Mystic Cafe (MC) is a not-so-hidden gem for great food in Lewiston. My wife and I were in town for a family event and found MC for breakfast. Let's start with the decor. The place is massive with all sorts of spots to get comfortable and check out the great art work. Then there is the service. We were greeted by the hostess, greeted by a waiter who walked by while we were waiting to be seated, greeted by our server and then thanked several times for coming on the way out the door. There are places that say they treat their customers like they matter and those that actually do it. MC is in the latter category. Then there is the food. I can't remember what my wife ordered but I will never forget what I ordered. I ordered one of my favorites, biscuits and gravy with an over easy egg. You can tell how good the cook staff is by how they cook the eggs and how fresh their gravy tastes. MC Is as an A+ on both counts. But, the one thing I will remember was the fried chicken. My server recommended it as an add in and boy was she right. It was some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. The batter was super crispy and not greasy. The chicken, even though it was breast meat, was flavorful and juicy. It added the finishing touches to an amazing morning meal. I cannot recommend Mystic Cafe enough. The restaurant is divided into an indoor dining area and a coffee house section. I came here for a quick breakfast and decided to dine in at 7:15 AM on a weekday. [Parking]: Easy parking in the designated parking lot on a weekday morning, but the lot can get crowded during busy lunch hours. With that being said, it shouldn't be difficult to find additional street parking in this part of town. [Atmosphere & service]: Cozy and comfortable vibe. Service was fairly standard and my waitress did offer a coffee refill so a thumbs-up. Live music available on every Friday evenings. [Menu]: Some of Yelp's top recommended items include the Steak Salad, Kale Salad, and Beet Salad. The breakfast menu is served from 7 AM to 10:45 AM Monday to Saturday. It was hard to figure out what their signature dish was so I ended up ordering the Lobster Benedict. *** Lobster Benedict (poached eggs / lobster / sliced tomato / spinach / hollandaise sauce / chives / english muffin - $17): Not horrible, but not amazing either. I could taste a hint of shredded lobster. The hollandaise sauce was alright. The hash browns just weren't as good as those hash browns at Frank's Diner in Spokane. *** One of those places that's fine for a casual local breakfast or lunch, but at the same time this spot is not exactly a must-visit. read more

Very nice clean resturant, looks much bigger once you walk in. Had a great breakfast, ham eggs fried cubed potatoes and sour dough toast. The waitress was very nice and were driving 5 hours to get home and ordered some carrot cake, cheese cake and chocolate Kalua pie to take home. The waitress packed on ice for us. Recommend this place to anyone living in or just passing thru Lewiston. read more

The ambiance was cute, an old rustic building with some funky decor, the service was adequate, as the server was able to meet all our needs in a timely manner, and the food came out relatively quickly. I like that the French toast came with eggs and breakfast meat. The sausage and eggs were good but the toast itself was a little on a dry side and they could have put a thicker coating of egg on it and maybe spice it up a little more. If I came back here I would try something different on the menu. read more

Tried both the restaurant and the attached coffee shop out front over a long weekend in Lewiston. The coffee shop has indoor and outdoor seating, pastries, and a wide selection of drinks. The staff is super-friendly, the vibe was really cool, and everything we tried was delicious. I would probably come again just for the peppered bacon. read more

We had the most delightful server. She was energetic and friendly. The place is larger than it seems. We were tucked in a booth near the rear. I ordered a beet salad with chicken. I went to Mystic with my Grandma and my toddler for lunch. My grandma ordered the mushroom soup which was luke warm and bland. Which is ok, it was edible. I ordered the turkey melt with fries. As my toddler and I are half way through eating the fries, I spotted not 1, not 2 but THREE small black hairs. (We all have blonde hair). I told the waiter and he apologized and brought out new fries. He took the sandwich and it came back cold. Then we got the bill, no discount, no manager apologizing nothing. Food was spectacular. My friend and I came in 30 minutes before close (yes we know we are assholes) but the staff was incredibly understanding, nice and quick. Wow, this place is amazing! From the price of the food all the way down to the quality, it's absolutely amazing. I got the beef brazed noodles (I can't remember the name of the dish) with a house salad. The noodles are homemade and the sauce is rich and creamy, wow, is all I have to say. I wish I was hungry enough for cake because it looked amazing. I'll definitely be back for breakfast. The art here gives you the vibe of Portland, Oregon or the big city, it awesome. The food here is spectacular! Super tasty! The service is excellent ! The ambiance is completely laid back and can be anything from casual to romantic depending on where you sit ! I recommend near the frilly arts area which is basically the entire place but my favorite is the epic billows table with Victorian couch where you can stare at oil paintings and a shabby chic brothel lamp with animal feet! Love it ! Glorious!!! There's always art for sale at the entrance from the lands best artists and OMG you have to try to coffees! Get one to go! Excellent breakfast, great service, and very entertaining decor with lots of interesting historical displays.

Today seven of us, six adults and one child, stopped here for lunch. We were passing through on our way south. Between us, we had sandwiches, a grilled cheese and three turkey, tacos, a quesadilla and a burger. Everyone was happy with their food. I had the burger, it was very tasty. The service was great, our drinks stayed full the food came quickly. The restaurant is an old building with a lot of character. I posted a few photos of the inside. I ordered the braided beef pappardelle (insanely flavorful! Thank you chefs!) with the side pear salad (minus blue cheese crumbles). My friend ordered the turkey melt with fries. Great service, solid food. Can't go wrong eating here. Stopped in for dinner while passing through town.

Not a 3 and not a 5. So, 4 it is. Start with the 5 - service by Lizzy was attentive and friendly with a great smile. Food - had the prosciutto with Brie and fries with a bowl of tomato soup. The soup was creamy and I'd order it again. The sandwich was delicious but very messy. Had to hold it in a napkin to eat it without spilling contents all over. The fries, however, was 1 because of the "old" oil taste as if they are using the same fryer for the fish and chicken. Should change out the oil! Carrot cake for dessert was covered with whip cream. Not sure why except perhaps to cover the fact it didn't have any frosting on top?? All in all, I might try again. But this really a "local" place as it has the feel of a chain. Wasn't sure until I learned the owner has other restaurants and so perhaps he is sticking with same concept from one place to another. read more
