Delicious!! Great service, great ambiance, but the food is the real star. They seat you pretty quickly- when it is not busy. Staff is friendly. Takes a hot minute for the food to come out, but I see that as a good sign because that means they're actually cooking their food in the back. I love the layout of the seats and I like the music they play. You honestly can't go wrong with anything you order from here, but my three musts are: the paneer masala, garlic naan, and their mango lassi. The paneer masala is so creamy and delicious. Had a fantastic dinner at Bombay Palace! Ample parking as this restaurant is located in a strip mall. We were greeted and taken to our table immediately upon arrival. The restaurant was very clean and spacious. Our food was fantastic! I ordered the lamb boti masala and my husband ordered the chicken coconut kurma. Both dishes were a generous portion and served with a side of white rice. The lamb was so tender and delicious. Both dishes were incredibly flavorful. We added garlic naan and onion naan, both were delicious. We also ordered mango lassi & strawberry lassi. Both delicious drinks and not too sweet. To top it off, the service was great. The food was excellent. I kicked off the trend for mango lassis, so everyone at our table got one. My husband and I shared saag paneer and chicken tikka masala, and both were super. Our friends got something with lamb and both really enjoyed it. The only downside was that the service was very slow. It took at least 10 min before anyone greeted our table. It wasn't packed when we got there (6pm on a Thursday), so I'm not sure what the hold up was. A meal that should've taken about an hour took two. I studied in England many, many, many years ago. Any British foodie will tell you the first food you should look for in Cambridge is Indian food. You can research the reasons why this is true (it is), but for now, I'll get to the point...after one more story... when I lived in Sugarhouse, I used to call Bombay House (RIP BH) and they would answer the phone greeting me by my first name, and ask if I was ordering my usual for the evening...of course I was. The end...My purpose in telling these stories is to set the scene for my review not as a novice of Indian cuisine, but a true, loyal, long time seeker of warm spices and chutneys, & Ayurvedic waltzes in every bite. This foodies favorite cuisine. Hands down. Could eat for every meal. This is only with the hope I'll be taken somewhat seriously when I say with my whole chest that I just experienced the best Indian food I've ever eaten. Starting with the peshwari naan, then the chicken biryani and vegetable masala. All incredible. My daughter agreed. But here's the best and worst part...I've been ruined by the Rogan Josh. The ambience was good and the service was attentive. They played traditional Indian music and the decor was fine. Somewhat stark, but it was clean and not too loud which was great. We started with a samosa, then had the butter chicken, Shrimp Korma, Aloo Gobi. Everything was cooked really well, but flavor was just ok. The samosa was cooked crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. It could have been a bit more flavorful, but the chutneys were great. The chicken can sometimes be dry, but not here. It was cooked perfectly moist. The shrimp korma had coconut in it which made it way too sweet. I'd recommend asking for it without coconut. All in all, everything was good. We had vegetable samosas, garlic naan, Chicken Makhani, and Lamb Coconut Kurma, both entrees ordered with medium spice, enough to make your nose run, but still enjoyable. First time trying this place and we were so excited-but unfortunately, we left disappointed. We ordered the butter chicken and lamb korma, and both tasted very different from any other Indian restaurant I've been to. We were especially looking forward to the naan after seeing so many great reviews. When we arrived, we were told there had been a power issue and they couldn't make the garlic naan we ordered. They offered us plain naan instead, which was fine, but when we asked if we could get an extra piece since they couldn't provide the garlic naan, we were told no and that we should ask for extra next time. To top it off, the naan was awful-thin, dry, and chewy. It also looked like they gave us half of a regular portion? Sadly, this place didn't live up to the hype, and I'll be sticking with my usual Indian spots. read more

It came with a mint sauce and tamarin sauce both were very subtle in flavor and did not overwhelm the appetizer itself. For our entrees we ordered the shrimp coconut korma, lamb Rogan Josh, and garlic naan. The garlic naan had very little garlic flavor. The shrimp coconut korma was too sweet for our liking, but they did have ample shrimp (it tasted like sweetened coconut was added). The lamb Rogan Josh was the winner. My wife and I visited on a Thursday night and were one of two parties there-come on, Murray, where are you? Let's support this restaurant! One complaint I've had about other Indian restaurants is the wait...but not here. We got our food less than 15 minutes after ordering-probably faster, but I'm estimating. Everything was delicious and fresh-so the speed wasn't because everything was premade. I got the (mild) chicken tikka masala and my wife had the (medium) lamb. She said the medium had a good kick to it, so if you don't like spice, stick with me on the mild side. No judgement here. The prices are fair-for two main dishes and two orders of (delicious) plain naan, it was about $40. They do have an alcohol menu, but we were not drinking that night. The food was delicious, the amount was perfect. I am not a chicken lover, but it had the perfect texture, the perfect doneness, soft, delicious, juicy. We ordered the one with coconut and the one with butter. Perfect jasmine rice! The atmosphere is very normal, the decoration is very neutral, but the really good thing about this restaurant is the food. This was my first time visiting Bombay Palace but certainly not my last. The delightful aroma welcomed us immediately and we were seated in the dining room by a very friendly man. All of the employees were so helpful and friendly and attentive. But the food...The food was absolutely incredible. We got three different chicken dishes - one curry, one mango chicken and one korma. We all shared and couldn't agree on the best. They were all soo amazing. We were so pleased that we even ordered dessert which is something we never do. Saturday night at 6:30pm there was nobody eating here. 30 minutes later the restaurant was packed! Plan accordingly. Service was exceptional! We waited slightly longer than usual for the food to come, but I attributed it to a kitchen making everything fresh. Overall my party of four was well cared for. What's different about this Indian restaurant? First, Spice. My family likes mild food. (Typical Utah) I like hot, so ask for their house made Spice Sauce on the side and add it on your own plate. 2. Cream. Unlike other Indian restaurants in the area, their recipes use more yogurts and creams. 3. Naan bread. Not too thin, not too thick. Slight char on the edges with a balance of chewy and crispy - ton of flavor. Onion and garlic naan was best. As for ambience, it's a strip mall location. What do you expect? We only waited 5 minutes for a table and everyone is always so friendly. I've been here two times and each time we're greeted by friendly faces. We had two stragglers in our party and they still seated us. Which is great. We got the assorted snacks for the appetizer, I have to say that I was not impressed with the onion bhaji but everything else was very well made. The samosas were the best though. They had so much flavor and were hot and delicious. My mom, husband and I all shared the Lamb Chettinaad, Chicken Coconut Kurma, and The Fish (Makhini). The fish was honestly so surprising, it melted into the curry and had a beautiful buttery taste, everything was well balanced and it was honestly one of the best fish dishes I've had. The lamb was great too it was perfectly cooked, and had great flavor, I'm not a fan of mild spice, but it's necessary when sharing. The Chicken Coconut Kurma was also full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Honestly Bombay Palace has some of the best curry around. Everything is always fresh and they have great prices. The Naan is also the best, the peshwari naan and the garlic are our favorites. The surprise of the night was how good the desserts were. The Pistachio ice cream is hands down the best ice cream I've ever had. It has plenty of pistachios and is absolutely heavenly. Honestly I will be thinking about this for a while. The kneer was also fantastic all the flavors were so well balanced and the rice was perfectly cooked and the cardamom flavor of the dessert was spicy and perfect. In an unassuming strip mall near the Lakeshore store, you will find the Bombay Palace. Hold up your hands to the sky and thank the heavens. You are about to have a very good meal. Take a step inside and breathe deeply. It smells good and must be part of your experience. Everything we tried deserved five stars. The kormas, Tikka masala, Tandoori chicken, Aloo Gobi, lamb Vindaloo, mango chicken, homemade ice cream.... There's not one dish I could not recommend above the others. Just plan on working your way through the menu. You will appreciate every single dish presented. The service was absolutely top-notch. Our water glasses were kept full. Attention was paid to our every need. We could tell that every person there was very proud of this establishment, and rightly so. We were told that their alcohol license was expected in the next couple of weeks. They were very eager to have that in place for those who enjoy that with their meal. We will definitely be back work our way through menu. Better yet, ask them what they recommend they will recommend the Naan, chutney, and spice level best for the dish. Unfortunately, I am sad to say that Bombay Palace's Indian food is flavorless. If I closed my eyes and tasted the food, I would not be able to detect the Tiki Masala or Saag Paneer. It tastes extremely Americanized with a lot of salt and little-to-no Indian spices. The onion bhaji is almost inedible because it so so filled with batter--they almost taste like plain hush puppies. The chicken pakora is also caked with flavorless batter and tastes like a normal fried chicken strip without spices. The chicken briyani was okay but continued the theme of being flavorless. The garlic naan didn't have any chunks garlic on it, and it seemed to get its flavor from perhaps garlic salt. I ordered this to go, and when I picked it up the service was friendly and fast. When I walked in to pick up the food, the ambiance of the restaurant was gorgeous! I am impressed with how aesthetic the decor is. Overall, I am greatly disappointed at the food because I expect to have Indian food bursting with flavors and filled with Indian spices like saffron. Bombay Palace lacks flavor completely. read more

We came on a wed evening around 5 and were able to get seated quickly. Service is good as they offered good recommendations and seemed to know the different tastes. Their "plain" basmati rice is far from plain as it is fluffy and light and has an amazing aroma with cloves and what looks like cumin seeds. Our server was "Lucky" and he explained how the basmati rice is different than other basmati rice. We loved the lamb biryani that was perfectly paired with calming yogurt. Their 1 order of garlic nann bread is huge and cut down in the middle and can be split by 2 people. Their malai kofta was a lovely smooth blend of flavor and it was NOT salty. I suppose if I were to suggest anything for improvement, would just be a facelift on the booths, they have exposed OSB Wood, which could easily be covered with fabric, cushion, paint.
