Been here several times over the years & was always satisfied with the service & food. Im not sure what's happened but the last 2 times have shown a complete turnaround. Without going into detail, it's clear that the staff are not happy employees because it reflects on the service, attitude & food presentation. My food was not cooked completely, my husbands was an utter disappointment. When brought to the attention of our server, her reaction was of annoyance & totally unapologetic, certainly not what a customer should expect after ordering an $18 & $23 plate. Being former food service employees, my husband & I always put ourselves in the staff's perspective & give them the benefit of the doubt. We are not ones to complain or show dissatisfaction by leaving a zero tip, in fact we still left a nice tip regardless of the unsatisfactory dinner we had. I could go on but it's just not worth the time. I feel bad for the staff here because it's obvious this Mimi's will not last much longer. Bottom line is, if you're going to spend $50 for dinner, you could do better at any of the nearby fast food places & get more respect & quality customer service. Good-bye Mimi's. read more

Amazing service from Nicki. Sometimes when we go to a restaurant service is a blah and you could tell that the server did not like being there. This was definitely not the case with Nikki.She has a great personality, friendly , kind and very warm. I Brought a first timer to Mimi's and my friend was completely wowed by the service and the food. Nikki has been one of the best servers we've ever had the pleasure of meeting and Mimi's is very lucky to have her on the team and she definitely has made a return customer out of my friend and I. We even passed on the feedback to her manager Adam and he was equally friendly! He has a great team! Come see nicki when you get a chance! Oh the food. We stopped here for a late lunch/early dinner (around 3 pm). My husband ordered a French Dip with carmelized onion, mushrooms, green peppers and mozzarella added, and french fries. I ordered the French Quarter burger and petit Caesar salad. It was excellent!And our waiter was very attentive and courteous. I love eating here because the food is good, and the ambience is so nice. The description of this steak dinner sounded delicious. What got was a tough piece of meat for $27.00. The rice was under cooked with no flavor and I eat rice almost ever day. Mimi's has gone downhill. I doubt I will be back. I should have gone to the Habit, better flavored meat and tender. read more

We have enjoyed Mimi's in the past, and was very disappointed today. I ordered a French dip sandwich along with the salad. My French dip sandwich was very disappointing, the beef was minimal and tasted like it had been was very well done. It was very thick and tasteless. Our family of four came for dinner and Sabina was our server. He was very friendly and gave us very good service. My husband and I ordered the baked brie appetizer. It came out completely over cooked and the oil from the shears was separating. My husband sent it back as it supposed to be heated, but not cooked. Our server was very apologetic. They were out of the crabcakes I ordered, so I ordered quiche Lorraine instead. The chef gave me the quiche Florentine because he didn't speak English well. So he didn't want to say they were out of the quiche Lorraine. I sent it back and again the surfer was very apologetic and offered to get us some muffins. I didn't really want to order anything else as we had ordered an appetizer so I just finished that. Overall food why I would say it's good, but maybe they need more experienced chefs in the kitchen. All the errors were not the fault of the server and I get that. We left her a nice tip and we will be back to try the crabcakes which I understand are delicious. read more

Last Sunday our family ate at Mimi's in Folsom for the first time. We were hopeful as we'd heard how wonderful their muffins were! Upon entering, we were promptly seated and the waiter was friendly and attentive. I ordered the bacon, avocado omelette with a carrot raisin muffin. The ambiance inside was fine, nothing remarkable. The wait time to be served was reasonable and the coffee very good. So far, so good....then the muffin was served. It had the appearance of every mass produced, grocery store muffin; certainly not resembling home made or what I recall Mimi's muffins to look like the last time I'd had one years earlier. Then the taste test. Even more like a mass produced muffin. The carrot taste was almost nonexistent, with few raisins. I didn't finish it. Then the omelette arrived. It was warm, but slathered in melted cheese on top with a small slice of avocado on top, right next to 2 very small, blubbery strips of bacon. Very unappetizing looking. No bacon on the inside. I felt very misled from reading the description on the menu! I didn't finish it either. The waiter was excellent and wished I could say the food matched his energy and attitude; but unfortunately it fell very far short! So much so I doubt with all the breakfast options available that I'll be returning anytime soon. read more

My wife and I had dinner last week at Mimi's Cafe. When we got there they were a little busy, but we were seated right away. The service was prompt and our waitress was Vicki. She knew the menu, made some recommendations for us that we hadn't tried before and made sure we were taken care of even though she was busy with other customers. Never felt rushed or neglected. My friend and I enjoyed a very delicious breakfast at Mimi's. I couldn't pass up the buttermilk pancakes- I'm glad I didn't they were worth the calories. My server was wonderful, but the manager was very unprofessional! She was yelling so loud at her employees that we stopped eating because we thought she was yelling at us! If you are going to discipline your employees there are better ways to go about it. Have a team meeting in a private area instead of flipping your lid where your paying customers can hear you. She even made eye contact with us and proceeded to keep going. Love this place usually, but I don't want to support a business that treats their employees like that. I have zero interest in going back. Kudos to the waitress though who helped us and didn't let that rude woman phase her! read more

Wow. This place has fallen off. Got cold food. They offered to remake it and then came out 1 minute later with soggy waffle and the sausage missing a bite and lied about making a new one. Waffles then soggy and cold again! Forgot butter and then after asking for it, forgot to bring it to the table. Just crap food and terrible service now. What a shame. Used to love coming here for brunch and used to be consistently good food and service. read more

I guess it's time for Mimi's to close it's doors. corporate chain restaurants never last because there is no ownership. Building used to be cute but now is old and worn out. Hamburger appeared to be boiled or steamed with no sizzle as it should have been freshly grilled. produce for the burger had been sitting in the kitchen prep trays for days due to low volume customer attendance. No secret why we were the only ones there at 5 pm dinner. Front door was dirty with scotch tape stuck to the glass, floor was dirty, windows and window seals were dirty, cobwebs throughout the upper ceiling. French fries were under portioned to save money and of poor quality. How do you wreck a hamburger? If it was a privately run restaurant the owner would put a stop to this madness. I feel bad for the employees as they should start looking for work elsewhere. read more

Went this evening. Service started out terrible from the beginning. Very abrupt manner. Had to ask for side choices and was told the wrong information. One of our orders was wrong and the waitress (Laura) didn't seem to understand the issue or how to fix it even after being told what to do to get it right. What makes the attitude worse is that everyone else (all two other sets of customers) were treated better with a much better attitude and the waitress actually asked if they wanted things. Strange coincidence, everyone else was white, not everyone on our party was. No clue if that played a part or not, but definitely stuck out. Came in to try the corned beef hash & eggs my husband enjoys. We were greeted by Glenn, our server also. I was saving room for the breakfast as I knew the serving would be generous so I opted to hold the toast. Glenn recommended a banana/chocolate chip muffin which my husband & I split. Our service and food was great!! Nick was our server and was friendly and very attentive to us. The reason for the 2 star review is the manager, Jen, she was absolutely horrible to the employees. We did not have direct interaction with her but heard and watched her disrespect the servers non stop the entire time. Yelling at them by the cash register where everyone could hear. We stopped another employee to ask if she is always that disrespectful and he said always, and that wasn't even bad. It was a horrible experience. I would fire that lady if you want to keep any employees or at this point customers because I won't go to an establishment to watch that again. read more
