Ok, first the good...the service is always great and the waitresses are always friendly and helpful. I ordered the steak tips and they were really good and a very generous portion. Their prices are reasonable and they offer lots of specials. The bad: the reason we went out to dinner was to escape the blistering heatwave and not have to cook and the AC in the restaurant was absolutely horrible. The waitress was trying to turn up the AC because customers were complaining but it didn't help. Had I known how miserable it was going to be coming into dine in sweltering heat I would've walked out but I just didn't have the energy. They need to invest in better AC! read more

While we have done take out from Gennaro's for years, when his father ran it, the food was excellent. We have noticed lately the Chicken Piccata quality has taken a slide, the chicken is tough and is cut into salad type slices, sauce is thrown together and way less peppercorns, where price is now near $30.00. Our Chicken Parm on a few occasions, has been sent out burned and the chicken has been, like eating rubber. We are writing this, in the hopes that the future quality of food at Gennaro's Eatery will come back to match the almost $30.00 price tag. We hope to love Gennaro's food once again!! read more

I always get the chicken mrsala with the rice. Sooo good. Consistent, been there forever for a reason. Great for seated or takeout. They have a separate counter for pickup, to make it as easy as possible. Don't for get dessert, tiramisu is the best way to end dinner. read more

Place closed for good on 8/8/26. Was a fantastic place for many years but the last 5 or so years quality and value had gone down hill. This was also the same time the son became involved in the business. Sad to see the owner have to go out like this. Rumor is a Chinese restaurant will be opening there. read more

It's old school with GREAT service, value and Delicious food Clean warm and inviting I go there from Somerville 35 minutes to greatness Pizza is so good too read more

Grabbed a take out order of chicken parm and a side salad for dinner on a Friday night. There is a separate back door where you can go solely to pick up take out orders which was very convenient. The back parking lot is very small and can get crowded though so in that case I would try to park in the lot across the side street. The chicken parm was well seasoned and breaded. The house salad was also simple and effective, did the job well. The to go meal also came with a small loaf of bread on the side which was a pleasant surprise! Overall, good food and HUGE portions that lasted me through the weekend! Will definitely go back to try more read more

Food: Chicken Gennaro Dinner (Roasted eggplant, pancetta, pesto drizzle, fresh mozzarella, crushed tomato sauce, rigatoni); BBQ Chicken Wings Ambiance: Cozy and intimate Parking: Free parking lot available Pricing: Somewhat pricey Food (flavors): The flavor combination in the bbq sauce is unmatched! The chicken wings were cooked well and had an adequate amount of sauce on them. I enjoyed the pasta dish, but I was not impressed by the flavor combination. It was pretty standard. Portion size: Large Drinks: N/A The service was great! The waiters were very friendly! read more

Gennaro's Eatery in Boston was a very cute Italian restaurant with delicious food. They give you bread and oil when you sit at your table. The New England clam chowder (not pictured) was delicious. Our server told us they win an award every year for the clam chowder, I definitely recommend. The arancini is good if you like sausage. The chicken parm was the best chicken parm I have ever had in my life, definitely recommend. Our server was super nice and personable and boxed up our food for us and wrote on each of our boxed what was inside. We loved it there but couldn't eat it all because it was so much food with the bread and apps. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Not one thing to complain about, both are meals were excellent. . It was off hours so customer wise it was quiet so service seemed very attentive. The music was Martin and Sinatra so it just gave you the moody of Italy. Haven't been there in several years but won't take me that long to go back. read more

Service was great, atmosphere was wonderful, it was like being in the North End of Boston. Food was very tasteful, though could have been hotter when served. This place has been in Quincy for a long time and just recently the owner's son, Anthony has taken one the "helm". Really have ramped up media visibility, advertising and introduced quite a few new menu items. Definitely will return! read more

Haven't been here in a few years. Figured we'd try it again since we were in the area. Horrible service. Long wait just to get drinks. One waitress was running the whole floor while there was other help twiddling thumbs. Food was flavorless. Calamari and Chicken parm included. My husband liked the chicken Marsala. Glad we filled up on the bread, which was great. Even the free cookie they give the kids was old and stale. Sorry, we won't be back (again). read more

I have ordered from here multiple times and usually the food is great. Unfortunately the other day I had the special which was stuffed peppers and regretted it! I had it at work and it smelled bad, tasted bad lost my appetite as soon as I tasted it! Have felt nauseous and had the chills ever since eating it. Feel like I'm gonna get sick! First time this has happened to me. Everything was bad and for the rest of the night I felt bad like I was gonna get sick! I don't know if the food had gone bad but definitely won't order that meal from there again read more

Attended an event this last weekend catered by Gennaro's Eatery. The food was fabulous. DELICIOUS chicken parm, chicken Marsala, meatballs, pasta, sandwiches and beautiful salad made with fresh, crisp ingredients. YUMMY!!! The service was excellent from preparations in restaurant who made accommodations and setup at location. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Gennaro's for your next party. They do not disappoint. -DotH read more

I've never had a bad meal from Gennaro's. Chicken or Eggplant Parm are outstanding. Love their sicilian pizza, very filling and delicious every time. Reminds me of the Italian cooking I grew up with! Portions are great and often I get a second meal out of them. Service is excellent, dining room is small/medium size, but I've never had to wait long, if at all. Wait staff is very friendly! Parking lot is kind of small but I've parked in the bank plaza across the street with no problem before. read more

I might be in the minority here, but I'm just not a fan. I want to like this place, I really do. My partner loves it but I am consistently disappointed. Everything I've had has been mediocre. Ordered take out for chicken Marsala and chicken ziti broccoli with white wine. Honestly really disappointed we chose here to get food from because everything was so bland. The 4-5 star Yelp reviews are definitely out of date. I ordered the chicken ziti broccoli with white wine and it tasted like nothing. The sauce honestly tasted like water lol and the chicken was tough. My boyfriend got the chicken Marsala and it was slightly better than mine because you can taste a little bit of favor but not a lot. Eating it was like torture, we couldn't even finish our food. Waste of money and macros read more

Ambiance was lovely, food was delicious. We had the duck & gnocchi and the tortellini carbonara. Both very flavorful, not TOO heavy. The oil for the bread was lacking parmesan but otherwise nice. Our server, Sue I believe, was very friendly. We enjoyed everything and had plenty to take home for the next meal or two! read more

Pizza was different from before and chicken fingers were hard as a rock. Did they change ownership?Looking for a new place.

I went to Gennaro's and got the Rib Eye dinner ( they were out of the Chicken Pot Pie ), to go, and I was so disappointed! It was disgusting! The container was filled with sliced tasteless meat, it sure didn't taste like any rib eye steak! Lots of fat and tasteless brown gravy! Even the Broccoli tasted funny! They gave me 3 slices of stale bread wrapped up which I could not eat! The only thing that tasted good was the potatoes!!! I threw away 90% of it! What a waste of $18.00!!! I honestly will never go there again! read more

My first experience here was when my husband and I came back to his hometown under unfortunate circumstances. I was in dire need of some good Italian dishes and there is none where I am from (California). I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food ( we ordered chicken parm / calamari / pasta ) it was delicious and is very generous in portions. The service also was fantastic! Our waitress Sue was very attentive and held great conversation! I was so impressed with them that later that week we decided to order for pick up to try their pizza - here is where it gets good. I was helping plan a funeral and as you know everything is done quickly and last minute. I was having a difficult time getting a hold of other establishments in the area and was getting very worried on what to do. In comes in my husband who mentioned that they do rent out the restaurant for events and that was all I need to give them a call. I was directly connected to Gerry and was able to come up with a plan right that that moment. He was very accommodating and gave excellent suggestions! I was finally put at ease that things were falling into place. On the day of the funeral - when we were arrived at our prior discussed time - everything was set up beautifully - we have had 50 people to our party. Everything went smoothly - food was amazing - people went back for seconds. The service was out of this world with Sue, Owner Gerry, His son Anthony and a few others I did not have the opportunity to get their names. Overall, we were treated like VIP and would highly recommend considering this place to host events or even have an evening out with a loved one - trust me you will not be disappointed. I have considered this a must do in my trips out here to Quincy. . read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I stopped by Gennaro's with a large group for dinner. The bread and oil dip was really good for a starter. My parents ordered the Margherita and they loved it. They said the crust was perfect. My dad and I both ordered the steak with a side of pasta and Mom ordered shrimp scampi. All of our dishes were delicious and the portions were huge!! It seemed like we barely made a dent and we had a lot to take home. I would love to come back again and try another dish. For dessert, I got the m&m cookie and was pretty disappointed. I prefer when the m&ms are mixed into the cookie dough. It seemed like a plain cookie with m&ms placed on top. Wouldn't recommend that specific cookie read more

This place doesn't look like much when seen from the outside, but this place serves fantastic Italian food. The chicken fra diavolo is delicious. Their desserts are pretty good too. I'm giving it four stars because I LOVE garlic bread (who doesn't?), but I'm allergic to sesame seeds and their garlic bread has sesame seeds. Having a choice of bread would be really nice... read more

Hasn't changed much inside. Great neighborhood place to grab a good meal and the pizza in the restaurant or takeout is fantastic!!! Wait staff are friendly and always helpful. read more

I should have read the menu description better because what you see is what you get. Their version of the Italian sub only comes with meats and cheese on bread. Super dry and bland sandwich. I know for a fact I speak for most Italian sub lovers - put some Italian sub toppings on this! Any variation of oil, vinegar, or balsamic to give the sandwich some moisture, and then any variation of lettuce, tomato, onion, hots or pickles. Should be putting these sort of toppings on every Italian sub unless someone specifically asks for no certain toppings. Make this sandwich better! read more

Gennaro's Eatery - The North Ender Sub - Italian Near Me - Quincy, Massachusetts

My wife and I went here tonight after reading all the positive reviews. All I can say is we had a terrible experience. We should have known it was going to be bad when they were serving stale bread. The only reason I am even giving it two stars is because the minestrone soup was very good My wife ordered the veal parm and it was so overcooked that it was tough, dry and burnt, so bad she didn't even finish it never mind take it home. I got the fettuccine alfredo with chicken. Chicken was cooked properly but the sauce was way too thick. Even for Alfredo This is the sort of restaurant you go to for large portions of barely edible food. read more

So dissatisfied and disappointed. After many years of being a #1 fan, I'm finding that more often than not, things have changed here, and not for the better. I get it,....there's always bad days at busy restaurants; I see more 'bad days" happening more and more here. this weekend, our take out dinner wasn't good. ~ we ordered chicken parm,...and received a tiny paper-thin, ( and I kid you not) piece of veal instead of the chicken . Gross. ~ we also ordered the carbonara .....very skimpy portion, with a salty creamed 'broth"....wasnt the great old thick creamy version. So skimpy on the tortellini. ~ the bread tasted dry and stale ( in the old days, I couldn't resist eating a roll in the way home),....this time, I saved the sliced bread for the seagulls. Sadly, this is not the Gennaro's I remember. What happened? read more
