Pretty average place. We placed a pick up order which was ready very quickly. The food itself was good, not terribly fresh seafood but not bad quality either. SM Sushirito is offering take our or delivery only as of August 2021. I've eaten here several times over the past four years or so and have been pleased with the quality of the sushi. The couple who run the place are friendly and are concerned about the quality of their food offerings. The small sashimi menu item offers tuna, salmon, and what appears to be escolar and a white tuna, three pieces of each for $19.95. The wasabi is pungent and spicy but I'm not sure it is truly wasabi or a close substitute. A plentiful amount of ginger accompanied the sashimi. The fish portions were nicely sized and were flavorful and seemed fresh. I'll continue to come here for a good healthy protein boost during lunch. read more

As a preface to my review, I want to mention that I placed a to-go order online and my order took 90 minutes to arrive, so I doubt my experience would be the same if I had eaten in the restaurant. However, I do believe most of this delay was due to the restaurant and not the delivery service, but I don't know for sure. This was my first experience with SM Sushi and I ordered a number of items. My favorite item was the spicy scallop hand roll. It would have been much better if the nori had been fresher and not super chewy. It had come unrolled before it arrived, so this caused the roll to be unnecessarily messy. The yellowtail roll was also half unrolled when I received it. The color of the fish seemed a bit off and I couldn't really eat it. The sushi poppers were good but plain. I'm not sure what makes something a "popper" vs a sushi roll in this situation, but I have decided to not over-analyze this. The Alaska sushi burrito was about on par with other sushi burritos I've had. It was heavy on the rice and light on the fish, but the salmon that was there was extremely fresh and delicious. My biggest issue with this roll was that the menu stated it contained "snow crab", but it ended up being imitation crab. This was very disappointing since I ordered this item just because of the snow crab. I don't often give so few stars in my reviews, and if I were to rate SM Sushi on food taste alone, I would probably give 3+ stars. But the combination of poor construction, overly sticky rice, chewy nori, and weird yellowtail just could not be overlooked. read more

Craving sushi, found this online and ordered pickup: seaweed salad; salmon plate; crunchy shrimp tempura roll; and a veggie tempura roll. Entering the restaurant, it was apparent that they weren't seating inside and doing only a delivery or pickup service. This is a nice family run small business. The salmon plate was hot with generous portions, including a couple of shrimp tempuras. The rolls were right on target. Well seasoned, with all the accoutrements. The pickled ginger was strongly flavored and fresh. Just lovely. The wasabi was also strong and mixed in well with the soy sauce. The seaweed salad was interesting and delicious. Definitely worth ordering. Their website is a bit confusing because they order menu looks tiny. But if you look a bit more, a very large sushi menu pops up. Definitely an excellent value. This was just an incredible place, it looks closed from the outside but as soon as you walk in, the loveliest couple run up to help you. It's so tasty and easily the freshest sushi I've found in Utah so far. I moved here from CA last year and every time I've tried fish here, it's been lackluster. SM Sushirrito has been across the street from where we live since we moved in and it's been on our radar. We walked in and we were the only people there, but oh my gosh it was so GOOD. We ordered the small 12 piece of sashimi, two salmon avocado rolls, a Pasadena roll, and a coconut boba smoothie. The sashimi was so so tasty, I was so happy. The rolls were just the perfect blend of taste, they weren't shy about the proportions of fresh fish on each roll and the rice was a very thin layer. We got the sauce from the Pasadena roll on the side, the sushi sauce was excellent to add in small amounts. The Pasadena roll has shrimp tempura in the middle, and I'm normally not one to get tempura but the server reccomended it, and boy I am so happy we got it. I gulped it down so fast, my husband only got one bite in! The salmon avocado roll had a pleasant sesame taste, it was so tasty and we loved it. We've had a problem with sushi rolls here in Utah giving such large proportions of rice but SM Sushirrito has a nice thin layer that doesn't smother the fish. I am so happy we found this place! Oh and the coconut smoothie was so incredible. It reminds me of the Thai smoothies back in California. I forgot to tell them no boba but I will remember for next time. When I checked in here on Yelp today, I saw the cockroach review. (Same day!) It was a matter of life and death as I had already ordered my boba tea, and couldn't just up and leave- which, maybe I could/should have since the boba came in a disposable container. I got the avocado boba which was actually really good. sweet and creamy. As you can probably tell from the photos, there's not a lot going on furniture wise. Minimalist in a not-on-purpose way. In the middle of the restaurant is a big LCD TV playing Justin Bieber, circa the emo swoop haircut, and One Direction music videos. Weird. The fish wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to write home about- the rolls were attractive and presented well, but the taste felt overpowered by the sauces used. Speaking of sauce, the order of salmon nigiri I had already had soy sauce in it! Argggh, why do places do this? Wasabi wasn't spicy, but bland. I feel bad giving them three stars because they were so nice, but I feel that three is more than accurate and all encompassing. What was nice is that they gave me 10% off my order since I was a first time customer, and are apparently offering 20% off your entire order during lunch on weekdays. Gotta bring in business somehow! The environment is different but they have a tv on a hilarious pranks station and we were cracking up all through lunch! They only have green tea mochi but they have boba and will add it to anything like their Thai tea - yum! I got a roll and it was huge and good, but their udon tempura was the best. So so so good. My usual 4 yr old usually doesn't eat udon and she ate it up too. We were so entertained and the service was so friendly and fast although we were the only ones there. Got 20% off lunch too. Awesome! I think SM Sushirrito may be part of a small chain, but the sushi is fresh, prepared well, as well as served politely and promptly. There seems to be a two person staff every time I've been there, but they provide prompt and very friendly service. I am not a gourmet or epicure (I think I'm using this word correctly), but the food rivals that of the more expensive sushi places I've been to in town. In other words, you get a great bang for the buck. The building isnt particularly aesthetically appealing, the parking area is small and exiting with the intent of going south on Highland can be dicey during time of construction or when there is a fair amount of traffic. It took one visit, and I was sold. Highland Drive is littered with strip mall restaurants, many of which bleed into one another simply because they're all usually on the same playing field in terms of quality. SM Sushirrito is one of the area's hidden jewels. The environment is very casual, and the decorum is unassuming. If you're looking for something more visually dynamic, you'll want to seek elsewhere. With that in mind, when the food is ace, it really does not matter to me how "pretty" the restaurant is. In almost any circumstance, I'll always take bomb food over appearances. Not to get confused, there's nothing wrong with the way SM looks, it's perfectly bland, and I'm cool with that. But...most importantly....the food! This is the selling point. Finding quality fish in a landlocked state is half the battle. I've yet to have a piece of fish from here (raw or cooked) that didn't taste fresh. I'm very pleased with the inventory here, especially because I have had some less than satisfactory experiences with sushi in the valley. The menu is layered and has everything from salads to nigiri with all the goodness in between. SM offers all your traditional sushi restaurant favorites, so if you're feeling like playing it safe, they've got you covered. Additionally, they have the standard non sushi items (chicken, rice dishes, tempura vegetables/meats) for those who prefer cooked food. However, here are two of the big selling points for me that give SM the edge. Sushi burritos and boba smoothies. I love burritos and I love sushi, put them together, and you're an establishment after my own heart. The boba smoothies are mainly fruit based, but they pack a punch without being overly heavy. I must say, my favorite roll from here is the Vegas roll. You usually can't go wrong with a Vegas roll regardless, but SM makes these rolls fat and jam packed with goodies. If only they were open on Sundays, I'd order one of those bad boys right now. Which hey, added points for delivery. You can have them deliver via their own website, or UberEats if you're a fan of that method. I've dined in house a few times and ordered a few others, and I am genuinely impressed that the presentation looks good regardless. Not the cheapest game in town, but still relatively affordable all things considered. Lots of observations here, so perhaps I will just go with that. This is not a particularly convenient place to get to, if you hit during the wrong time. It is by a traffic light on a fairly traffic intensive part of Highland, on the East side of the street. So, going North on Highland is by far the best bet, though the signage is such that you can easily miss it. You may not want to do that as it is worth seeking out. It is definitely closer to that much vaunted and ballyhooed great little "hole in the wall" spot, if y'all into that. Inside is a somewhat disconnected, but fairly typical Asian restaurant arrangement. J-Pop was on the tv when I was there. Cool. The menu features all kinds of various things, including smoothies. This might be too much and the hope here is that the place will catch on to the point where it can eliminate some of the side distractions. Both sushi and the "burrito" futomaki versions are on the menu. I went with one of each to try it out and they were reasonable as far as speed. The sushi roll was kind of an easy one as I went with Tempura Shrimp. Like many other styles of cuisines, the simpler foods, in this case a very standard, basic roll, what should be a sure thing, can also be the easiest to screw up completely, so they serve as great litmus tests. This one was acceptable, but not particularly anything else one way or the other. I also went with a futomaki roll, in this case, a Kabuki roll, one of the more popular ones, according to the server. I can see why and now sort of start to understand the appeal of this. If done right, this can be a very happy experience. The construction here was perfect, the wrap was perfect and the fish quite fresh. I got most of the flavors in every bite and didn't have to worry about wearing a bunch of sauce. No lettuce or any other attempt to make a salad roll, like some of the other places I won't be naming and not attempt to disguise stale fish. Total win in all regards, though I still admittedly like the smaller rolls considerably better. This is great, though, if you're craving sushi and don't have time for a sit down experience and is easily the best version of this type I've yet had. Service was also great and the only reason this isn't a 5 is because I haven't had a chance to experience more of the menu. Not saying it will be, but would not be surprised to see the update push this higher...as it was, what I thought might be a throwaway, canvassing experience, turned out to be quite satisfying and tasty. Tasty, tasty cheap sushi. Restaurant is a clean little hole-in-the-wall next to a vintage arcade and a smoke shop. Owner-chef Christina will make your rolls to order. I get mine with thinly sliced lemon and just a bit of spicy mayo. Heads up: we ordered a regular roll and it came with a lot of eel/spicy sauce on top. This is a common complaint of mine but you can just ask for less. For now, you can order off of their super cheap lunch menu during dinner hours. I recommend the Geisha and Rocky Mountain sushirrito rolls (just big sushi rolls). The fish is fresh, the veggies are crispy and the shrimp tempura is crunchy, and the rolls are yummy and light. Run by the friendliest, hardworking couple who give personal, fantastic service and serve extra yummy, economically priced food. They just celebrated their first year in business. What an awesome restaurant! Couldn't have asked for better service! Everyone working was so kind, and even brought our 1.5 year old her own bowl of rice and mandarin oranges free of charge! Food came from quickly and was delicious! I was surprised at how big the rolls are! Really fresh tasting and filling. We even tried a strawberry mango boba smoothie which was so good. I have ordered from this place many times through Uber Eats and it started out really good but then went down hill. Their orders were delayed a lot. Also, the last two orders I received had the wrong sushi rolls in them. I let Uber eats know about this each time. Then I received a nasty note from the Sushirrito owners to me through the Uber Eats app. Apparently they don't like hearing criticism. It's not my fault they sent the wrong rolls. So overall, the food is good if it is correct. If you have an issue though, be prepared to receive some nasty comments and feedback from them. I walked in the restaurant a little hesitant from the surrounding stores, but don't let that fool you. It really is a hidden treasure and hopefully more will find out about this place. I was blown away by the quality of sushi. We ordered the Rock n' Roll sushiritto and Vegas sushirrito. Both were outstanding. They were giant rolls. Usually I have to order 4 or so rolls to be filled up but these were filling. Great price for what you get. We don't usually go for Vegas rolls, but the tempura on it was light and crispy and one of the better things ones I have tasted. I wish I had grabbed a picture of everything we got but before I realized, I had already eaten it all. I will definitely be telling more friends and family about SM Sushiritto. I ordered from this restaurant bc they deliver to my house. I was hoping that my sushi would taste okay because you know sometimes it can be totally amazing or omg what did I just eat. It was totally DELICIOUS and I would recommend it to anyone who wanted fantastic sushi. I ordered the California roll and the Vegas roll. It was so good that I gobbled both down. Lol i guess you could say I was hungry for excellent sushi. On top of eating fantastic sushi, my driver (he was from uber eats) was on time with my order and he was so polite and personable. We randomly discovered this restaurant and have ordered takeout multiple times. Delicious food! It's not in the most appealing location, but very easy to get to and there's always parking. Wish they would do curbside, but takeout is still safe - the entire restaurant is empty and you're far away from the kitchen area. Keep supporting local businesses. read more
