There were quite a few people waiting, which made us feel like it would be worth it. Once we were seated, we were served chips and salsa right away, which was a great start. I ordered the carne asada and my husband got a burrito, enchilada, and taco. Everything was very tasty and really hit the spot. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back to try more!

Ordered to-go ... first of all, the menu is outdated so what should have been my bill was $10 higher than I thought. I get it, prices go up. But when my bill was $70 and not the $50 I was expecting, I was curious. I was charged an additional $1.50 for each item that had chicken in it (mind you the menu noted there would be that extra charge for burritos and every one of those items was a taco). Then I was charged for chips and salsa when the menu said those came with the meals. So the $10 upcharge is now at $18; there's the $20 difference. Now the food. Chips were stale and unsalted. I got two salsas: one that was too spicy to eat (I had asked for mild or medium) and one that was reminiscent of a ketchup base. Hard-shell chicken taco (I asked for soft): zero flavor (but the cheese was good). Soft chicken taco: I wouldn't know as these were my daughter's but she asked where I picked up dinner because the chicken had zero flavor. 0/5 stars on the upcharged chicken tacos - guess I should have stuck with cheese tacos and avoided the upcharge. Carne asada soft taco: this one was OK, meat was a little dry but at least it was seasoned; probably the best item in the order for 3.5/5 stars. I'd say I'd give them another chance, but ask more questions before handing over an extra $20 because that's totally on me ... but when your disappointed hungry kid tells you her food has no flavor, that's a hard no for this mama bear.

For lunch it's a walk up and order type of service and the food comes out incredibly quick! For dinner, if I remember correctly it's more of a sit down and they'll come to you service. Either way it's always great service. I got their two crunchy taco plate which is plenty of food and really yummy! They have a self service chip and salsa bar which is always my favorite. I recommend coming by and trying this place out!

However, this is my first time trying out their Fair Oaks location. Coincidentally, this restaurant is also on Madison Ave but roughly 4 miles east and adjacent to Fair Oaks Blvd. Located in a small strip-mall, this place neighbors other family owned-and-operated businesses that include "Fabian's Italian Bistro" and "Moth Hole Consignment Boutique". And to those of you locals that remember, this is actually where "El Gallo Mexican Restaurant" once stood from 2018-2024. I came here with my lady during the evening of Tuesday 6/24/2025 at around 6:00pm. The parking lot was packed with cars which I am assuming was a blend of El Balcon and Fabian's customers among others. One thing that really caught my attention was the generous outdoor patio as their Manzanita location does not offer. However, the big picture is on the inside of this place. First of all, it is way more spacious and secondly, they offer a full bar with some amazing top-shelf tequilas. The dining area itself has a main room but also an additional dining room with a ton of seating. Menu options are quite similar to their other location and I've got to say, they offer a huge variety of everything; tacos, burritos, enchiladas, seafood, and much more. They even offer a standard non-Mexican breakfast entree menu served daily from 9am-2pm. During our visit, we took full advantage of their "Happy Hour" special. And since it was a Tuesday, what better way to make the week better than tacos? I ordered two "Carnitas" tacos and one "Pollo" taco. Best of all, these were only $1.75/ea (as of summer 2025). The salsa bar is also very impressive with a huge variety of mid/hot salsas, jalapeños, radishes, limes, and fresh tortilla chips. Once placing our orders, our food arrives in a quick 5 minutes. And as you can see from the photo, they did not disappoint. Surprisingly, the real winner here was their red salsa as it offered the perfect balance of tangy and spicy. Both tacos were cooked to perfection as the seasoning on both the carnitas and pollo tacos tasted amazingly delicious. Even the owner/manager came over to our table to make sure we were enjoying our food. He was also full of enthusiasm and positive energy which showed how much he genuinely cared for his business and its customers. All in all, the Fair Oaks "El Balcon Taqueria" earns a unanimous five-star rating in my book. The amazingly affordable prices, top-notch customer service, convenient location, and delicious Mexican food earn all high notes from me. Best of all, they are open seven days a week from 9am-9pm. Come hungry and if you wish to partake in a cerveza or well drink, they will have you covered!

The staff were friendly and welcoming. The interior has nice booths and is very clean my favorite part is that they have a free salsa bar and free chips. I was surprised to see that Owner is super cool and gave us a dessert to try out and walked us through the menu. We've eaten in the restaurant more than we've had takeout and can recommend for either direction your night wants to go! Onto the food: Chips and Salsa - Typical crunchy corn chips with a good portion of salt sticking to each one. Very good like any solid taqueria would have. Habanero Sauce - 9 - Tasty but wow will this one get you. It's hot! So much good flavor though...it's to die for. Jalapeño Cream Sauce - 10 - Something I've never seen before but is so delicious. Creamy with tremendous Jalapeno flavor with a kick. Destination salsa!!! Guacamole Sauce - 6 - Lacking in lime flavor, watered down avocado Sinaloa Sauce - 8 - fresh tomato forward but excellent spices on the finish. Rice 7 - Good but run of the mill Beans - 10 - Best refried beans you can get...seriously! Quesabirria - 9 - Juicy and flavorful. I need to try with hot sauce, cilantro, onions and lime to compare with the best in the business in Chula Vista La Fogata Burrito - 7 - It's a lot to eat but very one note in flavor. I was hoping for more pizazz Carne Asada Super Burrito - 10 - Juicy and tasty, hit damn it's good! Shredded Chicken enchilada with green sauce - 10 - Tender and juicy chicken along with perfectly bittersweet green sauce. Birria Enchilada with red sauce - 8 - Juicy meat but salty when combined with the red sauce. Good flavor though! Chile Relleno Plate - 10 - The fresh tomato sauce was perfect, the crunch on the chile was perfect, the cheese was perfect. Eat it right away to preserve the crunch! Taco Plate (Pollo Asada, Carnitas, Al Pastor) - Carne Asada - 7 - I ordered chicken but this was flavorful albeit dry Carnitas - 6 - No crisp and a bit lacking in flavor Al Pastor - 9 - Very flavorful but has a greasiness to it . I don't recommend ordering in a burrito because it may be overwhelming. Flan - 8 - Creamy and tasty, a tad sweet This place is fantastic. There are several items we've tried that have become our favorites among the local taquerias. Friendly staff, very high quality takeout Mexican at a good price. This place can't be beat!

IG Style Burrito [Roseville CA]…read more I have been meaning to visit Niko's Tacos since seeing the sign go up. It was previously occupied by a takeout-only Chinese restaurant. I finally made it here on National Burrito Day! Naturally I had to order a burrito! LoL! I ordered the steak burrito "IG Style" ($0.55 extra) and dined in. First of all the burrito was huge! Presentation was pretty and quality was great! The IG Style is where they embellish your burrito with Cotija cheese and crema drizzle. Well, that burrito lasted me for lunch and dinner... delicious and flavorful. Friendly customer service too! They are open late until midnight from Tues to Sat so when you are having late night cravings don't get your tacos at Taco Bell, come here for tacos instead where the challenge you'll be asking yourself is "Street tacos or Zip tacos?" Parking is very limited. Niko's is next to 7-11 on Cirby Way. Review #4009
