What's going on with Spazio's?? I live in Braintree and for years Spazio was our "go to" place. That ended this past week. I can't and won't anymore. The food has been well below standard and not even close to what it should be for what the prices have jumped to. We've tried on all the days, Tuesday through Saturday. It didn't matter. Lately, each time has been a disappointment in service and food. Where did all the waitstaff go? Last visit, I barely recognized one server. I'm SO sad about it. read more

I go here a lot. Food is very good, portions are big and they make a great cosmo martini. I love the breadsticks and "hummus" - the hummus is really a white bean dip. Whatever they want to call it, I love it. I've never had a bad meal here and I've been going for years. read more

The BEST (and most underrated) place in town!! A sort of hidden gem if you will. I've been here many times over the years and never had a bad meal. On my most recent visit, I came here for dinner with a friend. The bread and hummus we started with was delicious. I could eat that hummus everyday, it was that good! We split/shared our entrees which were eggplant parm and the stuffed chicken. Both were fantastic and just overall much better than expected. Whatever the chicken was stuffed with tasted amazing. The eggplant and pasta melted in your mouth. It was high quality comfort food all around. You can tell this place really cares about the food they are serving. Overall excellent food. The wine list is not extensive and is only by the glass. However the options we tried were very good. Food was very good and loved the option of a half order and full order. Pastas and antipastos were awesome. Table comfort was less than desired hence the one star off. The chairs don't match the table height leaving you feeling like a little kid pushed up to the adult tables when at a high top. Went to Spazio with 3 friends for dinner this week. If you are a wine drinker, let me warn you. The wine prices are a total rip off! I was charged $13 for a "glass" of wine that was such a small pour it barely filled 1/3rd of the glass. I can buy a whole bottle of many great wines for $13. The elderly man behind the bar is not warm, welcoming, friendly nor hospitable to guests arriving through the front door. He just glances and does not bother to say "hello", "welcome to Spazio", "Can I help you"? It was very off putting. And lastly, I ordered the chicken parmigiana. The edges were burnt and the inside was dry as sawdust. With experiences like these, it's no wonder so many restaurants go out of business. read more

What a great experience! Celebrated a Birthday event with a bunch of friends. The waitstaff were friendly, flexible and on point! The food was excellent. Calamari was tender and lightly breaded. Chicken wings were perfectly seasoned and cooked! Eggplant Parm marinara was delicious! The owner made sure to check in multiple times and the kitchen staff were awesome! Fine spot that's trying to be a little Italian bistro, I think. Tile floors and muted lighting make it a decent date night option. Food was a bit overpriced, in my opinion, though portions were adequate. Service was nice, but not fast. Felt like it took a long time for food to come out of the kitchen. When it did arrive, food wasn't awful, but some dishes felt bland. Would have loved to love this place, but it was mostly just average. Wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

We've started going to Spazio's regularly (as in pretty much every week) recently, as opposed to occasionally. The food is outstanding. We typically sit at the bar, get very attentive and friendly service from Brian. Their chicken dishes are simply the best around, particularly the brick chicken & stuffed chicken. Just watch the Pakis and Indians driving around at the Halaal/Hindu Market at the right end of the strip mall; they are horrible and rude drivers. Must try: Mushroom Ravioli and the gemelli pasta dish. Fantastic! The bread is wonderful, and they give you warm hummus and oil. Appetizers, must try the prosciutto and toastini with warm fig and gargonzola cheese. Perfection!! Reasonable prices, in fact, I was quite shocked that two entrees, appetizers, salad and two soda came to $57.00!!! Now today is Friday the 13th, July 2018 and the place was empty at 6:45. Now, I will also say the decor is downright horrible, but the food so good. The decor is a mix of knick-knacks, and cheesy water color prints. The tables are cheap, and the tiled floor reminds me of Terminal B at Logan Airport; cheap grey. I have been coming here for years and I've never had a bad meal, however my experience tonight was very disappointing. We ordered the antipasto and we got a burnt quiche a couple pieces of mozzarella cheese and some cold cuts and that was it. There wasn't any assorted cheese just the mozzarella and some cold cuts. My boyfriend and I wanted to venture out and try a new restaurant the other night so we picked spazio after hearing great things. Beginning of our experience seemed very disorganized- we had reservations and it took about 15 minutes for someone to come over asking if we wanted drinks. The bartender ended up serving us saying the girls went home- ok weird? Appetizers were not listed on the menu, we asked if they had muscles and he said yes. He brings over our "muscles" that were actually clams and tasted like a mouthful of salt. He did comp these for us as he should have. Our entrees were decent- nothing to rush back for at all. Our server was apologetic and friendly which is why I'm giving 3 stars. Most likely won't be back here, would rather spend our money elsewhere! read more

I had the pleasure of dining here last night. I live very nearby, but for some reason we don't think about this tiny restaurant. Our bartender was Karen, and the cocktails were great. We came here tonight because we had a Groupon expiring. We had misread the groupon(it was meant for four people, but there was only two of us). However, seeing that we had came to use our expiring coupon, they decided to kindly work out another deal with us. I wish I could give a better rating, since I thought the accommodation was generous, but other factors made the dining experience just okay. The service in general was slow. We got a couple of drinks but never got refills and were never asked if we wanted other beverages. We had mussels and clams with a tomato sauce as an appetizers. The clams and the sauce were good, but the mussels were not that meaty. Our entrees took quite some to get out. We had the sirloin and the pork milanese. The sirloin was quite dry and my husband had asked for medium rare, but it looked like it was medium well. The pork milanese had a nice crunch to it and I enjoyed the hint of the smoked mozzarella on top. The gratin potato that came with it was tasty, but a little too oily. The portions were quite large and we took some home for leftovers. We do not live near the area so we will probably not head back out there. I think it would make a huge difference if the restaurant could expediate the food more quickly and if they had extra staff to refill waters/bread/bring out entrees. read more

Went to this restaurant last night, Friday, and had a superior experience. We immediately received water and a bread basket. Our server took our drink orders and they were delivered in no time at all. My G&T was very good with plenty of gin. Our order was taken and our dinners came out, again,, in no time at all. We instantly had cheese ground on our meals. After enjoying a few bites of our meals (salad first, then a lasagna special and pasta bolognese) our server stopped by to see if everything was okay. Our empty salad plates were removed as soon as they were emptied. At no point did we feel like the staff was hovering over us but they were exceptionally attentive. Our meals were served hot and were very delicious. I had the bolognese and the proportion of sauce to noodles was perfect. The salad was perfect, very fresh with a very nice balsamic dressing. We will go back soon. It has been several years since we were at Spazio and I'm very glad we returned. Only suggestion is to turn off the music. The speaker was right over our heads and we noticed the sound of drums beating which was noisy. The place was very busy with lots of chatter, so there was no need to have the music on. read more

Absolutely the worst service and treatment I've ever received while dining out. For the most me and my girlfriend were ignored while new customers that just came in, as well as a large party next to us was lavished like royalty. Other customers seemed like regulars from the conversations I heard, so maybe that's why they got more attention, but honestly how do you expect to create more regulars by treating people like they were 5th class. The food was good, nothing spectacular but maybe that is the lack of service talking. I'll never know as I will never waste my money here again. When I spoke to the manager, she seemed uninterested in what I had to say, cut me off constantly and just seemed not to care and was counting the seconds till I would leave. Despite reviews, I decided to try this place....big mistake!! The service was HORRIBLE!! First we waited 15 minutes just for her to take a drink order. The waitress brought us our food and we didn't see her again until it was time to pay. When we were done, we literally waited 20 minutes to get out check, meanwhile she was walking by us the whole time! In terms of the food, I was not impressed. I was disappointed because I really wanted to like this place. But they burnt my lamb to the point of crunchiness! My dessert wasn't bad but my boyfriends taramasu was so wet and soggy, it was disgusting! We complained and they gave us a gift certificate to return but nothing can make me go back there! Tucked in the corner of a small plaza, Spazio wouldn't be a place that you just happened to come across. Originally two storefronts, the layout is awkward with two entrances leading immediately to a bar area that split the dining room in half. Apart from the layout, Spazio also falls short of the romantic dining experience it seemed to be going for. We were sat on the left side and the hostess quickly brought over a basket of two day old bread and a delicious hummus spread. The server, despite walking by 4/5 times, failed to acknowledge us (there were 4/5 tables sat between 2 servers). No draft beers though there was a variety of bottled beer and wine options. Our table opted for the chicken marsala, chicken under a brick, and sausage and eggplant pasta. I was a bit surprised when told that the chicken would take 25 minutes, but was pleasantly surprised by its juiciness and flavor. Everything was piping hot and my dinner mates were equally as satisfied with their entrees. I found the prices to be a bit on the high end for a strip mall restaurant with Spazio's type of decor and feel. The quality of the food may lead me back, that is if I can get over the rather uncomfortable feel of the dining area. Perhaps takeout is the way to go? read more

Would give 4+ stars but for truly subpar service from our waitress. Pre- dinner drinks at the bar were delightful. Efficient, pleasant bartender, good cocktails. Friendly hostess. Delicious bread and hummus (though warm bread would have been a nice touch). Good calamari, delicious carpaccio. Our party of 4 were all quite happy with the quality of our dinners. Our server never checked on how meals were. Never refilled water glasses. Never checked to see whether we needed a new round of drinks ( which likely would have beefed our check up by $30 at least). Took my plate before I finished eating. We sat for a long time with empty drink glasses, nothing on table and no offer of dessert or coffee. Had to ask another ( very efficient and pleasant server) to find our waitress. After coffee and dessert ( good tiramisu, but drenched unnecessarily in Hershey's syrup) we again had to ask the hostess to track down our server for the check. No offers of more coffee, no asking how dessert was. Hostess picked up our check payment because server was again MIA. We will probably be back due to quality of food and generally friendly staff, but will probably stick to dinner at the bar. read more

The food is bar none of top notch quality. I have been back many times and every dish is delectable. I was looking for a place for a group of friends to do a post-thanksgiving celebration, the usual Chateau (or how I like to pronounce it "shat-toe") was starting to feel like a chain restaurant and I wanted a more authentic cozy Italian feel. So we found this place and they made room for our party of 8 adults. Atmosphere wise, this place was great, we could feel the warmth coming from their exposed oven and especially from the friendly waitress (wink). Anyways, we were surprised to have learned that the variety of breads we received were homemade and not the common hard crusted rolls. Our group started with some grilled veggies and a calamari appetizer. For my main dish, I had ordered the night's special mushroom ravioli and my wife had the seafood pasta, portions were generous and a bit more than enough for me, maybe it was the extra bread I ate (shrug). My ravioli wasn't stuffed with all cheese, it was mostly filled with mushrooms and the sauce was flavorful. From what I could tell, everyone else was also very pleased with their dish. But I Must not forget the dessert (still drooling from the thought of it)!!! I was almost full but I managed to make room for the creme brulee, the top wasn't super crunchy the way I like it, but the texture and flavor of the custard melted my heart, my wife must've gotten jealous because I think she thought I was having an affair with it ... lol. All in all, it definitely wasn't a heavy meal, but from everything I ate that night, I can only remember waking up the next day. Highly recommend and will definitely visit again! read more

Off to a bad start! No tomatoes, please, on the wedge salad as I'm allergic to raw tomato, yet here they are! Our waitress was very apologetic and sweet about it. Hubster had the lobster bisque for his appetizer and thought it was outstanding! For dinner, I had the best chicken under a brick. So juicy and flavorful. It was wonderful! Hubby had the veal roll-ups stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese and prosciutto. He didn't care much for the sauce, but he hates all sauces, so no surprise there! For dessert I had a chocolate mousse that could have been a tad bit lighter and fluffier. Very good, but more of a pudding texture than a traditional mousse. The homemade whipped cream made it even better! Hubby had the carrot cake and swears it was the best he's ever had. All in all, a great dining experience. UPDATE!!! I'm a total pizza snob and Spazio's pizza is up there among the best. My children love the plain cheese and I love the spinach and garlic.
