The shop was really tiny and felt cramped when we first entered. Luckily enough, there are benches for outdoor seating to enjoy your food. We mainly came for the durian desserts, however, if you do not like durian at all, there are still plenty of other non-durian options to choose from. We had got the durian mille crepe cake and I was thoroughly impressed with this treat! They actually had durian flesh from the fruit inside the crepe cake! I was satisfied to be eating the fruit inside of the cake instead some artificial flavoring. Also, the cake was not too sweet and I appreciate the amount of effort put in as each crepe was handmade by the workers in the store. I do think the desserts are a little pricey, but I truly think it is worth what it is as there is a lot effort put in by the workers there. I had the opportunity to try miss durian during night it up, I got the durian pancake and the durian custard in a plastic container you can keep. durian pancake $8 is the usual price, good size! lots of durian, good amount of cream. but most places that sell durian pancakes makes this beautiful super smooth yellow or green pancake, this place uses normal millie cake to wrap it which isn't pretty at all and becomes mushy. still tastes good. I loved the custard in a container... so it had layers of durian, cream and pancake. it did not taste like custard but just homemade whip cream, same as in the durian pancake but in a container instead. $12 delicious! this is how i normally like to eat durian, when at home... i take all the pulp and blend it in a blender and sometimes add whip cream. it becomes extra smooth and creamy when you blend it. try it! instead of straight the way it is. blend it! Ordered a durian 6 inch Mille Crepe over the telephone for a special occasion but it was quite difficult if you do not speak Chinese. The person who answered the call spoke very little English. I wanted to personalize the cake by adding a nickname on it but was instructed to text what I wanted written at the number I called. After ordering, I immediately texted what I wanted written on the cake. Sounds simple enough right? Well anyway the day I picked up the cake and opened the box, nothing was written on it. Apart from that, the cake itself was very delicious. There were huge chunks of durian seeping out through the layers of the cake which tasted sooooo good. Okay, so I tried this shop out of the request from people so that I may provide my opinion on it, so here it goes. First of all, I think it is not worth it to eat durian desserts from here. Not because they taste bad, their taste is actually okay (well I only tried the durian crepe cake), but the price their charge for their durian desserts just makes me think that it is not worth it. I believe you can find many durian desserts from around the city for better price (even though I know durian desserts can sometimes be difficult to find) But for example, you can go to TNT and buy the durian mochi, if your point is just that you like durian, this place wouldn't taste much better than supermarket desserts. I believe if they lowered their price down, for example like $7.50 for a durian crepe cake, then I would recommend, But A durian crepe cake is like $12 dollars which is more than $13 dollars after tax, it's not worth it. Walking in the small takeout shop, my durian-hating partner didn't find the smell overly offensive...but when I got home and opened up my small, 3"x4" plastic Tupperware box of Durian Custard, it was a different story. He ran to open the window, while I ran to get a spoon to shovel the delicious layers of large chunks of durian and creamy custard (described as a "sauce", and said to be made with no raw eggs), with a top layer of crepe. $12 is definitely not cheap, but a pretty tasty treat...as long as you like durian! Well, I pre-ordered a durian crepe cake on a Thursday, for pickup on the following Sunday, the person on the phone said sure, but leave me the details by text at this number, so that's what I did. The days after that, I never got a reply to my messages, but I figured maybe they didn't write in English very well, maybe on Sunday they'd text back for pickup information, but they never did. Finally, on the day I came to pick up the cake, they said they never received an order for any cake, and had no idea who I was. Luckily for me (and them), they did have a cake ready, and could decorate it for me and have it ready in a few minutes, so I wasn't too mad. As far as the cake goes, it was super delicious! I can't complain about the quality whatsoever. Lots of durian and fresh cream; it was just fantastic. Just wanted to put this out there for anyone thinking of ordering a cake in advance. Food is delicious, price is a little hefty. I had emailed them (missdurian@hotmail.com) to order a cake for my partner's birthday. I had quite a few questions and Kelly was quite responsive to my emails (she responds within a couple of hours). I ultimately ordered an 8 inch Durian Crepe cake. I had ordered it for a pickup at their store, but on the day of, they had sent me a text letting me know that they had to change my pick up location to a house in east end Markham! I was so distraught because I needed to grab the cake from the west end and then head back to Mississauga. I informed Kelly of this situation and she promptly let me know she could arrange to have me pick up at a store that was a couple down from hers. The cake itself was delicious (for all those durian lovers). Majority of the cake comprised of durian and there was little to no cream in it. Even relatives from Hong Kong loved it! On a separate occasion, I had gone in to get a durian ice cream ($6) and that was quite creamy. It was probably also made out of durian! I love this place, my review is based on taste and not price. Was it worth it and would I buy it again? 10/10 YES. I would recommend the crepe ($12) it's one of those "thousand layered" crepe cake slice. Each layer is filled with creamy durian with bits of chucks woven in it. It was really delightful. The Custard ($12) is a must. This has a really good balance of custard and durian. Miss durian nailed it! The durian has a really overpowering flavour but this you still get that gentle hint of custard in each bite. I was really surprised by it. The Jellie ($6) I didn't really like so much at first. It had a really weird after taste. However, let it set for like 5-10mins at room temperature. It turned out to be really creamy and flavorful without that aftertaste. Honestly I can't wait to go back and try more stuff they have. Like i paid 10 dollars (before tax) for a slice of cheese cake at the cheese cake factor and probably so many others. I was actually expecting a whole loaf for the price I paid to be honest but actually only got a small piece. My boyfriend and brother (who both hate durian) surprised me with a durian mille crepe cake from Miss Durian as they both know I love durian! This cake is hands down the best durian cake I've had. The filling was real legit chunks of durian and they were very generous with the amount they used. There was 2 layers of crepe at the top, middle and bottom of the cake, not sure if this cake is normally made like this or if it's suppose to be many layers throughout but nonetheless it was fantastic. I made both my boyfriend and brother try it, even though they are not fans of durian and they both said that they can see why a durian lover would enjoy his cake so much. The cake is a little pricy but for the quality and amount of real durian that they used, I see why and wiling to pay for such quality. I haven't tried anything else from here other than this cake, but I will definitely be back and recommend this cake to all durian lovers. This little unique bakery is quite tasty for thier Durian offerings, they are quite generous with the amount of durian that they put in and they are I think one of the better options for dessert in the area. I've had also the Mango Crepe cake which was quite tasty with the crème being light and not overwhelmingly rich. 3.5 stars rating - I got a slice of durian crepe cake from this place as a mini treat for my mom for Mother's Day weekend since she loves durian! Good news is that she loved it and it was quite flavourful! If you're a durian lover, definitely give this place a try! The down side is that there wasn't much selection in the shop when I went and seemed like they only had one of everything left. Also the price is definitely a bit steep at $10/slice (tax included). We ordered 2 durian mochi and 1 durian/mango custard dessert in small rectangle tupperware container. I was expecting for dessert to be under $10, but was shocked to find out it was $22. HOWEVER, when you eat the desserts - it is packed with substantial amounts of real fruit. The mochi was actually really good, light, not super sweet, mochi was just a bit on the thin side - very delicate, a little thicker would secure all the goods on the inside. The custard had large chunks of fruit, what looked some some layers of crepe and whipped cream. Kind of reminded me of a deconstructed mille crepe in a box - perhaps it was leftover ingredients. We bought two durian cake slices from this place. It seems authentic because you can smell the durian as soon as you walk in. I'm not a huge fan of durian but we throughly we would try it. We got the durian layer cake similar to what a mille feuille crepe cake would be except the cream was durian based and had a good durian flavour. The next cake slice was the durian ice cream cheesecake which had decent chunks of durian in it. It was also good with a nice durian flavour. Overall I would say the cakes are a bit expensive for a slice at $10. I like to try random things so decided to come here. I think if you normally like durian you will like the cakes at this location. Once you walk in there is a waft of durian smell and a display of durian cakes. There are millie crepe durian cakes as well as the durian cheesecakes. Yes, durian :P If you choose to stay in there is a small place upstairs where you can sit and enjoy the cake. The stairs are steep. Although I normally find it quite pungent and a little overbearing the cheesecake itself was still quite good. She probably kept it in the fridge for a long time as the cake was still frozen and frosty when I got it. There are a good amount of durian chunks inside so if you like durian I think you would love this place. The top part of the cake has more cream cheese and the top layer is nicely baked. It comes with chocolate drizzle as well. In terms of the atmosphere I would say it is 1/5. Would be nice if it was decorated a little more. Otherwise I think in terms of the amount of durian that they add to their cakes it is worth a try. read more
