Love the lamb and pork souvlaki! Not too pricey either. I have been ordering since January.

If you really want to hear about it, the first thing i noticed is that friend's are always searching for Frankie's Souvlaki, driving around like a bunch of lunatics. Once youbfind it, the truck that is, the menu shows prices and an "A" grade inspection sticker. Everyone gets so impressed by a little paper letter from the city, like an "A" means the guy cooking the meat is a saint or something. This whole food setup, it's about as ridiculous and depressing as anything I've ever seen. ​First off, you walk up to the blue food truck, and the side of it is completely covered with a giant menu listing every combination of meat, rice, and pitas you could ever imagine. ​Then you get the food you I orderedin a shouting voice, everyone is shouting, it's a total circus. They hand us our two giant skewers souvlaki sticks, somebody had the brilliant idea to stick big, thick slabs of bread right on top of the skewers like stupid little helmets. So there you are, standing on the sidewalk in dirty Jackson Heights holding two sticks of meat while the counterman in front of you is not exactly smiling, dude looks pissed. He's wearing a jacket over a shirt with a giant, goofy panda face on it, looking like a complete weirdo. ​If you don't get the sticks, you can get these aluminum takeout tins sitting on a tray, crammed full of heavy yellow rice, grilled meat, and pitas all wrapped up in branded paper. We also ordered a big white plate covered in chopped-up chicken, black olives, white sauce. ​It all smells like char and grease, and it's supposed to be the "best souvlaki" around, but the whole experience just leaves you feeling sort of sad and greasy. Astoria has plenty of Greek restaurants, but I wanted something quick and casual. Someone recommended Franky's Souvlaki, and this food truck was busy. I ordered the chicken gyro platter. It was plenty of food! They were generous with the rice, salad, fries piled with plenty of chicken. It is affordable too. read more

By far the best best best lamb on a stick and pork on a stick in the city. Combination of BBQ sauce, hot sauce and lemon juice makes it the best in my book. The workers are great and friendly. The best greek food truck food I've ever had. The meat was so so so tender, the sauces fragrant and fresh, the rice fluffy, the veggies with a great fresh crunch. Wow. It was so delicious. One of the better food finds this year as I write this review in December though I visited over the summer. Really great, that I had to go back and tell them what a great job they're doing. This place has been around for a while and locals know this place well. It took me forever to finally get here but I'm so glad I did. The chicken was tender which is a great sign because typically chicken from trucks is quite dry. Got the chicken gyro platter, but it was a little dry and disappointing. I thought it would be like the chicken souvlaki chunks like how it comes on the stick, except in platter form over rice and salad but it was the shaved meat, not the chunk on souvlaki stick meat. So it was kind of dry and by the time I walked it home maybe 5-10 mins out, it got cold. Also they put a white sauce over top, which also I wasn't expecting. It was dressed almost like a halal chicken over rice, but it wasn't halal but it tasted like that white sauce. Maybe I went with the wrong dish. I've had the souvlaki meat sticks at other times, and it's been good. I think it depends on the timing though because one time I got the chicken sticks and they were cooked perfectly, tender, flavorful and not burned, which I like. Other times, it's been burned on the edges, which I don't like, so I have to pick the burned parts off. Maybe I should specify don't burn it at all next time. The service is nice and prices are reasonable, and it's a food truck, but it's been a little hit or miss in my experience. read more

The person talking the orders was very friendly. As we waited for our order there were more people coming to put in their orders. The food was good at a great price. I've only ever ordered the pork souvlaki from here. It's so juicy, tender, and flavorful every time! It's quick service and friendly enough but don't be expecting to be chit chatting with the guys there the whole time because they're always busy! Which is a good thing! It's a food truck and it's outside on steinway so there is not really an ambience. There are a few seats and tables where they park by the banana republic factory store. This fantastic Greek Food Truck Never Ever Disappoints.... Our favorites are their shish kebabs; lamb, beef, pork, chicken & shrimp always fresh always delicious and seasoned perfectly & cooked over charcoal always ..... New one for us is their Greek sausage on a stick never tried it before until yesterday one of the best sausages ever .... Today I bought a stick but before the owner put his finger in his mouth to grab a plastic bag for other customer then he prepared my food without washing his hands . I throw away the bread because hi took the bread with his hands to sliced my piece. I won't go back . They are my go-to for delicious souvlaki - it's hard to get better than this. My main peeve is that they sometimes give you the tips of the bread roll to save money rather than just throwing them out, which are so tough they are nigh-inedible. They also have an additional surcharge for credit cards, which is not allowed - the normal souvlaki are marked at $4, but, as far as I can tell, that's actually the cash price rather than the card price. It's 2025, restaurants that do a credit card fee are annoying and inconvenient for customers, forcing people to run to the ATM. For these things, I have to ding them a star. Still, I can certainly recommend them if you're looking for good food. read more

From walking by and taking in the meaty air a week prior, I knew I had to return and try Franky's. I ordered a pork stick and a chicken stick for $4 each; they came with slices of bread too. The man taking my order wasn't really listening to me which is how I ended up with BBQ sauce on my skewers even though I asked for lemon. I guess I will have to return sometime to try the skewers without BBQ sauce since the pork and chicken seemed pretty good and flavorful. According to my friend who lives here, Greek is the way to go when you're in astoria. So we ordered some gyros and other delicious bites from Frankys and I was not disappointed. I have to say that our meal was delicious. We ordered delivery which I've never had from this location. I've only ate at this spot on site a few years ago. They are really generous with the portions that they give. I was very pleased that they gave a lot of sauce. The reason they lost one star is because our drinks were not sent. Definitely get the lamb platter or the chicken platter. Just know you need to ask for a pita if you want that added. I will definitely eat here again the next time I am in the area. The meat in both platters were juicy as ever. I expected our meal to be dry due to delivery, boy was I wrong. We actually had gyro sandwiches at their lunch truck in Astoria years ago. Today after a museum visit I was pleasantly surprised to see the truck at Lexington and 87th. I decided to give my son a little treat so I ordered a $10 chicken gyro pita sandwich. It wasn't busy so the guy took a while prepping and at the same time exchanged some pleasantries in the process. In the end it was time to pay for the food. I asked if he takes credit card, he said yeah. He took my card, swiped it, gave it back to me, and said you're all set. I was a bit taken aback because I didn't see the amount charged nor the opportunity to sign or specify tips. But I wasn't assertive enough to ask. A few days later I saw my credit card statement and found out I was charged $13.50 - a 35% premium! I thought that was outrageous. WOW! I bought this back home to Brooklyn and the souvlaki was still juicy!!! I would love to enjoy my souvlaki while it was fresh, but I just had lunch before coming. I loved the charred on my meat and it was super good. I had 3 with lemon and oregano and 1 with bbq sauce. They were busy so I think my order was messed up but it was still delicious. I stopped by my friend's place in Queens to chill and grab a bite. He grew up around the area so he knows all the good spots to eat at and asked if I was down to grab some gyro platters. I was down and assumed he was referring to King Souvlaki (he introduced me to this spot as well) but as we were driving, he directed me to another food truck spot. I had to Yelp-check this spot and it looked legit! Got there around 8:30pm and it had a line of about 5 ppl but went by pretty quick. So, this was a good quick stop for some late afternoon gyros- if you want that charcoal taste and a smaller cheaper gyro this is your jam. I think the white spa ice they used on the pita was decent but the sides we asked for tasted like sour cream- the lamb was sorta good, but tasted under-spiced and more like charcoal- all in all it wasn't anything amazing but certainly wouldn't throw it out of bed. Delicious food but there were many issues that I encountered. A bit expensive for the amount of food that you get. Moreover, they up charged me $2 more than the listed price for the Pork Souvlaki platter. I didn't realize it until I got the emailed receipt later on. The service was okay, about what you would expect from any food truck. The guy collecting the money would also handle the food without changing their gloves, which is pretty unsanitary.
