I don't necessarily feel like going into a ton of detail on each dish as there were a few not even misses but dishes that didn't stand up to the absolute perfection of the dishes I'll be describing. I'll list the items that blew my mind. Raj Kachori: an actual sensual experience, it was the first time I had a cool, sweet, refreshing, and light spice bite. It was like a sexy and spicy spring breeze in my mouth. Fucking sensational. Tandoori Chicken and Lamb: melts in your mouth, both the meat texture and seasoning swirling around. It's like a bath bomb of flavor. Butter Chicken curry: the best curry I've ever had in my life. The same tenderness and elite quality of the chicken they cook combined with literally the most fucking beautiful, coconut milk focused and creamy and orgasmic butter chicken curry. The food was 5+. I had the lamb shank. It was enough for 2 considering that I also ordered some rice and Naan to complement the meal. The shank meat had been finely sliced off the bone so there was no worry about doing that in public. The lamb is spicy but not overly hot. Nevertheless, if you don't like spicy, don't order this. The Chicken Biryani was also delicious and 1 hungry person could eat it for a meal, w/o leftovers. For pre-dinner drinks we each had a Pomegranate Margarita. This drink is not huge unlike most Margaritas stateside. It's more martini sized, but just as potent and tastier than a big size portion. Beware. Don't let the size fool you. We did not have reservations but we were there early, about 5-ish. Our server told us in advance that we had max of 2 hours to eat became tables were all reserved starting at 7PM. Went for a last meal in London and had a nice time. Started with an English spritzer that was light and fruity- delicious! My colleague had trouble ordering just a martini, not sure if the staff didn't hear well enough or if it's not something that's ordered there often. Food came out relatively quick. We had a bunch of starters which were the best part of our meal- chaat, grilled chicken(my favorite), lamb samosas(very unexpected but enjoyed the taste), and another dish that looked like rice crackers with other stuff. I'm so glad that we found this place as I as able to scratch the craving itch. India was once a UK colony, I genuinely believe it was it for this restaurant to exist. As you can tell by looking slightly to the left, I'm a man of indian persuasion - and let me tell you this may be the best indian meal I've ever had. Oh my lord, first off: the drinks are spectacular especially if you like spicy ones like the Kashmiri Chilli Bourbon or Pink Peppercorn Margarita. Food-wise the star of the show was the Old Delhi Butter Chicken, it's a common dish but nothing has quite nailed this level of spices with a surprising sweet tang. The Kadai Paneer was also excellent along with the Kaali Daal - a healthy lentil dish. Don't feel sorry for yourself for missing out on this culinary experience and come to the restaurant led by the chef who created the world's first Michelin Star Indian restaurant, it's truly a lifetime experience. read more

The food was excellent and exceeds my expectations every time. This was our 3rd visit to Tamarind Kitchen and it did not disappoint. We ordered based on our waitresses recommendations were and we loved every dish. Chicken Tikka, Butter Chicken, fish, naan and potatoes were excellent. We ordered a second fish because it was so good and shared all the plates. The wine and cocktails were excellent, drinks were very well balanced and not too sweet. Love this place. May I strongly suggest you get the slow cooked lamb shank?! It just falls off the bone and so tender. You will not regret it. Also the lettuce with avocado and mango- delicious. I made a reservation for 4 on Christmas Day. We saw that they had a Christmas menu and a regular menu. We decided to order 3 entres, 4 drinks, and a couple naan to share. 10 minutes later they came back and told us that we were supposed to spend at least $75/person like in their Christmas menu. Nowhere on their regular menu did it say this, and we were not aware of this prior to the reservation. Terrible communication, terrible service, and looking around the restaurant we noticed others were definitely not spending $75/person. We came here with a reservation on a Sunday night, though there wasn't really any need to do so, as the restaurant was mostly empty. Love the atmosphere, which is upscale but inviting and cozy. We ordered the papdi chaat, mango & avocado salad, chicken biryani, and lamb shank, plus sides of naan and brown rice. This was more than enough for two people! The salad was super refreshing, and the chicken biryani was so flavorful, with a pie-crust top that was perfect to dip into their complimentary chutneys (highly recommend the aubergine). If I were hungrier, I'd have gone with the pre-set menu, as many of the dishes we ordered were on there. For drinks, I'm not a huge alcohol fan, so I got their lassi, which was a FABULOUS choice. So thick, creamy, and was the perfect compliment to the slightly spicy biryani. I knocked off one star because we asked for water and they gave us bottled water, and subsequently charged for it. I hate when restaurants do this, when tap water would have been fine but we weren't given the option. The food was so good though that I'd come back regardless lol. read more

High heat and creative Indian dishes in Soho London. The pav bahdi and papdi chaat were flavorful (tamarinds renditions of street foods) and an added surprise of yogurt and pomegranate seeds. We also got the mixed platter with wild prawn (perfection), lamb seekh kabob (a little over cooked), chicken tikka (tender and flavorful). The chicken kevala was a creamy rich curry that had the perfect balance of heat and cool. Finally, the yellow dal was authentic, smooth, almost like a creamy soup and had added mustard seed, it was one of our favorite dishes. Butter naan was ok but didn't taste fresh (a little tough). Overall a great experience in a beautifully decorated old Soho building. We got the kumquat sours (their version of a whiskey sour) made with bourbon and cardamom and it was one of the best cocktails we've ever tasted. Highly recommend! read more

Service was excellent and food delivery prompt. We ordered a number of vegetarian dishes; in my opinion the small size is generous, but we are generally small eaters. We had the papdi chaat as a starter; really very tasty and well-sized. Naan was superb. The kofte curry was ok, the paneer was outstanding. Unfortunately, we were too stuffed to sample the deserts. We started off with a few small plates that the owner helped us picked, he was great! Our waitress on the other hand, terrible. We sat for 45 minutes without even placing a drink order. She wasn't busy either, we could clearly see her goofing around with her coworker. We had to go as far as to ask the hostess to get our drinks that we saw sitting on the bar for 20 minutes. Service was professional and what I find strange about London, is that no one seems to care to serve you in many restaurants and I spent more time tracking down my server for the bill than eating the food, but I will let this slide in the case of Tamarind Kitchen due to the experience as a whole. The food was so good! We started off with the plain and garlic naan, I chose tandoori chicken and the crispy potatoes, and my coworker ordered chicken makhani.
