I met a friend who also lives in the area that wanted Italian for dinner. He wanted to go somewhere in Admiral Junction, which I'm glad he suggested, because it's a nice venue change from the Alaska Junction. After carefully reviewing all of the Yelp pages for other Italian restaurants on Yelp (because I'm a foodie!) I suggested we meet at Mioposto instead of Angelina's. I read the reviews about the noise, and I was expecting it and did not bother me that much when I went in there and it was VERY noisy. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a hostess who said the wait would be 20 minutes or so. Anyone that knows me knows that while I am very accommodating and nice to Bar and Restaurant staff, one thing I do not think is fun or cool is wait for a table when there are a gazillion restaurants with no wait. (I used to live in SF, so I'm a little spoiled that way). I did see that there were a couple 4-top tables that had been cleared, but not wiped down or set. Being a happy hour expert, I am the best at scoping out and grabbing seats as soon as they become available, often by hovering by the bar near the seats or table I see will be emptied soon. I saw there were two patrons by at the bar who had paid their check. I led my friend over there to take the seat when it became available. The hostess came over and said, I am going to seat this couple first who have been waiting, we should have a table ready for you shortly. I said, fine, and continued to hover. The hostess led the couple to a different set of seats at the bar, which is not technically a bar but bar-like seating around the kitchen and wood burning stove. Once the spot I was waiting for cleared, I immediately sat down and so did my friend. A very nice waitress immediately came over and took away the dirty dishes and check. A busser came by with water and cutlery. So far, so good. It was SUPER loud as I expected, and we both had to speak pretty loudly to hear one another. I ordered a gin cocktail and my friend ordered the anti-pasti plate, eggplant, and a glass of white wine. Everything came out pretty quickly. and the portions were good. I agree with the other reviewers that the marinara sauce is a little watery and the flavors could have been developed further. (Such as simmering it longer). The anti-pasti plate was yummy, I really enjoyed the Agrodolce, the goat cheese, and the fresh foccacia roll that came with it. I had my cocktail and mulled over what to order. Since the anti-pasti was so large, and the eggplant dish was veggie, I decided on the meatballs. After we got all of our food I ordered a glass of the house red. My friend's eggplant came with caesar instead of the arugula he asked for when given the option. Things started to go downhill after that. Our waitress disappeared, and we saw that the busser was the only person running the room - clearing tables, bringing out dishes. There was one other fellow who bought one of our dishes to us but it could very well have been the bartender. Anyhow, our dirty dishes piled up, I saw a couple who was seated with their drinks also at the bar whose order was not taken, so they attempted to order from the kitchen staff who were preparing food right in front of them. I saw the hostess tell everyone that walked in that the wait was 15-20 minutes, even a couple who grabbed two open spots at the bar right after they were asked to wait for a table. I saw people pile up at the entrance. There were not benches outside and they had to wait in what little space there was or out on the sidewalk. I started to feel be so impressed and decided to leave after the second glass of wine and suggested to my friend that we leave. I piled up all the plates and asked for a check as the busser ran by. He agreed and then I finally saw our waitress, who was walking out from the back, then looked as if she forgot something, then came over with the bill, apologizing profusely. I was very gracious and let her know it happens, and asked when they opened. A little over a month, she responded. My suggestions for Mioposto's Owner(s): Have your Hostess do more than just seat tables - she can bring out tabs, clear tables, bring water, etc so the busser is not so busy. Let your bar area be self-seating, so that it does not cause confusion for the diners. Install benches and perhaps an awning outside to protect customers for the rain. You need more than one server for your small but crowded restaurant to cover breaks and make sure your guests receive good service through the entire meal. Do something about the noise, it is a little over the top. Overall, my opinion is that an investment of more staff the restaurant would be able to turn over and bus tables faster, so that it is more successful. Even having a manager onsite would help things run more smoothly. I sensed that there was no one in charge. And every restaurant needs to have someone that focused on the overall picture. read more

I stopped at Mio Posto in West Seattle to get a pizza where I could eat a quick slice and then take the rest home. It had been a long day and I needed a bite to eat. That didn't work out so well. :( I read the menu and ordered my pizza which arrived pretty quickly. Yay! I pick up a slice and immediately realized with incredible disappointment that I had a very soggy pizza crust in front of me. I took a bite anyway and liked the flavor but the crust was so disgusting I put the piece back onto the serving pan with just the tip bitten off. When the very nice woman asked about the pizza I told her about my concerns. She was super apologetic and nice and offered to ask Management if a concession could be made. I told her not to worry about it. That I'd just fix it at home on cast iron and asked for my bill. She gave that to me (which now that I think about it may have had a slight discount) and I was ready to go and still happy. BUT THEN the guy that was officially taking care of me makes a half hearted attempt at an apology followed by explaining how it was MY FAULT! Apparently, I should have ordered my pizza WELL DONE!! What? Are you kidding me??? It's not a steak!! Sorry Mio Posto. I've been there twice before and this is STRIKE THREE. You definitely aren't "my place". Thankfully, there is plenty of decent pizza within blocks of you. Nobody needs to put up with poor quality food and a culture where you blame the customer for your mistakes. If you would have had espresso, you would have rated it 5 stars..! We came during happy hours a Saturday at 5pm, where the only available seats where at the bar around the kitchen. Nice. We had a few small dishes; - Small Cesar Salat - GREAT! Fresh, Caesar dressing was very good, on the lighter side. The small portion was nicely sized. - Happy Hour pizza; smaller portion pizza; tried both margarita and pepperoni; both great! All pizza are baked in the wood fired oven; thin crust. Very good. Not greasy. Great smaller size. - Dessert; as we stayed on the lighter side for main meals, we decided to try 2 desserts; - Tiramisu -- cake type tiramisu; not very moist or wet. It was fine, not worth the calories. Despite it is supposedly made using espresso :), no espresso was available to join it. Maybe made off site. (Waiter offered French press coffee as only alternative). Corstata Apple -- likely a million calories and very tasty. Vanilla ice cream was also great. UPDATE -- April 2016 Ordered a to go small pepperoni pizza; $10. Fantastic taste. Juicy, real tomato taste and great pepperoni & cheese. I have known Jeremy since he started the first Mio Posto in my neighborhood in Mt. Baker. It was always warm and welcoming with very excellent service and delicious food and cocktails. It was my neighborhood go-to! I came to this West Seattle version of the restaurant today and I'm extremely disappointed. Service is very bad, slow and simply uninterested. And I have the worst under-cooked pizza and an Aperol spritz with a lemon juice and rind in it??? You don't put a lemon rind in an Aperol spritz. Orange only. I have pushed the drink away from me about 15 minutes ago. But no one has come to ask me about it. There's two women at the bar one is a waitress and one is a brunette bartender. Horrible. I got delivery, so I expected that it wouldn't be piping hot, but there is no way that the mess that got delivered to me was made within the last 24 hours. This tiny little pizza that I paid $18 for was stiff, dry and cold, not an ounce of anything relatively fresh. An arugula "salad" with a sad handful of arugula that had obviously been weighed down for an extended period of time by a inordinate amount of olive oil in a cup and a cup of grated parmesan. My other atrocity was this horrible Coppa e Prosciutto sandwich that was equally as sad as everything else I had the displeasure of trying to eat. It was made with some weird, store-bought, stale flat bread, a struggle amount of prosciutto, arugula, cheese and a random runny egg! I hate hate hate runny eggs, I had to go back to the menu to see if it was one of the listed ingredients.... it wasn't. Still not sure what the egg was all about. After going to Mioposto in Mt. Baker, we gave the Alki location a try (it was closer to where we were staying anyways). It was also a good option, although the Mt. Baker location is in a way better setting. This one was at least not in the busy downtown Alki area, so parking was easier than we expected (but still took a bit of searching). We ordered similar items as what we had at the Mt. Baker location (I got the beet salad, margarita pizza but I added mushrooms this time, and WA red blend; my husband got the caesar, pepperoni pizza with prosciutto on the side, but tried a medium colored nitro beer). The food was relatively consistent; something about the beet salad at the Mt. Baker location was better (I think the almonds were more finely ground and there were more beets). We also had to get normal size pizzas since we missed the timeframe for the salad/pizza special, and those were nice. I forgot to order extra crispy, so I highly recommend doing that (makes it well done all the way through - definitely way better!). The basil on my pizza was not shredded like at the other location, totally minor, but I wasn't as big of a fan of that. Also, the mushroom topping is called a "mushroom trio," and it was actually just one kind of mushroom (crimini). Again nothing super big, but just a little confusing as "trio" means "three." My husband loved the nitro beer and said it was super smooth (I apologize for not remembering the exact name, but it was a medium brown and not hoppy at all). The service wasn't as great as Mt. Baker. It might have been the time we were there (late 3's/early 4's). Our waitress was busy doing other things (appeared to be prepping for the dinner crowds), so there were long periods of waiting. We didn't mind since we were just relaxing. Eventually another waiter took over. Not the same attentiveness as the other location, but still not bad. At the end of the day, the food was still great. If I had the opportunity to choose between the different locations, I think it's obvious what my pick is (Mt. Baker), but again, this location isn't bad. read more

Good pizza, poor service. I went to Mioposto with my family last week and my order was screwed up in multiple ways. I ordered a margherita from the happy hour menu, but instead received a full-size margherita. I asked the server about this, and she said, "Oh, I wondered about that." As in, whether we wanted the happy hour or regular size -- but she didn't ask us. I said it was fine and we'd eat it, but I would've appreciated an offer to adjust the price. I also ordered a pepperoni pizza off the happy hour menu and it didn't arrive with our other two pizzas. I asked the server about it, and she said it's coming up. 15 minutes later, the pizza arrived, piping hot and seeming suspiciously like it had just been ordered. The server offered no explanation and seemed immune to the frustration of my son, who was hungry and got his very simple order last. This one should have been comped completely. Even though we enjoyed the pizza, we felt like the server (or perhaps the entire establishment) needs some serious training in customer service. When we're paying a total $63 for pizza, we absolutely expect more. read more

This place is PACKED on Friday nights! My husband and I came to meet a friend and got there a bit early, and it was a good thing we did. It took maybe 15 minutes to get seated, but after we got our seats the real rush began and the line was out the door. Being a small place, the only table available was right by the door. It was a little annoying because we felt in the way of everyone, but it was worth it. We got the antipasto plate which was huge and delicious. Anything with olives and goat cheese is a win for me! We all got our own entrees; I had the four cheese pizza which had a touch of lemon zest - AMAZING touch. I love lemon and hadn't thought of it on pizza but man it was good. I had the Ceci and also Bread with Olive Oil appetizers, both were really delicious. I didn't know what to expect with the Ceci, but was shocked at how good they were and an interesting texture. The bread was fresh and warm. I also enjoyed the Pepperoni pizza. I wish it had just a little more mozzarella, as a couple pieces didn't have any on them. But overall the flavor was good and it was cooked perfectly. The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere is really cute. The prices are higher than I think they should be. read more

Nice little spot and comfortable. The appetizers and food were very good, me and my girl demolished are food. Not sure if it was amazing or just that hungry. Followed other people recommendations and got the Pinnocchio and was awesome. Good service, the waiter was a bit awkward but I think thats just his personality which I have no problem with he was very kind and quick with service. Only got 4 stars because their drinks were not very good, Moscow's weren't made right and sent back their speciality drink. My husband and I first came here almost a year ago and we both really enjoyed our pizzas. I ordered the clam pizza and he ordered the pepperoni with honey and their chilli oil, he talks highly about this combination haha. Anyway, we recently celebrated his birthday here because he wanted to keep it simple and get his pizza. The staff was awesome when I coordinated the reservation as it was a surprise brunch. First time ordered the Zucca. It was delicious, fantastic. Second time ordered the Zucca, again. It was terrible. We were really disappointed. Crust was extremely thin in the middle and the toppings were piled and centered more toward the middle, so the pizza was extremely soggy. The center of the pizza was inedible. We did bring it to the attention of the server who pretty much had no comment. Decided to try Mioposto one more time. We did the Pinocchio this time. It was terrible. Again, the toppings were piled at the center of the pizza, the pizza was extremely thin at the center, it was soggy again inedible. This time I scraped away the toppings at the center of the pizza to see what the crust looked like, and it literally looked like a piece of skin. It was like pizza toppings on wet skin. Once again we brought it to the attention of the server, and we urged him to bring this to the attention of management. Piling ingredients that have high moisture content at the center of a pizza crust that is extremely thin creates a very wet and unappetizing pizza. The Caesar salad was good, the apple crostini was good, the tiramisu was okay. This is at the Admiral location within the past eight weeks. We won't be back. read more

We went to Mioposto in a Sunday afternoon for brunch. I had never been before. We ordered Bloody Mary's which were absolutely delicious they had a thicker consistency with the perfect amount of horseradish. I ordered the Baker which came with their fantastic homemade bread. My partner ordered the breakfast Stromboli which was also really good. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that we came right when the Vikings (and Seahawks) games had just finished and they were in a bit of a rush. The service was nice but lagging a bit. After trying all the West Seattle pizza spots, this is THE BEST pizza around. Not to mention the ambiance pairs well with the menu--rustic, modern, and clean. We've tried every single pizza on the menu but our favorites remain the Zucca Balsamica and the Spring Lamb. You can also make your own from a long list of ingredients provided. The pizza is not the cheapest around, but it's a great value and you'll have trouble eating pizza anywhere else afterward. The other items on the menu are great but if this is your first time, definitely order a pizza--and do not order it gluten-free--it's just not the same and does not do the place justice. One thing worth mentioning is that there are some individual tables, but if you are a group of two it is likely you will need to sit at the communal spaces when busier. It's definitely not as crammed as Serious Pie in that sense, but worth noting in case that's a big deal. Service is great. We met the GM, Bobbi, the morning before the restaurant opened and she has remembered our names ever since. read more
