Overall, I really liked the atmosphere, our waiter was nice, I liked the food, my company was happy, BUT: unfortunately my stomach was upset for the following 2 days. I had the gnocchi with mushrooms and truffles. I have had truffles several times in my life and never had issues. I'm not sure if it was the amount or something else, but something wasn't right. I don't have other food intolerances. My friend also ended up sick once because her gf food was cross-contaminated. I hate writing this but saying nothing feels wrong as well. I was excited to try this place since I've never been before. Wow, what a huge disappointment. We had a 5:30pm dinner reservation, but by 6:50pm (almost an hour and a half later), we'd just been served our main course. Because we had a 7pm show to catch, we had to pack our meals to go. The manager offered us a measly 15% compensation (on ONE meal) and barely mumbled an apology. The food itself was great -- for those who managed a few bites. This is a hidden gem. we usually don't go to Hyde Park but this restaurant is worth the trip even if you're coming farther than we did. First our server Maeve: what a sweetheart. She gave recommendations and would have done anything for us... so sweet. We got seated in a lovely booth even though people were still coming in. So we felt taken care of from the get go. i liked the ambiance of the place: an old world small italian restaurant with a sweet bar and an imposing clock. Now the food: the carbonara the best we ever had and we have been to Italy many times. The coffee salmon with the sweet potatoes amazing and the dates in the snack section: addictive. i don't want it to get more crowded because i will be a regular now. We got complementary bread with olive oil while we waited for our meal. We got parmesan truffle fries to share and I got the Carbonara pasta. The fries were crisp with plenty of shredded parmesan on top. The carbonara was a deceivingly big portion that filled me up along with the fries. The pasta was fresh, and creamy, with bits of meat. The service was quick and my friend and I enjoyed our food and conversation. A giant, antique-looking clock above the bar gives some style to this place. Came here during restaurant week and had a wonderful time. The ambiance is warm, romantic and quaint. Such a cute spot for a date night. Food was delicious. For my appetizer I ordered the prosciutto and mozzarella. You really can't go wrong with this, a great way to start a meal. Next, I ordered the tagliatelle for my main dish. I really enjoyed this. It seemed like kind of a basic pasta but it was actually really flavorful, and the portion size was big enough for me to take some home for lunch the next day! Finally, for desert I wanted the tiramisu but by the end of the night they were all out!! So instead I had the chocolate cake which was ok...you could tell it was just what they had left. As for service, our waitress was new so I'll cut her a little slack, however service was very slow. It took her longer than it should have to bring out our drinks, and sometimes when we needed something it was hard to get her attention. One other small down side was that because this restaurant is on the smaller side, the tables were really close together. I felt like I was sharing my date with the two couples on both sides of us because we could all hear each others conversations. But despite that, overall it was a great experience and I would certainly come back here again. read more

We were very surprised by the hospitality, food, and drinks during our random visit! The day after the election, my friend and I needed a pick me up so we ended up at Antonio's! The inside of the restaurant is beautiful including a bar, high top and low top seating around the back of the bar! We had the complimentary bread and olive oil, which tasted as if someone's Italian grandmother squeezed the olives right in front of us! So fresh! We love a mussel so of course we had to try them! They were delicious in a like white wine sauce. The Caesar salad was just ok. But baybeeeee Shrimp Bigoli was to die for! The light lemon cream based sauce was my favorite and the shrimp were seared to perfection! My friend got the Carbonara and she said it was one of the best she's had! This place is super cute! A friend of mine lives near by, but had never been, so he suggested we check it out. The first time we went, we had a couple of drinks in the bar area. I went with 2 cocktails and my friend had a Stella (in the true Stella chalice!) and a red wine. He didn't love his wine, but that was his own fault for randomly selecting the cheapest one. Ha The second time we went, we sat directly at the bar. I chose the pinot noir for him and a pinot grigio for me. His was better (he agreed)! We also decided to split the prosciutto flatbread. We subbed the spinach out and added mushrooms instead. It was definitely yummy! Lots of toppings and a large portion for the 2 of us to share. Service here has been stellar both times. I can't believe I've been in the area for this long and haven't taken advantage of this place. Our meal was tasty and hot which made it perfect for a cool, fall night. They have outdoor seating in the back with heat lamps to stay warm. The lights and private feeling of the back patio made it perfect for date night. Portions are great here. The first plate is big enough to be a full meal. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this place and the polite waitress. Since I was craving Italian food I wanted to check out this spot. If you're looking to try very bland and flavorless food well then this is the place for you. I got the short-ribbed risotto and there wasn't a lick of flavor to it, I have had hospital food that was better than the food I had at Antonio's Bacaro, my girlfriend got the chicken fried lasagna and again it was very bland no flavor what so ever. We awkwardly lingered in the front for a bit, hovering over some gentleman at the bar before anyone approached us even though it was pretty quiet After we got seated we were admittedly very engrossed in our conversation, but the waitress seemed to wait for an opening instead of approaching us as expected, which never really presented itself. We ordered drinks, asked for water and refills a few times throughout our meal. The group was happy with their cocktails, which weren't terribly priced. The bread was disappointing, very generic like from a grocery store. We only ate it because we were hungry. The Oil and balsamic tasted funny, I don't know how else to describe it. We shared the: - espresso salmon: good flavor but overcooked/slightly dry. The sweet potatoes were very tasty - carbonara: also dry, needed more sauce - chicken saltimbocca: good flavor, could have used more sauce for the pasta - lobster risotto (it's crab on the menu but they ran out): this was a bit of a letdown. It was more like rice with herbs than risotto. Not very creamy, and there were random clumps of plain risotto throughout. I felt like everything could have used more salt. Salt/pepper wasn't on the table and we didn't ask so that's on us. We decided to pass on dessert. read more

Wonderful Valentine's Night dinner My wife and I went here for our Valentine's Date 2024. It was packed. Every table was taken, good thing I made reservations weeks ago. We have been here many times before, we love this place. Despite the very busy night, the server (forgot her name) was very polite and professional and attentive. We had 2 apps, the mussels and fried scallops. They were delicious. I loved the mussels more. My wife and I always order 2 entrees and eat half of each. Our entrees were Duck gnocchi and sausage/pancetta rissotto. Both were amazing. But I did like the duck gnocchi better. The servers were working hard and seemed extremely busy. But that is Valentine's night at any good restaurant. Our server checked on us constantly, cleared our table as soon as our app plates were done. Even though it was an extremely busy night and the food came our a little slower than usual, it was still a great romantic dinner. The wine kept coming quickly. My friends and I share family style we ordered: -filet mignon- we ordered medium and came outmedium well/ well. No salt in the meat, mashed potatoes were good tho! - chicken Milanese. I did not like at all. Did not have any flavor - carbonara was just ok - orecchiette sausage and rapini were definitely too salty. For dessert we tried tiramisu( pretty good) and torta di cioccolato( just ok!). Service was just ok as well. Price were reasonable Tho. I would go back for apps and drinks! read more

We love this restaurant! The best authentic Italian cuisine outside of the north end. The view into the street is so cosmopolitan for Hyde Park Boston. A great place to grab dinner after a show at one of the many theaters in the area. We especially loved the food; the richest Italian dishes - we order extra to take home! The layout is very traditional Italian with Primi, Secondi, Entrees, etc. Our favorite is their Carbonara! So rich and creamy - I get it every time in addition to my entrée!
