First time here with friends. The service was awful and had to round her up for service. My order did not have cheese on as ordered. My friends were just ok with their food as well. We came for lunch n it was so loud couldn't carry on our own conversation. The last straw was we only saw our server 3 times n took them 2 hours to complete our meals n get out check. We've been fans of Mimi's in Modesto (near the mall) for years. In Jan. we had a lovely lunch and I came home and took their online survey and sang their praises. We were told we'd get some free muffins for our effort - a nice gesture. I didn't notice that the offer was good for just 2 weeks and you had to return and buy another meal to get them. If Mimi's management is reading this, please take away the 2 week deadline. It is unreasonable to expect people to return in 2 weeks to any restaurant they just ate at. Strike one. When we were there today (at which point management refused to waive the 2 week deadline - it's muffins, for pete's sake, not a car!) I asked about the salmon, was told it is farmed, not wild. Interesting - the last 5 times we've inquired, it's always been wild. Did Mimi's change its source or are they just lying to us to get us to buy salmon? Strike two. I asked for the mahi mahi and asked that it be grilled or broiled "with no butter - nothing on it." The waiter wrote something down and said sure. Fair enough. What came to me was something that certainly was doused in some fat or other. I called the management over and he said "it's soy oil. If you didn't want soy oil, you should have said so." Wow. Has the English lexicon changed so drastically that "nothing on it" is now an archaic statement? He would not replace or refund the meal. Strike three. And my goodness - what happened to the portions? I am all in favor of portion control but the menu said my entre came with rice and veggies - I asked if they could just add more veggies and skip the rice. Again, the cheerful waiter said sure. What came? 4 broccoli florets and 3 slices of carrot. That was barely a single serving. Strike four and we're out of here. Something has definitely changed - perhaps it's new management that needs a bigger profit margin? Good luck. You'd do better to train a knowledgeable staff and try to rediscover the reasonable approach to service that you once had. read more

We enjoy the food. Favorites are kept, and minor changes are acceptable. Recently they removed ketchup from the tables and substitute a tiny cup. I don't use much, but for hash browns it's an unnecessary cut back, and a hassle for the customer. They receptionists have gotten better, but watch them. They frequently low ball wait times. Breakfast is routinely a challenge, as the restaurant is packed with elderly folks that appear to travel in large herds. Seating and cleanliness is average to above average. Waitress to guest ratio is a B to B- Parking is ample provided it's early. read more

This was my first experience at mimi's cafe. I ordered the three course meal for 12.99 we got the potstickers for appetizers and they were good, but the sauce was a little too heavy my meal came with a soup or salad..i got salad my entree sante fe shrimp n chicken fettucini delicious. the end and the apple crisp. everything tasted great the only thing....i think our waitress was stressed out but theyre cinnamon coffee cake is delicious! yuuumm read more

Wife wanted to have breakfast there after working overnight saving lives. i should have ordered a hot breakfast like all the customers. This is a french restauant that prides itself on baked goods...but they don't have crissonants! the waitress was nice and accomodated me with a crisont (spell check can't find it and I gave up) they use for breakfast sandwhiches. It was stale, had an aftertaste and was $4. costco has better ones. I should have gotten a muffin...they are so good. read more

The first time I came here was ok, love the tomato soup and the bread you get at the beginning. My meal however, was disappointing. It was some kind of chicken with a wine sauce. The second time I came here I tried the paring combo, and chose a turkey club with tomato soup. Again, soup was wonderful, sandwich was just a typical sandwich nothing special. It did take quite long for the food to come out which I thought was strange considering the lack of customers in the restaurant. The service was ok, hostess was friendly but the servers were just sort of robotic and lacked personality. I don't think I saw any of them smile at all during either of my visits. The two stars are for the amazing tomato soup, but when the new panera bread opens in Modesto I will most likely be dining there instead for lunch. read more

The service is always good when I come in. One time when I had come in to have dinner with my son the waitress apologized for the slow service, which I hadn't even noticed. When we got our bill the waitress again apologized and took our appetizer off the bill. We didn't feel it was necessary, but it was greatly appreciated. I have ordered the avocado bacon burger on grilled sourdough and it is amazing, also liked the parmesan crusted chicken but I don't think it's on the menu anymore. The salads are all pretty tasty too, and they come with a big ol muffin, which I usually take home and eat for breakfast the next day. Also, I always order a box of croisants to go, they are super buttery and flaky, I just love them. read more

Usually a great place to dine although tonight I ordered a ciabatta brisket sandwich and while the brisket was delicious the ciabatta roll was just a white French roll not ciabatta. I asked the waitress if it was ciabatta and she said yes. I should have returned it and ordered something else. read more

I'd give Mimi's 3.5 stars. Every time I've gone I've had pleasant service and pretty good food. It's a chain, so it's definitely not some stellar stand-out cuisine. However, it's good. The bread is sooo good and their salads are really fresh and yummy. I am in LOVE with their Apple Crisp Dessert, mmmm so warm and delish! Avocado BLT Omelet was sooooooooooooo yummy. I love their potatoes, I didn't have to even put ketchup on them to make them tasty. I even brought some home because I couldn't finish all the food.They don't scrimp on portions. I love that they gave my daughter a complimentary plate of banana bread,orange slices and cheerios. She's 8 months old. My hubby let me try his chocolate banana pancakes. Ooo yum!The waitress always had our drinks filled. I will definitely be back. read more

When I want something a bit different, I go to Mimi's. I always bring a sweater as it is usually freezing. Yesterday, as usual, it was freezing. We go to Mimis a lot. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. The wait staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable about menu items. The menus have changed and the offerings get better and better. If you have a problem with your order it is taken care of right away. We usually take muffins home for the breakfast the next day. YUM! Our food was very good, our server Matt was great. Our complaint is with the hostess and the bartender. She did not make eye contact with us when we approached the podium, she asked how many in our party, and then said "ok you're on the list". She apparently was far too busy to engage with us. We did not get a welcome to Mimi's, how long the wait would be, where to wait, nothing. Then the gentleman who seated us was quite odd. He seated us across from the bar area, which turned out to be where he was stationed. He could not have been any noisier with the silverware bins, clanking them around so loud we could not hear each other talk. Surely there was somewhere else to do the silverware. Then he approached me and told me that I got the wrong plate of food. I got the right plate so I have no idea what his issue was. Then he also criticized the guy who clears the tables right in front of us. This should have been done out of customers earshot. Earlier when he cleared the table next to us, he was so noisy dropping the dirty dishes into the bin. Overall not a pleasant experience, but Matt made up for some of our bad experience with great service. read more

Came here for the first time. I got fish and chips and the kids got chicken alfredo and mini corn dogs with fruit. I ordered a side of fries and got the spinach artichoke dip. I like the complimentary bread. Also started with a ceaser salad. The alfredo came with red sauce, child was a little thrown off by it but said it tasted ok. Fish came out hot and crispy, needed a little more salt. Fries were good. Mini corn dogs were gross, idk what they fry it in. I told the waitress and she agrred that they didn't taste like the normal ones . ??? At any rate the manager took it off the bill. The fruit was good except the pineapple want even ripe. Being first time patrons we got 2 muffins complimentary. The waitress was very attentive. Only 3 stars because of the food. I don't think i would go back, nothing really stood out. read more

Mimi's Cafe is one of the best restaurants in the Valley. The food is the best around, and the service is excellent. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food, and you can't go wrong by selecting Mimi's for any special occasion. They have a decent winecellar and the staff is knowledgeable when asked for a recommendation.you can't possibly go wrong selecting Mimi's Cafe for that special date or occasion. read more

This was my first time eating here. I ordered the Farm Tacos and they were tasty. The service was good. The restaurant was clean and inviting. My only issue was the espresso machine. It was very loud. It didn't help that I was there in the morning so people were ordering a lot of them. I was treating my sister to a birthday brunch and I tried the crepe she ordered it was very good as well. We both enjoyed the food, at times, we had a hard time conversing over the sound of the espresso machine. read more

My girlfriend and I frequently eat at Mimi's for brunch. The food is delicious and the coffee is perfect. We enjoy all the breakfast foods. The best part about our brunch is always our fabulous food server, Levi. He is attentive, and very friendly. Since he knows us now, we like to sit in his station. We always enjoy our meals and feel the service is very courteous and helpful! We are members of the e-club and enjoy getting the BOGO discounts because it makes it more affordable for us on fixed incomes to enjoy a really good meal at a fairly reasonable price! We go fairly often for Sunday brunch and most of the servers and managers recognize us and always make us feel welcome and treat us like family!!! Overall I would recommend Mimi's to any of my family and friends, in fact we often run in to family or friends we know when we go there. read more

My family and I sat down and realized how filthy everything was. The blinds were piled with dust and the brass bars separating the booths had greasy fingerprints everywhere! I ordered a cheeseburger medium rare and it was basically completely rare. We couldn't finish our dinner because we were so uncomfortable with how filthy it was. I've been to Fresno location and it was wonderful. This Modesto location must have poor management. Terrible. read more

We just absolutely love Mimi's. I'm so tired of seeing all the menu bashing on FB. Good grief people, change is inevitable. Their new menu is great. My only complaints are items from the old menu too, their Beef Dip is dry as a bone and broth is salty. Their quiche is weird and rubbery, in my opinion not enough cheese. Other than that, everything else is wonderful and reasonably priced. Love the new steak and cream sauce dish. Love the corn chowder. Love the sandwiches and fries. Love the prices and service. I like this place, the food 9 out of 10 comes out correctly, timely and well proportioned. The breakfast is really good and served all day/night which is nice. I guess Mimis must do a lot of breakfast business, the parking lot seems to be pretty full in the morning. Other than that, it's another formula restaurant like so many others that started out really good, but decided to strive for a lower level of mediocrity. Years ago, it had great food and a great ambiance. Now it has bad food and no ambiance. I suspect if it wasn't for breakfast, they would have gone the way of Elephant Bar next door. read more

My husband and I went to this wonderful cafe on Valentines Day. There was only a 10 min wait. The Service was so Amazing! Our waitress was keeping up with my husband's Ice Tea. Ha ha! It was our first time visiting this cafe and it will not be our last. We had the Steak and mussels plates. It was so good. Never had a steak so tender. .Delicious! Before we left the manager came to our table and gave us some muffins. And they were so moist and fluffy. One cranberry, the other blueberry. Very good! Breakfast this morning was very good and the service was not bad. Kids meals are a great price and the kiddos actually were full before they were even done. Both my husband and I ordered the steak & eggs. The steak was a bit over cooked for med well and a little charred but every tender and the herb butter on it was great. I'd never been to a Mimi's yet but was offered lunch and a seminar there today. The staff was wonderful as was the seminar leader. The FOOD, however, appeared to have been cooked and reheated. My burger was so well cooked it was tough and even CRUNCHY. The fries were way overdone too and either hard to the point of being chips or soggy. I'd heard alot of good things about Mimi's but both my husband's and my meals were a total disappointment! read more
