The Szechuan beef was excellent. The veggies were crispy and the meat tender. The general tsao was perfectly prepared--the chicken was crispy and sweet. The vegetable fried rice was exactly what I expected--vegetarians beware there are eggs in this dish. Try theTaiwan beer--it's a sweet lager. The service is fast and friendly. The prices are reasonable for the large serving sizes. read more

Mini Hot Pot By Mandarin House - Chinese Near Me - Pullman, Washington

It's Chinese food "for the masses" in Pullman -- what else are you expecting, people?!? I realize that I'm not in San Francisco and adjust my expectations accordingly. Very decent food for what it is. Fast delivery and friendly service. We stayed in the Residence Inn and had the food delivered right to our room. I'm so glad we did! read more

We found ourselves here, Graduation-eve, as most Pullman establishments were either mobbed-busy or already closed (it was 830ish) My sister recommended it, and since it was new to me (didn't exist when I went to WSU!) it was definitely a treat. Along with our parents, and significant others, we had a nice big party of 8, which they graciously accommodated after a short 10 minute wait. We ordered a literal cornucopia of entrees - enough for all tastes at the table, and boy, each was better than the last. I really enjoyed the honey shrimp, as well as the few beef dishes we had. The value was really outstanding, and after our plates were cleared, we were brought a plateful of petite chocolate cakes, which the server indicated were for 'Mother's Day.' Whooo mom! Yum-o! read more

I was visiting some college friends in Washington and we were craving Chinese food. We went to Mandarin House because it was the go-to Chinese restaurant for all the students at Washington State University. Now, I'm pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food (grown up in Asia and then little Taipei in LA). Much to my surprise, the food here was as good as the places in LA! Furthermore, the value was really good, as I think the owner is trying to keep the prices low and affordable for the students. When taken into account the value, I rate it a 5 out of 5. Without a doubt the best goddamn Chinese food in Pullman (although, that alone is not saying much since their only competition is - for the most part - overpriced mouth garbage). I was so happy to find a decent Chinese food joint in this fuck town. I had tried 5 others and was about to give up. Mandarin House to the rescue! - Good portions - Fair pricing - Good service - Delicious I can't speak to the quality of their entire menu, but I can say that their combo items are great - lemon chicken being one of my favorites; dank shit, bro. I've eaten there a number of times now and they've yet to disappoint. And they always seem very grateful for my service. Super nice people. Give them your money. read more

We were the one of two tables on a Sunday evening, which surprised us because the food was delicious and the staff so friendly. Upon asking him what he recommends, I mentioned I dislike mushrooms and love broccoli. I ordered the general tsos chicken and he had them put extra broccoli on it for me. read more

One of the better Chinese restaurants in Pullman. It's located right on Grand, at the four-way intersection off of Main. Although parking is a bit of a pain, it's worth it :) The employees are always so nice and work with a smile! We're always seated in a timely manner and are given little crispy wonton strips and sweet and sour sauce to snack on while we wait for our food. The combination dishes that they have are always the best deals; especially when all you want to eat is... everything on the menu! The prices are a steal for the amount and quality of food that you get! read more

Nice place to stop if you are wanting to eat Chinese food in the town of Pullman, which will be rare to find for a small town. But this Chinese restaurant is quite good with their food. Not fantastic but decent Chinese food . Great service. Clean place. Decent price on their lunch combo. read more

Mini Hot Pot By Mandarin House - Chicken garlic lunch combo - Chinese Near Me - Pullman, Washington

I really love mandarin house - they have great American Chinese food and they deliver which is a big plus! Not only do they deliver, they do so extremely fast! Every time I order for delivery they usually arrive within 30 minutes of placing the order - which is faster than most of the pizza places in town. The food quality is pretty good, although it's very similar to other Chinese places in town. They serve the classics like sweet & sour chicken & prawns. Can't really complain about their food, but it's not the best Chinese food I've ever had - hence only 4 stars. Otherwise, their customer service is always great and I order from them often! read more

I agree with most of the recent reviews that this place is really overrated. The reason: all the glowing reviews are from a couple years ago, so their quality has apparently suffered a recent downturn that isn't reflected in their overall rating. My guess is that they're trying to cut costs to stay in business, which has negatively affected their quality. My egg roll tasted like a tiny tube of fried cardboard and the almond chicken was little scraps of chicken in big clumps of heavy, deep-fried batter swimming in Americanized gravy. Just like most American Chinese restaurants, the sweet dipping sauce was all red food coloring and sugar. The prices were average and the service was really good, but it's hard to judge service when we were one of only two tables of customers during our lunch visit. When I asked for hot sauce, our waitress brought out a cold bottle of Sriracha right out of the fridge, even though Sriracha doesn't require refrigeration. This is the equivalent of asking for butter at an American restaurant and getting a frozen square. This is a small detail, but all the things I just noted were small details that add up to a lackluster dining experience. read more

The Mandarin House serves great Taiwanese cuisine -- if you can order off the Taiwanese menu, and you actually know what Taiwanese food is. My wife is Taiwanese, though of the generation of kids who were basically raised like caged chickens, and I've eaten likely more varieties of Taiwanese food than she has (I've been to Taiwan for a month). They have the typical American Chinese menu, but if you ask, they will give you the Taiwanese menu, and you can ask for recommendations. Most Americans have no idea how one prepares the different vegetables, and they keep a fair amount of things like Qingcai and Chiedze in stock, so you can get great Chinese eggplant, or pork ears here. But you have to know how to ask. The best thing to do before showing up is to study up a little -- then when you ask for traditional dish, they can fill you in. If it looks like the Chinese students that frequent this place are getting different food -- it's because they are. So step up -- they don't discriminate! read more

We love the crispy chicken and honey walnut shrimp. Their food is probably our 2nd favorite chinese restaurant in town. My kids love their house fried rice as well. read more

So-so on this place. Pros: ingredients tasted fresh, large portions. Cons: not very flavorful. Had the Kung Pao chicken, fried rice, egg drop soup. Everything was just very bland and significantly lacking flavor. read more

Probably one of the best places to get Chinese food in Pullman. When I first came to Pullman, there wasn't as much diversity in Asian cuisine as I thought there would be, but after walking around town one day, I stumbled upon this restaurant and I have loved it ever since. The wait staff usually only consists of one woman. Also their daughter seems to sometimes bring some food out for customers and she is so cute; probably around the age of 6? I did not expect the food to be as good as Chinese food back home but it seems pretty close. :) The portions are pretty massive so if you plan on ordering family style, be sure to have others with you! The Salt-Chicken, which I think is on the appetizer menu is a MUST try. Seriously, it tasted like the ones I ate when I was in China. ^^ Give this place a try if you want to get your Chinese fixin! read more

Good food and the portions are huge. I've had a lot of Chinese food in pullman and this is definitely my favorite. The guy who is always there running the register is awesome too! read more

BY ACCIDENT MY 2 DAUGHTERS AND I ENDED UP EATING HERE ON SAT EVENING 8-8-2019. Just an average Chinese Restaurant, nothing special well except the food. I do not like egg drop soup which came with my daughters meals. My opinion changed as soon as I gave it a try, wow what a superior soup. I ordered a cup of Won Ton soup and was even more impressed, the best I have ever had. I was hoping the entrée would be half as good but yet again was astounded by it's perfection. The shrimp was moist and melted in your mouth and every vegetable was crisp and full of flavor. If I was to be critical of anything it would be the hot tea which was weak but I wasn't there for the tea. A great dinner and job well done. Roger M read more

So bland. The fried shrimp seemed prepackaged! The Egg Fu Yung wasn't bad but I wasn't too amazed; the previous reviews seemed so good. Sweet and Sour Pork was over cooked to me. The pork fried rice had no veggies, just egg! Almond chicken was okay. Egg roles and egg flower soup were decent. The service was good and that's probably the only upside. Really sub par food. read more

It is your pretty standard Chinese food place with all the staples you expect with pretty good prices compared to others in town. They have always offered delivery and are quite fast and efficient with it. Our go to is the special family dinner and there is always plenty of leftovers to go round. read more

Clean, great food, great service. Great lunch combo. I love the fried rice and the sweet and sour pork. Best Chinese food in Pullman.

We just moved to Pullman. We were exhausted from moving & decided to get Chinese food delivered. I read online reviews of the Mandarin House & the reviews were pretty good. We ordered Almond chicken & lemon chicken. The delivery was right on time. No complaints there but the food was horrible. The almond chicken was so bland & tasteless. We did not get the lemon chicken we ordered (the food delivered was wrong. It was on time but it was wrong order.) Instead our order included sweet & sour chicken. The sauce was ok but not great. We spent $30 & even the fortune cookies were stale. Horrible introduction to Chinese food in Pullman. read more

I won't eat from here again. I looked at the reviews and expected a phenomenal experience, and I ended up being 20 dollars short, and sick to my stomach. There are MUCH better places here in Pullman to eat than Mandarin. Golden Teriyaki and Emerald Garden are 10 times better, and also cheaper. I don't know how there are so many reviews in their favor...when I asked all my coworkers about it they laughed at me for going at all. Several of them said they don't even know how the place is still opened, considering it's quite empty at all times. I won't be returning my business, and I won't refer anyone to this restaurant. You want good Chinese? Visit Golden Teriyaki. read more

This is my boyfriends and my favorite spot to go for dinner here in Pullman. The staff is always amazing and so friendly- we always feel welcome, the (delicious) food is reasonably priced for huge portions, the atmosphere is very cozy, and I even had a birthday dinner there where they made it extra special and brought me out a dessert! They're overall awesome in every way and I would totally recommend giving Mandarin House a try!! read more

SAD, Thats all i can say. This is the worst "Asian food" ive ever had, when it has 4 stars on yelp. this is a joke. First of all deep fried gravy chicken is not Asian. read more

Being from Seattle area I have high expectations of Chinese and there's really no excuse for poorly executed food that's just greasy and flavorless. The pork tasted old, the rice was bland, and the meat in the sweet and sour and almond chicken tasted very off. Just do yourself a favor and save Chinese for when you go home during winter and spring break. Most of Pullman's offerings are poor at best. read more

So, you have a few choices for Chinese in Pullman. This is probably the second best, only behind Golden Teriyaki. The food and service are up to par, the place is clean and it would be just average anywhere else. Compared to Emerald, it is excellent...stay away from Emerald if you can! read more

My go to place in Pullman for Chinese food. Everything I have tried, I have enjoyed. The chef special, beef with green onions, is a must have! I typically get it to go but they also deliver. I will be back. read more

Great Chinese food. Fast and efficient service!

Not a fan of Chinese food at all, but I absolutely love the food from here. So good. My husband and I order from here and it's always fantastic. Our two year old is wild about the chow mein and I love the almond chicken. Yum! read more

Best BBQ Pork Fried Rice! I love that it includes lots of veggies, in stark contrast to other restaurants in the area. Its the only thing I order there and I'm addicted. I've also had some of the main dishes and they're good too. A single plate will feed 3 adults, or 2 very hungry ones. read more

Great food. I got the general tso or however you spell it (my autocorrect doesn't know). Just a heads up, the food is served family style with big heaps of food and place for you to serve it up on. Not a bad thing, just a heads up to letcha know. Also they didn't charge for the tea. So that's badass. I recommend. read more

I went here with two friends, on my first night in Pullman, and fell in love! The food was absolutely phenomenal, and I was beyond excited when there was some for me to take home for lunch, the next day. The dish I ordered was the perfect amount of spicy -- keeps you interested, without putting you into pain. It was easily some of the best Chinese I've had in a very long time. If you want great Chinese food, excellent, and friendly service, Mandarin House is the place! read more

My sister was in town for homecoming and after unsuccessfully trying to get a seat at Phikun's we decided on Mandarin House. It wasn't terribly busy but the customers there were almost all Chinese so at that, my sister and I knew that we made a good choice! Boy, was the food delicious and plentiful. I ordered the mongolian beef and my sister had cashew chicken. The sauces were distinctly different and equally delicious (this isn't always accomplished at 'fast food chinese' places). The service was prompt, attentive and lovely. I left a large tip in accordance to the satisfaction of my tastebuds and the next day (don't judge) when we went back the waitress remembered us and hooked us up with a couple freebies! This place is awesome. read more

Good Chinese food, some one the dishes were a little salty, but overall good considering there are not many in town.

Fast, better than expected and big portions. I travel a lot for work and I'm usually mildly to very disappoined in the Chinese I get on the road (especially delivery), but this place is solid and they delivered to my hotel. I'll eat here again next time I'm in town! read more

Service is excellent. Very friendly! Food leaves something be be desired. We had sweet and sour chicken, almond chicken, pork fried rice, BBQ pork, crab rangoon, and chow mein. The chow mein was terrific. The rest of the meal consisted of dry chicken soaked in either gravy or sweet and sour sauce and bland rice. Appetizers were extremely greasy. Unfortunate, I had high hopes based off of the Yelp reviews. read more

This is the best Chinese food place in Pullman, hands down.. and there are a lot of Chinese restaurants in Pullman. The food is affordable (about 10 bucks a plate), and there's always more than you can eat. The food is unlike any other Chinese place in town. Other places you will find replica dishes of another Chinese food place - but not Mandarin house! read more

I love their Taiwanese cuisine. The boss is very nice.

Mandarin House provides great service. The food is very good and consistent. I especially enjoy their soups and the House Chow mein.

CHEAP, this food is cheap. The prices were unreal, and portions small. I purchased a happy family meal and it obviously lacked substance other than meat. They overloaded it with beef and pork, the cheapest meat. Lacked vegetables and any sense of starch. Unacceptable, go to Fujuyamas for good asian food in Pullman. Fujiyamas best Asian restaurant in town! read more
