The menu celebrates the simplicity of Greek coastal cooking, where the quality of the ingredients…read moretakes center stage. We ordered the branzino, grilled octopus, and Black Sea bass, and each dish showcased impeccably fresh seafood, prepared with restraint and confidence rather than unnecessary embellishment. Having traveled through Greece and enjoyed seafood in countless tavernas, I appreciate when a restaurant understands that authenticity isn't about being flashy--it's about respecting the ingredients and welcoming guests with genuine hospitality. Loukumi captures that spirit beautifully. From the warm, attentive service to the perfectly executed seafood, every detail reflected the traditions that make Greek dining so memorable. It was well worth the drive, and every penny spent. This is the kind of restaurant you happily travel for more than once.

Those are my two favorite things to order at a Greek restaurant except for here! Both were the most disappointing Greek appetizers I ever ordered. The salad had no dressing and no seasoning whatsoever! The cucumbers were hard because they weren't ripe yet. I told the waiter, and he simply said they don't put dressing or seasoning because not everyone likes it which makes zero sense to me. The Saganaki cheese had no seasoning and the coating was soft. Luckily the dinners ended up being very good! We had the pastitsio, methismeness, and a chicken kebab. The pastitsio and the methismeness were DELICIOUS! The chicken kebab needed more seasoning, and it didn't come with any tzatziki sauce which was strange since we are in a Greek restaurant! There are too many good Greek restaurants in Astoria for everything here not to be up to par.

The octopus was a standout as it is always tender, perfectly grilled, and seasoned simply to let the natural flavors shine. The lamb chops were also a must-order and probably my favorite main dish. The meat is always tender, flavorful, and cooked beautifully with that delicious char from the grill. There's something really satisfying about being able to order a few dishes and have everyone try a little bit of everything.

I subtracted a star (maybe I should've subtracted more?) for service, because I have never felt so rushed during a meal. We sat down and immediately a waiter came to take our order. We are not regulars, didn't even get a chance to look. When the food came (pretty quickly), he practically threw the plates in front of us. Then he tried to take the dishes away THREE DIFFERENT TIMES when it was very obvious we were not done. (We'd been there barely 30 minutes at this point because I was parked at a meter and was keeping my eye on the clock). The restaurant was half empty for dinner so no one was waiting for our table. I don't know why they were in such a hurry for us to leave. As amazing as the food was, my experience was so bad that I will not be coming back. Maybe this should've been 3.5 stars...

The demand is so far through the roof that there is a nightly line for hungry folks looking to get a bite of their of their Egyptian / Mediterranean fare. By Ditmars standards, the place feels large and spacious. Their renovation from a few years ago is really paying off, Waiting is a part of the experience, as folks will eventually pick items from the display and cooked to their liking. It's hard to go wrong with anything on the display which for me include stheir chunky octopus tentacles, their succulent butterfly shrimp, grilled fish, and tasty grilled scallops. For a good time, combine it with babaganoush, lemon potatoes, beet salad, and wash it down with a mint lemonade. Service isn't the warmest, but dealing with a bunch of folks in line all day always creates a hardened attitude. Most are fluent in Arabic and English. While waiting in line, be sure to look at what's being served or have a list handy for ordering quickly. Your linemates will thank you. __________ (#1) https://www.yelp.com/biz/hamido-seafood-astoria-5

Good for both small and large parties Food: our favorite items were Kolokithokeftedes, Halloumi Cheese (grilled orange really elevated this dish), Beets, Horta (side) The Greek salad was standard. The fish was perfectly cooked but when compared to other restaurants did not really stand out. I would stick with the appetizers! Drinks: loved the drink choices, especially the Onassis Service was fantastic Highly recommend for elevated Greek food in a modern setting

The whole vibe felt warm and made it a really nice family dinner. My grandma and mom both seemed happy and enjoyed everything, which honestly mattered most. We ordered two Greek salads (definitely could've gotten away with just one -- they're huge and very shareable). We also had the Mediterranean spreads: tzatziki, eggplant, and a spicy spread. Everything was solid and great for sharing. We also got grilled octopus as an appetizer -- super tender and really well done. For my main, I had the grilled deboned red snapper -- absolutely delicious. It came with a creamy lemon sauce on the side that you can pour over the fish, plus oregano fries and grilled vegetables. The veggies were amazing, especially the grilled onions that just melted in your mouth. We also ordered takeout: kefte kebab with fries, which was maybe smaller portion but it was good flavor. For dessert we had a baklava float (I think that was the name) with coffees to finish. Very happy with the whole meal overall. Drinks at the bar beforehand were also a highlight -- sangria and a gin, lavender, elderflower, cucumber cocktail that my grandma actually loved.

The weather was pretty nice, and we had to wait a bit for an outdoor table since we were walk ins. We started with the seasonal mule with passion fruit. It was balanced and refreshing, though pretty similar to most mules. I also had the Vogue, which was so good. The guava was subtle and paired surprisingly well with the pistachio. For an app, we had the halloumi fries. They were really good, especially if you're a halloumi fan, but the portion was on the smaller side. If you're sharing with a group, I'd order more than one. I had the Turkish eggs and loved how well seasoned they were. The staff was kind enough to let me swap the bread for their biscuits, which I had heard great things about. Definitely worth trying! My partner had the Chicken Not Waffles, and I stole some of his cinnamon butter for my biscuit. So good! I also tried his pancake and really liked that too. The staff was incredibly nice to our pup, which I really appreciated, especially since she can be a little overly friendly. They brought her a big bowl of water and seemed genuinely happy to have her there. We really enjoyed our brunch. Between the food and how welcoming the staff was to our pup, I'd definitely come back!

We started with the basket of biscuits with blueberry compote, which seemed to be one of the most popular items featured in all the viral videos. I really wanted to love them, but I was honestly disappointed. The biscuits didn't taste fresh and were kind of tough, while the blueberry compote was bland and not sweet at all. Overall, there just wasn't much flavor. The coffee was just okay, and after the biscuits, we decided to leave and try another spot down the street rather than risk being disappointed with the rest of the menu. That said, the service was great. We were able to get a table right away without a reservation, and our waitress was super nice and welcoming. Our food also came out quickly. Maybe we just caught them on an off day, but based on our experience, I personally wouldn't come back for the food. Unfortunately, the TikTok hype didn't match our experience.
