood #brunch #lunch #foodislife #desserts #coffee

Great food and great service! Had lunch with a friend one week day, and it was great! I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but my friend is vegan. The food was delicious! I had the French on focaccia bread-so much flavor, I didn't miss the meat! I had the corn soup-yum! You can expect to pay around $12-$18 for most entrees, but most come with your choice of soup or salad. The chef was experimenting with a banana cookie, and OMG! It was a little more like a muffin top because it was fluffy and had mini chocolate chips-we told her to definitely add it to the menu. You get a free cookie when you sign up for their rewards program. I'll be back!

I did a search for Vegan food near airport and it let me to MJ's. The staff is informative and friendly, Andrea helped me out today and she was a delight. The atmosphere here is open, modern and comfortable. They had nice, seasonal decorations throughout the dining room and in the tables. So cute! Now to the real reason I stopped in...the food! They have so many vegan options and it was nice to be able to have breakfast. They had a couple specials and I chose the Pumpkin Pie French Toast. It wasn't too sweet, it was just right. I paired it with a Hazelnut Oatmilk latte and could not be more pleased. I highly recommended this spot, vegan or not.

The food was so good!!! My mother and I stopped here on a road trip from Los Angeles to the south and we were looking for a healthy option on the way to New Orleans. The food was amazing, the servers were so sweet, and they even set up a little outdoor seating area for us so that we could eat with our dogs!! Both my mom and I loved what we ordered. If I am ever back in Baton Rouge, I will be back to MJ's!!

    Carrot cake cupcake...AWESOME!!

Wow!! Another awesome find!! I've passed this place a few times but never even thought to check it out. Well, that all changed today and I'll definitely be a regular. This place has an awesome variety of vegan and vegetarian options. I had the sweet heat wrap, which was soooo good. The iced hibiscus tea was perfect to wash it down. I purchased a carrot cake cupcake to go, which was also amazing!! The staff was super amazing (so attentive and sweet). It's also a cute and cozy spot. I'll definitely be back to try something new. Check'em out if you're in the area.

Best VEGAN food & options in Baton Rouge La!!! Omg I have never been so impressed with such variety in my entire vegan eating experience! The server was PHENOMENAL and truly alert to all of our questions & concerns. She was attentive, studious and most of all patient! It is a cozy little restaurant from front to back and side to side. Please and I mean please patronize MJ's cafe if you live near or are visiting the area. It'll be your NEW FAVORITE place

Definitely my favorite lunch spot in Baton Rouge. Everything I've had has been so fresh, flavorful, and healthy to boot. Been working with a mostly plant-based diet in recent months and having this gem right around the corner has been huge! I'm here at least twice a week for lunch. They also have great breakfast on weekends, delicious coffees, and the cookies are divine. Also gluten-free and dairy free! Love the quaint little atmosphere, they also do live music on the first and last Fridays of the month with some delicious drink options.

    Burrito bowl add kale

Rachel was so sweet and helpful! I had never been in before, so she gave me a recommendation for the monthly special. The burrito bowl was great, I subbed Jalapeños for kale and totally enjoyed that decision, especially because we were eating in the heat of outside! Highly recommend stopping by here if you're looking for some healthy or non healthy vegan options! Great service and a good ambiance.

Yum! I just finished a 3 day binge of eating vegan. While I'm not planning to continue strictly eating vegan, I felt like getting some MJs & keeping my streak going. I ordered the hippie sandwich and roasted corn soup--YUM both were so good. Everything in the sandwich tasted super fresh and the corn soup was rich and creamy. My husband actually made him go halfsies with him so he could have some too. My husband ordered the French toast, I found it just sweet enough, although not as fluffy as you typically imagine French toast. Our hostess was the sweetest as well. Cant wait to return! COVID precautions: All employees were wearing masks the entire time. Also tables very adequately spaced our in the restaurant.

The Hippy Garden Sandwich with a side of Curried Carrot Soup. Very tasty!

MJ's Cafe is a great place to gets tasty meal that is also good for you! It's plant-based cuisine is so good you'll hardly notice the lack of meat products. It's located in the revitalized Government Street Arts & Entertainment District, in a spacious and brightly lit space that is beautifully accented with houseplants. There is ample parking in the rear of the building, and the entrance there allows you to walk right in from your car. Once inside, you'll be greeted and seated and you can explore the menu. I'm a big fan of their sandwich choices, which always feature great vegetable combinations that are fully satisfying. These come with a side, which can include slaw, salad, or soup. While all are good, you may want to check out the soup options. These plant based options often are both delicious and different. I'm very fond of the Curried Carrot Soup! Another good way to decide what to order is to check out the specials listed on the boards, or just ask your server. These include things that may not be included on the regular menu. I've never been disappointed by these! There's also a big selection of salads, for those seeking lighter fare. MJ's will make you forget that you are eating vegetarian food. It's better for you and better for the planet, so try it out!

    Buffalo cauliflower wrap
    Monique' M.

I ordered over the phone to pick up and go. I was quoted an acceptable amount of wait time and when I arrived my food was ready and hot. I ordered the buffalo cauliflower wrap with mushroom soup and vegan quesadilla. Unfortunately, they were all out of vegan desserts that day by the time I called. I called about 1200 noon. The buffalo cauliflower wrap was awesome! I could eat that daily. The mushroom soup was good, had a little spicy kick to it. The vegan quesadilla was okay but not memorable. I would definitely eat here again, as the prices are reasonable ($27.38 including taxes), but their hours are very limited.
