This is an incredibly good restaurant in a central location, they have a very nice interior with very helpful and professional wait staff. We were a huge group (around 20) that came around 6pm on a Tuesday. The rest of the restaurant seemed quite busy outside of our huge group. We opted for the set menu, and they brought nearly 20 small bites - come hungryyyyyy! The favorites were the Szechuan chicken and shrimp as well as a delicious kale (or spinach dish) appetizer. The cooked salmon with curry was also delicious if you've been smart enough to leave room. seems like a great place to go with groups and share a bunch of dishes, there's something for everyone. A quick walk-in to feed our hungry son was kindly acknowledged by their kind host, who got us a table, as long as we wrapped up dinner within 45 minutes. We took that kind offer and got straight to ordering, as we were seated on a table for three at this tiny, yet cozy Indo-Chinese restaurant. We stuck to their staff recommendation and ordered the Crackling Spinach (£10.20), Chicken Momo (£7.50), Bombay Chilly Prawns (£14.50), and an ultra delicious Vegetable Hakka Noodles (£10) - which absolutely reminded us of the classic Hakka Noodles we get back home in Mumbai. The next best dish was the Crackling Spinach - an absolutely brilliant and refreshing chaat! Service overall was excellent, and noise levels were on the average end. It's a sharing style, so we had several options to choose from. We had the chicken lollipops, the duck, the Szechuan beef noodles, and the chili prawns. They were all 10/10. If you don't like spice, ask your server what to recommend - these were the perfect light spice without overpowering anything. The prawns and duck had a sticky sweet thing going on that we loved, where as the chicken, noodles and momo had a nice and small kick of spice. The drinks were also fantastic! Some of the best I've had, PERIOD! Great locations available, but we went to the one in Covent Garden, which is always popping: you may not NEED a reservation, but I'd recommend getting one if you're coming on a weekend night, just in case! Sat on their one table outside so service was pretty sub par. That being said food was excellent and came out quickly. Got their noodles, bing bread, tamarind glaze potatoes and crackling spinach. The stand out was the crackling spinach which was crispy and soothing at the same time with the yogurt. Bing bread was flaky and buttery, but felt a bit heavy halfway in. Potatoes were crisp but needed more flavor, felt lacking and could do with some spice. Finally noodles were good, bold and packed a punch! Overall good indo Chinese food! This is a review of their Maiden Ln location. Very popular place so make sure you try to reserve in advance. We got the crackling spinach, lamb chops, popcorn cauliflower, and the Malabar curry monkfish. The spinach and the cauliflower were great apps, but I think the most impressive was the monkfish and the lamb chops. Monkfish definitely tasted like poor man's lobster and the lamb chops were very nicely spiced and tender. Heed the warning when they say plan 2-3 dishes per person because the portions are like tapas size. read more

Meh! The food is over seasoned and pretty oily. We got super excited to come here for lunch while walking around in the neighborhood after an afternoon of shopping. We ate well on our trip to France and the UK. However, one of our favorite meals was at @fattpundit in Soho, London. The restaurant reflects the Indo-Chinese influences seen in Kolkata (Calcutta) after Hakka immigrants from Canton moved there in the 1930s-40s. I'm glad I made reservations a month before because the restaurant was packed and prospective diners were turned away. Our host Merwin soon seated us and gave us recommendations on what to order. We started with their Crackling Spinach with crunchy spinach topped with a sweet yogurt, date & plum sauce and pomegranates. And then we sampled their chicken & beef momos (dumplings), Bing Bread, Kolkata chilli duck, bing bread, Hakka vegetable noodles, and sticky sesame vegetables. Every dish was delicious. I'm getting excited just writing this. Fatt Pundit is Indian-Chinese fusion, and we luckily walked in and got a table right before the 8pm dinner rush. Everything was so so good, and the 5 chutneys/sauces they served with the food made it instantly better. The chicken lollipops were DELICIOUS, and my friends favorite item was the chicken momos. The food was good but the rest of the environment is kind of a let down. To start, you are greeting bya cheesy sleazy looking man who is overbearing and not genuine. He looks like a cross between a d-list nightclub promoter and used car salesman. He sits with his ridiculous hair at the edge of the counter all night working on bills invoices and whatnot. It's very off-putting. This restaurant was not busy at all for prime time dinner service. We were 1 of about 5 tables in there with no one at the counter. Most of the staff were standing around or begrudingly cleaning just waiting the minutes to go home. No one really seemed all that happy. They seem to have lots of seating on two floors, I would however recommend booking reservations in case you want to ensure you get to try it out if you're not from the area! The food options at this restaurant are well ranged. The service was perfect and staff is super attentive! They make sure to ask if you're comfortable with seating and offer some important info about the food after you sit down. We tried the mixed vegetable momo, crackling spinach, beef Stir fry szechuan noodles, manchurian chicken, sizzling brownie. Mixed Vegetable Momo: I have to say the momos were my least favorite out from everything we tried. They were tasty enough but I ultimately felt they lacked a little more flavor. I feel that perhaps the beef or chicken momos would have been more flavorful. Crackling Spinach: They were super crunchy and the sauce and pomegranates on top made for deliciously balanced/well rounded vegetable dish! One of our favorites. Beef Stir Fry Szechuan noodles: Great flavor for a staple dish! Manchurian chicken: I believe this is the one that had a bit of a kick! It was so delicious and paired perfectly with the szechuan noodles! Sizzling brownie: A decadent dessert that comes out piping (sizzling) hot! Fatt Pundit is a Soho gem that I wish I could eat at every month. Indo-Chinese food is often hard to find outside of India, so this restaurant's take on Indo-Chinese classics was something we valued highly. Located near Carnaby Street, the restaurant seems small but is divided between an upstairs and downstairs space. We were seated in the downstairs space where decor was minimal but tasteful. Service was consistent and our waiter was easily accessible. We started with the saffron chai as it was colder than expected outside. The chai is served in a little clay cup and was very tasty! The saffron flavor came through distinctly and the tea was the right level of thickness and sweetness. For starters we ordered the hakka chilli paneer lettuce cups, the fried salt and pepper bhindi/okra, and the lollypop chicken. These dishes were the standouts of the meal; the chicken and okra were super crispy and crunchy without sacrificing any softness on the inside. The chicken was juicy and comparable with the best lollypops I've had in India. The okra was my favorite dish of all and was highly addictive; they must use rice flour or tapioca starch for the breading because it was so distinctively crispy and tasty. The paneer was also fresh and had an ideal consistency, contrasting well with the shallots and sweet sauce with every bite. We also got the chicken momos which were some of the best momos I've ever had; the filling was juicy and tasty while the coating was not overly chewy. For mains, we ordered the shredded venison with housemade bao, the veg hakka noodles, the chicken manchurian, and the egg fried rice. The venison was good but quite chewy, which is to be expected with this kind of meat. The hakka noodles and fried rice were excellent; both went well with the chicken manchurian. Note that the chicken manchurian is a wet dish, served with a gravy/sauce, so don't expect a dry/crispy chicken as you might elsewhere. All in all, the experience at Fatt Pundit was ideal and I look forward to my next visit! read more

First night in London, we were told we must try this restaurant. It did not disappoint. The service was really great as with the food. Raj and Geet was very attentive. Glad we decided to venture to this little place. My favorite was the Crispy Okra Salt n Pepper. It was seasoned so well. The lamb chops were delicious and very tender. I loved how they bring the dessert (vegan sizzling brownie with Madagascan vanilla ice cream) to the table and prepare in front of you. Great presentation and unfortunately I cannot attached video. Made reservations to go here. Got here early but was not seated and was told we had to back at our reservation time even though the restaurant had availability. This place is close to Covenant garden so you can walk around to kill time. Restaurant is small, and felt like we were all squeezed in. It's two levels, top had tables and bar, downstairs has kitchen, tables and restrooms. We were seated downstairs and it was full. Service started off great. We placed orders for drinks and food. They cater for allergies which is always a plus. We ordered the chicken and veggie momos which were cold like they had been sitting out for a while. Rabbit wontons were spicy but tasty. Lamb was a hit, it was juicy and flavorful. Hakka noodles were yum reminded me of a place in Singapore that made those street type noodles. Monk fish had a funky flavor and had an after taste which was difficult to point out what it was. Bread was decent. Place is cute with its Deco etc. Sitting downstairs, poor ventilation your clothes do smell of food. Place did get busy and service got slow. Came here during our visit to London after seeing some Instagram posts. I couldn't find a reservation on their website so I emailed and they were able to find a spot for 2 for 5:30. When we got there, they couldn't find the reservation, but quickly made us a spot! The ambiance was super cute inside -- definitely a good date spot. Downstairs area seemed to be good for larger groups. There were 3 main stars of the night!! The momos were amazing and both sauces that came with it were super flavorful The crackled spinach was by far the best thing of the night. The yogurt and sauces complimented each other so well! The sticky vegetables had a good amount of heat, but not overwhelming and the texture was great I would skip the tamarind potatoes and chili paneer next time. It wasn't bad, but just better things on the menu. Overall, super glad we were able to make it to Fat Punditt on such short notice. read more

Soho is no stranger to fusion cuisine and hyped-up restaurants that may or may not be worth the effort to snag a seat. Weeks after the experience, I'm still questioning if it's worth going back. Technically, yes, the food should be the most important star of the show; however, the rest of the annoyances along the way can turn into a real deal-breaker. Cocktails are 'meh.' I wouldn't pay that much for such a half-hearted attempt more than once. The plates, while chock-full of flavor and creativity spicing up traditional Indian favorites, are not only on the pricey side, but the tables they expect you to eat them on can barely hold more than a few. Regardless of where you sit, the spaces are cramped, and since you're probably not going to be coming alone, sharing your plates will be a must. Fan favorites include: Soy-marinated veggies, fried chicken, popcorn cauliflower, and deep-fried king prawns. The sides like the garlic naan and rice dishes are almost good enough to steal the show, so save some room for a few of those. Prices can get pretty steep since you're not likely to stick to only one or two plates, but if you're sharing, it can soften the blow considerably. One last thing to mention is that this place doesn't seem to be singles-friendly. I tried reserving a spot for weeks for one person with no luck, but as soon as I convinced my friend to come with me, there magically seemed to be room enough for 2 people. Perhaps giving a table away to lonely people doesn't rack in as much dough. read more

I am in London for work and went out late to get a bite. I was instantly attracted by the clean, modern yet cosy feel of this restaurant. Met with a welcoming smile, although the kitchen was closing, they did not turn me away. I was assisted with grace and charm to pick from a menu I knew nothing about. I was recommended monk fish, crispy spinach, rice and told it would be memorable and they were right. The flavours were a symphony of sensory discoveries and all the staff was friendly and kind. I even received a complimentary dish of dumplings as I explained it was my first time eating Indo Chinese food. The crescendo finished with a milk, chai tea with saffron and fried dumplings in sugar syrup. Very happy with this discovery and highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Got delivery a few weeks back from their covent garden location. Lot of kinda unique twists on indo-chinese flavors. Bold ask that they execute really well and would strongly recommend and would definitely come back. I debated a lot over the menu because it was such an interesting menu with things like a szechuan honey duck, shredded chili venison, etc. I got the shredded chili venison and some egg fried rice. Both were incredible. The venison was cooked perfectly and despite the spicy flavor you also got a good amount of the gaminess of the venison itself. It didn't seem like a lot of food at first but was super filling and then with the fried rice to boot it made for an excellent meal. The fried rice didn't have a ton of egg but was full of other flavors that balanced well. The only thing I would say is that the momo was really quite bland so I would not recommend getting the momo again. It's not like we really needed the momo on top of the entrees but just stick with the entrees! read more

I had heard so much about this place before coming to London but was unable to find a table. We decided to walk in and found a table right away. The restaurant is tiny and tables were very close to each other. We ordered margaritas and the okra, noodles and paneer lettuce wraps. The margaritas were one of the best I ever had and the food was delicious. They are very busy so you got to get your order in at one time. I rated it 4 stars because we had to flag our server multiple times and he missed the okra in our order the first time and we had to wait 20 mins for it. Recently visited London and the hubby and I came here for a pre-show dinner. The space is on the smaller side, and seating felt a bit tight, but the food and service make up for that. We started off with the sticky sesame vegetables. Our server said it went well with rice, so we ordered a side of that as well. The vegetables came first...I swear I just wanted a small taste before the rice came, but half the dish was gone by the time the grain arrived... and not because the rice was slow to hit the table, but because it was just THAT damn good. My next dish was the monkfish curry. So delicious! The fish was cooked beautifully and the flavor was spot-on. I polished everything off with the Lady Kenny for dessert. I had never heard of this dish before, but it sounded interesting, and I had been impressed with its predecessors thus far, so I thought I'd give it a go. When I tried it, I realized that it's very similar to gulab jamun, but this was quite nicer than the gulab jamun I've had in the past. Our server, Lucito, was perfect. He was attentive without hovering, and when we told him we needed the check as we were trying to make it to a show, he made sure we got our bill in a timely manner. Fatt Pundit describes themselves as Indo Chinese cuisine that offers "something both new yet familiar" and I think this perfectly sums up my dining experience. I'll end this by saying that my husband and me took a 14-day adventure through London, the Cotswolds, and Paris, and Fatt Pundit was the best place we ate at. read more

We did not have reservations and wandered in on an early Friday evening and the hostess immediately accommodated us with 2 seats at the bar. We were not disappointed. We tried the ribeye (wonderful), soft shell crab (not my fav), sesame vegetables (my favorite - highly recommend), chicken mojo dumplings (delicious) and the lollipop chicken (very different and worth trying.).
