AC wasn't working but the place was very comfortable on a perfect summer day. Simply put, I ordered the 3 meat sampler with brisket, turkey and their special 41 (?) smoked sausage with a side of green beans and bacon. Food was great. And there's a lot of it for the money. Should carry me through the rest of the day. And that's fine. Also, if you're not moved by the stores memorabilia to our uniforms, you're not paying attention. Keep it up Mission. read more

When my very not-American boyfriend wanted to have one of his last meals at Mission BBQ before he went home on vacation, I could not say no. I think the look on my face when I agreed was amusement: if a restaurant could be a caricature of a certain type of American, this place is a patriotic Kansas Citian. I had brisket, he had pulled pork. The food was really good. The service is good. We wrapped up literally 5 minutes before noon, and chatted a bit while we prepared to get in the going-to-the-airport mindset...and then something weird happened: apparently at noon each day, Mission BBQ plays the national anthem, and you're expected to stand, salute the flag projected on one of multiple monitors, and sing along. I am American. I personally think the national anthem is a beautifully-composed but maudlin song. I have no problem saluting the flag, but I'm not the best singer and usually just mouth the words and let others do the work of singing. However, this was awkward and more than a little creepy: in the middle of a restaurant? Really?? Context matters. At the Olympic games after your countrywoman or countryman medals...totally makes sense. But not a restaurant. The level of discomfort I felt reminded me of being forced to pledge allegiance to the flag before school each day in grade school. First, it's creepy when it dawns on you that each school day began with a vow to your country, which you no doubt did not understand at age 5. Second, like NO ONE felt like standing up and talking at 8 in the morning, after you got up from restful sleep to shower, dress, eat breakfast, and take a half hour bus ride into school. Back then, kids weren't drinking coffee like they do today, so you couldn't even use that to give you a little kick so that you could function. I recall hating this moment everyday. So yeah, same feelings of wtf. And that's just how I was feeling. My boyfriend was also very uncomfortable. Fortunately, we were done and left immediately after. Although this was a good kick off to some interesting dialogue about weird American habits on the drive to the airport, this is not an experience I will repeat. In fact, be forewarned: if you are not uber-patriotic, avoid this place at noon each day. I get that this is part of the entire Mission BBQ theme, but I wouldn't recommend taking a non-American companion at noon unless you want to expose them to a bit of spectacle and feelings of awkwardness. Everyone is different, though: if you love random displays of patriotism and nationalism, gaze upon the heavily-decorated walls, come around noon everyday, and salute to your hearts content. Although I'm sure even the most patriotic Kansas Citians aren't getting up from their BBQ mid-meal to sing the national anthem. read more

The restaurant has a nice and relaxed atmosphere and the workers provide great customer service. You order at the front, receive your food quickly, and choose your seats. I ordered the brisket and mac n cheese, which came with corn bread. The brisket had good flavor but it was a little dry and cold. Overall, it was a pleasant experience! Very happy when we go here. I think we've tried all of the variety of meats. Everything is very tender, juicy and smoky good. I particularly love the smoked salmon. I also really love the seasonally selections of various items, this keeps everything fresh and adds variety. Not as good as all the hype. Paid $26.00 for 2 combination meals which consisted of 2 brisket sandwiches, sides and a drink. I expected to have a roast beef sandwich with fixings such as you would get at a bull roast. Brisket was just okay, no fixings such as raw onions, horseradish, etc.. The food is absolutely wonderful, but during covid it would be nice if the employees asked customers not to stand so close or cut in front of others for sauces while waiting for their order. I felt a little unsafe that the employees didn't say anything to the woman who cut in front of us to stand within 6 inches in front of us. Instead, they helped her with sauces and went out of their way to be kind to her while ignoring us. I had to ask for sauces and speak up that the food was ours when they put it on the counter. This is my first time and definitely not my last time here. My colleagues at work decided to eat here and the food was better than the places I order from and went to before hand. I ordered the brisket combo that came with a side and drink. The price is up there but it's normally $10 and some change. The Brisket was moist and little to no fat on it. Fell apart as I used my fork. There was a assortment of bbq sauces and the people that walk around took our plates and was very very hospitable. I came after 1245 so I believe I missed the lunch rush so I was able to get in and sit down with no hassle. read more

Open table, order to eat in or carry out. Pleasant greeting as I entered. Warm friendly counter staff. I had the spare ribs (5 bone), mac cheese and potato salad. Fair price including drink just under $15. I did not leave hungry. I will try the baby back ribs next go around. The spare ribs were salty but it was a rub style coating some may love it that way. Lots of people talk about this place like it has the best barbecue in the world. I just don't get the hype. I definitely came here with high expectations based on one of my coworkers' continued rave reviews of the place. I've been here twice with coworkers. I ordered different things each time and the food was very underwhelming. I'd never order the cold slaw ever again. It was tasteless and didn't provide the contrast or complement that I wanted with a side. Honestly, I've had tastier barbecue from street food vendors. My boss, who lives in Texas, seemed underwhelmed as well. He refused to use any of the sauces, saying that -- as a barbecue purist -- the meat should stand on its own. Downright awesome BBQ. I got the pulled pork on a salad because I was making an attempt to eat "healthy." Dumb idea? Yes, but it really doesn't make a difference whether the meat was on a salad, a bun, or just heaped on a plate. It was delicious! The pork was so tender and soft, and the 6 BBQ sauces you can drizzle on top were even better. I would throw myself in front of a truck for some of that sauce! I actually took home like 10 little containers of it and have been putting it on EVERYTHING I've been eating... Even BBQ sauce on leftover noodles. Hey, why not?! My partner in crime got the brisket sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. Sides are $1.99 and could be portioned a wee bit bigger to go along with the size of the sandwiches. One of the owners was behind the counter making sure everything was running smoothly. I stopped and talked to him for a bit. Super nice guy who was working his butt off to ensure his restaurant and employees were successful. How can you not appreciate that? This place is a hit or miss. I always go for the moist option but sometimes what I receive is just straight up dry and disgusting. BUT OTHER TIMES, it is perfect and delicious. Either way, I feel like Mission BBQ is just average and I'm not in love. I usually get the pulled pork platter with mac n cheese. LOVE how they have the different types of BBQ sauces at the tables, even though I only use one every time. The mac n cheese isn't anything special and I actually don't really like it. It doesn't have enough of the cheese factor and just tastes like what you'd get at a school cafeteria (bland and just bleh). The corn bread is on point though. Delicious and I like how there are actually kernels of corn in it. The staff here are really nice and attentive. But nevertheless, it doesn't make up for the average quality of food. Great addition to the Canton/ Brewers Hill area! The turkey was delicious! We also really enjoyed the sides including the mac and cheese, baked beans, and corn bread. In my whole life, I've never had BBQ this good. Never. Not in any state I've ever been to. The bbq chicken was seasoned perfectly, juicy (not dry), and melted in my mouth like butter. The pulled pork was also cooked and seasoned perfectly. It didn't need any sauce (but I put sauce on it anyway because there were 6 kinds of sauces that were all excellent). Took me longer to get to it in the parking lot than it did for me to get my food! They were so fast and did not miss a single thing in my to-go order and the food did not disappoint. My to-go order consisted of a few sandwiches (two sliced brisket and one turkey) and a bunch of random sides (mac 'n' cheese, green beans, cole slaw, fries, corn bread). Their menu has the typical BBQ items, and if you order simple like I did it comes out fast! The location is awkward to get to in the parking lot, however it is quite large and has ample seating both indoor and a ton outdoor, which doesn't really help us in the winter months ahead, but I am looking forward to Spring to sit in their outdoor patio! The staff was really nice. I asked for 6 sauces on the side and the girl gave them all to me happily, not that I was over asking or anything! (They also had a birthday email sign up where you pick up your food... heck yes I filled it out!) The food was delish... their turkey really is darn good! I have never has such moist, thick slices of flavorful turkey... I would normally never order this from a BBQ place (I am usually a pulled pork girl), but it is so worth it! The brisket sandwiches were also delicious! The fries, cole slaw and cornbread were great! The mac 'n' cheese and green beans were not my favorite. I really wish they had more veggie options for side dishes or even a cold macaroni pasta side, or potato salad. It's the best BBQ I've found in the Baltimore area! Smoky mountain sauce was a perfect match for the pulled pork and the Memphis Belle was awesome for the brisket. The brisket was ordered moist but wasn't too fatty. It was a little dryer and saltier than I would've liked (cornbread was kind of dry/stale too) but I'll probably be back. New customers welcome! We stopped in at mission to grab a bite to eat after running errands on a weekday night. We were greeted upon arrival by an employee named Dustin. I ordered the brisket and mac and cheese, which were AWESOME and ready SO FAST. They will asked you how you want your brisket, they described the lean or full flavored AKA more fat. Go for the more fat, you're eating BBQY for gosh sakes and it was absolutely delicious. To top everything off, Dustin checked in with us at the end of the meal to ask how our first meal at Mission was and even gave us a complimentary brownie to commemorate. I enjoyed their food and the environment they prepare and serve it in. I ordered ribs, mac & cheese and corn bread.The ribs & dipping sauce were yummy. The mac & cheese was very cheesy but, lacked that soul, soul food flavor. The corn bread was a little dry and stiff. I loved the ribs a lot. Nevertheless, they left we wanting more not enough meat on the bones or maybe not enough ribs for the price. But, it's for a good cause. Therefore, I really won't complain. This is such a cool space and the military tank outside the restaurant is a cool photo opp. I love the fact you can eat indoors and outdoors at this establishment. The cooking and wait staff were friendly. The cashier was young and clueless as to how to package a good deal for the buck. I really enjoyed my food and look forward to another visit. I gave the Canton location a try. I had only ever been to Perry Hall. I was more impressed with this location than I was with Perry Hall. I felt that the sides had improved (perhaps Perry Hall had an off night) and tried the pulled pork so that I could sample the different sauces on the table. They really are outstanding sauces, and the cole slaw was very good. Mac and cheese better this time than last time. Came out hot, came out quick and the service was friendly. Late lunch on a Monday and it wasn't too busy. A good option if you're shopping in Canton. read more

However, you get to walk into a beautifully decorated rustic style restaurant and are greeted with smiling faces eager to help you with menu choices. Close your eyes and point randomly to something and I assure you it's absolutely amazing. The meats and sides are all some of the best BBQ you will eat. The restaurant like all of them have a huge community presence and you feel good about spending money to support those who support us. The food comes out quick, hot and delicious. This place is really good. I was a bit skeptical, but based on other reviews and its location, we tried it out. The atmosphere is open, clean and having the TVs provides a laid back environment. I opted for the baby back ribs. Fall off the bone, moist and slightly smokey. They provide 6 sauces table side so you can pick and choose. We shared a number of sides, mac and cheese, baked beans, green beans and creamed corn.. all delicious. The corn bread was also quite good and would probably have been a bit better with some butter. Free refills on fountain drinks and they sell beer. They have a couple people walking around checking on you and clearing tables. Overall the service was efficient and friendly. I will comment on our cashier. She was Baltimore-nice. Meaning, it's nice for people in Baltimore, but not "nice" when you leave the area. It kind of tarnished the otherwise great experience. Have a little sincerity when you are helping customers decide what they want. I had no idea that this was not a sit-down restaurant so don't go in expecting that. Mission BBQ is an upscale fast-food place but it is definitely good BBQ. I ordered the brisket (wet) and tried all of the 6 sauces that they offer at each table. The macaroni and cheese tasted store bought as a side, so I would recommend something else but the brisket was spot on. The price was very fair (meal with beer for $11) and the service was excellent. I am obsessed with Mission BBQ! We came here for dinner and were so impressed. There was no line when we arrived so we were able to order quickly. I ordered the brisket with Mac and cheese and corn bread, while my boyfriend ordered the sampler with brisket, turkey, and jalapeño cheddar sausage. The food was ready so quickly! I absolutely loved the brisket. It was tender, fresh, and flavorful. So delicious. I tried the honey sauce, which was sweet but with a nice kick of spice at the end. The corn bread was perfect. Sweet, buttery, and light. The Mac and cheese was tasty as well. I also tried a bite of my boyfriends turkey. I'm not a big turkey fan, but the turkey was cooked well and surprisingly flavorful. I like this place. I was very skeptical just because chain BBQ tends to be the "even bad pizza is still good" kind of BBQ. I've been to one other Mission BBQ (the one up near White Marsh), and it was usually just OK and kind of inconsistent. This one however seems to be a lot more consistent. The moist brisket is pretty awesome, and the ribs are good too. I like that they have a lot of different sauces to try, although none of them are amazing, there's 3-4 that are pretty solid. I feel like the brisket can stand on it's own without the sauce usually, the ribs aren't quite at that level. I'm a fat kid, so I usually go with 1/2 lb of moist brisket and half rack of ribs. Sides are for wimps. Both come with cornbread, which is pretty good with little pieces of corn in it which gives it a nice texture. Also, the people who work here are extremely friendly and helpful. So not Lockhart level BBQ, but for Baltimore, it sure ain't bad. read more

This was my first time at Mission BBQ. My roommate and I stopped by to get a quick bite after running errands. I was in the mood to eat copious amounts of meat (as I usually am) so naturally I went with the market sampler. I knew I had to try the Jalapeño n cheese sausage cuz it just sounds delicious. It was good but not great. The cheese is kinda gooey which I wasn't expecting and didn't really enjoy. Prob won't order it again, I'll give the regular sausage a try next time. I wasnt sure of which other meat to order but knew I wanted something that wasnt healthy, it was just one of those days. I've never had brisket before and I asked the cashier if it was any good. She immediately offered me a sample and I was shocked. No fast casual establishments offer samples these days, or so I thought. She then explained that they offer samples of all their meats. They have both lean and fatty brisket and I went with the lean. The customer service here is excellent. I only ordered take out but placing my order was quite pleasant. When I told the the guy who gave me my order (which came out very quickly) I had never been there before, he patiently described all of the sauces to me and probably gave me one too many. But oh how I love BBQ sauce so it will certainly not go to waste. Do yourself a favor and go eat at Mission BBQ, this place is legit. I'm always underwhelmed by this place. I usually go to the one in Glen Burnie but I was in Canton for work on this day, so I figured I'd check out the brand new location. My training class let out at noon and I knew it'd be pretty treacherous going for lunch around this time. I had to wait for a table to clear up, which I guess is a good problem for them. It wasn't too long of a wait, though, and one of the employees handed out free samples of their roasted turkey, which was tender and juicy. I ordered the pulled pork, green beans & bacon, and their seasonal offering of sweet potato casserole. Everything was standard as usual, but the sweet potato casserole was an excellent acompaniment to my meal. I'm also usually pretty displeased with their bbq sauces but they've recently added this Tupelo Honey Heat, which is pretty amazing! It's perfect for anybody who really digs on that sweet heat sensation. I put a little bit of the Tupelo Honey Heat and Texas Twang on my pulled pork and I ended up really liking the combination, although it still needs *something* that I can't quite put my finger on. Vinegar? Either way, I'll probably give this place another try just to figure it out. :) read more

Disclaimer: This is gonna be lengthy but WELL worth the read. I'll start off by saying Jasmine is the BOMB!!!!!! My partner and I are not from the area and but he LOVES barbecue so we wanted to find the best barbecue in town and I'll tell you what, we sure did. We had no idea what we wanted, we just knew we wanted it to be delicious. Jasmine was smiling brightly as we walked to the front of the resturant ready to take our order but when we informed her we had never eaten at Mission BBQ before she offered to give us a run down of the menu. We thankfully said yes to her kind offer but what she delivered was much more than a regular ole run down, it was a walk through sensory overload town. She explained every single item on the menu for us in depth telling us how each meat was prepared, the color, texture, flavor, spice level, portion size, EVERY single aspect of information anyone could ever dream of knowing. Amazing. She was very very patient with my partner and I, making suggestions about what we should try based on what we told her we liked and what we were in the mood for. She even went on to explain every sauce there is to offer on the tables in house, telling us which were spicy, which were sweet, and more. She made our entire experience unforgettable. Jasmine, YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for making a regular Saturday night dinner an extraordinary experience! (The entire staff is kind, patient, and friendly, but jasmine is who we spent majority of our time with) We loved the ambiance of the Resturant. You get whatever it is you're looking for. If you want to come in, sit down, eat for an hour and spend the next 2 hours talking and enjoying the present moment with amazing service and people around you (like we did) you can do that here. If you're looking to be in and out, you can do that here. No matter what you're looking for, you'll get it at Mission BBQ without compromising quality or service. You won't be disappointed. Average BBQ, below average sides. I've been three times. This last time I left my whole meal in the trash. Got the "special" meatloaf - weirdly chewy and artificial tasting. The green beans reminded me of school cafeteria food - clearly been sitting in a tray for all day and were mushy and flavorless, and then I bit into something that was really tough and fibrous, no idea what. The mac and cheese was just one step above the blue box, but still ended up being the best thing on my plate. If there was nothing else around, this would be fine. If it was the only BBQ place in town, it would be fine. But with so many options right in this plaza, and absolutely stellar BBQ places in Hunt Valley and now Harbor East, I can't justify going again. Canton Crossing has good restaurants, and Baltimore has good BBQ. Mission BBQ doesn't fit either bill. read more

Okay so yes this place is very good and its nice to have a BBQ that is easily accessible to stop by for lunch or a quick bit. I would stay away from the brisket though, it was a little rubbery... its not really southern style cooking ...I may be biased being from East Tennessee but as far as the BBQ I have had in Baltimore it is very good! As a barbecue connoisseur I had been looking forward to this since the reviews are so high. I decided to get pulled pork, brisket, ribs, collard greens, and baked beans so I could have a full variety of flavors and what should be their best items. I must say that their sauce selection was excellent however the food taste was below average. I went with my husband and daughter who both got pulled pork sandwiches, beans and coleslaw and none of us were happy with our meal. Never in my life have I left barbecue on the table and did not want to take it home. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because of the military tribute of the restaurant.
