We ordered a couple of sandwiches that tasted ok. Both were difficult to eat and kept falling apart. Mine was the grilled chicken pesto baguette, but there was so little pesto in it that I couldn't taste it. The bread was pretty tough too. The fries are bland and had that raw potato flavor even though they were perfectly cooked. I was offered salad, fries, or soup as a side. I was not told that the soup was an up charge. Not the waiter's fault, I'm sure it's typical underhanded company policy. I got the french onion which also wasn't very good. The music was nice, but a little too loud. They have good air conditioning, so you might want to take a jacket if you get cold easily. Maybe the regular dinner or breakfast options are better, but what we got was not very good. Mimis, what happened to you. This was one of our favorite breakfast places to go to. I went there on Sunday, Oct 28 in between my daughters soccer tournament. I was hoping for a great breakfast but instead got a terrible meal. So this is how it unfolded. We waited for our food which wasn't unusual since it was a Sunday. However, once food was out I saw the runner walk past us to a different table and try to give them our food, ithe other table told her it wasnt theirs so she walked away, I tried waving her down but no luck. She finally realized it was ours and delivered our cold scrambled eggs, I sent the two plates back to get microwaved. Then I dug into my pancakes, they tasted different but at this point I was just ready to eat and get my daughter back to the game. Well I finally realized why they tasted funny, the pancakes were not cooked all the way. Take a look at the picture. I brought this up to our server and she told me I had used a coupon so the best they can do is re-cook the pancakes.......really. at this point we had no time so the best they did was get me 2 complimentary muffins. Still paid for the half cooked pancakes since I had no time to ask for manager and try to make a case for the sub par food we received. I will start with the positive...the servers at Mimi's are always professional and friendly. I have zero complaints about the service. The food, however, was dismal. I ordered quiche with potatoes for breakfast. Having ordered this meal before (several years ago) I was looking forward to a delicious breakfast. What I received was an obviously microwaved quiche because the crust was so tough I couldn't cut through it with a knife and fork. The potatoes were dry as a bone and under seasoned. Most likely they were microwaved as well. My dining partner ordered the same thing, and I noticed that she left the entire circle of outer crust on her plate because it was inedible. What has happened to Mimi's? Clearly something has changed. At the price I paid, I would expect freshly prepared high quality food. This was not the result of a one-time mistake in food preparation. This was the result of a change in philosophy that allows shortcuts in the cooking and quality of the meals. I would give the food one star. My review has two stars because of the excellent servers. I've ate here a few times..It's always been great..but after tonight I will not be back.. I ordered a caesar salad ...The dressing I couldn't even tell if there was dressing on it and it was a greasy texture not creamy... They used to serve you 2 warm breadsticks and a piece carrot bread ..now you get 2 small cold slices the French bread.. I ordered the French pot roast a few times here ...So it's supposed to be a bed of mashed potatoes with gravy chucky vegetables and roast beef in it... Tonight I got a big heaping pile of mashed potatoes with 2 big Chuck's of roast beef and tiny tiny portions of vegetables sitting in a plate full of greasy broth.. and if you look at their pictures on Yelp you'll see the picture of what it's supposed to be like but that's not what you get... Terrible service and food. Server not available for follow up after dinner delivered. Good cold and burnt. Manager uncaring and non-supportive. He offered to give us a substitute for our dinner. Took my dad here for fathers day and food was amazing. It was his 1st time trying this place and he couldn't stop saying how he is adding it to the top of his list. We tried the steak and egg breakfast with herb seasoned potatoes. I have to say that was the best medium cooked steak I've ever had. I usually use A1 sauce and I didn't even have to open it. I have been to Mimis many many times and have always enjoyed it. Yet tonight I went with my husband and mother, but will never go back!!! There have been many changes made, per corporate. They no longer give slices of carrot bread, no pictures on the wall, and with the music I felt as if I was at a bar... I wanted the relaxing feeling with my meal and that was TOTALLY NOT THE CASE. Every time I come here I always eat. The chicken and waffles. Love that it's not oily and it's a chicken breast vs dark meat. The chicken is always moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside. A must try! My friend had the Omelet which was also very good. read more

I went to Mimi's last night for the first time in over a year to find that the menu had changed. I ordered a salad for a starter while waiting for my main meal to arrive. Half way through my salad I found a piece of raw meat. I cut it in half and blood came out! It was so gross! I told the waitress about this and she said it was a bell pepper. My husband and I both said there was no way it was a bell pepper. I asked her if there was supposed to be bell peppers in the salad, she said no and walked away. Also, as soon as we walked in the door the hostess asked us to make sure we tip. I thought this was weird and desperate. Been here so many times over the last 9 or so years so this is a general review based on my experiences, mostly for breakfast.. The food is usually good but the service is always hit or miss. Usually it's the wait between ordering and actually getting your meal that is the worst, but it isn't unheard of for them to get orders wrong and mix up credit cards. But the menu is different from other traditional breakfast spots so it's a nice change. The outside eating area is nice too, except that your view is of mall traffic. The wait to be seated is usually long but they offer coffee while you wait. Overall, I recommend Mimi's if you're in the mood for something like quiche or eggs benedict (or crabcakes benedict!) Just know what you're getting into and be specific when you order! read more

I started going to Mimi's Cafe in 2001 when I stopped in one in the bay area. Since then it has been one of my go to spots when traveling. I stopped in the Modesto restaurant with an old friend recently and the entire menu had changed. My favorite dishes were removed from the menu and I had no idea what I was ordering. I never had a bad experience so I decided to try the new menu. I was not impressed. I will probably never go back but I do want to get one thing straight. The service and courtesy of the staff was top notch.In well over 50 trips to Mimi's everywhere I have never had bad service. The only thing that changed for me was the food. read more

Went in to have brunch with my dad and was a little disappointed because I noticed they changed they're menu. Today there were three of us women who ate lunch. The corn chowder was as good as always but the turkey salad sandwich was not and it was because of the baguette which was tough and dry. I ate the inside of the sandwich and left the bread because I couldn't bite it. It would be better if it was on the bread that it used to be on.
