Just so good every single time! I hadn't been here in months and when I came in for lunch today, one of the employees recited my usual before I could even order. They are truly the most friendly people and it's always a treat to see them. I typically get a rice bowl with crispy flavorful eggplant, nice soft peppers and onions, and out of this world feta sauce. Also their pita is delicious. I absolutely love the Cedar Café.. I have not been able to get back here for a very long time and the moment they saw me they yelled out... "WELCOME AND WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" Sure makes you feel nice when they reach out to their customers. The YIRO is my favorite.. seasoned with so much flavor and of course their homemade tzatziki brings it all together. My son and I had lunch here yesterday and we both opted for the Greek salad topped with chicken gyro. While the salad was plentiful with excellent ingredients, the significant shortcoming we both agreed on was the dressing. In our experience, both dining out and cooking at home, a Middle Eastern dressing should be based on olive oil and lemon juice. Cedar's dressing was a slightly sweet vinaigrette which was served on the side, and necessitated pouring it over everything, including the chicken. That put a damper on our enjoyment of the salad. Finally tried this place after living in the area for a while and driving by. We came in just before the lunch rush but still felt pressured to hurry up and order - they were so busy - and so, because of that, ordered the safest item on the menu - a Greek salad with chicken. WOW!! This place is amazing. To start with, the friendliest staff I've ever encountered. I walked in and everyone was so friendly. I explained I'd never been here and it was like a family dinner, everyone suggested stuff, the owner even let me sample a few things. I ended up with The Santorini and it was killer . It was with zucchini but I wanted to try the falafel and the owner threw some on the side and a side of hummus. Everything was so fresh, delicious, and tasty. The owner asked me if I liked heavy metal music, which was awesome and threw the horns up \m/ saying he loved it. This past Saturday my husband and I were running some errands together and because we were in the neighborhood we stopped into Pita Gyros for a quick lunch. Every now and then I get a craving for a gyro and I was excited to try the ones offered here. We both ordered the gyro that on the menu is called an "authentic gyro". I am not really sure how authentic a pork gyro is..it might be however it's not what I am used to. I grew up eating gyros made from lamb shaved off a spit and this would be my preference. Here you can also get a gyro with chicken...which I couldn't imagine at all so that was an easy pass. In addition to thinly sliced pork, slices of tomato and the traditional tzatziki sauce, they included French fries inside the pita (why French fries?) and then topped everything off with another sauce, (they called it a "Special Sauce") which to me was reminiscent of the orange colored sauce on a Big Mac. The overall effect while tasty was a bit confusing with two competing sauces at play in one gryo. The French fries were pale and limp and totally unnecessary. If I were to order this again, I would tell them to hold both the French fries (so odd and unnecessary to have them inside the pita) and the"special sauce" and to put on more tzatziki instead. The place is clean, bright and with friendly staff. You order at the counter and bring your own tray of food to one of the tables. You bus your own table when you're done. All the food is available as take-out as well and from what we could tell they do a brisk business. There are many other things to order here including something interesting called a Rice Bowl where in addition to rice you pick your protein, sauce and other toppings. We will definitely return for another visit to Pita Gyro, but I will likely try something else on the menu before venturing back to the pork gyro. And of course if they want to bring in a lamb spit, I'd be in lamb gyro heaven. read more

I lived in the area for several years and never discovered this place until recently. I tried a bunch of things for takeout from this Greek shop. The authentic pork pita sandwich had sliced pork, tomatoes, onions, french fries, tzatziki, and a homemade sauce. It was delicious! The meat was not as salty as the one in Zo in downtown Boston. The authentic chicken pita sandwich was just as tasty as the pork one. The breaded eggplant which was served with tzatziki was also very good. It was still crunchy when I tried it at home. For dessert, I tried the baklava and the orange pie. Both were good and tasted a bit similar but I liked the orange pie more due to the orange zest. I think my only little complaint is with the falafel. I thought the falafel was a little bland and didn't have much spices in it. This place is definitely one of the best Greek places around the Boston area. I will definitely come back for more... read more

I've been coming here since the early 2000s when it was tucked into the heart of the old merchants row mall. I remember being so blown away by how unexpectedly good the meal was for a "random mall sandwich" and recall the long line of people I waited in (easily the most traffic in the whole mall). I eventually got a job at Gunther Tooties and ended up coming here on a weekly basis for lunch--the freshness, consistency, and flavor was always unmatched for food in the area. Well I just moved back to the south shore after many years away and I was pleasantly surprised and delighted to find I can still get this amazing food close to home! I love that they are still going strong and my pita tasted just as good if not better than I remember. Good for them for rocking the local food scene for so long, and now that I'm GF and vegetarian, I'm sooo grateful and I can still get some amazing takeout nearby because the options are slim AF. I absolutely love what the owners did to this location. The atmosphere in this new(not so new at this point) restaurant is very nice. It is weird to go in and see walls where there didn't use to be walls but i really like the layout. I love that you can see all the ingredients that are being put into your food, similar to the way chipotle has it set up where you pick out what you want. They have a good selection of choices for meats and zucchini fritters for the vegetarians out there. It was hard to choose a sauce because there were numerous that sounded really delicious. I went with the pork and tzatziki sauce in a rice bowl. The rice was so fresh and flavorful. The pork had great flavor as well but i wish i had a bit more of it since there was so much rice in the bowl. Overall i really like this place, they had delicious food and they also serve wine and beer. I will absolutely be back to try the other intriguing flavor combos. read more
