A square white plate holds several breaded and fried fish fillets arranged over a bed of pasta with tomato sauce. The fish has a crispy, golden-brown coating, and the pasta appears to be coated in a red tomato-based sauce. The setting includes a wooden table with wine glasses and a jar in the background, suggesting a restaurant environment.

Always love a Saturday dinner at The Brickhouse Especially when we get to see the all-star crew--our lovely friends Jocelyn and Paola Excellent food, great service, and even though I skipped the bread pudding this time, the Paper Plane cocktail definitely delivered

Three beef ribs with a glossy barbecue sauce coating are arranged on a white rectangular plate. The ribs are placed on a wooden table, with part of a drink and a fork visible nearby. The image captures the presentation of the ribs, highlighting the sauce and the meat's texture.

The only thing more remarkable than the portion size was how quickly the steaming plates, heaped with the sort of fare that personifies comfort food, are whisked to your table, a mere half-conversation after ordering. The bread on the table may look enticing, but my advice is to leave it alone, otherwise you risk either ignoring your entree, toting home a large portion, or deciding to finish the plate then dream of your couch, whose support will be the only thing keeping you off the floor. Having grown up in Massachusetts, the Brick House has that unmistakable charm of starchy staples, frosty mugs, and folks whose look and demeanor smack of someone who donned a football helmet, or clutched a field hockey stick, on a crisp fall day in their youth and can now either put up a sheet rock wall faster than you can say Carl Yastrzemski or teach Spot over at Boston Dynamics to not drop a single thing except that very unnecessary 'r', should it happen to fall at the end of a word.

THE BEST RESTAURANT IN TOWN!! We visit Boston once a year for work. We came here last year and love the food. This year's visit was even better than the first time. The seafood is fresh and delicious. Everything has so much flavor. The restaurant is always packed, obviously because of how great everything is. The service is outstanding. Our waitress Jessica C. was amazing. I can't wait to visit again!

Love the brick house! Go to pasta and pizza spot in the neighborhood. Huge portions. Highly recommend.

Veal Marsala on linguini - A square white plate contains Veal Marsala with mushrooms served over linguini pasta. The dish features slices of veal with a brown Marsala sauce and cooked mushrooms. The plate is placed on a wooden table, with part of a person's hands visible at the top of the image. The setting suggests a casual dining environment at Brickhouse Cafe in Dedham, MA.

Ok, maybe I'm fussy but, this was the worst veal Marsala I've ever had. My family is Italian from NY so maybe I'm not aware of Italian cuisine in this area. We were greeted with a chilly response. We were told all the tables were reserved in an empty restaurant! We were placed at a high top in the bar area which was fairly uncomfortable after traveling for hours. So I ordered the veal Marsala and my husband mirrored my choice. When it arrived the veal wasn't breaded as we are used to but sometimes different areas prepare it differently. Our server, Jocelyn, was quite curt and not terribly welcoming, again we had the frosty feeling. She asked if we wanted bread and of course we wanted bread, the bread provided was a multi grain kind and a French bread, but we were starving as it was 4pm and we both had not eaten all day so.... Ok, veal Marsala was coming!! The food came quickly so we jumped in. The veal was flavorless and seemed like it was cooked on a flat grill and put on the pasta and the sauce put on top. There were mushrooms that were an after thought and barely cooked. The sauce itself tasted like Campbell soup. It was very watery and unusually sweet. I'm not sure what their recipe is but mushrooms cooked with the Marsala give it the depth. We didn't want anymore thank you. I guess that's what you get for getting Italian at a pub in the Boston area. We should have gone for seafood! A note: the bathroom was clean which usually Indicates a clean kitchen so I wanted to make note of that. The rest of the pub felt a little depressing with no music just a ball game on the tv in the bar. I'm sure there might be better options on the menu but you are being judged by strangers on what ever item they choose, so each item should be its best. It's a pub, not a restaurant, probably a good place to grab a beer. $60+ for two entrees with no drinks or appetizers.

Really liked the pizzas! We will definitely return or get takeout. I was a little cold in there, though.

Your old school kind of a place. Won't rush back. Service was great but the food was just blah.

Just okay to me. Nothing wrong but nothing stood out as really good or special. Just kind of mid in all areas.

Good Food and Service. Parking can be tricky. It's an older type restaurant with a bar.

It pains me to write this review but I hope it's seen by management and they address this issue. I had a friend visiting from another state (drove for 10 hours in snow and ice). I was excited to bring them here for brunch. I made a reservation online the day before just in case. We arrived at 10am and the doors were locked. The hours said they'd be open at 9am. Tried getting the staff's attention but it seemed like we were being ignored. I called the phone number several times. No one picked up even though I could see staff inside. I even tried sending them a message on social media but no response. We ended up going to the breakfast spot next door. When we were done, we walked past the restaurant and of course it was open then. Needless to say, this experience was super disappointing. Communication about updated hours or picking up the phone isn't too much to ask for. One bad experience isn't a dealbreaker but two will be. I hope management fixes this quickly.

That extra kick would elevate so many of these dishes. I'm seriously tempted to BMOP (bring my own pikliz) next time. And to the chocolate loc'd bartender... THANK YOU from the whole krew! Not one of us had a drop of alcohol, but your existence alone was the real pour. Orchid, we love you, just tighten up the speed a bit (you discounted the meal) and you would have 5 stars and we would be golden. Keep shining !

I brought my best friend, who also grew up coming here, and my fiancé. I was SO excited. I traveled from Puerto Rico to Dedham to come here specifically. I did not get the fried dough basket. What I got was a 20-minute wait in the cold and a hostess operating under the impression that a party of four is only "complete" when all four members are physically wedged into the booth like sardines in a tin. Our fourth was minutes away. MINUTES. What were we supposed to do -- get to the front of the line, say "no thank you," and return to the back of the line outside? We were hungry. Once seated, the waitress informed us that our fourth person could not join us and there would be no add-ons allowed. We ordered our drinks. When I asked about this policy, she raised her voice and told us how busy they are and that they just can't allow it and that's their policy. I asked, "So if somebody comes in, they can't sit with us even if they're not ordering?" She said no. Two minutes later, she came back asking if we were ready to order, one of our party was still reading the menu. She raised her voice again, saying the manager was AWARE of the SITUATION and the kitchen really needed our order in a hurry. Based on the way we were being treated, we decided to take our business elsewhere. As we stood up, we overheard the two waitresses say to each other, "Good, it's for the best!" She asked if I wanted to speak to the manager, and I said yes. I explained how I'd been coming here since childhood, how excited I was to come back, and that I'd never been treated with such rudeness at a business in my life. The manager asked if I wanted the table back. I said not really. She offered an unheartfelt apology, and we left. Grampy, if you're watching from heaven, I am so sorry. They've changed.
