My favorite was the Fig Flatbread and the service was attentive and the restaurant was not full at all it was still early in the day so we had a nice corner table away from the bar area made it much more pleasant! Wow!! Portion sizes have been cut by more than half! It was like I got a $25 kids meal! Will think long and hard before coming back. I understand prices have gone up but this was outrageous! My wife and I went to dinner here and had a really good experience!! Everything was positive and we walked away feeling content and that we got our money's worth We had made a reservation, and although showing up a bit early, we were immediately seated when we walked in. Our waitress was very kind, attentive and efficient. The whole "bring refills without being asked" mantra is a good one in my book and I always appreciate it! In total, we got the Fried Calamari, Chicken Franchaise, and Chicken Panino. All were cooked to perfection and were served to us very quickly. The sauce for me was a little extra with the whine flavor, it overall they were all good entrees. A great experience overall! If we make it out this way again we will probably be back :) read more

Was lucky to snag the last parking spot in the small lot they have across the street that was filled with trash. There is street parking around. Booked a reservation and had to sit on the bar side because there was a event/party happening on dining room side. Service was friendly, I ordered the chicken parmigiana meaning to say sandwich, thought by saying with french fries (the sandwich is fries or sweet potato fries) I would hope that would trigger the server (who was the bartender because of the party) ask if I wanted the meal or sandwich. When the meal came out it had no sauce on it and luckily the server noticed and was like do you want sauce?? uhh yah lol. It looked like two white american slices of cheese on top of dry sauceless chicken. Seems like they have some issues in the chicken, as they also put cheese on top of the marsala chicken meal. Old fashion was the best thing about this place, so the bartender knew what she was doing when it came to cocktails. Lastly I am very upset with the fact they had a 4% fee they charge if you use a card vs cash. I didn't see this note on the menu so if it was there that was my bad, but the bartender took the card without giving another warning (which I didn't have cash anyways) but that was addition to my bill and just seemed unnecessary for the prices they are charging for meals, they can cover the service charge. read more

I always wanted to try this restaurant just never got around to it, BUT when I finally did. I swear you will not be disappointed. The food was so delicious and the amount was just right! I love when restaurants don't over feed you or underfeed you. We were even able to have some leftovers to take home! The service was extraordinary, we did not have to ask for any small common sense stuff like napkins or drink refills, they saw and came thru every time! I love when servers are observant and just know how to do their job! We went on a weekday so it was a little quiet, but I see that weekends its usually packed. Where do I start. The food, the service, the atmosphere, were all excellent. The menu choices were fabulous, from pizza to some of the most elegant Italian food I've had south of the North End. The atmosphere is clean, casual and decorated like you're sitting in your grandmothers dining room. Our server was so friendly, and accommodating. It almost felt like we were being waited on by your favorite Aunty. The food was tremendous. The portions were enormous. If you leave this restaurant hungry, it's your own fault. All the food that we had tasted freshly prepared and of excellent ingredients. The desserts were just as phenomenal as the main course. They are brought in by a great bakery in the area, called Fratellis Bakery.. We will definitely be returning for another meal soon. read more

Our dining experience at Campanale's yesterday was a welcome throwback the finer dining that seems to have disappeared from today's restaurants. We loved everything! The server was delightful. The pace was perfect...neither rushed nor delayed, with nice little pauses between the arrival of drinks, salads and bruschetta, and main courses. The food was fantastic - creative, very fresh, and beautifully presented. I had the Chicken Gorgonzola and my sister had the Chicken Saltimbocca. Portions were very generous and we brought the leftovers home to enjoy again. The vibe was casual elegance with nice white tablecloths, great music, and since it was early afternoon, diners were seated with enough space between tables to allow quiet conversation. First visit for us today along with family who have always enjoyed the restaurant. It's a pleasant spot, quiet with very few diners on a Friday afternoon. Service was good, my chicken dish was good but really nothing special. Husband's seafood casserole looked amazing. Prices were somewhat higher than other local spots but not terrible. However, I do have one pet peeve and that's when a restaurant charges a fee for using a credit card. I didn't notice the statement on the receipt until after I paid otherwise I would have used cash. Statement reads "CUSTOMERS ARE SUBJECT TO 3.99% CARD FEE ADDED PER ITEM WHEN PAYING WITH NON-CASH. I know I won't be rushing back. read more

Authentic Italian restaurant with great food with generous portions. Been coming here for almost a decade and the quality hasn't changed. My favorite dishes are the Pan Seared Scallops with Angel hair pasta and the Chicken Gorgonzola with Penne which is so huge that you'll have leftovers for lunch or dinner. Meals consisted of chicken parm sandwich, chicken parm with pasta, chicken Marsala with pasta and veal and eggplant parm with pasta. All delicious. Everyone brought home leftovers. We had dessert and drinks. Ally, our server was great! We really enjoyed ourselves. That is until we saw a surcharge of 3.99% for using our credit card! Very pleasant family run restaurant. Service was great - attentive but not overbearing - and food was delicious. App of bread sticks & marinara was HUGE and tasty, same with side salads. We absolutely LOVE Campanale's, and pretty much go every week. It used to be a place we went to once in a while, but never regularly, and we pretty much thought of it as a "red sauce place" and stuck to traditional chicken or eggplant parms, lasagna, etc., with red wine. But when our regular Friday night place started going downhill, we started going to Campanale's more, and as we did, we started trying other dishes and drinks. Drinks here are awesome. The martinis are the best around, particularly the espresso martinis, my favorite for after dinner. Occasionally they have specials, which my wife will often try, and they are always delicious. In addition to the red sauce dishes (which are excellent - best lasagna anywhere), we've tried seafood, which is always fresh and delicious, and steaks and burgers, too, which are excellent. I particularly love their veal saltimbocca, but everything is always good, and they always have some specials worth considering every Friday. It's a nice, friendly place, too. We go here frequently enough that we usually have the same waitress, who takes very good care of us, and the bartender knows how we like our martinis, and the staff welcomes you and thanks you for your business when you're leaving. We like that the staff are always chatting with the customers, they seem happy to work there and are happy to have you there. If you've ever been to a restaurant where your server treats you like you're an imposition on his/her time, you know what I mean. We've done take-out and bought gift cards during this Covid-19 lockdown, and can't wait for Campanale's to reopen so we can get our martinis and friendly ambience with the great food again. My wife and I visited this restaurant for the first time on Saturday May 15th 2021 for lunch. We eat out often and have been to many restaurants over many years. Lunch prices here are very reasonable as follows. Chicken Piccata $12.00. Ravioli (Tortellini substitute) Primavera $12.00. The dishes that we got were extremely well done and artistically presented. I cannot emphasize enough that these two meals were the best tasting Italian dishes we have ever had, and that is not an exaggeration. The onion soup for $4.00 was excellent as well. If anyone has any doubt about these assertions they may feel free to see for themselves the quality and value of the food served here. Atmosphere is quiet and the restaurant is clean. Debbie, our waitress was welcoming and informative from the beginning, taking time with us to explain anything that we had questions about. In addition to the exquisite cooking and presentation of this establishment, the portions are large and you will more than likely be taking home a take out bag for another meal at home. Five stars for atmosphere and hospitality if Debbie is an example of what to expect for service. For quality, price and atmosphere we highly recommend this establishment. We will definitely return to this restaurant for fine dining and great service soon. read more

Took the Red Line to the end of the line in Braintree to buy some supplies at Michael's. As we walked back to the T, we noticed a sign for this place. We were hungry. We had at least 45 minutes until we got home on the T. We noticed $4 pizzas on Mon & Tues. Why not give it a try? What a nice surprise! We sat in the lounge with some of the friendliest people and watched Monday Night Football while we ate. First we ordered a cocktail. Those were well-made, so we moved on to food. Instead of pizza, we opted for the $10 dinner specials. My eggplant/ziti meal was tasty. The bf liked his chicken scampi. The calamari was a bit oily at the bottom but the peppers made this dish pretty flavorful. The calamari had a good texture. The bartender was great. The staff seem really friendly. While I don't find myself in Braintree often, if I end up there again, I'd love to go back to Campanale's. Great little neighborhood restaurant. read more

Had a great dinner tonight at Campanale's. We started with a stuffed portobello mushroom cap appetizer ($12). Which comes with two caps and was amazing. I had the chicken Gorgonzola for my entree ($16). Penne with mushrooms, prosciutto and chicken in a light cream sauce. I would not call the sauce light but I would call it delicious anyway. My bf had the chicken, broccoli and ziti ($16). He was very happy with his meal. We both had diet sodas. Our waitress was pleasant. The atmosphere was ok- kind of loud. I did have to put my coat on before dinner (dispute wearing long sleeves, jeans and boots) whereas every time the door opened the whole restaurant got very cold (and we were not sitting by the door). The food was very good. Next time I will consider having the mushroom appetizer as my meal with a salad (if they still have it as a special). read more

Great old school italian location. Came here for lunch with family and friends when we were in town. I always go with classic lasagna and it is always fresh and hot when it comes out. I enjoy the food here and the staff is always great and friendly to talk to. My wife ended up with eggplant parm which she loved and her family got everything from pasta to chicken dishes. I stopped by at an odd hour for a meal, you can call it lunch or you can call it dinner! I'd say this is a neighborhood joint with no fancy flair. You get the old school feel the moment you step in. The day I came in, they just cleaned the carpet so I was whiffing up some chemicals with my meal so this might a review based on a state of delirium! I started off with Minestrone. Very hearty with OK flavor. Not too bold. Then I created my own pasta dish consisting of cheese tortellini, bolognese sauce with meatballs. The tortellini was pretty big, not bite sized. I also cut up the ginormous meatball into pieces. Portion was good enough for two meals for my tiny tummy. Portions were huge. The 2 of us splitted a small Caesar salad, calamari, and a combo of chicken/ eggplant parm. We couldn't finish it. Caesar Salad: bigger than expected for a small. It was fresh n tasty. Calamari: Spicy n tangy from the peppers. Not bad, but wish it was less greasy n more crispy. Came with cocktail sauce. I prefer mines with the traditional marinara sauce. Parm combo: the chicken were pounded thin to create that crispness. Eggplant were tasty. All serve over penne. Oh did I mentioned that their thinly sliced Italian bread served with hummus is the star of the place? Also, the $3 soda came in a wine glass is refillable. Thanks to our server, she was very courteous and friendly n gave us our refills (my water w/lemon n his soda) without even having to ask for one. Now that is service!
