There is a distinct odor when you walk in, not unpleasant but sharp, pungent and hard to place sort of vinegar maybe onion it eventually dies down after being seated but then got strong odor of ash tray or upholstery from a smokers house. Guess the staff is nose blind. I ordered the green goddess salad. It said it had avocado pieces I didn't see them and very little chicken. It was good. When I walked in I noticed a wadded up napkin in a decorative rooster near the hostess area. read more

I've been to fine dining restaurants with worse service this location! We were greeted with cheer, and our server Vanessa was delightful! She had such a fun and bubbly personality that instantly made us look forward to our next visit. The food is great too!! Really big portions. Some family and i visited for lunch on our way to a retreat and we left content. Our server was very friendly, and although their lunch rush was busy, he didn't seem flustered or as if he was trying to hurry up with our table at any point in our visit. Everyone's food came out at the same time and we all enjoyed our lunch. We ordered their muffin special they had going on and enjoyed our muffins as a late night snack! Mimi's Bistro was pretty empty at 5:30 PM. The restaurant needs a refresh, but the charm is still there. We were seated in a comfy booth. Valentino was our very professional waiter, and knew how to pace the service The Birria Sandwich, Salad were favorites. The Salmon was dry, but prepared without a lot of salt per request. The coffee was from a fresh brewed pot. The delicious cake and bread basket has a minimal charge. One dessert was boxed to take home. There is plenty of parking. Although I have positive childhood memories of this establishment, I am disappointed with the service we received today. Let me be clear, the server and host were very welcoming and friendly, but that is where the good points end. After we were seated, we promptly looked over the menu for drinks and dinner options; it has become a habit since we have a toddler with little patience when hungry. We placed our order within 5 minutes of being seated...and then we waited...and waited. It is typical for you to be served a basket of bread and butter while you wait for your meal; that didn't happen. I thought that perhaps they did away with that service, but we shortly saw other tables being served bread. When the food finally arrived, only my husband and toddler were served; to note, the host was the one that brought the food. She was observant enough to ask "I feel like you're missing something", to which I replied with "Yes, the salmon". It was at least 15 minutes before my food came out. I suspect that they forgot to cook it, but I can't be sure. What I will say is that no one stopped by our table to let us know there was a "delay" with my food. Speaking of: Birria-dipped Sandwich (husband): While the flavor of the birria was there, typically birria meat is moist; there was none, whatsoever. Every bite had to be dipped into the consomé to make up for the dryness. Pistachio-crusted Salmon (myself): The flavor was fine, but the salmon itself was overcooked. I ordered a rice medley and green beans as an accompaniment; both lacked any form of seasoning. Grilled Chicken with mashed potatoes (toddler): the chicken was lukewarm at best, and dry. My toddler is hardly picky (he enjoys a variety of food, including but not limited to bell peppers, pickled daikon, sushi, arroz con gandules, etc.), but they struggled to eat this chicken; it was very bland, and the mashed potatoes weren't any better. I will say that the server was very apologetic, and they even offered complimentary muffins to-go (which we politely declined). However, I am not sure where the disconnect occurred between ordering and being served. Maybe it was an off day for them? Hopefully it is better next time. read more

I was incredibly disappointed with my recent experience at the Mimi's Cafe starting with the server by the name of Paulina in Uptown Whittier. A restaurant can have great atmosphere, but it means absolutely nothing if the front-of-house staff Paulina fails to deliver basic hospitality. From the moment I walked through the door, the customer service was virtually non-existent, leaving a terrible first impression that set the tone for the rest of the visit.Once seated, the situation only grew more frustrating as the service remained painfully slow and completely inattentive. We waited an unacceptable amount of time just to have our orders taken, and getting anyone's attention for refills or basic needs felt like an impossible chore. The staff appeared entirely indifferent, moving with zero sense of urgency and showing a clear lack of training and engagement.It is incredibly frustrating to spend hard-earned money at a local establishment only to be treated like an inconvenience. Good customer care is the backbone of any successful restaurant, but this specific location is severely lacking in that department. I will definitely not be returning to this spot, and I highly recommend looking elsewhere in Whittier if you value attentive and respectful service. Please check for reviews before entering a restaurant. It's no wonder this place was really slow without many people with a bad economy like this. Ordered some take out with a friend, only to have the order not available when we picked up. They said someone already picked up the order. I had to show proof and verify that it was not picked up. After a little back and forth of information, they finally decided to remake the order. Had to wait a while as they made the order again while having to listen to the Manager make excuses on what happened and stating how someone got a free meal out of it....Yes, free meal due to your mistake of not checking the name or order for the person picking up the order. When the food was finally done, the waitress who possibly might of been the one who gave the wrong order out, came out to hand me my food and apologized for the wait and stated how they don't know what happened. When I arrived home the food was not even worth the wait. I should of just canceled when they were going to re-make the order. I ordered 2x steak sandwiches (1x steak/eggs & 1xrosemary flank steak) and it was horrible. Tasted microwaved and texture was like beef jerky and hardly had any steak pieces. Super tough and dry. I would not recommend any of those. ​ Due to the staffs poor handling of the incorrect order and horrible prep/tastes of food, I would not recommend this restaurant.
