We love sushi and were excited to try this spot. I was very impressed with the inside. It's really clean and pretty, from the flooring to the lighting to the bathrooms. I feel like a nice bathroom is rare at a sushi restaurant. We were seated immediately, which is appreciated. We did come at 4:30 on a Saturday, which I think helped. Some of my random, less positive thoughts: There were no napkins, chopsticks, or ginger/wasabi on the table to start with. We have a three year old, so napkins are of vital importance. Every time we asked for napkins, we were given 4-5 cocktail napkins instead of real napkins. This ended up being even more inconvenient when our toddler spilled his miso soup on the table and floor, and we were mopping it up very inefficiently with what they had given us. A California roll being priced at $13 is a little much for us. Again with a toddler, we stick to the basics, and when the basics are pricy, it makes it hard for us to want to come back. They do have a kids' roll with avocado and cucumber--missing the only part my son cares about (crab). As a price conscious, inflation affected individual, I was put off by the least expensive rolls being $13, and most expensive being $17. I got the mango roll as it most closely matched my favorite roll at my favorite restaurant. I would not get it again. My husband got the "sex on the beach" roll and liked it but didn't have any outstanding remarks about it. The good news: - The service was great. Staff were friendly, attentive, and quick. - They handled our son's miso spill with grace. - They had a "sauce basket," which is super cool and unique. - Our coconut shrimp appetizer was AMAZING, as was the sauce that came with it. Seriously, so good. - The portion of noodles for my toddler was really generous for the price, which I appreciated. - I got salmon nigiri which was really good. (Note: if you get a 3 piece nigiri, you can only choose 1 fish.) - I appreciate how many appetizers they have at reasonable prices, and would like to come back just for those, honestly. - The wide variety is nice. I'd like to try sushi pizza sometime. And they have a lot of vegan options for those who are about that. - We had a coupon on the back of our Smith's receipt! If we come back, I think I'd try another roll or two (maybe the Caterpillar, Vegas, Geisha, or Rainbow) but would mainly focus on appetizers and small plates. This is one of my absolute favorite sushi restaurants. I have been several times and always get reliable, high-quality sushi and great service. Each time I go, I always get the sushi pizza. It is absolutely scrumptious and always beautifully presented. My partner and I came here during spooky season in hopes for some devilishly delicious sushi. Our wonderful server, Ismael, allowed us to officially name their spookiest sushi roll -- which we named "SpOoOoshi Roll". We felt honored to be able to name this palate-pleasing purple poke platter. Great service and a nice looking sushi spot, but the food was underwhelming. I came here for my first night in Salt Lake City and was looking for a refreshing dinner. The blue raspberry lemonade I ordered was great and looked amazing when it came out too! I started with some edamame and a cucumber salad. The edamame was loaded with salt and the cucumber salad lacked flavor. I ordered the Hawaiian roll, because the pineapple chutney sounded delicious, but there was very little on top and the roll was really just big chunks of tuna. It would benefit from some texture. The waiters were very nice and helpful, regularly checking in, the food just didn't meet the level of service provided. I really enjoyed their music though, as the combination of 80s, 90s, and 2000s music was excellent. read more

We went there for a birthday lunch after all the good reviews. We were not disappointed. Some reviews mention slow service but we went in the early afternoon and there were no crowds and service was excellent. The food was even better. It's been a while since I've had good sushi in Utah but this was great food. The rolls were large enough that 2 rolls and a side was all a big guy like me needed. I met with my fellow trustees of the Salt Lake Buddhist Fellowship over dinner at Keyaki Sushi. They seated 8 of us comfortably. Their mocktails were wonderful to start (see pic). Service was very attentive without being intrusive. The layout and decor was lovely and contributed to the ambiance. The edamame was warm and crisp and nicely salted. The miso soup wonderfully spiced and had just the perfect amount of tofu and green onions. The menu was well laid out and offered a great variety of dishes to please everyone. I had the spicy tuna roll and with a drop of habanero on each piece had just the right amount of bite. Our whole group made a unanimous decision to hold all our future meetings here. The sushi pizza is novelty deliciousness. My favorite sushi pizza is the spicy pizza (matcha is the name of the pizza I believe).... Fresh tuna with crunchy garlic toppings, jalapenos, and chili oil! The base is crunchy baked rice. It's a fun take on sushi for sure. I crave the pizzas all the time. Of course there is plenty of regular sushi roll options to try as well. If you're vegan, this place is for you. I was impressed of the amount of vegan options. Their drinks are very fun! Many mocktail options and added soda flavor. The food is great! I will say it took a minute for the food to come out (about 30 mins ish~) and I didn't feel like there was a large group or many take out orders at the time. They have daily specials and tons of fun menu items such as sushi pizza! We chose to do three rolls as well as an appetizer. We went with a special roll, a comfort roll, and a premium roll. When we ordered the sushi arrived promptly and was plated beautifully. They also had a basket full of sauces, each sauce was labeled and each sauce was pretty good. We used soy, eel, and habanero. The sushi itself tasted very fresh, the crispy rice was fantastic, AND the drinks were great. They have a huge selection of beverages! We landed with Coconut Cream Dr.Peppers, however, I do think we might try a mocktail or boba tea next time . Our waitress, although she was training, was very attentive and made sure we felt taken care of. She was very sweet and also quick to service us when we needed anything! Oof. What a stark difference from our first visit. We decided to come on a Friday night to see what it is like during peak times. Never again. The service and the food definitely were suffering from the overwhelming number of people. It was nothing like our first visit, but if had it been our first visit - it probably would have been our last. Instead of a cozy and intimate dining experience, it was horribly loud with wall-to-wall people crammed into the lobby area waiting on to-go orders that was made worse by kids screaming and people having to come back into the restaurant and shout, "Who has the white car?! You're blocking the exit!" (The parking lot is TINY.) The atmosphere was LOUD and obnoxious with that many people crammed into such a small space. (At one point I was even wondering if they were over the maximum occupancy for the fire safety.) There was primarily one member of the staff attending to the tables, but she was also cashier, bussing tables, and everything else. I get that she was overwhelmed, but when we ordered our appetizers, it was an additional 30 minutes before we even got our water. The "hot tea" we ordered was barely warmer than room temp. After we got our appetizers, it was as if the staff forgot we existed. We tried being patient, but eventually we had to stop the server and remind her that we hadn't actually ordered any food yet. To put this into perspective on how long we waited... two other tables sat down AFTER we were seated, got their food, paid AND LEFT before we managed to get the staff's attention long enough to order our entrees. It was chaotic and completely unorganized. One of the items we ordered came so late that we just asked for a box and took it home with us. I could not bring myself to give them one star because our previous visit was so pleasant. But there were serious issues this time around. The amount of people allowed to cram into the lobby/dining space definitely needs to be addressed. I am glad that they seem to be popular and doing well, but it made for an awful dining experience. They also really need to consider either having more staff waiting on tables, or cut down on the number of tables that they have. I can give allowances for prime time/Friday night slowness, but Friday night should not equate to a terrible experience that left me asking, "I actually paid money for that?" The food was sloppy, overcooked, and blah in comparison to our previous visit. While we might return in the future, it will not be anywhere near peak-times. If the parking lot looks full when you drive by... just keep driving! read more

The restaurant was modern and clean. We ordered the crispy shrimp sushi pizza. My husband loved it. My problems were that either the fried rice "pizza" part or the tempura crumbles on top tasted like their oil was old and it tainted the flavor. Also, there wasn't a lot of flavor. I added some eel sauce and spicy mayo, which helped a lot. It was very filling as well. We got jalapeño bombs which were good, but had a smoky chipotle flavor that I didn't love. We ordered the Fuji roll which was really good, it had a strong onion taste and almost tasted like an onion ring. The tanuki roll was not for me, but my husband loved it. We got a Maui drink which was really good, basically a pina colada, and the mangocktail, which my husband also loved. Overall this place was good, but needed a little something for me. We found this place while in the search for sushi and decided to give it try based on its near perfect rating. We ordered the rainbow and that was amazing, other places do not even come close to their quality of fish and flavor. The ONLY downside is they do not serve alcohol so no Kirin or Sapporo with your sushi/sashimi. Love the little bottles of sauces they have at each table so you can customize your sushi however you'd like! Parking is only a few spots in front so you'll have to drive around back. I heard they are moving to another location soon in Fort Union that will be much more spacious. I love the selection of sauces (e.g. spicy mayo, eel sauce, ponzu, and soy sauce) but the bottles were sticky and needed to be cleaned. It didn't take a long time to bring out our order, these people know what they're doing. Only giving three stars because the spicy mayo was way too mayo forward. It left a greasy taste in my mouth. In addition, one had to pay extra for it, which added insult to injury. Moreover, the amount of wasabi and soy sauce provided was teeny tiny and not adequate for the amount of sushi rolls (3 rolls).
