Sweet & Spicy Mandarin Beef

Delicious food! The combo appetizer was very good. The General Tso was awesome! And the sweet & spicy Mandarin Beef was awesome too! Crisp, tasty, tangy! Hit the spot for sure! The service was very good as well! Our server did a great job! The atmosphere was pleasant as well!

As busy as this place was last night, I knew it was going to be good! We sat at the bar as we waited for our food. They have a full bar with lots of specialty drinks. All their dinner plates looked so good as I watched people get their food. We got two different dinner specials and it was so much food that we have dinner for tonight as well. Their soup was so delicious, we both finished that off. We were impressed with their soft chow mein and fried rice. Found my new asian food go to! Will be telling everyone about it!

#7 - (lemon chicken substituted for sweet & sour chicken), pork chow mein, almond chicken

Great experience & wonderful dinner. Covid limitations didn't effect our meal at all. These random requirements on restaurants to only use 50% seating are ridiculous - Mandarin Pine's tables are already spaced generously. Our server was incredibly observant & attentive, refilling drinks before requested. She came by often to keep an eye out for needs, but was not invasive of conversation. We wanted to see what they had comparable to Bamboo Gardens' awesome crab rangoons, & she said it was fried wontons that we were talking about. We didn't have high expectations that they could measure up, but they were amazing!! If you go, you HAVE to get fried wontons; you won't be sorry. The egg drop soup before dinner arrived was very tasty, and loaded with vegetables. Dinner was really good, as expected & as we've had there before. Almond chicken was flavorful, so was my husband's sweet & sour chicken. Lemon chicken was good, but not as strong as it used to be years ago (we preferred the chokes-you-when-you-inhale power level). Even with the appetizer, 1 drink (& 1 water), & healthy tip we came away spending $45. Other places in town average more.

Random Award Shrine

Usually when you travel with athletes they want something quick and fast but on this occasion I got to eat with the trainers. Their number one rule is to never eat at a chain so we stumbled onto a random restaurant in Lewiston - the Mandarin Pine. Once you enter the have a strange little shrine of awards that they've won and you continue on into the dimly lit dining room. We got a variety of dinner combos and the lettuce wraps. The lettuce wraps were fine but not memorable, comparable to PF Changs version. The dinner combo started off with the classic egg drop soup. This version was a bit more viscous but not an offensive version of the staple. The combo arrived in a big heaping pile of chow mein, fried rice, and neon red chicken. Normally I like my American Chinese in all its gloppy corn starchy msg glory but this chicken had the weirdest aftertaste that was really off-putting. The chow mein was fine and didn't suffer from that but the fried rice too had a strange aftertaste of must and foilage. OH WELL it wasn't a bad meal... not a good one but not terrible. Maybe they should try to make their aftertastey dishes lean towards a pine taste to match their name ~ nyuk nyuk Ask for the special menu! We sadly didn't order of off it because 2 of my compatriots didn't want to go off menu and order family style. Overall, this place is ok and comparable to a lot of Midwestern Americanized Chinese restaurants but I wouldn't visit this place again if given a choice.

I was not impressed with the food. I'm not from here, and it was not the same as what I am used to.

Chow mein and rice ok. Ordered a side of fried prawns. Shell still on prawns. Pork ribs mostly gristle. Lemon chicken not up to snuff.

I kept reading reviews saying how wonderful it was now. So we went last night. I have to say it was incredibly good. We both enjoyed it and look forward to eating there again!! I'm sensitive to sodium and typically chinese is do salty. Pleasantly, I could actually taste the ingredients. Egg fro soup was beautiful. We had the family Dinner S for two. Chicken was fresh and shrimp were large. Sweet and Sour sauce was so balanced. Server was very busy, but not too busy to not check in with us throughout the evening.

One being the China palace. So ok down the street I went. Walked in and was pleasantly surprised at the friendliness of the atmosphere. The owner chyanne greeted me in a friendly voice. I always appreciate small town nice. I placed my order and it was delivered to my table quickly and hot off the stove. First bite I thought, this tastes pretty good. I am not a person who eats much food. By second bite good turned to delicious. I ate my entire meal. Yes I did eat at different restaurants up and down main street, but always came back over and over to the China palace

I'm glad that there is an authentic Chinese food place in Moscow, ID. The food is definitely…read moreauthentic, home-style cooking: the noodles are made from scratch and the dumplings/steamed buns folded in a very similar way to how I've made them growing up. I'm visiting the Moscow, ID area coming from cities/suburbs with a large Chinese-American diaspora - something that Moscow does not have. So overall, if you want to try Chinese food, this is not a bad place to do so. That said, this food is very average and no where near the best Chinese places you'd get. I found the soup noodles very under-seasoned and bland - Chinese food is usually packed with flavor and this broth really lacked the type of flavor I'd expect. There was also no chili oil provided (only hot sauce you'd get at hte grocery store) so I couldn't really add that much heat to a bland sauce. Even outside of spiceness, I found I needed to add some soy sauce (which I normally don't do) to have a bit of flavor/seasoning. I ordered the seafood noodles and the seafood itself was great and plentiful. I do like that they don't skimp on the meat. If I came back again, I would not order any of the noodle dishes. The place serves everything in take out containers FYI. Overall, it's nice to have a Chinese place in the area but the food is only average.

The owner was hand pulling the noodle behind the counter, made incredible fresh potstickers, and the time to wait was minimal (we were expecting longer than the 7 or so minutes our order took based on reviews). Don't walk - RUN, to this hidden gem. Your tummy will thank you!
