I Was Scammed, New Business, Same Owner - Be Careful After a terrible first experience -- where I was charged for missing items and treated rudely -- the manager publicly responded to my review and promised a refund if I provided my receipt. I followed all instructions and sent it in. I heard nothing back, and I stopped by and talked to the owner Yusai. He asked for my phone number to refund via Zelle. Days passed -- still no refund. I called to follow up. That's when the same owner who made all those promises turned rude, refused to refund me, and hung up on me mid-call. I was scammed. Yusai made public promises (using Valeria name, not his) just to protect their image. The same owner is opening a new business at the same location. Be careful -- it may have a different name, but it's the same tactics and dishonesty. Avoid his next business or anything this owner is involved with. Dishonest, unprofessional, and disrespectful. This place is new, so of course I wanted to come and try their giant mimosa. On their sponsored Yelp ad, it says, "The original house of the super mimosas is waiting for you, we believe we are one of the best places to celebrate anything with family and friends!" This was my late birthday brunch and I came with a purpose: to celebrate, especially since they refer to themselves as the best place to celebrate. The day is March 11 around 10:45 AM. We were seated right away at a table. All of the table's automatically have coffee mugs. Our server, Rosa, took our drinks, checked our ID's and then kept approaching our table to take our order. We kept asking for a few more minutes. However, we were asked to move because they were expecting a big party and needed the table. I understand this happens, but this is an inconvenience to the customer and something that has to be thought of before the customer is seated. We were talking and laughing when Rosa came to ask for our order, again. We told her we needed more time since their menu is pretty big. She told us she needed to take our order before the big party arrived. We were rushed into deciding. Our orders included the Santa Fe sandwich and the bacon avocado omelette. We were super excited to try the giant mimosa. Well, I watched as they poured an average size bottle of Champagne, ice and syrup. It's not a big bottle. It's enough for 3 people. Beware that the straws are flimsy so there is lots of backwash. The food portions were decent and the taste was decent. The potatoes and my sandwich were dripping in oil. I took pictures so y'all can see the oil. We were eating and still drinking our giant mimosa when Rosa came to bring us boxes. We all looked at each other because we were clearly still eating. A few minutes later, she came by again and we told her we were still eating. I'm not sure if they have a time limit for seating? We left the backwash in the giant cup and ordered individual drinks. This mom was ready for a real drink. My birthday was on the 28th but since I have a newborn, we were doing a late birthday brunch. Rosa asked for my ID again. Then she said that they weren't allowed to sing to me or celebrate my birthday because it had been more than 3 days. My friends told her that I have a baby and this was the only day I could come out. She refused to celebrate my birthday. She said they have a firm 3 day policy. Apparently, acknowledging birthdays is no longer allowed after 3 days :( Rosa quickly came by with the check. We all felt rushed and paid. Overall, we were disappointed with their service, the way we were rushed to order, to eat, and to pay. I LOVE a good breakfast and unfortunately good breakfast is a bit hard to find in Mo Hi. Lawson's is good but a tad pricey and I've been there a million times. I refuse to go to Betsy's because I live a couple doors down from one of the owners and she is a complete pain in the ass. So when we saw the sign go up for Mimosa's we got excited. I don't know what took so long but I swear that sign was up for about 2 years before they finally opened, (on Friday the 13th of all days). We stopped in on Saturday morning and the place was pretty much packed. Parking here is a bit difficult as the main lot is pretty small but there are about 10 more spaces in between Mimosa's and Auto Zone. We got seated immediately and began to peruse the menu that you scan via QR code. I was surprised at how extensive the menu is. They have many different kinds of omelettes, scrambles and Benedicts. I was in the mood for a Benedict, so I got the Crab and Prawn Benedict. As the restaurant is named Mimosa's you would think that this place would have an extensive list of Mimosa's and indeed they do. I believe I counted 14 different types on the menu. It's actually a few too many. It makes it hard to choose. I went with the Watermelon Mimosa and then later had a Cranberry one. Very good. The food arrived quickly and was very tasty. So why the 2 star review? Well I ended up getting 2 pieces of crab shell in my Benedict. Very off-putting. And one of my eggs was overcooked. Also, my biggest problem with this restaurant is that they charge you $3 for paying via credit card. That is outrageous to me. When I saw this on the menu and asked the server about it, I almost walked out. I know that credit card companies charge businesses a percentage of the sale as part of the "convenience" of using their payment method. But that is a cost of doing business and should not be passed on to the customer. Other restaurants I've been to will give you a discount for using cash. I think this is a much better way of handling this. So I probably would have given this restaurant 3 or maybe even 4 stars had I not gotten crab shell in my food and they didn't charge me for using a debit card. The food is also pretty pricey because they serve super large portions, could totally share a savory and a sweet item. For almost $12, you would expect it to be filled to the rim but it was not. I would say it was just a little over half. At that point, I almost had no hope for the rest of the food experience. Cold, rainy Sunday at 12:30 and our family of 4 were sat immediately. First thought when I walked in...who thought this type of restaurant was a good idea for Morgan Hill? Large groups of younger "adults" piled around a massive fruity drink, drinking from 8 straws. It reminded me of a cheesy bar in one of the worst casinos in Vegas or a bar in Mexico. Other reviewers didn't prefer the music, but in a brunch spot I like upbeat music. I did not hear any songs that were inappropriate for young kids, but it was very loud. I also don't mind the loudness as I have two kids who can also be loud. Service - We immediately received water and within a few minutes the server was over to ask if we were ready to order. Chicken tenders kids meal was brought out in roughly 5 minutes...couple minutes later another dish...5 minutes later another dish...8-10 minutes later our "short" stack was delivered. The kitchen's timing needs help. I ordered a soda and had to remind the server 3x and after still not receiving it, I went to the bar myself and the bartender gladly poured it. Food - Most all items on the menu are $2-$5 more than you will pay at any other breakfast spot in town. Chicken tenders were very greasy and the breast meat used was extremely thin and hard as a rock. Chili Verde Chilaquiles were meh. There was a green sauce, but no chunks of chili verde. Definitely are not worth the $25 they charge. Burger was ordered medium rare and served well done. The patties had an odd firmness of like a meat loaf. Best thing served were the pancakes, but how do you mess those up? Small stack were as round as the large plate they were served on. The small stack could easily take care of two kids. We were ready to leave, so I didn't notice the $3 charge for using a credit card. If they are still charging that they can get out of town with that BS! $5.49 for a glass of milk or soda can make up your credit card fees. I assume Mimosas is attempting to provide an "experience".
