From the start to the end the service was excellent. Attended Thursday lunchtime and the restaurant had a few people but not busy. I am told it gets very busy Friday and Saturday evenings as you would expect. But I like a quiet atmosphere for lunch to be honest and would be a great place for a quiet business meeting. Food arrived promptly and all the dishes sampled were tasty and authentic without too much spice but still remaining tasty and not bland. Portions were also good. I would definitely attend again. There is also large private dining area and a bar so would also work for corporate events. Worked out around £40 per head but would budget for £50-£60 if you are planning a few drinks. read more

Be careful! The prices on the menu outside were not the prices offered after taking the elevator down to that pretentious dungeon they call a restaurant. Of course, they let you in on the bad news after you realize that you're in an embarrassing situation with an awkward elevator ride with your guests back to the street. I've been to Mint Leaf quite a few times. I love their cocktails (espresso martini is the forward after a long day at work!) and the food is absolutely amazing. I like the idea that their food is sort of modern Indian food, not too spicy for my taste. I went there with my friends and couple of times took my clients out for lunch. Everything was brilliant. And I am really surprised some comments are saying that members of staff were rude, cos I find it the other way around- they were very sweet and nice. I will go there again soon and would recommend to everyone. read more

This was a very nice bar for a quality drink in nice surroundings. It wasnt too busy midweek and there was an excellent range of cocktails at prices which were reasonable given the area. Lots of comfortable seating and some quieter areas where small groups could also sit. I really liked the vibe of the place which was actually rather classy. A nice central location too just a stones throw from Charing Cross railway station. didnt try the food but from what I saw and from what I heard other diners say, the food was very nice. I wish I could give a better review. I had been looking forward to this dinner for a long time. I'm from Denmark and came here for my 40th birthday and had dinner with a friend. We had reservations on a monday evening, after the Phantom of the Opera. The restaurant was almost empty. The food was fine, so the reason for the 2 stars is as following: After we were seated, our waiter gave us 5 different menus: A la carte, theatre menu, coctails, happy hour and winelist. Even though I had looked at the menu online, we needed a little time to decide. None of us are familiar with Indian food and english is not our first language. The waiter gave us 5 min. to look through it all. Then he came back and stayed by our table, till we had decided. He seemed VERY impatient and we felt rushed into ordering food left and right, with no real idea of what we were ordering. Same thing happend with the dessert and cocktails. My friend especially had a hard time ordering her food, because the waiter didn't take the time to listen to her. When ever she opened up her mouth to speak, he cut her off and tried to guess what she was saying. Most of the times he was wrong and if we didn't constantly correct him, he would have gotten our food and drinks all wrong. All because he was in a hurry. We both felt quite uncomfortable with the situation. We almost felt, like us being there was in inconvenience. I'm sorry to say, we should have gone some where else. This had to be the worst restaurant I have ever been to the reason its do dark is that they don't want you to see them ripping you of with amateur food and service. The food was no better than aldi microwave meal. The service awful my daughter got served a cocktail when she asked for an apple juice shes 11 years old when we told the easier no apology or remorse shown. This place was recommended by a friend (well more of a friend of a friend... but one of those people that thinks they know the "it" spots all over town)... so needless to say, my family and I visited Mint Leaf in Haymarket with high expectations. While the ambiance was gorgeous - modern and unlike any Indian restaurant I'd been to before - none of us was a fan of the food, which cost a pretty penny. Service was also mediocre. On a suggestion from my little sister's London mate, my wife and I went to Mint Leaf while in town from San Francisco. It's safe to say we had pretty high expectations coming into this place, and I can't say that Mint Leaf really lived up to them. But let's start from the beginning The lounge is cool, and the service was great. We both enjoyed nibbling on the smoked almonds while enjoying our drinks. My wife got a strawberry-martini-type-thing, which she said was, delicious. I started with a mint julep because I was feeling particularly Kentucky Derby-ish. Mint Julep was OK I get the feeling that it isn't ordered all that often, since the bartender himself came over and asked me how it was. I lied and said it was great. I didn't want to hurt the dude's feelings. It was decent, though. Next, my wife got a raspberry cocktail-thingy that she said was, Alright, I don't know. I got the cucumber/wasabi martini that I thought was pretty tasty. If you like cucumber and can handle a little wasabi, I'd recommend this drink. Would have been perfect if garnished with some sashimi. Drinks were good, but pricey. £13=Almost $20, but as we would come to see, London really bends you over if you like to drink (drink well). On to the food. We were really excited to try some good Indian food over here. We ordered the Chicken Tikka, grilled prawns, stuffed bell peppers, rice, naan, some grilled white fish, and a bottle of good Austrian wine. The wine ended up to be better than the food. Mint Leaf takes a sort of California approach to its dishes, taking traditional flavors and sort of giving them a modern update. We could have used a little more traditional flavor. Or any flavor, really. Mint Leaf really needs to spice things up a bit. I don't mean in heat, just pretty much all the way around. Mint Leaf gets 5 stars for atmosphere and decor, 4 stars for wine and cocktails, and 2 for food. I would suggest eating here if you have a friend who likes to spend a lot of money, but doesn't want the band for their buck. Someone who wants decent food, but doesn't want it flavored too much. Said friend will love Mint Leaf. All said and done, we had fun, but paid too much for it. I might go back for a bottle of the Austrian gurvertzaminer (approx. spelling). read more

At least when you goto MC Ds you know what you are getting this place is one to avoid big time we went last night so the rage is pretty fresh its July 2010 . We had a party of 7 my daughter 11 years old ordered an apple juice she got a vodka based cocktail after we had chased her order for at least half an hour. took another 15mins for her apple juice to arrive. We ordered two of the same dishes one chicken dish arrived we chased another for half an hour before it finally showed up by that time we had nearly finished. I even asked the waiter if I should draw pretty pictures for him so he could get the order right. He even took away the credit card without asking if he could in these days of fraud. ordered a bottle of water took ages and we ended up drinking it on the way out. Now thats the service here comes the food review The chicken dishes were ultra bland great if you arent allowed to eat anything fresh or flavoursome had to peel fat off and dry as if they had been cooked a year before. The lamb dish was at best bland at worst the worst thing I have ever eaten. bland, Chewy and fat festooned. The naan bread was dry and burnt . The chicken rice dish was awful dry and bland . the kids made the mistake of asking for puddings dry sodden chocolate tart and gulab jammun covered in has been creme brulee. On complaining we got an apology thats it so as I said to them wait till you read the reviews . awfull service was followed by ultra bland food not fit for human consumption and for a £214 bill super market pre cook pack food has better texture and flavours so save the money stay at home. We all felt a total waste of an evening I read reviews where the food is meant to be great obviously written by people not used to eating Indian food this is pretentious food nothing more once you remove flavour our chicken became dry chicken with green stuff thrown on it the only thing Indian about this food was the miss use of the word indian read more
