For this being a chain, the food is incredibly high quality and tastes like it has been made with love. The portions are large and the prices are low for all that you get. Probably one of the better 'basic breakfast/lunch' spots to check out. Nice they are a stand alone building instead of tucked in a strip mall. The decor is very Bayou themed which is fun and appealing. The menu has some 'bayou' centric food items to align with the theme. We were greeted by the manager (possibly owner) on an early Saturday morning. Got seated in about 10 mins or less. Our server, Gerardo, was super nice, and efficient. He made sure our elderly mom was paid attention to and well taken care of. This isn't BB diner, but you definitely get a lot of food depending on what you order. The chicken fried steak and eggs is served with TWO steaks (it's a half pound of chicken)... that's a huge amount! Fried okra is a rather large plate that will easily serve 4 people. Everyone was ok with their meals. Except actually me. I ordered the Monte Cristo and was thoroughly disappointed. It is not a classic MC, but actually just a grilled ham/turkey and cheese sandwich. We ordered crab cake Benedict and chicken and waffles. The crab cake is ok, tastes lukewarm store bought and maybe imitation crab. The chicken tenders are very crunchy outside. The Benedict comes with choice of red country potatoes (with lots of bell peppers and sautéed onions). Overall an above average Benedict, eggs are at right temperature, gooey inside. The tenders are very nicely seasoned, although the waffles are doughy, and I think couple more mins in the waffle maker would have been perfect. Last time I ordered catfish po boy, which was an overall above average dish, although they should cut the sandwiches in half, as the portion is huge (very American portion). This was my first time at this restaurant. They were super friendly and very fast from the time I entered the restaurant, until I got my food it was less than 10 minutes. I couldn't believe it. I went with the Benedict scramble, which had two large pieces of ham under the sauce along with an English muffin. At the table next to me, a gentleman was celebrating his 90th birthday. Today I went in around noon with a coworker. We were seated very quickly. The atmosphere gives you a log cabin vibes. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. They have many choices. From breakfast to lunch and dinner. I believe their speciality is breakfast. They have lots of drink choices. From hot mochas to a Bloody Mary. Great place for breakfast. First time at this location. Was seated quickly. Staff was great. Had the fried green tomatoes, sweet potato fries, and beignets as appetizers. Didn't care for the beignets. Tasted more like a popover. Tomatoes and fries were good. Hubby had the Louisiana omelette and I had the Hucks combo with a side of jambalaya rice and bowl of gumbo. Unfortunately, I realized too late that I'd be almost full from the appetizers. Hubby's omelette was not what he expected. They do a plain omelette with all the fillings on the side of the omelette instead of folded into the omelette. Basically scrambled eggs with a side of mixed veggies & meat. He said it was ok. I never got a chance to taste it but my combo looked good. I did eat the jambalaya which was flavorful but would have liked it better with a bit more meat. Would be good if it were a dish all its own and not just offered as only a side. The gumbo was a little disappointing. It tasted a lot like minestrone soup which I like, but not what I was expecting. We saw Huckleberry's as we were driving by, checked yelp.com and made plans to drop in for breakfast on our way home. We arrived around 9am and there were three other couples seated in the lobby waited to be seated. We put our name in and waited about ten minutes before being led to the back dining room. Our Host told us that our Server would be Nicole and she would be by soon. Menus were left with us and we looked them over. When Nicole arrived, she introduced herself and took our drink orders. Upon delivering our coffee, she asked if we had any questions about the menu and if we were ready to place our orders. The only question I had was that I had joined the Huckleberry's E-Club and received a coupon for an order of Beignets. The coupon said to print it out but since we were traveling, I didn't have a printer handy. Nicole said "no problem" just show me the coupon. In addition to the Mardi Gras Beignets - 4 - Pillowy but not quite as light and airy as I had expected. I think that either the oil was too cool, too many beignets were dropped in at one time or they weren't flipped over often enough. Probably the last because each beignet appeared to be airier on one side and denser on the other. Also on the plate was Vanilla Cream Filling, Huckleberry, Stawberry and Peac Fruit Toppings. Chicken Fried Steak Platter - 5 - With three Eggs Sunny-side Up, Red Potatoes with Red Onions and Red & Green Bell Peppers, and a Biscuit on a separate plate with additional Gravy. It was enough for breakfast and then dinner! This was by far one of the best Chicken Fried Steaks that i remember ever having. Chicken Tenders & Waffles - 5 - Great Waffle, Good Chicken, Huckleberry Topping (extra cost), two perfect Eggs Over-Easy. Coffee - 4 - Good, not great but not what we call cardboard coffee either. Nicole took our order, refilled our coffee and checked back frequently. Many, many years ago, I worked in fast food for several years. Nicole was a pro when it came to Up-Selling and Suggested Selling. The pitches rolled easily off her tongue and did not feel like a hard sell. Excellent service by a Nyvonne. Super smiley and took care of the details. She knows her menu and can even tell you that the salsa is a homemade recipe made here! And... it is... yay. Loved it with my egg scramble. This scramble is loaded with fresh veggies and topped with sliced avocado. Healthy alternative loaded with vitamins. Ok.. so ... potatoes on side were boiled and bland (probably because they are supposed to be scrambled in with eggs) Nyvonne was attentive and noticed I wasn't eating them... she knew exactly what to do. I'm blown away... she took them back and out came crispy hot fresh potatoes. Yes, I said fresh... they hadn't been sitting on the grill. I can always tell potatoes that have been sitting for a bit. now, to finish it off.. she provided to go containers and then... put them in a bag to make it easier to carry out!! Whaaat?
