I've long wanted to dine at this restaurant. On my fourth visit to Pullman, I finally had the chance to enjoy breakfast here. The Old European offers authentic, scratch-made European dishes. Despite its popularity, we were seated promptly and our food arrived quickly. Deciding what to order was the hard part, as I wanted to try everything! We ordered and enjoyed: Fresh squeezed Orange juice Stack of homemade Sourdough French Toast- love the homemade jam!! European breakfast with German potato pancakes Cream Cheese Cinnamon Roll I could not get enough of the sour dough French toast and German potato pancakes. All of the dishes were tasty, fresh and delicious. One really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I Definitely will be dining here again soon! Great old-fashioned restaurant for breakfast. My top favorite treat is the Plate of 3 Strawberry Swedish Crepes filled with Sweet Cream Filling and a pot of French Press Coffee. The Bacon Avocado & Spinach Omelet served with a side of German Potato Pancakes was smaller than I expected (the omelet), but with the potato pancakes it is the perfect size and wonderful mix of sweet-ish and savory. Finally, you can't go wrong with Buttery Hot Cakes with a side of sliced bananas... YUMM!!! Be forewarned that this restaurant gets super slammed on Sundays. If you can swing it, consider dining here on a Saturday or weekday. The ambience is exact as the name suggests, Old European. Scrumptious goodness in every bite- food, pleasant clear light ambience and neatly spaced out. Quick helpful service if you are a first timer like me. In case you are visiting Pullman, you shouldn't miss out on this one! We had the Austrian coffee (unlimited), cinnamon roll, Crepe and Mimosa. Also the European favourite toast eggs, sausage patty. The tiny cup with strawberry jam in one of the photos is their special home made all hearts to that one. Slight heavier on the pockets, but the quality speaks for itself. We did not have to wait, but I suggest reaching beforehand since I have witnessed weekend and game day queues. The food here is fine. It's breakfast food you know? Their bread tastes quite fresh so there's that. I guess, given how much people hype this place up and the price of every menu item, I was expecting a bit more. The restaurant vibe is very cute and homey. Three of us went for breakfast. They have a few lunch items as well, but less than five The sourdough French toast is amazing. No this is not just the regular French toast. The goulash was good but heavy on hashbrowns and very light on vegetables, with hardly any meat. Flavor was very average . I'd probably get something else next time Cinnamon roll was actually terrible. I've never said that about a cinnamon roll. It was very dry, had no cinnamon flavor, and left a weird taste in our mouth's. Even the amazing sour cream frosting was not enough to help it and we could not continue to eat it It's two gigantic rooms filled with tables but there's enough room between them where you don't feel like you're sitting on top of each other It's very loud and busy so if you have any sensory things going on, you probably wanna skip it FYI that they will not see you until your entire party is there They do not take reservations and do not have a call-ahead waitlist. If this isn't breakfast heaven I don't know what is! Recommended by our grand daughter and hubby we started with Danish Aebelskivers 6 original + 6 stuffed with sausage and havarti cheese. I normally don't get 'appetizers' for breakfast but I'll do these again! My wife ordered the sourdough French toast and she said it was fabulous. I ordered the European breakfast of 2 eggs, 2 meats then I selected potato pancakes. BEST POTATO PANCAKES EVER. Eggs are eggs but the 2 sausage patties were really tasty. Since we had 6 at the table there were 5 variations of coffee drinks ordered both hot and cold with zero complaints. And here I sit almost 5 hours later still full!!! Really great breakfast and service. There is tremendous variety here so come often, get out of the egg rut, and tie on the feed bag. I also wanted to try the Reuben which looks fabulous with grilled sauerkraut, etc., on Black Russian Rue Bread made in house. This place is amazing and the real deal. Everything is made the way it was originally done in Europe. The crêpes are white and fluffy with a slightly sweet cream inside /warm. TL;DR - some really good food options here. We've been here a few other times, but not for many years. We found ourselves up in Pullman around brunch time, so made a stop. The good - the swedish crepes were excellent. The sweet cream filling was really good, the crepe itself was great. The strawberries were a bit sparse and could have used some extra juice or something to get more of the strawberry taste. The biscuits and gravy were also excellent. My wife had the Aebelskivers with sausage and cheese and said they were fantastic. She also had a big cold brew latte with "Austrian Spice" that she liked. I'm not so sure about the "European Breakfast". For $17.50 you get two eggs (which looks like a fairly small bit of scrambled eggs), meat of choice (2 slices of bacon was the choice), and potatoes and toast, or cinnamon roll, or other options for an extra charge. My son took the +$3.50 option to get the biscuits and gravy. His plate with the eggs and bacon looked a bit sparse - but maybe would have seemed like a better value with the potatoes and toast with it. With the added biscuits and gravy, it was enough food, but for me, seems like a better value to get one of their other breakfast options (including the biscuits and gravy on its own). We got a cinnamon roll to go and didn't eat it for a couple of days - but even then, it was really good! read more

This place is amazing but I went this Sunday with my girlfriend and it wasn't my best experience. We both got the potato pancakes which were tasty but a bit underwhelming. We also ended up getting some Abeleskivers which were pretty good, but nothing to write home about. Service was friendly but a little intense. This was understandable since the place was packed. Our table was tightly between two other full tables, making it all feel pretty crowded. My past visits here have been much better. I recommend going sometime when it won't be too busy, and asking your waiter for their favorite dishes since some are really much better than others. read more

Pre ordered cinnamon rolls for a work party. After picking them up, upon inspection I could tell they were days old. Completely cold, hard as a rock, and no frosting. Unfortunately I was already to work when I noticed this. I had to turn around and go back for the frosting making me late to work. Cinnamon rolls are supposed to be hot and gooey with lots of frosting. Extremely disappointed. I mean $40 for 4 day old rolls? Gross. Long-time customer of OE. Servers, atmosphere, and cuisine are all very good. However, today I found out that OE no longer wants to take payment from customers for to-go orders when the customer arrives at the restaurant; they now want the customers to give their payment info verbally over the phone. I'm not going to do that. It circumvents the security of tapping your card or your smart phone at the point of sale. With the amount of fraud that's happening, no one should be doing that. There are other dining establishments to explore so I'll be looking at other options going forward. read more

We came here on weekday morning and were seated right away. It was sparsely crowded at 8:30 am. Our waitress took our order where we specifically asked cream, fruit etc on side. When we got the order crepes had whipped cream on top so we reminded our waitress about a special request to give cream, fruit etc on side n her answer was " I didn't hear that". She spent a good 5 mins arguing that she hadn't heard. It is okay to forget/ not hesr etc but arguing abt it is NOT okay. This used to be THE place for breakfast when I visited Pullman. Now I think I'm going to skip it from here on out. It wasn't because of the food. The food was decent as always. But they have become very "upsell" Happy. When taking our order, there is literally four to five questions each main breakfast entree, each being an upsell item. Ordering coffee, was a three question process from the server. My son's hot chocolate was a choice, the peppermint hot chocolate obviously an upsell. For me and my two kids, the bill was $85. They used to have Abelskivers as an option to add to your main dish. Now they have them completely separate. An order of them used to be 7 or 8. Now it's 6. Their menu also has gotten fairly bible and religious heavy. Their decor has not changed in at least 20 years, but it's mostly comfortable. The table they sat us at barely fit our group, and it was easily moved by bumps. It was also overcrowded by decorations. read more

The Old European is a dependably good breakfast spot that seems to have been around forever. It is an institution in Pullman. To me one of the highlights are the aebelskivers, which I describe as pancakes in spherical form. They are really good! The breakfast is always very good as well. The menu is pretty extensive, with a variety of options including some traditional American breakfast items and various options with a strong European influence. They also have great coffee (I recommend the French Press) and fresh squeezed orange juice. We've always had friendly service here, and the food is always good.
