I first had Chiddy's when they were under a ghost kitchen in Sunnyside as a late night meal and I guess they were doing good since they they opened up their own storefront! I usually order their junior classic cheesesteak 7" for delivery when it's late at night and I need something protein packed / filling and it usually does the job... it's pretty quick, tasty and fresh! but today, I was so hungry and decided to order the "full" 10'' for the first time thinking it'd be packed I was so disappointed. I picked it up and couldn't wait till I got home - I opened the container, I took a bite, it felt like I was having mostly bread, cheese & "a dash of meat". I don't know if it was a bad day or if I should stick to the junior the next time? :(

3.5 stars. Chiddy's Cheesesteaks started out as a food truck a decade ago and now has many locations throughout New York. I've only ever tried them in Citi Field, but they recently opened a new location in Astoria. I ordered the below: Beef and Cheddar Empanada, Cheesesteak Empanada and Banana Nutella Empanada (3 for $13). The dough was crispy, light and was perfectly fried. Not at all greasy. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed these. My favorite was the Cheesesteak Empanada which was sooo good! Followed closely by the Banana Nutella Empanada. The bananas were slightly too ripe, in my opinion, but the fried Nutella made up for it. It was very messy to eat but so delicious. Junior Chiddy's Signature with just onions and cheddar ($12). It was a bit pricey for the Junior, which was 7 inches long, but it was also very filling. It had thinly sliced steak mixed with sauteed onions and a couple of slices of melted cheddar. The roll was soft and chewy and held up while eating. The meat with the cheddar was slightly too salty for me. I should probably have gotten the cheese wiz instead. Small order of Sweet Potato Fries ($7). Delicious and not too greasy. I usually like to dip sweet potato fries into ranch dressing, so I was really wishing it came with some dipping sauce. Alas, it did not. With a purchase of cheesesteak and any side, you get a free drink, and I got a can of sprite. Overall, I was very satisfied with the meal. I wasn't wowed by the sandwich but really loved the empanadas. Will be back to try some other items on their menu.

All right so boom... Off the rip: Rating: 4.4/5 Stars Nestled within the 31st Ave strip, Chiddy's Cheesesteaks is a culinary experience with a scrappy entrepreneurial spirit. From its modest origins as a food truck to its current brick and mortar, Chiddy's has carved a niche for itself that has been over done, but the difference is that Astoria/Sunnyside residents get to enjoy a decent Philly that isn't overpriced. The ambiance at Chiddy's is a warm and inviting atmosphere that is playful but not tacky decor. Whether one opts for a cozy dine-in experience or a quick takeaway, I'm sure you'll enjoy what they have to offer. Chiddy's truly shines with how each cheesesteak is meticulously crafted, merging the great ingredients with traditional techniques to produce a symphony of flavors that will make Gritty tackle someone. Despite their growth, they have managed to retain the essence of their humble beginnings. With that being said, Chiddy's understands that they aren't trying to reinvent the wheel. They take what they do seriously and that's something that needs to be appreciated. If you're craving a Philly cheese or any type of finger food drenched in cheese, pay a visit to Chiddy's. Also shout out to the staff working there, they were incredibly nice and made the experience more inviting.

We got the classic sandwich, and the cowboy! Both loaded and really good! Definitely recommend

Chiddy's is a great innovation regarding cheesesteaks in Astoria. Chiddy's, which took over the old Cuban restaurant last year, was recommended to me by a friend. We ordered the Pig in the Whiz and Falafel cheesesteaks, which were very good and filling. The restaurant is much smaller than the Cuban restaurant, which now has a facade of a cheese truck where you order. Would I be back? Maybe!?

THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE IT IS THE EXACT SAME THING THEY JUST SENT THE MOST BASIC ITEM TH HBAT THEY HAD READY-MADE

Most Asian…read morerestaurants in this neighborhood are fancy sit-downs, so it was exciting to see a quick, casual stop for Asian "finger food" (for a lack of better word) within my vicinity. Joju specializes in modern Vietnamese cuisine, serving meals like bahn mi, loaded fries, and rice meals. The menu recently added soy garlic wings, and since I am a fiend for Asian-style fried chicken, I of course had to have it. While all of the beverages looked tempting, especially their non-alcoholic soju refreshers, I needed caffeine to offset the afternoon slump that was about to follow, so I ordered a Vietnamese coffee. The wings were huge! It was notably crunchy, saucy, and juicy. There was a decent skin to meat ratio, (I so hate biting into a mouthful of breading), and the meal came out piping hot. It was clear the chicken had been fried per order. Those who know me know that I can't live without rice and would eat it with almost any meal, including fried chicken, so I did request it on the side, although the wings don't come with it. The man who took my order did me a solid and served it with mine, anyway. Good lad! I've been wanting to try Vietnamese coffee for a while now, and it was everything I imagined it would be. Sweet with a bitter backend - but not too bitter! I'm still new to coffee, and I pucker up at anything too intense. This was just right. My meal at Joju satisfied me, mind, body, and soul. I hope it is here to stay, and I hope that a shop like this is a catalyst for other quick Asian food stops to follow. Korean and Filipino restaurants - I'll be waiting!

Lyly tries to bring a modern twist to traditional Vietnamese cuisine UES Pho (3/5): They are known for their 5-spice smoky short rib pho, but personally, I didn't love the smoky flavor profile in the broth. The short rib itself was also overcooked, leaving the meat a bit tough and rough. On the bright side, I ordered an extra side of brisket and enjoyed that much more than the short rib. The broth overall lacked a deep, rich beef flavor. Saigon Shaking Beef (4.25/5): The standout dish of the night. The beef was absolutely delicious and perfectly flavored, though pairing it with arugula felt a little odd. Beef Wrapped Betel Leaf (3.5/5): This was just okay. It felt unique conceptually, but the flavor profile was pretty average

There was a line, of course, there always is, and the wait was longer than what we were willing to endure for fare as simple and as common as a sandwich. It was worth the 20-minute wait. We ordered the Milano special, packed with cold meats, tomatoes, pickled peppers, cheese, and lettuce between two soft sesame rolls. It looked magnificent. It tasted magnificent. Proscuitto burtata (amore) - fresh fresh fresh and quality ingredients. The proscuitto was perfect along with the burrata, arugula and balsamic glaze on ciabatta which was sweet mix. We were deciding on this one and the proscuitto tomato but we are glad we got this one! 2. Chicken caesar salad wrap- I think I could easily say this is the best caesar salad wrap i've had. The dressing was light and not overpowering with the mix of the chicken, croutons and outside wrap was a truly stellar combination. Very fresh and wasnt soggy one bit. the cookies: small black n white cookie, rainbow cookie and chocolate sprinkle and all were hits! my favorite was the black n white because the icing melts right off the soft cookie texture and tastes more like a cake than a cookie. There are a few locations, but I decided to visit this one because it was the most convenient for getting to and from home. I got there around 7:00 PM, which felt a little close to closing time since Google said they close at 9:00 PM, but it wasn't busy at all. In fact, I was only the third customer to place an order. I ordered the La Summer sandwich and added pesto. After sitting down and taking my first bite, I immediately understood the hype. Without a doubt, this is one of the best sandwiches I've had in a very long time. I'm not even a huge sandwich person when it comes to subs and deli meats, but everything tasted incredibly fresh. The ingredients paired together perfectly, and you could still taste each one individually. The only thing I'd change next time is the meat. I had no idea prosciutto was a type of ham, but honestly, it didn't even taste like ham to me. It was sliced paper-thin, slightly salty, and worked surprisingly well with everything else. Next time, though, I'll probably add salami just to see how it compares. Overall, this sandwich was a solid 10/10, and I will absolutely be back--whether it's to try a different sandwich or, if we're being honest, order the exact same one again with salami added. I will say it's on the expensive side, but that's New York City for you. Apparently, all of the ingredients are flown in from Italy. After tax and tip, I paid a whopping $28 for a single sandwich. That said, it was incredibly filling and definitely kept me satisfied. The workers were also really nice and accommodating, and the indoor seating was beautiful. The atmosphere felt like a fancy Italian café, complete with couches and artwork throughout the space. I wish I had taken pictures, but honestly, I was too busy enjoying what might be the best sandwich I've had in years.
