We came here on a Sunday, and it was not crowded or loud. I have celiacs, and they were so accommodating- they don't have a gluten free menu, but almost all the menu items can be made gluten free, and they have gluten free soy sauce! The chef also made us special spicy tuna cut rolls, which wasn't on the menu, and it was so good. They have a good list of desserts, and the Crème Brûlée is gluten free! The presentation is top tier, and the service was wonderful. Our waitress Wendy went above and beyond. Miyazaki is our new favorite sushi restaurant. No comparison!
Service was amazing. Shout out to our server Yazmin! They were attentive and had the best food recommendations. Food was great. Ordered the edamame (the chili was a nice touch), gyoza, salmon lemonade and bream roll. The salmon lemonade was a surprisingly sweet roll, would highly recommend ordering. The drinks (both alcoholic and mocktail) were also tasted great. The hibiscus with the bubble, was a fun idea. Ambiance is casual but not too casual, can be dress up. This is a great place for a date or friend gathering. There's plenty of parking, as this place is located at fashion place (mall).
I stopped by Miyazaki for lunch on Friday and made a reservation, though it turned out not to be necessary since they weren't too busy. Parking was easy with plenty of spots available, which always makes for a stress-free start. I ordered the beef bento and the Salmon Lemonade roll, and both absolutely hit the spot. The roll was the standout -- topped with a caramelized slice of lemon that added a slightly sweet, citrusy pop that made each bite unforgettable. The beef in the bento was packed with flavor and cooked just right, making it a satisfying and well-rounded meal. If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine and looking for a reliable, tasty lunch option, Miyazaki is definitely worth a visit.
This is the best sushi I've ever had. The chicken katsu was tender and bursting with flavor. The steak wagyu was the best steak I've ever tasted. The sushi rolls were perfectly made and held together with my clumsy chopstick usage. The cosmo was divine. The edamame was the best I've ever had. The service was good, but my water was left empty often. They have smaller water glasses. The ambiance is outstanding! It is hip, chique, and perfect for any major event: anniversary, graduation, pre-wedding dinner, and more! It isn't busy on the weekdays, but I'd recommend reservations regardless.
Tried this on a whim while at the mall, was craving sushi so we stopped in for a roll, had a bowl of Katsu curry and the kiddos had chicken teriyaki, everything was really good, place is super nice too, we really enjoyed our food and experience!!
A beautiful restaurant, full of helpful staff and delicious food! My party had the Wagyu Curry Don, the Tokyo Burger, and the white chocolate mountain cake. The don was a bowl of crispy beef, potatoes, carrots, and rice with a flavorful sauce. The dish was unlike anything I had had before, and every bite was amazing. The Tokyo burger was a Wagyu cheeseburger split in half and served in a sizzling platter of rich, tangy, smooth cheese sauce. Very unique and delicious. We came here the week between Christmas and New Year's, when most restaurants have a very long wait. We were able to be seated right away and service was friendly and attentive and not rushed.
I recently visited Miyazaki with a friend, looking forward to what we hoped would be a premium Japanese dining experience. We ordered the 5 oz "Japanese A5 Wagyu" for $110, two sushi rolls, miso soups, and salads (which, oddly, weren't included with any entrée). My friend had a ribeye. Let me be clear: what Miyazaki served was not Japanese A5 Wagyu. True A5 Wagyu should be rich, tender, and melt in your mouth. What I received was grainy, overly fatty, and completely unpalatable--I couldn't even swallow one piece. My friend's ribeye was flash-cooked and just as underwhelming. When I brought up the issue, the "chef" brought out a cut of meat (without any certification) insisting it was authentic Japanese Wagyu. It felt like an attempt to salvage a lie, and frankly, it was insulting. For a restaurant that uses the name Miyazaki--a region renowned for authentic Wagyu--this was a total betrayal of customer trust. I left feeling deceived, frustrated, and deeply disappointed. Do yourself a favor: avoid Miyazaki and spend your money where quality and honesty actually matter.
Right at the entrance of the mall so it's a great spot to grab a bite after a bit of shopping. Prices are pretty good as well for high quality sushi. Decently sized menu with something for everyone. Their Gyoza was well stuffed and perfectly cooked. Also got the takoyaki which are savory, octopus filled fried balls, a common Japanese street food. Never had it before but I was sold, pretty to look at but most importantly it had great flavor. The salmon lemonade roll was a perfect, "light" roll for me. The name is fitting, the lemon is caramelized and some of the sugar granules could be found on the bottom of the plate. Kind of a sweet savory roll, but really a close sibling the common sunrise roll at most restaurants. Next was the Kaguyehime roll, pretty simple roll but was very flavorful. Something I haven't really seen in the area before is freshly sliced ginger served with the sushi, definitely appreciated that since it is much more flavorful and a better palate cleanser that what you typically find a most sushi restaurants. They also offer freshly grated wasabi, so if you've been wanting to try the real thing this is the place to do it. We got their Ube cheesecake which was probably the only disappointing part of the meal. Ube flavor was not very strong so it was mostly just a regular cheesecake which is fine. One of the raspberries was starting to mold but so keep an eye on out of season fruit. Restaurant ambiance and decoration is great, low light and intimate. Service was also great, very attentive. Didn't see an alcohol menu but they do have a bar so sure they have a signature cocktail menu. Their mocktail menu actually looked pretty good and reasonably priced, would probably try it next time. In summary, I'd highly recommend coming here. Great sushi with quality ingredients, great service and ambiance. Will definitely be back in the future!
Was shopping at the Fashion Place Mall and stopped into Miyazaki for dinner. We were seated quickly as the restaurant was not busy at 5:00 pm. Ordered the pork belly donburi and chirashi donburi - both were delicious.
Let me start with saying the food and attentiveness from the Manager brought this review from a 3 to a 4. We had a reservation at 6:45 and got sat immediately and ordered drinks. However, it took 30 minutes for two cocktails and one beer to get to us. The server didn't check in once or let us know that the drinks were delayed. We saw the bartender walk away from the bar and not return. We were then told that he was "slammed". Upon receiving our drinks 40 minutes later, one of our cocktails showed up warm and tasted horrible. The manager came over and offered us a free appetizer and to remake the drink. We do appreciate her willingness to rectify the issue. Be warned for lychee martini lovers - the drink is not at all a classic lychee martini and more a yuzu-tini with one lychee at the bottom of the drink From there on out our dinner came out at a nice pace and was delicious. We ordered 4 rolls and the sashimi plate along with the ceviche, calamari and cucumber salad. The ceviche was fresh and tasty, we would've liked a few more taro chips were was ultimately satisfied. I didn't care too much for the calamari but that was a personal preference as I don't love thick slices. Our rolls were fresh and delicious, they had a nice spin on the classic rolls. The cucumber salad wasn't anything to write home about but was good. Ultimately, the service was lacking but the manager did a lovely job at trying to rectify the issues. I am not sure what the bartender was doing but they need to relearn the drinks and how to manage their time considering it was not busy in terms of drinks. PS it was a Sunday, and being in Utah not too many people are drinking. The food was good and would bring us back again!
Stopped here for lunch. Service was perfect and the food was amazing. I had the Salmon lemonade roll and it was very very good. The salmon skin hand roll was not your normal roll. Still good but I wouldn't get it again. Overall lunch was great and I would recommend giving it a try.
We've been here several times. This was the first one not sitting at the bar. Mario took care of us well. We got a tiny number of nigiri. They were as good as always. Excellent fish and Uni. rice that is not overly compacted. It's always very good. If you are getting sushi, and like nigiri, being at the bar is always a good idea. You can ask the sushi chefs questions and they can come up with interesting things to get. Today was about other dishes. I had not had grilled unagi before going to Tokyo. I loved it there. What they have here is every bit as good. It was perfectly cooked and flaky. We also got the black garlic ramen. While it was very good, it doesn't match the best. Still, all in all, this is the best place I've been to, and I've tried to get to most everywhere.

My husband and I made reservations to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary. We had a fine celebration. I was super excited about the whole thing. We were treated to excellent and attentive service. A big shout out to Joseph! We met him the first time and he added so much light and positivity that I was well pleased to see him again for our special celebration. There was three people in our party and as we were celebrating such a glorious occasion we did it up real nice. There were some Hits and some misses. You can't please all of the people all of the time but you can still give it your best. Miyazaki definitely delivers across the board. 5 star freshness and atmosphere. The only downside was not getting to try the pink and tonic signature cocktail. They were out so that was a bummer but the other two cocktails that I tried were fun and delicious. The best thing we ordered was the A5 Wagyu short rib. read more
My wife and I were going to the Electronic Game Box later that evening so we called ahead and got a reservation at Miyazaki for dinner before the event. It was a Friday night and our reservation was for 6:30pm. They were very busy when we arrived but we were seated very quickly in the bar area. I did not think, based on their website and other reviews that they served alcohol. They do! They have several fun cocktails, sake, wine and beer. We started with some Yangtze Mules and the Beef Tataki. The Tataki was very good, had a nice acidic flavor with melt in your mouth paper thin slices of beef. This is where the service got fairly disorganized. First only one of the Mules was delivered. My wife wanted hers with less of the ginger beer (they use Fever Tree which my wife knows has stronger ginger flavor than most), and when they realized we ordered two it seemed that her request had not been noted. Our drinks tasted the same. My wife ordered the Salmon Lemonade Roll and Pork Chop and I ordered the Ora King Salmon Nigiri, Hamachi Nigiri and the Hamachi Crudo. The Salmon Lemonade Roll came out first but we hadn't been given soy sauce, ginger or wasabi yet, followed shortly by the Pork Chop. I had some of the roll and a few bites of the chop (more on those next paragraph) but after over 20 minutes I got concerned and asked the waiter about the Nigiri and Crudo. He assured me it was close and hadn't been forgotten. A little more waiting and it finally arrived. The flavor of the Pork Chop was over the top amazing. Excellent texture on the meat and just really amazing but not overpowering flavors. They sell some really expensive Wagyu Steaks and I'm always very skeptical both in that it will be what they say it is and that they will treat it well enough to make the difference worth it. After tasting their Pork Chop I trust that when they sell an $89 5oz New York Strip and a $139 8oz Ribeye that at the very least you will get the meat they claim to sell and it will be cooked with the skill to let the product speak for itself. My wife really enjoyed the Lemonade Roll but I kind of wanted the lemon flavor to pop more. Still very good. The Hamachi Crudo was overpowered by the oil in my opinion but this was only my second time having Crudo so maybe this is what it is? The Nigiri was very good, very fresh. My wife loves sushi but she has a VERY high sensitivity to fishy flavors. I honestly don't mind mild fish flavor in sushi, I'm talking mild. So I've had to learn to taste sushi for her before she will commit. She didn't have any of the Nigiri but I was able to affirm under sworn oath to her that it had absolutely NO fishy flavors at all. Very clean and fresh. A few little hiccups in service aside, which didn't take away from my enjoyment of the experience or the food, this place feels legit. The prices reflect the premium products and preparation. To conclude, I think Takashi has some serious competition to the south. I don't say that lightly. This place has been open less than a month and they were slammed. It was a Friday night, but the energy, the food and the enthusiasm I saw from both the customers and the staff have me feeling like this place is just getting started. read more

This place is a week in the works and they are doing a great job! Staff was all friendly and nice. Very attentive. The owner came by to get our opinion on the Jezebel roll. He was super nice. Mushroom miso- so good! Sashimi primavera- some of the best sashimi I have had in Utah. The cucumber gives it a fresh taste. We got about 4 rolls and my favorite was the salmon lemonade roll. NOT TO BE MISSED! Brand new restaurant at Fashion Place next to the Cheesecake Factory. Amazing experience from the moment you step in and when you leave. The lobby and interior is gorgeous, elegant and chic. Definitely a place to take people you want to impress be it out of town executives or a date. This place does sushi but what really shines about Miyazaki is the meats! We ordered: Rolls - Sin City - Hayao - Chili Hamachi (my favorite, it does have a kick!) Drinks: lots of beautiful mocktails but they do have a drink menu. - Japanese Fizz; a light take of Italian soda - non alcoholic Piña Colada; NOT TO BE MISSED, perfectly blended and creamy. Meats (small platters) - Beef Tataki; NOT TO BE MISSED. - A5 Wagyu Short Ribs; NOT TO BE MISSED. This is $45 small plate that I shared with my husband. It comes with a very hot rock where you cook the short ribs. Definitely sprinkle salt and pepper on it because it is DELICIOUS and you cook it to your liking. We might order 2 platters next time!! It was that good, and so fun to cook table top. Long wait for table reservation so leave the kids at home and go sit at the bar which was an amazing experience. Everyone was so nice asking how our food was. Great new restaurant with stellar service and food. Highly recommend and will be back!! It was last minute decision to have lunch with family. The interior was very well done. Great ambience. We were greeted right away. Service was attentive. Food came out hot. Portion wise very fair. We had beef, pork and salmon bentos. Hamachi collar, chicken katsu and beef curry. We liked the food. However, it was a little heavy on salt or else it would of been perfect. My mom really enjoyed the hamachi collar and ate more than her usual. We will be back. Happy to found a good place for next dining out read more
Absolutely delicious sushi and cocktail establishment. Every roll had very fresh fish and amazing flavor in each bite. Our table enjoyed the large selection of drinks on their menu. Draft Root Beer for the non-alcohol drinkers was a liquid treat. Presentation of drinks were next level, and extra thought was definitely put into every on the menu. The lunch special Bento Box was a great choice if in a rush, or not a sushi fan. Outdoor seating was perfect for the cooler evenings. The environment, top level service, drinks and food make this a great place to bring family/friends for your next sit down meal. read more

Chef Oswaldo was on top of it. My wife and I sat at the bar and he took great care of us during our feast. I also want to compliment the management. I overheard a conversation from the manager to one of the Chef's. He seemed to genuinely care about the staff. Which makes me feel good about the establishment. The food was amazing. We got a SOS and a Salmon Lemonade Sushi Roll. They were amazing. I would highly recommend the Salmon Lemonade to anyone. We also had the Ramen dishes. It was delightful. I would get again but opt for the spicey ramen. I do wish they had more options of Ramen. As I only saw two on the menu. We got the Jamaican fizz drink and the hibiscus pop. Both were Meh in my opinion. The Fizz was REALLY icy. I wish that I got more drink than ice for $8. Also the hibiscus pop we got because we thought it was fancy looking from other photos in yelp. But it didn't come with the bubble. So we were kinda disappointed. Overall the ambiance and experience was good. The drinks were ok. But the food and service was A+. We ordered edamame, white fish ceviche, tempura plate, a5 beef, Miyazaki roll, butterfly roll (salmon with tempura shrimp), grand slam, salmon lemonade roll, Fiji roll, hayao roll, Japanese fizz drink (love the fizzy drink with chia seed texture) and hibiscus pop (cool to watch). We also tried the fresh wasabi (extra $15) and loved all of it! I didn't expect myself to like the white fish ceviche but loved how the slight citrus flavor complimented the white fish so well. The edamame was also lightly seasoned (which I've never had before) and it's life changing! Everything tasted so fresh and was great quality! I was surprised we were able to finish it all the dishes, but it was so good that we had to. Service: The service was also amazing, and the servers were very conversational and attentive. They always made sure we were happy and had everything we wanted. Dessert: We ordered the black sesame creme and raindrop cake. I loved how smooth and decadent the black sesame crepe was and loved the crispy piece on top! It added so much texture and flavor to the dessert. For the raindrop cake, the flavor was more mild and the texture was more firm than I expected. However I really enjoyed the pistachio crunch that complemented the agar jelly. Ok! So I hated on this place when they were new and have since given them a few more tries. I would have given 4* but added a star as one of only 2 places in town to have fresh o-toro on the menu. My husband got COVID for my birthday so I was destined for a sad, sad evening alone, listening to his coughing from across the house. I knew I needed something special to improve my mood, and Miyazaki delivered just the thing! The hamachi nigiri is usually excellent but wasn't quite the best this time. But, since I was splurging, I had 2 orders of o-toro and was soooo glad I did! Typically o-toro goes for $20+, so it was very nice to see the fair price tag of $14. It did made me wonder if the quality would be the awful abomination of frozen o-toro that looks like spam which I've experienced elsewhere, but alas! It was quite fresh, fatty, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The salmon lemonade roll has become a favorite of mine, despite not being crazy about lemon otherwise. It is definitely a step up from other similar rolls in town, which is reflected in the price. But, for a treat, I'm ok with that. Overall, while Miyazaki isn't my absolute favorite sushi in town, it is the most convenient sushi of high quality. I often don't feel like waiting in line for a table at all times of the day, paying for parking, and dealing with the hassle of being downtown. Plus, Miyazaki is offered via delivery, and who doesn't need dinner delivered every now and then? I've definitely been won over. read more
Miyazaki's food was delicious! It's definitely on the higher end. I strictly went in for the sushi, but they also have fancy steaks. We started off with the white fish ceviche. If you like citrus, this is a good starter. I enjoyed the taro chips they paired with the fish and seaweed salad. For the spicy lovers, chili hamachi roll is so yummy! Somehow the hamachi, chili oil, and orange balance and go well together. Highly recommend the sashimi platter - super fresh. Ended with black sesame crème. If you're into rich chocolate pudding you'll like it. I do want to try the other desserts as well. They all sound so unique and intriguing. The restaurant itself has a great Japanese luxe vibe. The only downside is that it's located at Fashion Place Mall. IYKYK - the mall is always packed and parking is always full. read more

Deliciously fresh fish! We came in on a Sunday evening and were able not only to get a table for four without wait, but almost all of our sushi came out with a blink of an eye. Great service, very nice small but carefully created specialty roll menu. Our favorite were salmon futomaki with generous pieces of salmon, Hayao, Miyazaki, S.O.S and salmon lemonade. Miso soup was loaded with shiitake mushrooms. Everything came out excellent quality. read more

We have been here a few times and have loved them each time. Their cocktails are creative and delicious so def try some of those out. They also have an equally delicious and unique mock tail menu which is awesome. We got the lemonade roll and I loved it. The caramelized lemon on top was perfect. We also got salmon nigiri and it was so fresh. It's the best we've had in the state so far. We also got the wagyu curry don and it's so flavorful. The flavors are so deep and will probably get every single time we go there. Also, their miso soup is easily the best I've ever had in my life. If I lived closer, we'd be doing takeout all the time and never forgetting the miso! Def check them out! read more
Grabbed dinner at Miyazaki last night while doing a little shopping. I made an online reservation and we were seated within a few minutes of arriving early. Service was good and our waitress was friendly. Ordered the Sweet Chili Edamame as an appetizer and it was tasty. Wife prefers something less sweet but I was a fan. I had the Wagu Curry Don and Wendy had the Wagu Sirloin. Both we're excellent and unique takes on the dishes. We finished with the Black Sesame Creme which was very good, especially if you're a chocolate fan. This was not a rushed meal, so plan on at least an hour for dinner. They do serve Coke products and have an extensive Sake menu along with full bar. Looking forward to the next visit to try the sushi. read more

This is our 3rd visit to Miyazaki and sadly it will be our last. The quality has really slipped. The plates and sushi dishes are all chipped and severely worn. The sushi is just not good any more. The fish tastes old. Much of the rolls are made now of chopped fish and crab salad. Their attempt at nigiri toro, fatty toro was such a bad cut I have to wonder what the training of the sushi chefs are because you simply do not cut toro this way. It was stringy and tough. Literally you could not have missed the mark more with this. The Chili Hamachi was the only good roll we got. The SOS roll and the butterfly roll were gross, and tasted old. The shrimp pieces on the SOS were old and tasted way too strong / old. The butterfly was covered in chopped tuna that tasted so fishy / old it had to be scraped off to eat the rest of the roll. We eat a lot of good sushi and this place is no longer premium sushi. I would not even consider eating this at an all you can eat sushi joint. read more

Great place, great location and great service! I'm excited that it's located at the mall because I could easily shop then have a good dinner and vice versa. My husband ordered wagyu burger while I ordered nigiri platter with a roll that I actually forgot what it was called. We also ordered a Japanese beer and a glass of sake/champagne cocktail. They were all so good - so good that my husband had egg yolk all over his beard. Gross but I was happy to see he enjoyed it. I really liked my dinner too. The nigiris were made to perfection. I want to try their sashimi platter next time and my husband wants to try their a5 steak too. Highly recommend if you want to have your belly full before shopping! read more

This place has been on my list to try for months since seeing it coming soon during a trip to the mall. I had dinner here after work with a friend and it was an all-around pleasant experience. As an app I usually like to try gyoza if on the menu and I thought they were cooked perfectly with great flavor. We both ordered the chili hamachi roll because we love the combo of sweet and spicy and were both happy with our choice. The ginger was organic and tasted delicious. I like to eat it on its own so I was a fan of that. Note: they DO have cocktails, wine, beer, and sake according to their website, but at the time we thought they only served non-alcoholic drinks. My friend ordered the hibiscus pop and it was so fun because we weren't expecting the entertainment of the smoke bubble gun haha Service was prompt and friendly and the inside decor was lovely and peaceful. Probably some of the best Japanese food you can get not just in Utah, but anywhere! I love their menu, and their chefs take great pride in their craft. The rolls are amazing, big fan of the Hayao. The salmon lemonade roll is also great, but the shining star is the nigiri and sashimi. The fish is the best quality in the state! read more

THE WORST KATSU I EVER TASTED. I love Chicken Katsu and Japanese food in general and everytime there's a Chicken Katsu on the menu I always want to try it, but this one? NO FLAVOR AT ALL! So hard I can't even chew it. The server, DOSS didn't even care to ask if everything tasted great or any issues at all. The sauce wasn't that bad but with the price of this meal and serve us a what it looks like a week old chicken katsu that was reheated? No thanks. read more
Overall great experience. The waiter was a little busy and I got my sushi way earlier than my wife got her sirloin steak so I was either waiting for her or letting my tempura rolls get cold. The photo was a sub-thought and I took it too late. But was perfectly cooked. The Salmon Lemonade roll was the better of the three I had. I also the Miyazaki and the Hyoyo roll. Which were okay. Miso soup was great. Wasabi was fresh. If your wasabi melts in soy sauce without stirring it's a great sign. I still like Tsunami restaurant sushi over this. I do feel like they're trying to make it a really classy restaurant and it's nice to have a good sushi place in this area. read more

Let me start by saying the food here is amazing. Everything is made in house, and ingredients from some specialty items are flown in straight from Japan. All flavors are inspired from Japanese cuisine and culture in the town of Myazaki if I'm not mistaken. Our server (Mario) and the sushi chef (David) were very helpful while trying to figure out what to order. They were more than happy to answer all of our questions. On top of everything, the atmosphere is very unique. Overall a good vibe. I ordered the dry aged bone marrow butter ribeye and it did not miss. This is a must try for a date night or if you just want a delicious and very reasonably priced meal. 10 out of 10 would recommend. read more

My wife and I came here tonight for her birthday. I love their decor and the overall vibe. They have cherry blossom trees on the ceiling with a beautiful glass fireplace on the waiting area and modern decor. Our server Merwin was super friendly and helpful with the menu. We had the ceviche, which comes with taro chips and it was delicious. Then we wanted some sushi rolls. We got the Miyazaki roll, which had tempura with thinly sliced sirloin on top. Which I've never done before but it was good. We then did the Hayao roll, which was also a tempura roll but had crab salad and lime and tuna on top. It was fantastic. And most of their rolls are tempura so I asked if they had other non-tempura rolls and he said the chef could make anything for us. So I did a blue fin rol and it was phenomenal. Miyazaki is new and attached to the outside of Fashion Place Mall. It replaced Twigs and is right next to where CPK used to be (they will be building a PF Changs there). The interior is gorgeous and high end. This definitely felt like I was walking into a classy Japanese sushi restaurant. We were seated promptly as we had a reservation and they were very accommodating as we had a newborn with us as well. The food came out very sporadicly and some of our dishes were forgotten, but I won't hold that against them because they are new and still ironing out their kinks. The owner of the restaurant came to us and apologized multiple times. We told him that it's totally fine because we understood and he said that it doesn't give him a reason to slack. He was so professional and comp us dessert. He asked us if we were celebrating anything and we told him about the birthday. My aunt was disappointed because the cake that she wanted to try was not available, but that gives us reason to come back again! And the owner told us that if we called in advance, he would have it made for us. The food was delicious. The sushi and the fish tasted fresh and it was good! We tried a lot of the menu and had no complaints. The calamari sauce was so tasty, it was a wasabi mix. The Lemonade roll was also my favorite! It was the perfect balance of sweet with a tang, and you guys already know that I LOVE salmon. I had the Wagyu Sirloin and it was cooked to perfection! The mashed potatoes were savory and the sauce was a little salty, but nothing that was no edible. The asparagus was also cooked well. We had a good experience here and I would definitely come back! It was a bit pricey but I really can't complain because you're paying for quality. For my vegan people, you can actually order dessert here. There's a jello dessert (not sure what it was called) that is vegan friendly. read more
We went in on Mother's Day, with a reservation made two weeks prior. We were happy with the food quality but were disappointed at the overall experience. First of all, definitely 5/5 for the quality of their fish. Thick cut and fresh. 4/5 for the taste. Some of the items were pretty decent. Our favorite was the sashimi primavera. Uni nigiri and ama ebi were okay, nothing impressive. Personally think, Takashi offers better quality and taste for those two. Otoro was really fresh and the thick cut made it even more satisfying. However, we prefer the taste of Kobe's toro better, even though it's a much thinner cut. 3/5 for the staff (very nice but definitely not well trained, both the server and the food runners. We tried to order A5 roll, and were told they were out of A5 beef. We tried to order sashimi plate and were told they did not have any nigiris or sashimis left. I multiple checked with the server and kept getting the same answer. At 3:30 PM on Mother's Day and they ran out both items that they are famous for... ridiculous, right? When the host stopped by to give us some water, I complained to him about not being able to order anything, and they should have given me a heads up when I came in. He was kind enough to check with the kitchen and gave us a totally different answer. Apparently, it was a miscommunication with our server. The server was apparently told different things by the kitchen. Our server was really sweet BUT she might be overworked or stressed on that day since based on what they told me, it was very busy that morning. That could explain why she did not know the items on the menu, did not know what they had and didn't have, and did not know what we ordered. I asked her whether she was new and she said no. Again, the server was sweet but was definitely overwhelmed on that day. the host was great and delightful on the other hand, he checked on us often and brought us water. same thing for the busboy, he was really sweet). I understand they only had a soft opening and staff were still trying to adjust. For non-Japanese speakers, memorizing or pronouncing some of the menus items can be really challenging, but if you decide to have this job, one thing you should definitely work on is nailing those words. There wasn't any introductions of the food from the food runners when the food were delivered. Oh, they even delivered some sushis to the wrong table multiple times, on top of not knowing what roll it is.... The whole situation definitely ruined our appetite. We almost walked out when the server told us that they didn't have sashimi/nigiris and A5 beef because there was basically nothing left to order. I understand the struggles of opening a brand new restaurant, and on days like that servers could be overworked. Serving is a hard work and I'm not arguing about that. But from a customer's stand point, especially on a special occasion like this, these kind of issues really ruin the entire experience. They have a group of really nice and patient staff, so hopefully they will get a better flow soon, and maybe we will be back to check it out again. read more

Is this a place to take kids?
This place struck me as a place to take a date. I don't know if there is a conveyor belt sushi place in SLC, but that type of thing is always entertaing for kids .
What ranged our the menu prices?
Around 15$ you can find the menu on their website. But they are serving steak and sushi don't expect it to be priced at like taco bell.
