Had Dave's Hot chicken to go, and ordered the two crispy chicken sandwich meals (level medium and hot) deconstructed. So I had the spread in the packets and the pickles and cold slow in their own containers. So as to not have my sandwiches mad soggy by the time I got home. With the spicy levels chosen, medium tasted more like mild to me. And I didn't even realize it had any heat to it. Hot definitely was a level up, and I could taste the spiciness which was good, but I don't know if I'd call it "hot". And that's not to shade the levels, they just may for go on the side of caution. We have been wanting to try Dave's for awhile and finally stopped in for lunch Saturday. As soon as we got a whiff of their amazing smelling chicken outside, we knew immediately we had to stop in! To drink hubby and I ended up sharing the Frozen Minute Maid Strawberry Lemonade and thought it was very sweet and delicious! For lunch I ordered the Regular Top Loaded Lite Mild Fries and hubby and baby ordered the Dave's Bites with No Spice and Dave's #1 with 1/2 No Spice and 1/2 Medium. We thought the chicken was nice and tender and flavorful, decent fries too! I ended up swapping some of my lite mild for hubby and baby's no spice, since I didn't care for the seasoning. He said it may have been over seasoned? This location is located in Folsom and features lots of fun, bright murals, including graffiti I love and staff were very friendly! My kids have been in a hot chicken spree so we came to Dave's for the first time. Everything about this place checks off all the boxes when it comes to Nashville hot chicken. From the chicken to the decor, the vibe is there for sure! Service was great, offered extra sauce when you grab your food. That's uncommon these days, and I'm glad they did cause that sauce is fuego! The tenders are on point. Seasoned to perfection, crispy, juicy, and hot! The house made pickles is like a cherry on top, very well done. I wished they'd offer them deep fried! So I hope the owner sees this review and gives it a try! The milk shakes are legit, we had the Oreo. A lot more things to try here so we'll be back! We love some Dave's Hot Chicken. The wait is sometimes long but it's always worth it. The chicken is tasty as long as you don't go to HOT. The inside of the place is spacious for a chicken shop. Ordering was easy either at the self service or at the register. I got the 40 pieces Dave's hotbox with half no spice and half mildly spiced. It comes with 4 pieces of white slice bread, mayo sauce and sliced pickles. The chicken pieces were juicy, crispy and delicious. The coating on the mildly spiced was a tad bit salty. Freshly prepared, piping hot chicken, freshly prepped soft yummy bun, pickles with girth and a bit of kale slaw to round out the slider. I opted to add honey along with the Dave's sauce. Best chicken slider ever. EVER! Chicken is flavorful, tender and meaty but not dry, which was what I was dreading. Absolutely delicious. Oh. My. GAWD. I think this is my new favorite fast food chain. I'd been curious about Dave's Hot Chicken for a while now. I drive by the one in Citrus Heights all the time, but wanted to wait until I got the chance to try the Folsom spot, since it has slightly higher Yelp ratings. Prior to stopping by for dinner last week, I was not familiar with the concept behind the chicken. After having my entire life changed by the flavor, I had to Google it, obviously. I found it interesting to learn that Dave's Hot Chicken started off as a food cart in LA, and expanded into a chain with several brick and mortar locations within just a few years. One of the main chefs was a former employee of The French Laundry, and used some of the techniques he learned working there to create his phenomenal recipes. Dave's Hot Chicken drew attention from several celebrity investors in its early days, including Drake, Maria Shriver, and Samuel L. Jackson. Apparently, these three have great taste in hot chicken, because, like I said, it's life changing. Okay, so, I'm certainly no hot chicken expert. I've never been to Tennessee, or Louisiana, or wherever hot chicken even comes from (the closest I've traveled is Arizona). The only hot chicken I've ever tried before this probably came from Popeye's. But, I instantly fell in love. I'm hooked. For life. Apparently, every single piece of chicken is marinated for hours before frying, which is how the exceptional flavor sinks so deeply into each and every layer of flesh. The texture could not have been more perfect. It was the texture of dreams. Tender. Juicy. Crispy. Crunchy. Heaven. The outer breading and seasoning were my favorite part. I had ordered the combo with 1 slider and 1 tender, with one Extra Hot, and one Reaper. The Reaper was obviously spicier, but both had unbeatable flavor. The slider was served on a potato bun with pickles and Dave's sauce (which tastes suspiciously similar to McDonald's Secret Sauce imo), while the tender was served on a slice of white bread, with Dave's sauce and pickles on the side. I personally loved the potato bun, but, if you're looking for a better value, I guess the white bread is okay. I'm not a big fan of French fries, so I asked to sub mac and cheese, and also asked to add cheese to my slider. My order came out with fries, and without cheese. I noticed the fries right away, so that was corrected, but, unfortunately, I didn't realize that I'd been shorted one slice of cheese until approximately 3:06a.m. (I hate how that happens.) But, whatever. It was amazing. It was so good, I don't even care that they got my order wrong, and then still got it wrong even after I pointed out that it was wrong. I mean, the mac and cheese was just meh. But the chicken... In order to order the Reaper, I had to sign a waiver. "Is it really that hot?" I asked. "People have cried in here," replied the cashier. It was the hottest chicken I have ever personally tried in any restaurant. It was so hot that I had to eat the Reaper tender slowly, with bites of Extra Hot slider and Mac and Cheese and sips of water in between. Even though I took it slowly, I was still not entirely able to conquer the Reaper in one sitting. I ended up taking about half of it home, where I finished it later that night. I'm glad I tried the Reaper, because I always love trying new things, but I don't think I would order it again. Next time (and there will definitely be a next time), I think I'll order one Hot, and one Medium. I seriously cannot wait to eat here again! read more

8/12/23 Drive thru for a hot #3 meal for my oldest boy! 5/29/23 My teenager son (declaring myself old here lol) watched some YouTube influencer and they were hyping this hot chicken spot up so he was craving and raving about how this biz compares to Roostarz. Memorial Monday, driving back from grocery shopping, we looked up Dave's and it states opens at 10:30. We saw the open sign on at the window and drove into the drive thru section waited at least 5 minutes trying to get the attention of the intercom order station and no answer. We drove past and can see people inside but obviously no one manning the drive thru station. We walk in and no greetings of any kind. Walked up to the order station and someone comes out to take our order. I mentioned that we drive thru as no one was taking orders at drive thru and they asked so do you want to order here or at the drive thru...um seriously? I'm already standing right here right now. I'll just order now. We ordered (2) 2 slider combos. One medium and one hot. They do. It skimp on pickles here. There was 3 slides on each slider and a side of sliced pickles. We sat and waited for our order. Another couple walked in and was immediately greeted with smiles. We quickly noticed how we didn't get the same greeting. Not going to jump to any conclusions, just going to say this biz was not ready to open at 10:30 and that's ok. They should however make adjustments to accommodate all customers based on posted hours of biz. While we do like the seasoned crinkle fries (crispier than roostarz) and the hot chicken tender was seasoned well and tasted good we were both not happy with the service. We have so many hot chicken places in the Sacramento area now, I can't keep track. And to be honest I wouldn't be able to tell most of them apart in a blind taste test - but they are all delicious! Dave's Hot Chicken was no different but what stood out to me was the service. From the person taking my order to the one who handed me food, they were all super nice and an example of how you should act when you are in the customer service industry. They even placed extra sauces and utensils in the bag without me even asking. I ordered the two-slider combo and a side of mac and cheese. Everything was so good. I hate pickles but I actually liked them with the sandwich. This was the first time I've seen a place that offers cheese with the hot chicken! It's an extra 50 cents but I thought it was a nice touch, who doesn't love cheese? And speaking of cheese the mac and cheese was very good and super cheesy (kinda reminded me of the one at KFC). I would definitely return here in the future. I'd lean towards going here before other places that don't have a drive thru. It was a bit of a wait considering I was the only one in the drive thru (about 5-6 min which isn't terrible but long for drive thru standards). But at least that meant everything was fresh!
