I remember this place when it used to be Sofia's so I was excited to return to have brunch with a friend mid-December. The inside of the restaurant looked the same and I loved the holiday decorations that were up. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately, as there was barely anyone inside since we arrived close to the time they opened. With that said, it seemed like there was only one waiter which caused the service to be very slow. We ordered mocktails and I also got a couple of seasonal sangrias, which along with the bread, were the best items of the experience. We also ordered fried calamari and cauliflower, home fries (not pictured), and complimentary bread. The food came out lukewarm to cool. A good friend recommend that we try this place for a long-overdue catch up. It did not disappoint. I still have faint memories of the former Fontaine's, whxj definitely had seen its time come and go. Mission is very open and airy with comfortable seating. The menu is relatively large and varied for a new place, with a wide spectrum of options. I had the Spanish Harissa Chicken and it did not disappoint. The chicken was tender and flavorful with enough heat to let you know you were entering into something spicy without compromising the other flavors. The service was attentive and friendly. The pricing for lunch was pretty reasonable. J would definitely be back. Love this spot. Visited for the first time only Because I never got the chance to visit Sophia's and I am so happy I did. Love the atmosphere, The music and not to crowded. Musi had me Jammin. Man... where do I start with this one? We roll into Mission On Fire, and our waitress comes over - mad quick with the smart remarks. Great new restaurant that just opened on Boston-Providence Hwy! Came here with my grandparents and we were delighted. The interior is really cool- red & black chic. I ordered the chile relleno to go as I wanted to try this new place and it seemed like a good entry into their food. When I got it home, I needed a magnifying glass to find it in the plastic container they provided. The menu says it's a stuff poblano pepper but it was a pepper cut in half with some breaded on either side with nothing seemingly stuff inside. The menu description was definitely more detailed than the final dish. Mission of Fire needs work. Maybe we'll try the again in 6 months. Four of us went for dinner. It's very loud, unlike its predecessors Sofia and Vintage. I think it's because they expanded the bar size, forcing them to cram the rest of the tables too close together, and removing the sound dampening separators that Sofia used. Our table of four were shouting to hear each other. The food was okay; no complaints but not praises either. The fried calamari was prepared fine (ie not over fried), but the breading was bland. My cheeseburger was above average, but, again, nothing distinctive. My friends got the lobster empanada, which they liked, and unremarkable chicken dishes. There was no sense that items had been fired grilled (ie no flavorful char). Service was good. We had the same waitress who had served us many times before at Sofia's, so she knew her stuff. Came here yesterday with some family and so glad we did! We didn't get any drinks because we were still recovering from our weekend BUT. We were seated quickly and our server was so lovely, making sure we had everything we needed and our cups of water were always *full*. The appetizers were good but were a little overpriced for what they give you (tapas style but like, one empanada per plate which is meh). THAT BEING SAID, food was SO good. I got the Spanish Harissa chicken and my boyfriend got the Mission on Fire chicken. VERY much worth your money. His plate came a little after everyone else's and to apologize, they gave him A WHOLE CHICKEN (oh, FYI. For the chicken dishes, you can get either half a chicken or a whole chicken. We both ordered halves but THEY GAVE HIM A WHOLE TO APOLOGIZE, and only charged him for half! What service! We were so pleasantly surprised and it wasn't even that long of a wait for his food). I expected way better from this place. The food, seems to come from a can. The Clam Chowder was too watery, more like soup. It was bland and had pretty much no taste. The Oakwood Burger (in which i ordered medium well), was above well done and was burnt. It looked like pure charcoal. My party did not enjoy the food whatsoever and customer service was very poor and we had to wait a while before we got seated (approximately 12 minutes.) The Steak Tips we ordered were very salty and also rubbery. Like other reviews, prior restaurant Sofia, was amazing. i wish it was still here since the waiter was amazing and didn't need to write down anything. I'm trying to go easy on this new restaurant because we need that addition to West Roxbury. The decor was different than Sophia's that was good. Service was good though still in training. I expected more seafood dishes but it's a infusion of anything from Greek food to tapas. I tried the fish taco and I was pleased with the one that I got though is pretty expensive. The clam chowder had a little bit more the then described in the menu fair amount of clams and bacon. They have the section for rotisserie chicken three of us got different halves on the menu. I was so underwhelmed because there was no flavor and I honestly think Boston market as far better rotisserie chicken. A lobster mac and cheese had a fair amount of lobster in it but the combination of cheeses made it very heavy and thick. I will try again in a few months and hopefully they can fine-tune their menu. Drinks were good and I like how they changed the downstairs bar area. The gambas did not nearly have enough flavor. Burratta was good and also hard to mess up. We would have preferred more prosciutto with it. The empanada was tasty. The pizza dough was nice and the cook on the pizza was good, but it barely had any truffle flavor.
