The tortilla spirits were already working overtime before I even walked in. I stepped inside, got greeted right away, and placed my order for carne asada tacos and a drink. Simple. Efficient. Exactly what the pre-movie mission required. But here's where things got impressive... I swear the second I paid, my food was basically already waiting for me like it had somehow known I was coming. And unless I missed someone hiding in the back doing ninja-level prep work, I'm pretty sure the young lady up front was running the whole operation. She was taking my order, working the drive-thru headset, handling everything, and still keeping it smooth like it was just another regular day. That kind of hustle deserves respect. Now let's talk tacos. These carne asada tacos came out hot, flavorful, and straight-up comforting. The kind of flavor that doesn't taste like "fast food trying to be tacos"--nah, these tasted like somebody's grandma would absolutely approve. And if the food gives "abuela would nod in silence and keep cooking," that's a compliment of the highest order. Every bite hit. The meat had flavor, the tacos were put together right, and for a quick stop before a movie, this absolutely overdelivered. The place was easy, the service was fast, and the whole stop felt like one of those hidden little wins you're glad you trusted. In all, Taco Express did exactly what it needed to do... Quick. Flavorful. No nonsense. Strong taco ancestry. And honestly, if this building was once a Taco Bell and has now evolved into this... that's character development. Will I be back? Food is decent but I cannot place my order. Let me explain. I called to place the order for the Tuesday Taco special. They told me they do not take orders over the phone anymore - It must be placed online. Ok no problem. I tried to place the order online and it will not allow me to order the tacos for the Tuesday special price. I tried to call back to let them know but they didn't seem interested. Maybe they don't like people ordering their Tuseday Taco special? In any event I cannot place the order for the food I want - whether over the phone or online. Stopped in to try what was noted as a top 10 tacos of Sacramento but visited the Folsom location. Taco Exxpress is located where the Taco Bell used to be by the old movie theatre.. You'll find Taco Bell's furniture inside so I guess they got a deal on this place. There is a drive thru but we decided to go in. I typically get a Chile Relleno to try out new places so that's what I did. Unfortunately nobody got a taco to try. :( The crust wasn't as cooked to withstand the sauce so it was a bit on the soggy side but not totally soggy. What I loved was the rice, beans and tortilla along with lettuce and sour cream to make bean burritos...was better than the main dish! My dad's Chile relleno was tough and he didn't like it. I came here for a late Monday lunch after a swim workout on my way to work. The place has a 70's retro look and was very clean inside. The cashier didn't seem to understand English very well. I asked about the Monday 2 enchilada special for $9.99 and what kind of meat options came with it. He seemed to say it came with only beans and cheese and meat was extra. This is one of those hole in the wall places, a hidden gem. My husband came here randomly one morning and ordered a breakfast burrito, after shopping at the outlets. The burrito was huge, reasonably priced (around $12), and absolutely delicious. We were in the area, again, yesterday, and came here together. The inside has the decor of an old Taco Bell (you know, the way Taco Bell used to look in the 90s with the colorful tables, chairs and booths) since there used to be a Taco Bell here before they took over. The place is clean, pretty roomy with enough seating, and the staff was attentive and friendly. For our family of 4, our order came to close to $50. The burrito was priced fair but I feel the tacos were a bit expensive. But, the food was really good, so although it was priced a little higher than I would have liked, at least it didn't disappoint. One of my kids had to use the bathroom during our visit and we had to ask for the key. It was a single stall bathroom. I was surprised at how clean it was, especially for a men's bathroom, as most fast food bathrooms can be pretty gross. If you're in the area, don't miss out on checking this place out. read more

Me and my family went to this place after a car dealership because we were really hungry. This was an amazing place to go eat at the moment because we were starving. I'm gonna start with the food. I got 2 soft tacos. They were amazing! I'm usually pretty picky about what's in my taco, but even though for example, I hate guacamole in my tacos. When they put it in my taco it was so delicious. I didn't try the burritos but they looked totally amazing. The unlimited chips were also totally amazing. They had 3 sections for the toppings. Mild, hot, and fire. They weren't kidding. When I tried hot it was hecka hot. Next off with the service. I didn't know our server in the front but she was a really sweet Mexican lady. When no one was at the cash register, I hit the bell and she was the first one to come without any hesitation. She was prepared for anything. What I mean by that is for example I had to use the bathroom and we needed a key, she had it right on her. I am saying this because compared to other restaurants, you have to wait a second. Last but not least, the ambiance. The ambiance was pretty amazing. It was a pretty chill place and wasn't loud at all. There were TVs with some football/soccer games on. And who can't have an amazing ambiance when it's not clean? The place was 99 percent out of 100 percent clean. Just a little food stain on one of the tables. I feel like this place is really underrated. When me and my family first walked in, it was only us. Then while we were eating for 30 minutes only 2 other people walked in. I ate here on 8/31 for a quick lunch after a relaxing morning kayaking. I started getting heartburn soon after and then woke up around 3AM with severe diarrhea and committed for a few hours. I could not hold anything down for a few days and am still having stomach issues every time I eat or drink anything. Calling a doctor today to see what is going on since the symptoms are not resolving. Even if I hadn't become sick I would not have eaten here again. This is the the old Taco Bell next to the century theatres across from the outlets. The interior is the same as it's always been, but is colorful and clean and will probably come back in style soon that's really the only downside is it looks dated. But mom always said, "don't judge a book by it's cover!" So we gave this place a try before a movie. We ordered the bean and cheese burrito (Friday night special $4.99) now this has to be the best tasting beans we ever had! Seriously, I do not recall having a better bean burrito! They use a high quality cheese in it too. We also ordered a carne asada quesadilla and it was very good too! Very flavorful meat. We got two asada street tacos too, I was sad they were so small but wow are they top notch in flavor too! They have yummy chips that aren't stale and some really good salsa varieties with unique flavors too. Some are spicy but soooo goood! We also decided to try the vanilla cream filled churros, you can get regular or filled, they are only a dollar. $1 each! They did not disappoint! I was excited to see what they did to the old Taco Bell location. Maybe they renovated it? Got rid of the 80's tables? Nope. They hung a TV on the wall and called it a day. Hopefully the food will be worth it. Nope! I had the wet burrito with carnitas. It was bland yet overly salty at the same time. It was served with guacamole on the side. It was also a little salty and had the texture of being in a blender. The chips and salsas where just flavorless. Oddly the chips weren't salty. Go figure. It is the one thing you want to be salty. Bottom line: Save your money and pray the Taco Bell comes back when this place closes. First off, although passed through the drive thru, I noticed the taco bell-era furniture and just want to say that it's awesome. Please leave it forever. I've been very excited for this place to finally open up here in Folsom right in front of the Folsom outlets. I am a customer of Taco Exxpress already, I drove by this morning to grab a breakfast burrito and OMG it is very delicious. The bacon was cooked to perfection very crispy, the eggs were also cooked very well, and the potatoes and the cheese just made everything tie in together, very very delicious. I'm never disappointed in these guys they cooked to perfection. It's very convenient to have them here by the Folsom outlets because nothing can go wrong after having a good walk going to grab some tacos or burritos. This place is located in the old taco bell that was in the corner, I have been wanting to check it out for a while but we are not ever in that part of town very often. Well tonight I was hungry and wanted to try a new spot. They have a drive through, but I wanted to go in and order so I could get some chips and salsa to start to evaluate how this place was. If you ever start to feel nostalgic for what a taco bell looked like in the 90's then this is the place, the inside is still decorated for the most part in the old taco bell colors with the old tables and chairs (I thought it was cool) the inside was well lit, and very clean. To start they have 4 options pico de gallo, green salsa (mild), a orangey looking salsa (hot) and a darker red (diablo) So we tried all of them. Starting off with the Pico, it was decent, wasn't liquidly like some places, I guess you could of called it dryish. Flavor wise, you could taste the tomato and onion, IMO it could of used some salt, but over all it was decent. Moving on to the green salsa, this one was delicious, good flavor, a little bit of heat. nothing to warm your mouth up over, just a little bit to add to the overall flavor. The hot was good also, it has a creeping heat, that starts to build up over time, but nothing that would require you to stop and drink some water. The diablo, was ok. But if you are looking for some heat, then this is it. same creeping heat that builds up over time. But its good for people that want it hot, but it wasn't so hot that you couldn't taste the flavor of the actual sauce. Now on to the food. we ordered a couple of enchilada plates, a wet burrito, and some crunchy chicken tacos. The service was friendly and our food came out pretty quickly. You can tell they are making it fresh as you order, so that is a big bonus. I saw a fajita plate go out while we waited and it looked killer. When we got our order we left, but decided to eat the crispy chicken tacos in the car before they got soggy. The tacos were good, lots of shredded lettuce and cheese on top of some nicely flavored chicken, the shells were crunchy, and over all I would give them a solid 8 out of 10 When we got home it was time to try everything else. the overall feeling for the enchiladas was positive from the family members that ordered it. we had chicken and cheese plates, The sauce itself had good flavor and the rice and beans were equally as good. My wifes go to is the cheese enchilada, its kinda how to judges a place on how well they make it (we have had some pretty pathetic ones in the past) She said they were really good and also liked the sauce. Cheese was melted and there was a good amount of it inside them. I got the wet burrito with carne asada, it was pretty good also.
