This is a meat store/ German market that has been around in this area for ages. I don't think I have ever had a sandwich from here before. I got turkey with crispy bacon bits, guac on the side and there were tomatoes on here too. It was pretty tasty. They have many other kinds of meats here and other german items here. I am going to be back and check out more of their sandwiches. The people who work here are nice. This is a small place, but it has alot in it. read more

I've enjoyed their liverwurst for years...BUT this year it obviously has had some kind of filler added to it! One of the greatest deli sandwiches I have ever had in my life. It's on the pricier side but 10000% worth it. Every aspect of it was insane. The Turkey club was absolutely amazing. Filled with Prosciutto, Smoked Coppa, Mortadella, Stracciatella, Fried Eggplant, and Roasted Red Peppers in a seeded hero. The fried eggplant was unique to me and I thought it added great flavor and texture. Definitely worth the price because it was a big sandwich and every bite was heavenly. This is one of the most famous butcher shops in the city. S&W has been supplying hungry Upper East Siders with charcuterie and more since FDR was popping wheelies around the White House. It's no surprise that S&W are still doing their meaty thing. The quality is legit. But you may not realize--this place also sells banging sandwiches. I mean, it makes sense. God only knows how many metric tons of meat S&W has sold in their 85 years. Nonetheless, they did not have to make their sammys go so hard. The Italian hero is fantastic. The protein to carb ratio is heavily in your favor, but there is more to the composition than just bread and meat. The fried zucchini and red pepper add acid and snap, for balance. Stopped in for lunch. Pretty interesting place. You go up to an outside window and order your food and drink. There is a small seating and standing area to eat. I ordered the classic with potato salad. The classic is a bratwurst, sauerkraut and mustard on a pretzel roll. The brat as flavorful, the kraut a little sweet and mustard not the spicy. The pretzel roll was soft. The potato salad was German. Very good. I had a tall Ebbs Lager a very refreshing beer. The guy who took my order was very friendly. read more

Schaller & Weber is the only place I buy my bacon. Their double smoked bacon is incredible! They will slice it for you to your desired thickness. There is no going back to any pork or turkey bacon, no matter how well it tastes like the real thing. This is the real thing and the only thing in my book! Oh yes, they have a myriad of other great things on offer: sandwiches, wurst, fried chicken, baked wonders, beer and their house made mustards. I always buy their house made mustard. Some days they have some special offerings behind the deli and meat counter, such as Schweinshaxen. The price is steep if you compare to it in Germany. But hey they brought the stuff all the way from Germany so you have to take shipping into consideration. When I came into the shop, I felt that I walked into a mini Germany. It's got all the groceries from Germany, from the chocolates, sweets, to seasoning like Maggi and Löwensenf (mustard). The meat section is impressive too. It's got most of the sausages that we ate in Germany. It's even got the type of beef for Rollladen. It was a disparaging visit (however the cashier are pleasant); the credit card intake broke down (again) and my husband and I were held back to get cash at the Chase across the street in order to get cash instead of the usual credit payment (customer before us had to forgo his purchase). Oh buddy. You picked the right place. Stopped by because I was craving a reuben and saw they had it on the menu. It's on challah, it's got pastrami cut so perfectly -- there's no stringiness -- and the ratio of kraut, dressing, and meat is just right. The sandwich artist/master/god told me it'd put me to sleep with the portion size, and he was right. Just a lovely little spot with great sandwiches and it looked like great deli meat. This is a review of the small food stand next to the main store. First off, nobody comes out to wipe off the 2 tables, which are sticky and dirty with old sauerkraut. I asked the woman at the stand for some napkins and she tells me that are on the table. I look, and I tell her they aren't there. She says in a louder, annoyed voice, "THEY ARE ON THE TABLE!" I look again and now I can see they are on the OTHER table, and they had been hidden from view because of somebody standing there. Ok, so, not super nice. We ordered 2 currywursts, which we love, generally. They came out super undercooked, almost mushy, with not enough sauce. Very disappointing experience. Will not go back. read more

I think I just found my favorite deli to become a regular at! Everyone here has been sweet, funny, and quick to give samples. At first I was confused, and then I realized they just know that their meat and cheese will sell itself if you just get a taste. I love the variety of German goods in this place. I haven't thoroughly explored, but the couple of times I've been here the number of German sweets towards the front jumped out at me. I've also gotten a couple of sandwiches here. Both were delicious. Personally I asked to have some greens added to my Italian, and it was perfect. I've been to some very traditional delis where they know their meat is good and are therefore heavy handed with how much they put in a sandwich. I'm all about balance in a sandwich. If you want to put lots of meat, great! Just give me a decent amount of greens or whatever else to level it out. I can honestly say the sandwiches here were filling, proportionally filled with goods, and tasty. The sandwiches (and most things here really) are pricier than your average corner store, so I'd recommend splitting! For two sandwiches and two bags of chips I paid nearly $50. The sandwiches are big enough to be satisfied by half, with some chips. I can tell coming here will expose me to new delicious deli meats, cheeses, and uncommon brands that I would not find elsewhere. Excited to keep coming back. read more

Fantastic German deli right off the new 2nd ave train station. They have a wide selection of patés as well which is a really nice surprise. This is a great butcher, but it is now using its success to fleece customers to the extreme. Prices are already sky high, but now they even charge you $32 for a couple of bones to make bone marrow! Ridiculous. Bones are usually discarded by butchers. I only go there exceptionally, there are alternatives with as good meat, and a 40% better prices. read more

had a terrible experience today at the store on 2nd Ave. I'm a very good customer, and today, 03/05/2024, I got somebody to help me out with my order( after almost 15 minutes waiting for someone to show up..)which I did not know the name, wearing glasses and full of tattoos!! He made all the containers extremely messy and he sliced the roast beef like a disgusting chewed piece of gum.
