The place was packed and popular, it seems that their Tuesday special draws quite the crowd so we did have to wait a bit for our food but not too long and the staff was great at communicating with us and brought food to our table. As a vegetarian the options are limited to one taco the "cornivore". The cornivore was actually delicious and I would get it again. The tater tot nachos were less impressive. Yummy tacos and friendly staff. We ordered 7 tacos and all of them were delicious. Lots of flavor, stuffed with meat and toppings, and very filling. Couldn't pick a favorite as they were all so tasty! The guy taking our order at the counter us was great -- he was super friendly and gave recommendations and made sure the tacos were made how we like (I'm not a cilantro fan and after telling him that, he made sure none of my tacos had cilantro on them). We went at 8 pm and it's always a gamble going somewhere this late with how fresh the food is, and I was pleasantly surprised by how great it all was. The inside has lots of tables and seating. My first visit - got the OG & the fleeing californian. The OG was a great taco and loved the meat. Californian was messy and super spicy even without the sauce. Restaurant had the a/c cranked that I felt I was eating in the North Pole. Also paper towells out in the restroom. These little touches matter. read more

I get to Salt Lake City for work a few times a year and the last time I went, back in June 2025, somebody recommended I try the new Smoked Taco location. I have been to several smoked tacos in the area so when I took a friend here who had never been we walked in and the smell of dirty dish towels overwhelmed us so bad we could eat here. I was super disappointed because I had told her the food was good and the service was nice. We ordered The Fleeing Californian , The Hot Chick & The Memphis . These are all delicious tacos . Order them as they come with all the good stuff on them . They are amazing ! The front desk person/cooks were friendly and welcoming. Prices were reasonable. The tacos had interesting flavors but were not hot. The smoked pork was especially good. The beef was tough. The quacamole had an acidic flavor, so it didn't taste fresh. The shrimp were tiny and spicy. The serve-yourself drink bar oddly had no garbage can for straw wrappers and other trash. The food was passable but expensive for what you get. Everything is covered in either a sweet or extremely creamy/fatty sauce. Very little meat for what you pay for and the flavor of the meat is hidden by the mountain of sauce they drench the tacos in. The tortillas were fried and double stuffed with a cheese in between, more eye candy to distract from the lack of flavorful meat on the tacos. Not a fan of how sweet everything was either, after eating a fair amount of different dishes I was left craving some real Mexican, not whatever this is. This felt like dressed up costa vida for almost twice the price. To management, tone down the sweetness and add some more protein. I came here with a friend from work. They were very busy and the store was a complete mess. We ordered our food and waited quite some time before our food was ready. The tacos were a little sweet which I am not a fan of but they were a great quality. The tacos were a good size and the nachos were a great value. I wish the nachos had a little more meat on them though. I decided to bring my wife the next day. I ordered the tater tots and they were great. These guys do a fantastic job with their sauces. We tried the churro fries which were good. The quesadillas were not very good and I have to admit the chicken tacos are not on the same level as the tacos I got the day before. That being said the second day they were not busy. The store was still a complete mess. The tables need to be cleaned. They are so good, I insisted that we have them again so that my husband could experience them too! The food was terrible but it wasn't the staffs fault, its the food chain in general. Their "al pastor" tacos aren't actually al pastor. The pork isnt marinated in adobo and it tastes like they use liquid smoke. The tortillas are weird and didnt taste pure corn or flour. The chips were cheap and low quality and the salsa was sub par. The atmosphere is corporate and manufactured. If you want a crappy inauthentic taco then this is the place for you... otherwise steer clear. read more
