It comes with 2 crispy tacos of your choice of pulled chicken or shredded beef.. my fav is chicken! And with rice and beans and some chips... but I always opt for extra rice no beans. Their salsa bar is top notch with 6-7 types of salsa at all times! I love spicy so I for sure got the habenero salsa. The rice is soft and delicious. It's great scooped with the chips to enjoy! Love me some Dos! My husband and his family introduced me to them recently and it's always a hit! This location is especially clean, friendly, and fresh. Love their self-serve salsa bar (although people can get a little pushy in this area, but hold strong! Their salsas are worth it.). I ordered the crispy tacos (one chicken, one beef) and a side of the hatch green chili sauce on the side. This plate hit the spot! Love that it comes with a side of chips, which were able to get some more thankfully. The husband always enjoys the chicken mango burrito. We placed an order for 40 people for chicken tacos, rice and beans. They delivered right on time and with a generous amount of serving spoons. It came with a HUGE bag of chips, the hugest salsa I've ever seen, pico, lettuce, cheese, beans, rice, tortillas and chicken. All the side arrived hot and a very generous amount.... Expect for the chicken. We barely had enough for 40 people and I felt like it was a small tray for 40 people. I also didn't really like the tortillas... by the time people ate, all the tortillas got stuck together. I did really enjoy the flavor of the chicken. I've eaten here ( Davis location) for 25+ years. Thus I've already written a bunch about the regular menu. So today's review is about the new seasonal spinach and asparagus quesadilla. It's delicious! I added the grilled shrimp for $3 extra and was very happy with the amount of shrimp they added. The dipping sauce was nice and tangy and a little spicy. Overall it had great flavor and I really liked it. Was surprised the amount of asparagus wasn't significant, but maybe that's cause I added shrimp? Anyway very yummy and a nice seasonal addition. Because there is no Dos Coyotes near me in El Dorado Hills, I try to hit one up whenever I am out and about in an area where one is located. There are nine locations. Two in Davis, 3 in Sacramento, 1 in Elk Grove, 1 in Roseville, 1 in Citrus Heights, and 1 in Folsom. Each restaurant serves the same delicious South Western food, provides an engaging atmosphere, and offers exceptional value. That includes over-the-top customer service, too! Consistency is definitely the mantra. Something many chains are not able to pull off. Today, I am at the Folsom Dos! And "hangry" to say the least. Walking in, I am happy to see Eric one of the cool employees I have run into at the Citrus Heights location. He is so pleasant and ready to take your counter order with a great big smile. Thanks, Eric! After ordering, I stroll to the outside patio in the back. It is beautiful, peaceful, and overlooks a bicycle path that is so lovely. This is probably my favorite of all the locations. The menu items are all bomb. Specials are offered at each location. Right now they include: Frito Pie, Grilled Shrimp Grain Bowl with Strawberry Salsa, Sizzling Fajitas - Grilled Vegetables, the 505 Chili-Cheese Burrito, Sizzling Fajitas - Garlic/Chile Shrimp, Sizzling Fajitas - Traditional Tex-Mex, Green Chile Stew, an Hank's Cubano. Whew! The run down for each of these specials would be impossible to include. But I can assure you, the menu descriptions sound mouth watering. I love that the farm-to-table movement is supported and celebrated at each location, resulting in the best food from the freshest ingredients! Bobby Coyote (yep...that is his name) states in his bio that Dos Coyotes is the result of two major inspirations. His love of Santa Fe and his childhood in Los Angeles. In LA, he ate some of the best, authentic Mexican food. A trip to Santa Fe introduced him to creating fusions and hybrids with other cultures that came to define "Southwestern Cuisine." Delicious!!! Sustainability efforts are supported and listed on their website t. Community involvement is a part of the culture, and ways to engage with the business are made available on the website. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food - this ain't the place for you. What you get though is a Tex-mex/ New Mexico or Arizona style- mex style fresh meal. I ordered the green enchilada plate with chicken enchiladas and the bf got one of the Spring specials- Hank's cubano. The enchiladas were great and flavorful - the sauce had a sweet tanginess to it - similar to one of the green tomatillo salsas from the salsa bar. It also came with choice of beans and rice and chips. Hank's cubano is a spin on a cuban sandwich- its actually not on bread at all but rather a tortilla and it comes with an amazing housemade mustard dipping sauce. That definitely sold me. I had to steal one of the pieces off my bf's plate ;P. The color, decor, and vibe is so fun with vibrant colors and cute sculptures and statues. It's a casual place and you just go up to the counter to order and they give you a number and you choose a seat and they bring the food out to your table. Service was great and quick. They have lots of fun drinks by the can/bottle displayed nicely and even alcohol options. They also have fountain drinks. Their Salsa bar is also quite the display with many mild to spicy options. I'm back. We dropped on in for dinner this past Friday. The place was a buzz. The dining room was pretty packed and some folks braved the 90sh temp to sit outside. I choose to sit inside with air conditioning. The line to order & pay went fairly quickly and our food was brought to our table quickly as well. I ordered the Roadrunner chicken sandwich $10.95. It was on their specials menu. I never had it before and sounded delicious and it was. No actual roadrunners were hurt to make the sandwich, but I can't say that about the chicken. The charbroiled chicken breast filet was very thin. It was paillard style meaning the meat was pounded to a very thin thickness. Almost to the point of where's the chicken? The house made green chile jam packed a bit of heat and gave the sandwich a tasty flavor kick. The sandwich had arugula. I am not a fan of dressing a sandwich with argula or spring mix because with each bite a bit fell out. I washed it down with a bottle of Boylans grape soda. Hubs ordered a crispy taco and side of beans and rice. He washed that down with a bottle of Dr Pepper. He enjoyed his food and pop. The complimentary salsa bar is fantastic. They have a large selection of mild, medium, and hot salsas. But Dos Coyotes does not provide additional chips besides the small serving served with each plate. For non-local Sacramento folks, let me tell you a bit about Dos Coyotes. It is a locally founded casual restaurant chain with a Southwest themed menu focusing on fresh, farm to fork ingredients. Fire That Disrespectful Cook & Clean Up Your Act! My wife and I stopped by for a meal, but instead of decent service, we got straight-up disrespect. The guy at the register had the nerve to flash middle finger gestures at us. I let it slide, but then, while we were eating, I heard someone in the kitchen mutter "bitch." I ignored it at first, but as we were leaving, I heard it again loud and clear. On top of that, cooks who take a bathroom breaks and come right back without washing his nasty hands. That's not just disgusting it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Keep playing with people's food, and sooner or later, someone's going to get sick, and you're going to get sued. Dos Coyotes, get it together. Fire that disrespectful cook and train your staff on food safety and basic customer service. If your motto is about hiring high schoolers and college freshmen, maybe start by teaching them how to act right in a workplace. I am new to Folsom, and my neighbors recommended I try Dos Coyotes. The minute I walked in, I was greeted with a big smile from Maddie, who was behind the register. I told her I had never been there and asked for a recommendation. She was so knowledgeable about the menu. The salsa bar is amazing, the best one I have ever experienced at a fast-casual restaurant. My food came out timely, and when it was hand-delivered to me, Sam used my name, which felt like such a personal touch. Ah, Dos Coyotes.... Where do I BEGIN with my praise? The food gets an EASY five gold stars from me. (And, I'm pretty darned picky about bestowing that elusive fifth gold star!) They have a wonderful southwestern influenced menu that is appealing to quite the diverse diners. Options include low carb, low calorie, gluten free and vegetarian. They use top quality fresh ingredients and are committed to sourcing as locally as possible. They have great appetizers, burritos, salads, some of the most glorious grilled fish masterpieces I've eaten, burrito bows, mesa taco plates, southwest plates and a great kid's menu that does NOT include chicken nuggets. Their prices are very reasonable. The flavor combinations and influences are always unique, delicious and huge. I NEVER leave hungry. They offer seasonal options that give you a variety of innovative dishes that rotate regularly. You'll never get bored! Last night, we had one of my favorites: The California fish tacos and one of their seasonal specials, The Roadrunner Chicken Sandwich. The California Tacos are two marinated charbroiled fish tacos served on a warm flour tortilla with Chef Mark's dawg sauce, cilantro-onion, agave-lime slaw, fresh avocado, and mango salsa. My husband got one of their seasonal specials: The Roadrunner Chicken Sandwich: charbroiled chicken breast, house-made green chile jam, honey cured bacon, white cheddar, arugula, DAWG sauce; on a toasted bun with chips He gave it a big thumbs up, but does prefer those of the deep fried variety. ANYTHING that gets that man to eat healthier options and still be happy is VERY noteworthy, though! Many dishes include their house-Made tortilla chips, made there with low saturated fat canola oil. All of their salsas are made fresh each day. They offer an extensive variety of beverages, ranging from artisan bottled soda and fountain drinks to fresh brewed iced tea and low-fat organic milk. They also serve a variety of alcoholic beverages. You order at the counter just as you enter and get a table number. Fill up your soda, if you ordered one, get your napkins, cutlery, and salsas yourself. And then your food appears - very quickly usually. I am always amazed at how efficient the staff seems to be to crank out dishes so quickly. I almost forgot about their catering menu. You GOTTA check out their catering menu if you have a gathering to plan for. Now... for a few of the "extras" that make this review five star worthy for me. Their ambience is always fun and comfortable. American Southwest artwork and artifacts are a hallmark of Dos Coyotes restaurants. There are colorful lizards, snakes and other critters galore tucked here and there. For me, plants also make a place very inviting, so I appreciate the great (and well cared for) greenery. For fellow dog lovers, this restaurant has a comfortable patio in the back where you can bring your pup too. Just walk around to the back and there is a gated entrance. A bike trail is back there. We see many cyclists lock up their bikes back there and dine comfortably with their bikes in easy view - a GREAT plus! Admittedly, I'm very visual and love art (and I'm basically a big kid in an old body), I love the eight foot tall big red bull metal sculpture standing out front - a piece of fun and eye-catching kinetic art. The head is moveable, but the wind is not strong enough to move it. One has to stand on the rock wall mounting and manually move it to see the effect. This used to be a tradition when my son was younger - to get that bull rocking as we left. Ahh..... good times! Lastly, one thing that makes Dos worthy of five stars to my family is their commitment to sustainability. Take-out containers are compostable - made from sugarcane, not treesLids are made from plant-based plastic (which requires 68% less fossil fuel to produce!) Their cutlery is made from corn and other vegetable solids Napkins are made from 100% recycled paper. They use special dishwashers that recycle rinsing water. I could go on and on but my fingers are tired from all of this gushing. There are a few things that are less star worthy for me. The parking lot can be crowded at peak times. Nearby parking is a bit of a hike and that parking lot can be tricky to maneuver thru. The back patio can get noisy, as busy Folsom Blvd is right there and traffic can be LOUD at times. The last thing might very well be an old person's thang, but i think that the restaurant is usually pretty cold too. Those of us with more delicate constitutions might bring a sweater. I have been a long time fan of Dos Coyotes, but I must say...the customer service at the front has really fallen off the past few months. A couple weeks ago, a young man named Carlos took my order. He was cold, impatient, and disrespectful. Not someone who should be serving the public, as he showed no people skills. I almost cancelled my order and left, and probably should have. Dos Coyotes: where the customer is always wrong and the guac is apparently guarded like it's made of gold. Came in for a simple meal and left with a masterclass in attitude. My sister asked no chicken for her meal, not a crime, right? Apparently, this triggered some sort of internal chaos, because she was still charged extra for chicken. The cashier, trying to be helpful, said she could get an extra side of guac instead. Cool solution. Or so we thought. Plot twist: no guac arrived. When my sister asked our server Camille, our delightful (not) server, about it, Camille decided to showcase her Olympic-level eye roll and walked away mid-sentence with a dismissive, "my manager said absolutely not." Enter Sam, the manager, or, as I like to call her, the CEO of CCS (Crappy Customer Service) Worldwide. When asked politely about the charge, she snapped, "Like you were told, you can get a refund if you bring your card up." (So sorry for the inconvenience of trying to correct YOUR mistake?) Moments later, Sam returns, tosses the receipt down on our table, spits out "Here's your refund," and walks away like she just dropped the mic. But the fun wasn't over! Throughout our meal, Sam and Camille were clearly pointing at our table, whispering, eye rolling, head shaking.... very professional stuff. On our way out, Sam actually continued jeering and pointing while chatting with another employee. So if you enjoy being treated like an inconvenience, being gossiped about in plain view, and having your basic requests met with theatrical levels of disrespect, CONGRATS, this is your spot. It was apparent the guacamole wasn't the only thing that was extra. So was the attitude. The food was good. The service? Pure reality TV. One star for the free drama. My family and I invited Missionaries from Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to dine at your restaurant on Folsom Blvd. Friday, February 13 ,2026. Everyone enjoyed a lovely time with the atmosphere being friendly and welcoming along with the dinners ordered being fresh and flavorful. There were no leftovers ! The serve your own salsa bar was appetizing and varied. Although the employees that assisted us were courteous and cheerful, there was one employee who stood out that I particularly admired . His name is Victor. As soon as Victor heard I had a party of seven, he instantly hastened to accommodate us by arranging three tables together for our comfort. Then, as a server, he was fast paced, efficient, and exceptionally helpful. Victor's job performance was over the top as he was both charming and skillful. I went to Dos Coyotes for the first time yesterday (07/06/24) for an early dinner and it was suboptimal from food, service to ambience. It was originally pretty dead and picked up later. The associate at the front counter taking orders was super unpleasant, the food that came out was subpar to say the least and the establishment was ridiculously hot. I ordered a fajita salad with chicken, no tortilla, and what was service was a bed of massive vegetables not listed on the menu when ordering that were charred and I attempted to cut up these 1/2 onion chunks with a butter knife. I won't be going back because there are many great Mexican food options in the region and this experience seemed like a driven leader needs to be running the place to address service, consistency, cleanliness and everything in between. read more

Dos Coyotes has always been on point over the years, but I've only had their salads, which pretty much rock. Tonight I switched it up and ordered a cheese enchilada and a chicken taco. The plate arrived with a mound of chips over the rice. I'll need to remember to order them on the side if I return. The sauce on the enchilada was really sweet and I only ate half. Same went with the taco. I ate about half but the chicken was super dry and all I could really taste was an overpowering, smokey flavor. The received beans were fairly dry and the rice had corn in it (I've never been a fan). The salsas offered were really good, although if they're going to provide chips with the meal, why not just give out in a little basket of them before the meal? I mean, there's a salsa bar...why not keep it standard as most Mexican restaurants do? One thing that was irritating was the small water glass they handed out, rather than the tall ones. It's self service drinks and I had to get up to refill a couple times, which as a single diner meant gathering all of my things to walk across the crowded lobby just to refill my beverage. Probably wouldn't have been a thing if there had been a closer table, but that wasn't the case. Also, management might want to talk to their young staff who prepare food and work the front counter because their interaction with customers left little to be desired. I threw down $10 and in the end felt like I wasted money on a lackluster meal. It's a shame because I traveled across town while my kid had practice to eat here.
